This is the Book of the Summer.
I devoured this book. I was on vacation with my family and while they went to the beach one afternoon, I stayed behind to read Catching Ember. I simply couldn't put it down.
When I say this book has it all, I mean it HAS IT ALL. There's wonderful banter, red-hot steam, and a gripping storyline. There's divine (DIVINE) cowboys and amazing women right beside them!
If you love Yellowstone, this will blow your mind! And, even if you haven't watched that show and just enjoy a great romance, you will be smitten.
10/10 definitely recommend. This book has my heart. <3

Dear Beverly, I fucking missed you!! Welcome back!!

Catching Ember had me from the start. Yes, I already knew Beverly had talent, so structurally I had no fear, but a story can be well written and meet all the criteria and still not pull a reader in or make a reader fell what’s happening. She did both and I did not want this story to come to an end! Ember and Nash sparked immediately! Not only did they have a spark in chemistry that quickly turned passionate, but their banter was witty and engaging and made them both that much more endearing to me. Their entire journey was one I wanted to jump into and be a part of. The entire thing made my heart soar and be happy!

It’s been five years since I’ve had the pleasure of getting lost in a Beverly Preston world and I am very much looking forward to Travis’s story coming!!

Beverly is back and she is giving us Ember and Nash. She never ceases to amaze me with her gift for words and beautiful character development. I absolutely fell in love with this couple and their story.
If you love feisty, honest, down to earth women and strong, sexy, cowboy business men than look no further! I couldn't put this down. I was literally pulled into their world and didn't stop till the end. It has everything I love in a book. We had wonderful smart banter, too much sizzle to shake a stick an all knowing mother a wonderfully told story with so many feels ! I hope you are ready for the swoon worthy Nash and the woman on a mission to learn the ranch Ember!

I had the greatest privilege or working with Beverly on this book. And no, that is not why I am rating and reviewing this book. Even if I didn't have that pleasure of working with her, this book is amazing. I was pulled in from the very beginning and glued to this story til the very end. Hell, most of the time, I had to go back and re-read parts because I kept forgetting that I was proofreading this book and had a job to do – not just reading for pleasure. LOL

Catching Ember is Beverly's first book in roughly three years and she is not holding back on anything. She delivers an explosive love story with amazing family dynamics that will grip readers right from the start. She delivers a heart-pounding storyline that is filled with so much chemistry, amazing banter and characters that readers want to get to know even more.

Readers of Beverly's previous will love seeing glimpses of characters from another book. For new readers, it's going to make you want to go back and read their book after you are done with this one (Surviving Broken). I loved meeting Ember and Nash in this book. They were two characters that caught me by surprise and I loved getting to know them in this book.

I won't go into details of this book. You are in for a wild ride in so many ways and you won't be able to catch your breath til it's over. Catching Ember is a brilliant start to Beverly's series, Buckle Up. I am so unbelievably happy that she I back and I cannot wait to read wha she brings us next.

4 star Review Catching Ember (Buckle Up #1) by Beverly Preston

Beverly Preston is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across this author before. This is Nash Harris and Ember Thompson’s story and it was one that drew me in quickly.
This was an entertaining read that ticked a lot of the boxes for me. The sparks fly when they meet and the chemistry that sizzles between them is intense . The fact that Nash is a developer and Ember is the new owner of Walker Ranch and stands in his way of his latest plans just added an additional layer to the story.
It doesn't take long for Ember to fall for Nash. Falling for a man like Nash was easy, but underneath the brash, alpha exterior hides a man that has been badly burnt. There was passion, steam and some heart warming moments as well as humour in Catching Ember; the characters were likeable and easy to relate to.
It was also fun to watch Ember bring Nash to his knees. I loved that once he realized how important Ember was that he offered the love and support she needed and the growth that both these characters, particularly Ember, go through was amazing.

Sometimes life deviates from your plan. Ember finds herself committed to four months at her deceased daddy's ranch. Nash had his plan all made but he never expected Ember. This starts out as a slow burn romance that only gets hotter. Ember wanted to learn about her daddy and ranching and never expected to find love. This story has all the angst and whole loft of heart. ~Cindy

"A must read fo the summer, you will be hooked from page one!

It’s been a while since we heard from Beverly Preston, but let’s just say she threw the gauntlet down with this sensational new love story!! Chasing Ember is a spirited tale of two opposites that will have sparks flying from the moment they meet. It’s city girl, hometown cowboy, and a stampeding bull that turns their world upside down… literally!! Needless to say, they both come out of it alright but are left with lots of interest in who and what just happened. This is one of those books you never want to end!!

Ember Thompson, the new girl in town, arriving from Malibu, CA to a life that will be unlike she is used to. She is the daughter of the late Ben Walker, who owned Walker Ranch, one of the largest ranches in Texas near the Ft Worth area. Ember had never known her dad, but upon his death he had left his ranch to her to do what she wanted with it. The only stipulation was that she spend 4 months on the ranch and learn everything she could about it before she made her decision. Ember was an easy going, smart, intuitive but fiercely intense if she needed be too. So, she was more than ready to learn about her dad and his world on the ranch.

Then there is Nash Harris. Nash is the “hero” that came to Ember’s rescue when a stampeding bull almost trampled her. And though she was grateful for his help, he was not the nicest to her. Nash is handsome, intelligent, an ego the size of Texas and his gorgeous blue eyes were absolutely mesmerizing to Ember. He was astute in business but was also seemed to have a special talent when working in the oil industry. Another thing about Nash was that he also grew up on the ranch next door to the Walker Ranch. His knowledge that the Walker Ranch was sitting on top of a lot of oil made him want nothing more than to own it. Of course, Nash wasn’t the only one who was after the ranch, there were plenty of other oil tycoons trying to entice Ember to sell too.

One of the things I loved about Ember is that she was so committed to learning about the ranch and her dad that she wasn’t intimidated by the folks trying to get her to sell. And she also wasn’t afraid to confront them either. It was awesome when she called all interested buyers to let them know she had no intention of selling and planned to stay. She had the courage, the resolve, and the strength of character to do what her dad asked of her. I loved how she embraced the ranch and spent time learning the ropes of becoming a ranch owner.

Through both Ember and Nash tried to ignore their attraction, chance encounters would eventually lead to an uncontainable desire… one they could no longer resist. Along the way there was plenty of banter, playfulness and just enough angst!! The chemistry was like a volcano – explosive, uncontainable and hot as hell!! Yet the romance was sweet and sexy and all the things you love in a romance. There is so much more that I’d love to say about this book, but it would ruin it for you!!

What a fantastic ending to this book and was so unexpected. Most certainly kept me on the edge of my seat.

Catching Ember is an absolute 1 click. Pretty sure that you will be happy you do!!

Catching Ember has EVERYTHING I love about cowboy books!! The woman from out of town with the perfect amount of sass and sexiness combined, the man that's grown up in town but still somehow doesn't quite fit, and a whole bunch of side characters who may or may not want either of them to succeed leaving the ending perfect for this book.... but open enough for a whole series? YES!!

Ember has just recently found out that the father she never knew left her one of the largest ranches in the Ft. Worth area, and asked her to stay a while before she decided to keep or sell it. Y'all, Ember is PERFECTION!! All sass, sexy on top of it, everything I like to read in a heroine. When she's backed into a corner the last thing she does is give in, and the first thing she does is bite back a little.

There's a boardroom scene where she's asked everyone who is interested in buying the ranch to come down, and she asks for the time to make her decision, but coming into the boardroom she finds out that Nash is one of the interested parties! In her anger she bit back hard, and not only is it funny, but it gave me a real idea of who she is as a person, and how Beverly Preston intends for things to go down between Ember and Nash.

Nash is so HOT!! The meet cute between him and Ember at the beginning, he gets off to a rocking start by saving her life, but then almost instantly screws it up when he let's her know he's interested in the ranch. She believes instantly that he was only flirting with her because of the ranch, and it takes Nash a good while to overcome his own failures.

The side characters are so fascinating! I thought Mr. Montgomery was going to stay locked up tight, but as the book progresses he becomes more and more of the father figure she needs. And Travis... is he the villain or another of Embers protectors?

There is so much happening by the end if you're not paying attention it's easy to get lost, but this is definitely a five star enemies to lovers ride, and I can't WAIT for the next in the series!!

I was totally captivated by this beautiful, breathtaking and sizzling romance. Ember has recently lost a father she never knew. He left his huge wealthy ranch to her when he passed, asking only that she spend four months there before she makes any decision to sell. Ember is a free spirited California girl, but is also smart, strong, and adventurous. She wants to give Texas and ranch life an honest shot, but she has a lot to learn. There are many who want to get their hands on her ranch and will do whatever it takes to convince her to sell. When she first arrives, she has a breathtaking and hilarious meet cute with Nash. He had an easy confidence, charm, and rugged sexiness that called to her. But she soon learns that he works hard to get what he wants, and he wants her ranch for it's oil. But he never expected the beautiful woman he thought would be his adversary. She was the perfect blend of sweet innocence, with a wild spirit that made him want to break all his rules. They are drawn to each other right from the start and their chemistry is explosive! Ember is learning more about the ranch and falling in love with her new life. But when secrets are revealed, Embers world is once again shattered when she thinks she's been played. This is a thrilling and heart-pounding story that kept me riveted and on a roller-coaster of emotions from beginning to end. I loved both Ember and Nash, they felt real and authentic and their relationship was so fun, beautiful, and passionate. They were so perfect for each other, from their love of the outdoors and Texas sunsets, to their fiery passion.
Stella Hunter, and Lance Greenfield were perfectly cast as Ember and Nash. They skillfully made these characters so clear to me, making me care for them quickly. Their inflections were breathtaking, and their chemistry was palpable. I was completely lost in their storytelling as they made this beautiful story even more irresistible!

This author has been on TBR list for a while now and now I can finally says I've read her and loved every minute of it.

I've started to read late in the evening with the famous words "just a chapter or two" and before I knew it it was 3am and I'd finished it. This story will suck you in from the get go. Ember has inherited a huge responsibility that she has 4 months to see if she'll keep it or sell it to the highest offer. So she doesn't need any distractions and boy oh boy was Nash a big one.
Together they were ignoring the elephant in the room but when secrets are revealed it almost breaks them apart. But the love they share is too powerful to ignore and shows them that at the end all that matters is having the ones you love close and safe.

Like said this is my first book by Beverly and I'm so happy to say I'm coming back for more.

I was gifted a code for this by the author, who was new to me. I've just finished listening to Catching Ember and I seriosuly loved it. Who wouldn't fall in love with Nash and the feisty Ember, they were made for each other. And I loved all the other characters around them, I thought that Stella Hunter was simply perfect as Ember, bringing all the emotions completely to life, Lance Greenfield isn't my favourite (sorry!) but he was great as Nash, but Stella stole the show!

I will definitely be reading/listening to more from Beverly Preston. I am so grateful for the opportunity to find another amazing new author.

New to me author and I enjoyed the story. I didn't immediately fall for Nash or Ember but they did grow on me. Nash stood out to me cause I couldn't figure out if he was the good guy or the bad guy. But I will say Nash and Ember have amazing chemistry. So much happens in this story that will keep you twisting around. The ending was really good and I enjoyed it.

Ember's life has just been upended. The father she never knew existed has passed and left her a huge legacy. His only wish was that she go live on that legacy (his ranch) for 4 months before she makes a decision about whether to sell it or not. Though she only met him once, she feels his spirit and is feeling connected to the people who live and work on the ranch. And there's an alpha to the core guy, Nash, whom she's falling for. Is Nash a good guy or a villain hiding in designer suits and boots? Can she stick around and find a home here on this land with Nash, with this tight circle of people who are like a family?

Nash is not the guy who does feelings, nor does he let anyone stand in his way when he wants something. So why is this free spirited innocent from California getting under his skin? Why is he letting himself get tangled up with the one woman who stands in the way of what he wants? Is he going to allow the feelings he's developing for her ruin everything he's been working towards? Is his heart going to lead the way or is he actually the bad guy a lot of people think he is?

Catching Ember is the kind of romance I like best - where the dialogue is witty and snarky, the chemistry is hot, the feelings are even stronger than the heat, and it was entertaining reading as the big, bad alpha was brought to his knees by a woman who's his opposite in almost every way.

Catching Ember
Written by: Beverly Preston

4.5 Stars

What does one do when stampeding Long Horns come your way? You hope that someone like Nash Harris is there to rescue you. Then you hope you get his number. What you don’t want is for him to get on a horse and leave you to regroup, but when you get to see that lovely behind and maybe not getting his number isn’t important because you got that memory for your naughty dreams.

Ember Thompson has inherited one of the biggest ranches in Texas, from a father she never knew. In his will he asks her to spend time there, see and learn about the ranch and then make a decision about selling it or keeping it. She agrees to spend the time there and she intends on learning what she can. She also wants to see more of Nash Harris but is his interest in the ranch or her? Agreements are made, dates are had and these two learn pretty quickly their attraction to each other is like a volcano getting ready to erupt and when Nash and Ember erupt there is smoke, there is fire and there are explosions!

As they trade secrets about their pasts and get closer there are a few people who may be looking to throw doubts around get them to part.

Author Beverly Preston gives us descriptions of the ranch that make you picture its beauty and grandeur and like Ember readers come to love the ranch. The nights spent under the stars, the things Ember experiences on the ranch make this story a joy to read.

Like many things someone outs something they believe Nash is involved with and the outcome could not only harm Ember but Nash as well.

This was a wonderful read; from stampedes to nights in a tree fort and a flash flood readers get action and romance. A great summer read with your ice tea nearby.

Beverly Preston is back with Catching Ember, proving she is better than ever. A book years in the making, I can honestly say that this is some of Preston's best work to date. An unexpected love that takes both Ember Thompson and Nash Harris by surprise, these two have a chemistry that could be felt from their very first meeting. One that is pure Texas, I loved that I could laugh with these two when things got tense as the newly-appointed owner of Walker Ranch fell hard and fast for the stubborn developer and he had his world turned on its proverbial head.

Ember has a strength that pulls her through when her life is upended and she has to leave the calm shores of Malibu, California for the gritty existence of her late father's ranch in dusty Texas. The product of a one-night stand, she has a spirit that is addictive and what entices the hardened Nash from the moment they literally are thrown together. Nash's initial interest in Ember is suspect but I absolutely adored the way he couldn't help but fall for the spiritual beauty thwarting his original plans to take her ranch right from under her nose.

There is a poignancy to this story as Ember can only read journal entries and talk to those closest to her father, to understand fully the man she never had the chance to meet. But her fire is all Walker despite having a more intuitive side, thanks to her free-spirited mother. The chance to become a true rancher is overwhelming but I was in awe of how Ember tackled anything and everyone who dared get in her way. Including the extremely sexy Nash.

Overall, this is a truly beautiful story full of hope, a bit of regret, and most importantly a love that was truly fated from the start. With wonderful secondary characters including a member of the Mathews clan as an ally when Ember needed her most, I couldn't love this book more if I tried. Honored to be a beta reader for this talented author, I'm truly thrilled that she is back and writing the heartfelt stories we have all come to know and love.

Loving that I got to laugh, sigh, and even shed a tear or two, I happily give Catching Ember a big 5 stars!!

First I just want to say that I adore Beverly Preston if you don't know her and her family's story you need to. This book Catching Ember will make you feel like you are part of the story and their love. Nash Harris has worked his butt off to get where he is today. All he wants is the land next to his family so that he can have it all. One problem the neighbor's daughter is now the new owner. Ember didn't even know her father and now for the next few months, she is to learn all that she can about ranching and either keep the ranch or sell it off. Easy right? Nope, not at all. Ember is a beautiful soul and does whatever she can to learn the ins and outs. When other's are trying to stop her she will fight. What she didn't realize is the one man that she has been falling for will be her biggest rival. When it all comes to blows can Nash convince Ember that he loves her and not the ranch or will she walk away? Fall in love with ranching, cowboys, and Ember.

Oh my goodness what a story!!! I have so missed Beverly Preston’s storytelling, so this was long awaited. I can absolutely say that it was worth the wait, because Ember and Nash were a phenomenal coupling!! They had the most original meet cute ever, that was both scary, embarrassing and hot as all get out!! Initially I couldn’t decide if Nash was a good guy, a bad guy or just somewhere in between; but dang the chemistry between them was HOT!

This story covered so many things. Dropped so many tidbits for stories I wanna read, hello Travis! Plus you got JC and Reed from Surviving Broken appearing throughout since they had connections to both Ember & Nash. I loved every aspect of this story, all the twists and turns. All the romance. All the sexiness. All the emotions. All the things I’ve loved in a BP book!

I haven’t read anything by Beverly Preston previously, but I am adding JC & Reeds book to my TBR now. You don’t NEED to read their book, but if you like to know about characters that are together in new books & have their own previously published, you can read their story in Surviving Broken.

When looking, I found out this was her first book in a few years. It was a great debut back into the romance world. The banter with all of the characters was one of my favorites. Not to mention HOT Texas cowboys with dirty mouths? Who can say no to that?

This was about Ember & Nash. Ember has something left to her that Nash wants. In the end they both come out winners with more than they could’ve expected.

Nash has worked his behind off in his career, and now he's on the cusp of finally making all his dreams come true, however, there's a very big complication, Ember. She's not down with his plans despite the fact that she's wildly attracted to him, but she knows that if she goes there, she could lose. These two people are highly entertaining together with all the hilarious banter with the sparks flying, and there's no doubt that they'll light the sheets on fire once it becomes too much to deny, so just a matter of time. I'm not a huge fan of cowboys, and I definitely have some issues with many things in Texas LOL, but I still really enjoyed Catching Ember so now it's your turn. Hit those one click buttons because I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Another amazing read, a fantastic addition to the collection of stories by Beverly Preston. Loved all of the new character additions and getting to revisit with JC and Reed from "Surviving Broken." There is a pretty standard flow to most romances but what makes it amazing are the details. In this story I loved the surprise of the bull stampede, the tree on the Harris ranch, the entire scene of the flood and the details about ranching. Highly recommend this book and the entire collection of stories that are all intertwined but can be enjoyed as stand alones.

Author Beverly Preston is back, and she’s given us the gift of this wonderful story of finding family. Ember is a beautiful free spirit, at Walker Ranch to settle an inheritance. Nash grew up next door and would like to expand his holdings. From a stampede to a flash flood, this story is full of excitement, emotion, and heat. I really enjoyed the storyline, the characters, and the setting. I also enjoyed the crossover - seeing JC and Reed was fun!

CATCHING EMBER by Beverly Preston is the First book in the Buckle Up Series. This is the story of Ember Thompson and Nash Harris. Ember has inherited a ranch from a father she didn't know. This leads her to meet Nash. Nash is attracted to Ember but he may have other reason for wanting her or so it appears at first. This is a big change for Ember but one she is going to try even though things don't go easy. This is the first book I have read by this author but I do plan on reading more of her books soon.

I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end. The story was full fire, romance and so many heartwarming moments. My emotions were all over the place, but it’s a ride I would take over and over again. The author created extremely beautiful and lovable characters; and their chemistry was off the charts right from the beginning. Watching Ember find her strength and learn to trust herself, and seeing Nash being knocked on his tush by Ember gave me the warm fuzzies!!!

You cannot go wrong with anything this author writes, this book is another great example of her talent.

I received an advanced copy of this book, in return for an honest review; which I have provided above.
