At eighteen, Archer Blackwood broke my heart. At twenty-seven, his dad just broke my bed.
It’s not like I planned to fall into bed with Reece Blackwood.
Not when I ran into him at a dive bar for the first time in years. Not when I sent him my résumé after torching my life in one spectacular, wine-fueled spiral. Not even when this cold, brutally handsome CEO looked at me like he wanted to ruin me.
He should’ve sent me away. Instead, he hired me.
Now I’m his assistant. He’s my off-limits obsession. And every stolen glance, every breathless moment behind closed doors makes it harder to pretend we’re not one misstep from disaster.
He’s intense. Untouchable. Twenty years older and twice as guarded.
I tell myself I’m doing this for the plot. That it’s just a quarter-life crisis. That I won’t catch real feelings.
But under that sharp suit and ruthless control is a man who watches me like he’s starving. A man who kisses me like he’s breaking every rule for the first time in years. A man who tells me I wreck him—and means it.
I swore I’d keep things professional. But we’re way past that now.
What we have is messy. Addictive. Dangerous. Because when the truth comes out, it won’t just blur the lines—we’ll obliterate them.
Is he just a plot twist in my story… or the ending I never saw coming?

Alexis Winter is a contemporary romance author who loves to share her steamy stories with the world. She specializes in sexy billionaires, cocky alphas, brooding bad boys and the women they love.

When Alexis isn't writing away furiously, you can find her exploring the Rocky Mountains, traveling, enjoying a glass of wine or petting a cat.
Hmmm, how to start this? I went blindly in here because I'm in the mood for something scandalous, and I thought the "ex's father" trope would definitely deliver that. 😂
I expected the push-and-pull and "will they, won't they" attitude because one of the MCs needed to be sensible, and in this case, it happens to be the MMC. While this had the insta-lust going on from the get-go, Reece (49) and Skye (27) only acted on their mutual attraction past the halfway mark. And the first half was full of tension, flirtations, and sometimes unprofessional behavior (because she's his temporary assistant). I enjoyed this part because I'm curious about when they'll finally snap, and if they do, what will happen to the plot then?
So, they finally gave in around the 51% mark, I think. I thought this was going to be the start of something good for them. But after they hooked up, Reece pulled away again, feeling that guilt creeping in (his son didn't know he hired his ex), and he still couldn't quite wrap his head around how deep his feelings for her really were. But when he finally realized he couldn't stay away any longer, they both agreed to keep things going, but with the understanding that they'd never mix it with work.
Everything was going smoothly for a while, but in these kinds of stories, we all know the son is going to find out the truth eventually. That time came, and that scene was definitely a disaster. I really think Reece could've handled that situation a bit better, but I get that he was conflicted and the emotions were running high. I still feel like he should've anticipated that. I mean, he cannot hide Skye forever if he wants to have a relationship with her. Again, I somehow understood him, but that didn’t mean I had to be okay with it.
Obviously, there's a third-act breakup, and it wasn't even clear how long it lasted. It was mentioned that weeks passed by, but the details were not clear. I think this is the part where my interest dampened. Because for someone who claims to have fallen in love with Skye, Reece going weeks without talking or even apologizing to her really didn’t seem to back that up.
He said he was protecting her and his son, which is why he didn't reach out to her during those weeks. But I think that was just an excuse because he's afraid to face his feelings. Idk, I guess I'm just used to MMCs who go after what they want, and the way he's acting makes him seem a bit beta to me.
But once he spoke with his son and cleared things out, he finally decided to win Skye back.
Appreciation for groveling is obviously subjective. I, for one, needed a more elaborate scheme to compensate for the hurt caused by his actions. He needed to show Skye just how much she meant to him and prove that he was willing to change for the better.
She said she wanted to be wooed, and Reece agreed on that, but this "wooing/groveling" didn't even last for two weeks, I think??? 🤷♀️ If I'm being honest, he wouldn't need to try any harder because she was more than ready to give him another chance the moment he showed up on her doorstep. She loves him that much.
I'm not saying Reece didn't feel the same way for her, but the fact is, he still hurt her by not choosing her. And imo, less than two weeks isn't enough for a decent grovel. He should've put in more effort to earn her forgiveness. 🤷♀️ But alas, Skye is definitely 100% way better than me.
I really can't say when love came into the picture, if I'm being honest, because most of their thoughts and interactions were mostly driven by lust. 🫣 But apparently they did fall in love, so… 🤷♀️
Anyway, I did like the controversial (taboo?? forbidden??) aspect and the first half of the book. But the last quarter lessened my interest, and I wish things hadn't turned out the way they did.
Book info: - Safe - Age gap (22) - Ex’s father - Widower MMC - Insta-lust - Workplace romance - No cheating, OM/OW - No V - Separation (weeks, not sure how long) - HEA (5 yrs later, happily married and childfree)
Notes: - Reece had been celibate since his late wife died (14 years). He also didn't sleep around before he got married. He did love his wife, and the reason he didn't move on was that he saw it as a betrayal to her. He thought that if he moved on, it would mean letting her go and losing the last piece of her. But this thought wasn't thrown in the book; he only said this when he finally had his conversation with his son. You can really see how much he loved her, but it was also different from the love he has for Skye. I don't think there should be any comparisons, and she certainly didn't come across as second best. - Skye and his son dated a decade ago. They broke up after she caught him in the act. But she never told anyone that he cheated on her. Despite the hurt, she still somehow protected him because she loved him way back then. - The MCs were both the relationship type of people, and I think this makes them so good together. - This has the cliche trope of her never getting any good O from her previous relationships, but of course, with the MMC, that's not a freaking problem.
Author Alexis Winter is back with a new release from herChicago Billionairesseries. Book 8For The Plotfollows the story of Skye Rhodes and Reece Blackwood through their dual narrative in this Age Gap, Forced Proximity, Forbidden Taboo, Workplace Romance.
When it came to the story, it was the chemistry between Skye and Reece that had you gripped in being Hot, Spicy and palpable to say the least, given the constant growing sexual tension that seep out in every interaction between the two. Which is why it is safe say their chemistry played a heavy factor in carrying the story for me with keeping me pushing onwards. From their witty banter in their playful yet tension building moments, they both knew the game they were playing. And most definitely gave it good and hard to each other (no pun intended). Always burning from the flames being stoked.
Even though I usually enjoy Alexis Winter books, even when it comes to her Slow Burns. Unfortunately in this case, it just wasn’t working for me. Not only did the wordiness make the story feel longer and slow moving, it also didn’t help that it took reading at least 50% of the book for the story to actual take off in my opinion. Something I wasn’t the biggest fan of, despite usually being a fan of even the slowest of slow burns.
While it was funny and hot AF watching Skye and Reece's interaction within their budding relationship grow and pave towards physicality, considering how the two went about it at times. Particularly Skye from her constant instigating and poking the bear that was Reece. I couldn’t help but feel there should’ve been more showcased towards it. Not to say what was already delivered wasn’t good. But it made their relationship lack substance, since IMO it was mostly showcased as just being physical with not much else to it.
For The Plotmay have had its ups and downs, hence why my rating keeps changing from 3⭐️ to 4⭐️ and back again. It didn't stop it from being a good read in the end to me. And I have to say I liked the epilogue author Alexis Winter included at the end, with being funny and unexpected in what showcased.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Age is Just a Number Where Love is Concerned - Skye’s best friend tried to get her out of the funk she was in by suggesting a one night stand, but she was shocked when the person her best friend chose was none other than her ex-boyfriend’s gorgeous dad. Reece was just looking to have a quiet night in a bar when he met his son’s high school girlfriend who sent his heart into overdrive, but his conscience wouldn’t allow him to do anything about his attraction. Even though Reece knew it was a bad idea, he offered her a job working with him when he found out about her circumstances.
Working closely together was really productive, but awkward, because their attraction for each other continued growing, whilst they tried everything to maintain a professional relationship. However, all bets were off when they went on a business trip and there was nothing to hinder them crossing the boundaries. One touch turned the night into a mind blowing pleasurable experience, which leads to an ongoing dalliance between them in and outside the office.
Unfortunately, everything came crushing down when Reece’s son walked in on them in a compromising position and he made a decision that led to his breakup with Skye. Whilst Reece realised he had destroyed his relationship with both his son and Skye, he decided to take the time to clear up the mess with his son, so he could have the courage to pursue a relationship with her openly. Skye on the other hand didn’t make it easy for Reece when he came to get her back, but he was finally able to convince her to give them a second chance at getting the happiness they deserved.
This book was fantastic read, with engaging characters, interesting drama filled moments, funny laugh out loud moments and enough passionate encounters, that had me hooked from the beginning and kept me enthralled all the way through to the end. You will find yourself unable to take a break once you start reading this book.

Let me start by saying, this book had me feral. Skye Rhodes is feeling down after being let go from her job and being dumped in a matter of weeks. An opportunity falls into her lap in the form of a sexy, older CEO, that just so happens to be her ex’s father. Skye is so relatable and has an amazing best friend named Maya, who feeds into all of her unhinged thoughts. It reminded me of my own best friend and I.
There is an immediate banter and tension between Skye and Reece when she starts working for him. The switch in POVs keep you wondering what the other is thinking and then immediately rewards you with it. They both understand each other on a deeper level. The smut is also TOP TIER. Heavy on the ‘good girl’ and ‘talks you through it’.
Skye is my favorite FMC that I’ve read in awhile. She is the epitome of a confident badass business woman that knows her worth, but can also have anxiety and self-deprecating thoughts. She’s so real!
Final thoughts: I want an emotionally unavailable older man to ruin me… and… If you have daddy issues, this is the book for you!
“And hey, if the opportunity arises to screw your ex’s dad, then hell yes. Do it for the plot.”
Tropes: Ex Boyfriend’s Dad, Boss/Assistant.

For the Plot is part of the Chicago Billionaires series. It is the 8th in the series but is a standalone. This story features Skye and Reese. Skyes heart was broke by Archer Reeses son when they were younger. Years later she's in a bar drowning her sorrows with her best friend when shes dared to have a bit of fun with a stranger. Turns out he isnt a stranger but Reese Archers dad. He is instantly attracted to her and offers her a job as his assistant. He tries to fight his attraction to her but it's impossible.
I really enjoyed this age gap office romance story. The energy between Reese and Skye is amazing. They can't stay away from each other. Fantastic series, definitely recommend.
Wow! 👏🏻👏🏻 this was such a good story! It surprised me and went in a direction I did not think it would go in. I was expecting Reece to be ruthless, cold and distanced. He definitely wasn’t that, at least in a way I thought he would be. In his own struggles, he was distant when he felt the situation called for it, and open in other ways, more so then not. The fact that even though this had a slow burn feel to it, the story really wasn’t. It consisted of Reece not losing control around Skye and even though he tried, he still couldn’t stop his flirty comments, innuendo and draw to her. I enjoyed reading about Skye poking the bear if I had to think of an analogy to describe a big part of this story. At first it was crazy for me to comprehend a 20 year age gap between the two of them but I’ve read worse. Then, as the story went on, it started to make more sense and pretty soon the age difference blurred and it was just two people who connected, had chemistry and off the charts spice. The age difference didn’t play a factor in this, it never does. However, in other books I’ve read, you can feel the difference in the age and generation gap between them. Forbidden Kisses by Layla Hagen did that but in this one you felt the maturity in Skye and how she carried herself. The last age gap book I read, the heroine was still clubbing, still drinking consistently and didn’t have an established job. Skye did in this one and had professional experience so that put her on a maturity level that was different than the last. I also liked the fact that she didn’t seem destroyed by her previous relationships and kept getting together with men even though Archer broke her heart the hardest. I also liked how there was a lot of self reflection going on in this book, both from Skye and Reece. Skye realizing she was worth more and Reece making up for his mistakes with Archer and how he handled his feelings for Skye. Yet, through all this, the book had a very whimsical and dreamy feel to it. The description of the city, the two homes, and how their lives felt when they were apart with Reece noticing it before he started catching desire and feelings for Skye. It provided a whole different meaning to having it all but missing something. This is especially true in Reece and I loved how his vulnerability was captured that way. Out of all the billionaire books I’ve read, this was one of the few that addresses loneliness with money and it did something to me. I appreciated that very much with this story and I wish more of the billionaire books did that. Most of them describe the hero as untouchable, ruthless and no vulnerabilities. In this book, Reece pretty much lays it all out, whether that’s in the chapters with his point of view or talking with Skye and Archer. It was nice to have him be so human while also having a cockiness and confidence when it came to knowing how to please a woman and enjoying it. Then there was the times the story was playing with every single cliche office fantasy you can think of. To me, that was the icing on the cake. You had Skye acting like the cliche assistant and treating every moment she goes to him in his office as some sort of seduction and also from afar so she can drive him crazy. I liked that the book had that because while some other books do play with those fantasies, I felt like this one captures them all and this added to appeal and excitement of the story. Then, as the book ends and it shows Reece doing all he can to win Skye back, I’m glad it wasn’t a big gesture like most of these books do. He took his time to win her back, made her fall in love with him all over again if you will. It was also at this point that Skye realizes her worth and wants Reece back but makes him work for it and he all but obliges. This was different than what I’ve read in previous books and I liked that this one finishes it off that way. Instead of the book ending in marriage, it fast forwards to 5 years later and captures how Reece and Skye are doing and their state of mind they are in and how their relationship is going. It also shows where Reece and Skye are at with Archer and how he handles them being together. This was a great way to close the story out and I’m happy it didn’t end in marriage, it just states they are married now and forgoes all the proposal and ceremony details which was nice because I feel like you don’t always need this at the end of the books. The most important thought at the end of this story was if they were going to be ok as a family when Archer is added to the mix. This was Reece’s concern and some would say even Skye’s even though she is over with the way things ended between them. You get closure from him and how he felt when he cheated on her and why. I feel like this book dealt with a lot of healing and coming to terms with things as well as filling the void money cannot buy. I am so happy with how this book turned out and I wonder if any more Chicago Billionaire books are in the works for Alexis because this one was amazing!

Reece and Skye’s ex’s dad romance makes for a reading good time! It’s more than just an ex’s dad romance though. In addition, you can expect billionaire, boss x employee, secret (forbidden) relationship, age gap, and some love after loss vibes. There’s also a good dose of page melting steam to keep you entertained.
I feel like I really got to know our main characters. Reece is an alpha male but is a decent guy too and thankfully without the all-too-common playboy ways. He acts his age and definitely has that air of maturity about him but he’s a little broken too. He makes mistakes (past and present) but is not above a good grovel and working to earn back the trust and relationships that suffer because of them. Then there is Skye. She comes across as so real and someone that I can empathize with. (Hello, anxiety sweats!) Skye is emotionally unmoored, a little irreverent, a lot chaotic but also witty and funny. There isn’t an overabundance of side characters in this story but Maya is a gem. Everyone needs a BFF like Maya. She is supportive without judgment but also won’t let you lie to yourself. Maya was a great addition to the cast of characters and brings a note of levity to the story.
I also find the plot to be interesting and engaging in this one. The tension between Reece and Skye is absolutely alive and delicious; the yearning is real; and there is an inevitable pull between them. I was rooting for the characters both as individuals and as a couple. The conversations and interactions between Reece and Skye were meaningful and highlight their deepening connection. The forbidden aspect of their relationship is handled in a gratifying way as well.
With all the good this one has, there is still a little that left me wanting. Archer hangs around the periphery of the story like a ghost in the beginning and feels a little underdeveloped. He mainly serves as a plot device where I feel like he could have played a bigger and better role. The writing style feels redundant at times also. Some of the phrases, ideas and power plays come across as repetitive. Make no mistake, there is a nice and satisfying glimpse at Skye and Reece’s HEA but I still have lingering questions. One such question is that we don’t know where Skye lands professionally. I have it on good authority that a few of these things may have been rectified after my initial read of this so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this read with its journey of love, self-discovery and embracing of the unexpected. Fans of age gap, forbidden (ex’s dad), and billionaire romance should definitely consider adding this to their TBR list.
Skye Rhodes was eighteen and Archer Blackwood was nineteen. They were getting ready to go to college. It was Archer’s second year and Skye’s first year. One night during first semester, Archer sounded distant. Skye knew something was off. He was supposedly at the library for a study group. Lately, he had been spending less time with Skye. She goes to search for him at his fraternity house. There is a party going on. Skye goes upstairs and hears Archer’s voice behind a closed door. She then hears another voice, a feminine one. Skye opens the door to find a blonde straddling a semi-naked Archer. He broke her heart.
Now, she is twenty-seven and back home. In the last three weeks, she got dumped by her boyfriend, Shane and was laid off from her job. She and Maya, her college roommate and best friend, are at a dive bar celebrating Maya’s promotion. Maya tells Skye that she needs a plot twist in her life. Since Maya knows that Skye thinks older men are sexy, she suggests finding a silver fox to have a fling. Maya points out a sexy, older man sitting at the bar. When Skye looks, she realizes that it is Reece Blackwood, Archer’s father. Maya convinces Skye to at least go over and say hello.
Reece Blackwood built Blackwood Ventures while grieving the death of his wife and trying to raise Archer. He needs a temporary assistant while his assistant, Leann, is on maternity leave for at least four months. After chatting with Skye, he decides to stop by their table as he is leaving. He gives Skye his business card with his cell phone number on the back and offers the temporary position. He tells her that he knows she is capable, and it would save him from going through a bunch of resumes. Skye thinks about it and decides to take the job. She figures she can use the four months to figure out what to do next with her life.
The attraction between Skye and Reece crackled on the pages. She knew him before he made it big and became a billionaire. He knew her as a young high school girl. I loved how they interacted with each other. I was also waiting to find out how Archer would react when he found out the Skye was working for his father.
This series is so addictive and in this standalone, Alexis Winter manages to draw out the suspense until it reaches fever pitch. Sky's high school boyfriend, Archer Blackwood, was all her dreams rolled into one, the one that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with...........until she caught him cheating, leaving her broken hearted. That was ten years ago and Skye was still looking for Mr. Right. On a drunken, drown your sorrows following yet another breakup, night out with her friend Maya she spots a ruggedly handsome silver fox, encouraged by Maya to take one for the plot Skye realizes that she is playing with fire, the man in question is the billionaire father of the boy that she lost her heart and everything else to ten years ago. There is an instant attraction between the two of them, both know that they are playing a dangerous game but that didn't stop Reece from offering her a temping job as his assistant. Skye is beautiful, sassy and confident, all his staff like her, her teasing and flirting is torture for him, Reece has put his heart and soul into his business since the death of his wife when Archer was six years old, Reece has never looked at another woman, Reece commanded respect but kept himself aloof, how long could he hold out ? he couldn't follow this path, she was twenty years younger than him, she was his son's first love. This is a beautifully written, engaging , emotional story with wonderful characters. Every girl should have a friend like Maya to have her back no matter what, a mother who loves you and gives advise from the heart and a man like Reece to complete the plot. I received a free copy of this book and my review is totally voluntary.
OMG!, How I have missed the men in the Chicago Billionaire series.
Reece and Skye's story has literally took the number 2 spot hands down behind Beg For It. I love a good Age Gap, forbidden, workplace romance and this one was so so so so freaking good.
Basically Skye used to date Reece's son in high school, and they ended up breaking up in her first year of college. fast forward 10 years later, she's recently single again and unemployed. Skye is at a bar with a friend where she runs into Reece and they briefly catch up (instant chemistry on both parts), and before Reece leaves for the night he offers Skye his card and mentions to call him as he needs a new assistant.
This is where the fun begins. They start off very professional, the tension is there but with her ex being his son(Archer) thus is the meaning of Reece being hesitant about acting on his impulses. On top of that he doesn't tell his Archer that he has hired his ex girlfriend and let's just say when Archer finds out the truth its already too late.
The dirty talk on Reece is ummm dirty. Skye has some dirty talk as well, she is a women who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to say it. So when the two of them can't fight the tension anymore let's just say things got explosive, oh he might've also broken her bed in one of their times together and I loved reading every single word of it.
I really hope this isn't the last book in The Chicago Billionaires series as I can read about dirty talking, possessive, older men every single day.

This is the kind of book you pick up for the title and stay for the sheer fun of it all. Alexis Winter has crafted a sizzling story that fully leans into its delicious premise, delivering a spicy and laugh-out-loud good time. It’s a book that has you hooked from the first page, and for all the right reasons.
One of the best parts of this novel is the dynamic cast. Not only are the sex scenes absolutely incredible, but the characters themselves are immediately lovable. The author nails the "daddy vibes" and makes the connections feel genuine, especially when the main couple has to work through things. It's a huge bonus that they actually communicate, which is a refreshing change of pace in a romance novel. The ex doesn't handle the revelation of the secret romance well, but he doesn't stand in the way of the main characters' happiness. When he messes up, the MMC not only recognizes his mistake but actively goes out of his way to make amends and set things right with the FMC. Plus, a huge shoutout to the FMC's bestie, who deserves her own spin-off!
The humor in this book is top-notch. The meta-memes about plot and main character energy had me giggling out loud, showing that the author knows her audience and isn't afraid to have fun with the tropes.
Overall, this is a must-read for anyone who loves a fun, fiery, and well-developed romance. The characters, the humor, and the incredible heat make this a book you won’t want to put down, and I'll definitely be picking up more from this author in the future!.

3.75 / 4 ⭐️ “And I can’t lose her. Because when I’m near her, I feel something I haven’t felt in decades. Like maybe I could be whole again. Like maybe I’m not past saving.” ❤️
Tropes Billionaire romance Boss x assistant Ex’s dad Mutual pining/longing, but fights more than she does Spicy office romance He grovels and woos
I’ve been in a bit of a slump, but I enjoyed this. There were some pages that skimmed through but over all this was a pretty solid read. Reese and Skye were very cute together. I liked the longing between them and Reese was stressing me with how much he was trying to fight it lol. He knew he loved that girl and I wanted him to hurry up and allow himself to be happy again. He was sweet, romantic, protective, and just down bad for her. Reese was a very dominant man, in the best ways, but I actually loved that Skye was more of the dominant one when it came to them being together and giving it a chance. The spice was spiiiiiiiiiicing and I loved his groveling and wooing. The son was irritating.. how are you that mad when you cheated on her and lost her because of your own doing .. over 10 years ago.. and are currently in a relationship and about to propose to your girlfriend lol. He had some nerve if you ask me. I loved her friend Maya and I can’t wait to read her book. The pacing over all was decent but I wish we would’ve gotten to see him propose to her instead of the story cutting off like that and then jumping to 5 years ahead and they are already married
Alexis Winter is back with another book in the Chicago Billionaires series with For the Plot, a sexy and taboo boss/employee romance that is not only rocking the age gap trope but with an added twist.
This book can 100% be read as a stand alone. Despite being a part of a series the books are not actually interconnected in any way.
Skye's life has been turned upside down but her life gets just a bit more tilted when she finds herself attracted to the silver fox across the bar- that just so happens to be the father of her high school sweetheart and first heartbreak. So she not only finds herself insanely attracted to Reece Blackwell but she also finds herself agreeing to be his assistant while his is out on maternity leave.
The attraction, lust and general heat of this book is phenomenal. Reece is in a constant battle of will with his own conscious and body when it comes to Skye. And she does not make it any easier as she loves to flirt and just toe the line of what may be appropriate with him. But when that line is crossed... well, you just might want to have a cold drink handy 😉
I was a little disappointed with the development of the feelings between Skye and Reece. These two obviously spend a lot of time together in a professional setting and Reece welcomes Skye into his personal space more than he does with most people but I was left feeling like the transition from just lust and attraction to declarations of love was a little abrupt and would have loved to see a little more development between these two outside of their flirty banter and heated glances.
That ending in the epilogue though was just perfection. It was sweet, funny and I love the way that the relationships between this unlikely "family" plays out.
For the Plot is a very well-written and page-turning story. I loved it so much and could not put it down. The characters were amazing. I've always enjoyed an age gap romance and this one did not disappoint.
Skye and her best friend are sitting in a bar. Skye has lost her job and her boyfriend. Her friend suggests she find a man to rebound with. She notices a very attractive older man. She can hardly believe it but she is seeing Reece. He is the father of the man who cheated on her in high school. She decides to go over and speak to him. He remembers who she is and she tells him about her job situation. He is in need of a personal assistant so he gives her his business card and asks that she call him about the job. Skye is surprised and decides to call him. She goes in for the interview and he hires her for the job. Reece doesn't think it's a good idea to hire her because of his attraction to her but knows she needs the job. The more they spend time together the more their attraction grows. What will happen when Reece's son, Skye's ex, finds out about their relationship?
I love the chemistry was between Reece and Skye. They knew that their attraction was forbidden with the age gap and the fact that she had dated his son years before. Skye was such a strong person. Reece was so good to her.
I look forward to more from this talented author.

Steamy, age-gap, billionaire romance with tension off the charts The book opens ten years in the past when Archer Blackwood at 19yo breaks up with long-time girlfriend 18yo Skye Rhodes. Archer is a sophomore while Skye is at the same college but a freshman. She catches him in a compromising situation and a lie. Fast-forward ten years and Skye is getting over another breakup; Skye and her best friend from college Maya go out to a bar to forget about men. Skye sees a hot older man at the other end of the bar, realizes he is Archer’s father, Reece, a self-made billionaire and Maya pushes her to have a one-night stand. The one-night stand does not happen but so much does in this fast-paced ultra steamy age-gap romance. Afterall, Reece is 22 years older than Skye! If you like your leading man to be an alpha dirty-talking billionaire with an angsty backstory and falling in lust for a girl his son used to date, you really want to read this book. The author says about Reece Blackwood that he would make her squirm; he may have just done more than that for me. Whew! Ms. Winter can write some of the most risqué characters and dialogue for them to say or think. I must also add that this author can choose the hottest book covers. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout.
I came across this book on IG and the book cover caught my attention. Went to check the tropes and that was it. I messaged a few friends that enjoy these tropes, and we jumped to it. This book came with heartbreak, obsession, lust, and the tension between these two main characters was unreal. I kept telling my book besties, that these two need to get together already because it's too much tension.
This is an age gap, Ex's dad story. The FMC, Skye, is going through a moment in her life where nothing is going right. She has lost her job and broken up with a boyfriend within a week span and to get away from it she goes to a local bar to have a drink with her best friend. As they talk and discuss the future they catch a glimpse of a very handsome older gentleman. It has been years since Skye has seen Reece. They do recognize each other and have a normal conversation of how they've been. Reece does end up inviting Skye to apply for a position as his assistant where the plot begins.
Overall, I ate this book up. I enjoy all the tropes and the taboo aspect of it being her Ex's dad. I enjoyed the story, the plot, the ending. I enjoyed the way the MMC is so in love with the FMC and he is willing to go beyond to get her. Download the book and enjoy a night in with these two. They don't disappoint and will have you wanting more if this author when you're done.
Let me just start by saying I was not expecting the turn this story took. Completely unpredictable and a great surprise. I caught myself smiling and swooning throughout the book. Some age-gap ex's dad stories are cringy and I have gotten the ick in the past but NOT this one. It was fun, flirty, and tastefully written while also being steamy. Did I giggle and kick my feet? 100%
Tropes: Ex's dad Age-gap Billionaire boss Workplace romance Spicy Dual POV
Skye was a very likable character. I like that she's not insecure. She's funny, witty, and hardworking. She's pretty brash and her lack of filter had me laughing.
Reece is refreshing for a billionaire hottie. He's not the typical mysterious grump. He's kind, has a good sense of humor, and of course, is built like a Greek god. He gave good pining.
I loved the build-up to their relationship and the attraction that grew between them as they got to know each other. Their back and forth was so good, like a dance.
“...you don’t understand what it would feel like to have a man like me come completely undone for a woman like you.”
I eagerly ate this book up. I loved the drama, the steam, the romance. It all had my rapt attention and I flew through the pages to find out what happened next. Fantastic well well-earned HEA.
Wonderful story. Skye was drowning her sorrows in a bar with her best friend Maya having lost her job & split from her boyfriend but when Maya talks her into going to talk to the hot guy at the bar only it isn't just any hot guy. Turns out the hot guy is Reece the dad of her ex who broke her heart years ago. Having a drink together she tells him about her job & without thinking he offers her a job which she's in two minds but accepts. Whilst working together there is a lot of flirting & seriously hot sexual chemistry between them but he keeps holding back because of his son. Eventually thought they cannot deny their feelings any longer but never out publicly & it all comes to ahead when they are discovered by Archer. Reece is scared of Archer's reaction & pushes Skye away breaking her heart again but I'm not too sure whether Reece wants to be with her or whether he is worthy of her love if it is still available to him. Once you start reading you won't want to put it down it will have you smiling, laughing, flushing when thing get very steamy but also almost tearing up feeling sorry for Skye .

An age gap story in the Chicago Billionaires series. Skye is in a bar drowning her sorrows, she has lost both her job and boyfriend. She comes across Reece, father of an ex way back when and her drunken self flirts with him outrageously. Having told Reece her woes he offers her a temporary job and the mutual attraction is impossible to ignore, even in the office. Both have concerns about the fact she is his son Asher's ex but the heat drawing the pair together is impossible to ignore. I love Alexis's books and this is no exception with one small but. As expected there is heat and spice in bucket loads and I can't believe I am saying this, I have deducted One Star because for me there was too much. The story got lost at times in the constant back and forth between Reece and Skye, should they shouldn't they, how do I get his attention, then pages of said attraction within which the plot seemed to lose it's way. The final reveal at the end between Reece, Asher and Skye was really good and I thought written well. This is again a great book from Alexis, I stand by my, the story got lost in the smut at times, but still a great read. Looking forward to where Alexis takes us next.
I loved this story! The characters in this story jump off the pages and get your heart pumping, your body tingling and your lips quivering. It’s uncharted territory, unexpected, intoxicating connection but they don’t seem to know what has hit them! You will feel the sizzle, the steam, the passion and the heat. It is hot and spicy, sexy and passionate. It makes for a truly dynamite read! Reese is a CEO and he is having a drink in a dimly light bar. He is sharp, composed, confident and has a quiet authority as he sits at the bar. How do I know him? I use to date his son. Skye is currently unemployed. She is feisty, sassy, wild, chaos, outrageous humor, gorgeous, very intelligent and sometimes talks before she thinks; which makes things very interesting. This is a love story filled with chaos, uncertainty, guilt and possibilities. Quote from the book: “You know without what-ifs or half-finished pages. That’s the gift of loving someone honestly, Skye. Even if it doesn’t work, at least you know you gave it your whole heart. You need someone who already knows you’re it.” Fantastic!.

MFC Skye Rhodes is working her way through a couple of bad weeks at a bar with her bestie Maya after being laid off and a boyfriend breakup. For the Plot soon becomes a delicious Billionaire age-gap romance by author Alexis Winter whose stories I enjoy! When Maya tells Skye what she really needs to lift her mood and points out a silver fox seated in a corner by himself, Skye is surprised to recognize her high school ex’s dad MMC Reece Blackwood. Going over to say hello leads to a temporary job offer and her soon to be obsession after becoming his assistant. No way are their interactions going to remain professional and I was looking forward to when it all hit the fan and Reese was so very, very, close the tension was palpable. This was a story that wrecks you and then puts you back together again and I loved every word, emotion, the writing, drama, characters, vulnerabilities, and passion that delivered one heck of a good read which led to the perfect HEA.

This book was just okay for me. There were things I really liked: the age gap, a confident FMC, a MMC that wasn’t living a player lifestyle, the slow burn. But there is so much repetition! Literally, the first half of the book has Skye calling her best friend Maya every day, sometimes multiple times per day, to reiterate every moment that has passed between her and Reece - and guess what? We, the reader, already know! We’ve not only read every interaction and conversation they’ve had, we have also read lengthy introspectives Skye has about what is going on between them. It just seemed like a lot of filler to me. There was also very few changes of scene, or supporting characters outside of three people for most of the book. And time was obscured, like did Skye work for Reece for weeks or months before taking their relationship to the next level? How long before they reunited? What was happening around them? Does Reece have any friends or confidants? It was like they lived in a vacuum, apart from any real place in time.
Man, was I in th emod for a Romance!! “For the Plot” more than deliverd!!! Hot and sweaty and emotional and Angsty. Just wat the Romance DR ordered.
I burnt the midnight candle for this one. (well worth the bleary eyed version of me today !! ) Skye had me in tears a few times. My heart broke for the girl. Most of us will recognise the things she goes trought and it was put on paper in such a way that it littereally cracked my heart!
Dont fret… I was put togehter again , better than before.
The Plot.. cough cough.. was HOT lols.. Reece definitly know how to Alpha Billionaire very well.
“She used to look at him like he hung the stars. Now she looks at me like I might burn the whole sky down. And I’m about two seconds from letting her hand me the matches.”
Tropes you will want to know about. -Serious daddy vibes -He broke the bed… (yes in THAT way..) -Serious groveling -Ex’s Dad..
Now this is what I enjoy in books where SO many of my favorite tropes are represented! I was hooked into the book from the get go. I will say if I had one complaint it’s that it took too long for them to give in and be together. I’d love to have seen more on the page of them together and growing and Skye getting to advance her career with Reece’s help.
The will they/wont they, push pull, oh he backed off again because he’s scared was done soooo good!! I usually hate 3rd act breakups because they typically are not necessary. But it’s when it’s done this way where it adds value. The reason for the break caused him to really wake up and evaluate how his actions actually came across and got him to face his fears.
I devoured this book so quick, and will deny it that I most definitely was at work not doing my work because that’s how into the book I was lol. PS if anyone I work with reads this review, you didn’t see that part. 🤣
Wow! I devoured this book, I couldn't stop reading! It's one of those books that captivate you from start to finish.
I need to start by saying that the tension in this book is intense, it will make you grab the edge of your seat for more than one reason. Lol
Reece and Skye's chemistry is explosive, mesmerizing, and perfect! These two almost blew up my Kindle!
Reece is absolutely perfect, he is everything and more! He is a filthy gentleman. This man's mouth is sinful and dirty, just as I love it! The way he tried to resist his attraction to Skye, his struggle to do “the right thing”, his grovel.. This man can do no wrong in my eyes!
Skye, omg! How I love her. She is sassy, sexy, strong, and determined to go after what she wants, and a bada$$ FMC to the core! I loved how she made him grovel, it was priceless!
This book is so good, the tension, the plot, the characters, and the spice were perfect! This book got me in a chokehold.
The tension between Skye & Reese is so tight, it's ready to snap at any moment. His self-control is unbelievably strong. She’s young, knows what she wants & dares him to make the first move. It just feels so wrong that she's so attracted to her ex's father but this silver fox is intriguing, experienced & sexy as hell. She understands him as a person & Reese finds her so refreshing that she’s not interested in his ‘billionaire status’. The plot thickens when her ex catches them together. Do Reese & Skye break up this scandalous attraction or does their secret relationship become public? The plot thickens!
Another superb hot silver fox & younger over-qualified assistant who waste no time on fighting the underlying swirling emotions. Time to sit down & get swooped off your feet. Another ‘wow’ novel.

If you're on the hunt for an irresistibly steamy office romance that keeps you hooked from start to finish, For the Plot by Alexis Winter is an absolute must-read!
The dynamic between the grumpy, brooding male lead and the sunshine-filled, radiant female protagonist creates a magnetic tension that leaps off the pages. Their age difference adds an exhilarating layer of intrigue, making every interaction sizzle with anticipation and emotional depth.
Alexis Winter's characters are exceptionally well-crafted—authentic, relatable, and brimming with chemistry. The plot flows seamlessly, striking the perfect balance between heat and heartfelt moments, making it incredibly easy to read. I found myself devouring chapter after chapter, unable to put it down.
And the happy ending? Absolutely satisfying, leaving me with a warm, content smile long after closing the book.
We are back with our Chicago Billionaires, this is the eighth book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I don’t think they are actually tied to any other book.
𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑵𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔: Reece Blackwood & Skye Rhodes 𝑺𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: Chicago
We start off when Skye was 18 and we see her planning her life with her boyfriend Archer, and then how he ruined everything instantly. Now years later, Skye has recently been dumped and fired. She is out with friends at a bar when she spots Reece, her ex’s father. He offers her a job but it turns into so much more. They have instant seggsual chemistry but Reece also helps Skye find herself and who she is. There is a lot of push and pull as they fight their attraction and the growing feelings that they have for each other. When they finally give in, it is HOTTTTT. But what will happen when Archer finds out? Will Reece lose his son and Skye forever?
O dang! Alexis you have done it again! With another of the Chicago Billionaire Series, this is a stand alone so you don't need to read the others (but I HIGHLY recommend them all)! Skye dated Archer Blackwood in high school and the start of college, but he broke her heart and she never heard from him again. 10 years later and one dark bar Skye having a girls night out runs into Reece Blackwood (Archer's HOT Dad) they talk and he offers her a job as his temp assistant. All the fireworks and heat and tension in the office is crazy! They fight the growing feelings between them because there is a big age gap and well the son being her ex doesn't know she works there yet either. Alexis has such an amazing build between these two you'll be yelling for them!! Just amazing ! You don't want to miss this book!!
