The Way of Monkey Book

Rate this book
This book is my philosophy, a combination of stoicism, existentialism, Platonism, and Daoism, written (mostly) in the style of a classical Taoist text for no other reason than that it amused me and seemed like a good idea at the time. I hope this unique and exotic style allows you see my perspectives on values, politics, society, wisdom, and religion with fresh eyes and an open mind. There are 85 chapters within this book, and beautiful art created by Lisa Win, who had previously worked on my book 13 To Not Be a F**king Cuck.

Unlike many of my previous books, this book does not contain any adult themes or language and is suitable for all ages, although some of the subject matter regarding politics and society may be boring for younger listeners. My goal was to make an accessible book filled with (hopefully) timeless wisdom that I could proudly point to as an explanation of what I believe, why I believe it, and why you should consider it as well.

Worthwhile to read it BUT there are some really out of line pages (-2 stars) in between, that to me seem ages old and do not stand the test of time.
Mainly sexist or old age thinking where “men” seems to be superior to others (children & women) or some provocative world views, which at least make you think a bit. For example, freedom and equality aren’t two things that can happen at the same time.
So as long as you ignore these few pages, you are good. But be ready for the feeling of some discontent.

All other pages (like 90% of the book) really remind me of mediations from Marcus Aurelius and of Stoicism in general. All these thoughts to me seemed good and legit.

Again, good and bad about this book. It’s short anyways so not much time wasted if you really don’t like it.

Enjoy.

I found this book on Amazon and I found it thought provoking, because it's a mix of many philosophies, with Daoism being the main influence. Lots of political and social commentary.

I looked up the author and was surprised with just how non-traditional he is... which is completely in tune with the book, so that's great!
