I love stories about regular people being thrust into extra ordinary circumstances, and having to rely on their own cunning and that of others to survive. And I love a twist at the end.
My just released Ashfall Apocalypse, as well as previous series Madness, Highway and Stone Age are those kind of stories. They're fast moving, have some regular (and amazing) characters who must make life changing decisions, all while the world is experiencing an apocalypse.
Besides writing, my wife and I travel the world (often to research the next book). But often you can find me on a beach, Kindle in hand, with my Toes in the Water (name of my publishing company).

Finally, the story continues!
Lexi is loose and trying to stay out of her uncle's evil clutches. Declaring himself Mahdi of the terrorists determined to declare the U.S. as the new Caliphate with him in charge. Lexi was to be his wife! Her brother Travis has been abducted and renamed Abdul-Aziz, held captive to force the surrender of his sister. Lexi and Travis have other plans, while different methods, both were resisting as best they knew against the terrorists who had gained control of America!
The unelected President of USA has signed Executive Orders illegally ordering all citizens to submit to Search and Seizure of all weapons, against the Constitutional rights given by the first and second amendments. Roadblocks manned by the terrorists and the National Guard were detaining all Americans and seizing their weapons. This action cannot stand and Lexi and Frank will do everything possible to fight back!
All the characters I've missed so badly have returned and are taking the fight to the streets! Injustice becomes the norm and resistance is the only acceptable action! The storyline continues as situations rapidly deteriorate to anarchy. The long awaited continuation of the Highway world is a great read!

Getting worse
Same clunky conversations and Two dimensional characters as previous books in series. Continued adding multiple new characters creating a web of storylines. I began to lose interest and would skip ahead to follow the storyline from the pov of the main characters the series began. A definite MAGA-t bias and perverted interpretation of the Constitution being pushed in this one. It pushes the belief that the three cig equal branches if our U.S. government are bad and that all power needs to be consolidated under the Executive branch. I struggled to want to get to the end because if this twisted worldview . However, since it is free with Kindle Unlimited, I will continue reading series to see if it can redeem itself.

Well done
Just a a story but the underlying framework is all to real. One of the core elements is the subversion of the armed forces by slowly replacing professionals with political compliant senior leaders. A very real situation. A takedown of the communication and power grid and subversion of the government. Our heroes operate in this environment in a generally realistic manner. This is one of the better written and researched series of this type.

I loved this book
I had read Highway and Endurance, and literally waited years before this book, which at the time I thought was gonna be the last one, came out. I like the action, even though I really think they would have caught on to Harper long before they did. Really pumped b that there is going to be one morebbook, and I hope bit really does come out in September !!

Scary ideas in this book.
This book is a warning to all who think it is ok to change the U S Constitution. Terrifying actions by terrorists and power-mad politicians in our own country seem too plausible to disregard. Our freedoms and rights could be taken away by not being alert and wary. This book can serve as a lesson for us to stay strong.

The Resistance is irresistible!
Seriously, it's all in can do not to pick up the last of this series and read the last 4 chapters! This has been edge of seating frightening because it could happen!
Banner has done an amazing job at crafting his words so that you become immersed in this storyline.
I am on to the next book!

3rd book in the 4 book series.
Curiously, I am a fan of post-apocalyptic books. But this series just does not capture my interest.
The characters are confused. The main events are cautiously deceptive. The characters are not compelling. It just does not hold together.
Oh well...I read three of the editions currently available. I will read the 4th when it is available.

Had my attention throughout which is really hard to do. Characters are engaging. Storyline is scarily believable. Looking forward to the Revolution! (book 4)

Maybe too real for some

Good series
I just finished book in this series and I have pre-ordered the final book. It was a goid book but I did have trouble keeping the characters straight because it did jump around. All in all it was very well written and I would recommend it.

prepare for the nightmare
It’s a fictional story that could be a reality in the future. The premise has been explored before, and yet this series brings it to a harsh conclusion. It’s a must read.

Edit. Edit. Edit. When I am reading and come accross a mis-spelled word or a mis-used word it takes you out of the story. Writers need to edit edit edit and not assume that spell check covers everything.

Ugh
Ugh! Could we really be this stupid? I don’t think we, as a people, could be. But then DEI pushed into the military by the last administration certainly installed the type of bots that would try a scheme like this.

When you stop and think about this, it’s exactly what is leading up to what is going on around the world. Excellent read hard to put down. So well written.
