He wants to destroy her show. She wants to get on Santa’s naughty list with him.
Rowan No man wants to be nicknamed Cupid. My family’s run a matchmaking business for years, though, and my sister’s a romance novelist. You get the picture. To make matters worse, my narcissistic grandmother just sold a reality dating show to network television. Thanks to her, our small town is about to become a hotbed of tourists and opportunists.
Her show needs to be stopped, and I’m exactly the man to do it. Cupid, reporting for duty.
The star of the show, Kennedy Littlefield, isn’t my type at all. She’s a wealthy heiress with an unhealthy obsession with Christmas.
There’s just one I can’t stop thinking about her.
Kennedy I’m lucky to be doing this show.Maybe I’ll start believing it if I repeat it enough...because I’m supposed to be dating eight men, and they all suck. I’m not here to fall in love—I’m trying to save a non-profit with the publicity from the show—but I’d hoped for a Christmas miracle.
I love Christmas, only it hasn’t come to the set because the show doesn’t air until spring, and no one—with the exception of me—wants to watch a Christmas show in March.
There’s only one thing I want more than Christmas the ornery grump who keeps hanging out around the set.
ANGELA CASELLA lives in Asheville, North Carolina with her husband, her daughter, and their ill-behaved corgi in an extremely small bungalow. She spends her days writing and pretending to market. She writes solo romcoms and also has three co-written series with Denise Grover Swank.
I have been really into grumpy/sunshine romances lately, and this one has some fun twists. For one thing, I already knew why Rowan is grumpy from the previous books. His family life was so difficult while growing up, and he gets some more news concerning that during this book. I already knew that he has done his best to look after his sisters, so I loved his grumpy self before the book even started. Another twist is that Kennedy is on the show to bring attention to the non-profit she works for. She is a lovely woman with a big heart, and I adored her. Also, the matchmaking theme plays out in several funny ways through the story. I raced right through the book because I was laughing so much and so curious about what crazy thing would happen next.
What happens when a Christmas grinch falls for the Christmas obsessed princess? I’ve gotten to know Rowan a little in previous books and have been waiting for him to meet his match. He comes off as the grumpy, brooding type. I loved Kennedy in Tina and Zach’s book; so, I was more than excited to get to know her on a deeper level.
I was dying laughing throughout this book. Angela and Denise sure come up with some crazy scenes and witty dialogue. It has the perfect combination sweet and spicy. It combines all the great elements I love about rom-com's; from opposites attract to filming a matchmaking show. The fact that the “bachelorette” of the show is falling for the handyman on set (who wants to sabotage the show) just adds more complexity and fun to the story.
I love that previous characters from this and other series play such a big part in the story as well. I really do feel like I’m there with my friends and family when I read any of these books. Angela and Denise have created something special with their books. Get this book today! I will be trying to patiently wait for the next book in the series.

A big, kind-hearted grump and a sweet, lovey heiress who loves Christmas, this had all the making of a snuggle up with a blanket, hot chocolate, and turn every page until it was finished book. Matchmaking A Grump was a ton of fun.
Rowan and Kennedy may have grown up in two different worlds, but at heart they are very similar people. They both have big, beautiful hearts and have that deep need to help those less fortunate. While they both go about it in very different ways, their outcome is still the same and I think that is what their souls connected with when they met one another. However, the complication came in, and it was a big one, because Kennedy was only in Highland Hills to tape a show where she was to find her husband and Rowan was not on the cast list. He was the hired help.
Matchmaking A Grump has a great secondary cast, something Angela and Denise are really great at writing together. They have made returning to this town and discovering these family members love story fun over and over again. Rowan has been the big brother to all of his sisters, protective and sort of grumpy in the background for several books, so I really enjoyed having his story and this book did not disappoint. He was everything I was hoping for and more.
I wasn't as familiar with Kenney's family, I've missed those stories, but it didn't make her any less enjoyable to read. Her enthusiasm over the holiday's and her empathy over helping others is super sweet and she is a very likable character. I can see why Rowan loosened up on his grumpy ways and fell for her.
Fall for a sweetly, quirky holiday romance with a great cast of characters.
Denise and Angela have once again delivered a delightful story filled with hilarious hijinks and endearing characters. Rowan is the perfect grump to Kennedy’s cheerful sunny personality. The TV matchmaking scenario leads to some hilarious side characters. Fans of the series will love this installment because we get to revisit so many loved characters, including Harry!! But this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. If you love rom-coms, holiday romance or the grumpy/sunshine trope this one is for you!
I really adore this series and this is a great addition to it! I’m all about a grumpy man finding his match. Rowan and Kennedy were an adorable match and I laughed through the entire novel. I love that we get to see so much of the previous couples in this series as well. There’s also a good amount of steam in the novel and it’s all wrapped up with a pretty Christmas bow. Another great rom-com for 2 great writers!
The book was very light and full with Christmas spirit. The story was quite nice, but sadly this wasn't my book. I still hope that other people will like it more than me. I am just to picky sometimes.
Special thanks to the author and Valentine PR for providing me with this ARC copy.
This might be my first book with a fake relationship that’s not between the MC’s. Kennedy Littlefield wants to raise money for the non-profit that she works for and since she’s not allowed to give away her trust fund, she came up with another plan. She’s going to be on a reality dating show where she gets engaged but she doesn’t expect to find love, she just wants to draw attention to the non-profit. She had it written into her contract that she gets to mention the charity in every episode, and she even makes her suitors compete by creating marketing for it. Kennedy’s heart is certainly in the right place, but she grossly underestimated how difficult it will be to pull this off.
The men courting her are literal nightmares and Nana Mayberry is a demon who appears as an elderly woman. Nana Mayberry's co-host, Harry, is the only bright spot in this mess and the two quickly become friends. Things start off in the worst possible way when the make-up artist gives her self-tanner that turns Kennedy orange. And that’s the best thing that happens to her, because it’s all down hill from there.
Rowan Mayberry wants to ruin his grandmother’s show. She’s a horrible person and it’s an awful show since she created it and has way too much power. He’s sick of being embarrassed by her antics and watching the Mayberry name get dragged through the mud because of their horrible matriarch. Her attempts at fame draw tourists to their quaint little town and deprive his family of their privacy. So Rowan plots to make sure everything goes wrong, in the hopes that the show won’t be renewed for season two. He doesn’t care about anyone involved with the show, besides his roommate Harry, especially not the douchey contestants or the spoiled little princess they’re here to woo.
But when they actually spend time together, he realizes Kennedy isn’t at all what he believed her to be and he actually likes her. Like like. A lot. The attraction between them is sharp and intense but she can’t jeopardize her mission by dating outside of the show and he knows they would never work anyway. Yet they’re drawn to each other and becoming more attached with every moment they spend together. They both want more than these stolen moments but don’t see how it’s possible at first. Until they realize they’d do anything to make it work. Where does that leave the show? How can they manage to have a relationship between Chicago and North Carolina?
Kennedy is smart and funny and everything that Rowan doesn’t even realize he needs in his life. She’s far from the rich brat he expected, with a heart as big as the moon and the motivation to help the world. Rowan is a cranky hermit with nothing to offer her, or so he thinks, although Kennedy disagrees. I loved everything about their story. It’s sweet and funny and so much fun, just like everything else in this series.
We’ve met Rowan, the alleged grump, in earlier books with his sisters as main characters. As I’ve liked him from the start I was really eager to read ”his” book. I’m no fan of reality tv (and neither is Rowan by the way) so the setting of this story in the middle of a reality tv show wasn’t what I wished for him. But it works. Good thing I don’t get to decide these things! Kennedy is a really lovely character and their love story is so sweet. I just don’t think the story started very well, that’s my missing fifth star. Rowan wasn’t really much of a grump, the chemistry that was said to be there wasn’t all that clear and I got a bit dissapointed truth be told. It got better though, and a bit into the story I recogniced the story telling pace of the authors and I felt the same joy of reading this book as I’ve felt reading the previous books in the series. A great addition to the story is Harry, a favourite side character from several of the earlier book. I don’t want to spoil anything, but he got his deserved time in the limelight - and I hope that trend will keep for coming books as well! All in all this is a book that goes well into the Asheville - Highland Hills world and I’ll keep on reading this series as I love to return to these places and the people there.

I’m so glad Rowan finally got his HEA! I truly enjoyed watching as he and Kennedy met their match so to speak. I don’t particularly see him as a grump because let’s be honest, growing up a Mayberry can definitely make you jaded. But I was glad to see the matchmaking bug did not elude him either! As I am not a fan of Grandma Mayberry, I was totally onboard with Rowan’s secret mission to bring an end once and for all! The shenanigans that ensue were laugh out loud worthy thanks to the friends and family within the series. Speaking of, Harry!!! Finally the bestie we all need gets to shine bright and it is well deserved. I’m so happy that his character extended throughout multiple series. He really is the best!
A grumpy/sunshine, dating show, opposites attract, holiday romance with a twist. This was a wonderful, sweet, and funny love story. A dating reality show with an heiress, a scheming grandmother, a frustrated grandson, what could go wrong? All Kennedy wants is to bring attention to the non-profit she works for and thus participates in the unfortunate dating show. Rowan is willing to do anything to ruin his grandmother’s new reality dating show, but when he meets Kennedy attraction blossoms.
Overall this was a lighthearted, enjoyable romance with lots of “laugh out loud” moments, amazing chemistry between the MCs, and entertaining romantic comedy that captivated me from the first page!
When Kennedy Littlefield agrees to appear on Matchmaking the Rich, she does so only in the hope of bringing awareness to the non-profit she works for . . . not because she’s expecting to find love. Which is a very good thing, because her eight bachelors have her feeling anything but romantic. And, worse, the only man she feels any sparks with, is the one man she can’t have.
Rowan Mayberry is determined to shut down his grandmother’s new reality dating show since her narcissistic personality and past matchmaking attempts have brought nothing but suffering to him and his sisters. He knows he shouldn’t be attracted to Kennedy and he sure as heck shouldn’t be sneaking in to see her while she and the cast are sequestered away during filming, but he can’t seem to help himself.
They say opposites attract, and holiday loving and eternal optimist Kennedy and grumpy, emotionally shut down Rowan prove that in spades! But, how can Kennedy get the airtime she needs to get her organization the funds it needs to keep going if she isn’t into any of the bachelors she’s supposed to be falling for. And, how can Rowan shut the matchmaking business down for good and make sure his Nana gets what she deserves without putting himself in the spotlight or hurting Kennedy in the process all while exploring the possibility of their secret romance?
Matchmaking a Grump was the perfect romantic comedy to get readers in the Christmas mood! For fans of the series, Nana Mayberry is definitely up to her scheming ways again. Kennedy is trying her best to deal with loneliness and her very unholiday like Christmas season. Rowan is trying to deal with emotions when he would much rather ignore them. All of his sisters are in town. And, their friend (and co-host of Matchmaking the Rich) has his own dating snafus to deal with as well!
It’s laugh out loud funny at times while also having some sweet moments. Rowan and Kennedy are also steamy as can be as they sneak around Highland Hills while trying to get to know one another. The entire story will have you rooting for this opposites attract couple while wondering how things will finally get to where they need to be in the end all while also rooting for Nana Mayberry to finally get everything that she deserves! 4.5 stars!
"I'm a handyman/fireman nicknamed Cupid who's interested in a woman who's currently living with six other men."
Rowan Mayberry wants nothing to do with his family's matchmaking business which is why he's willing to do anything to stop the filming of his grandmother's new reality dating series. But what he doesn't count on is following for the show's bachelorette.
"I don't even know what i'm saying right now. I hate oranges. Some are too sweet, some are too sour, and you can never find one that's just right."
The same can be said about men, am I right? Kennedy Littlefield decided to be on Matchmaking the Rich in order to help promote the non-profit she works for and if she happens to find love in the process, well that's just a bonus. She absolutely loves Christmas, but unfortunately there's no sign of it anywhere on set. So what happens when the grumpy handyman brings her a little Christmas cheer? Rowan and Kennedy have some great chemistry and she definitely helps bring out the sunshine through his grumpiness.
Oh and that matchmaking Rowan is really trying to stay away from? He can't seem to help himself when it comes to his best friend's happiness. I'm really hoping we get a full book or at least a short story about this romance within the main romance.
Angela and Denise's characters were great as always. This book had lots of "laugh out loud" scenes. The reason I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were some smaller story lines that I don't feel like we got closure too, or at least not the kind of closure I expected/wanted. But maybe those will be answered in the next book or some bonus scenes.
If you're looking for some lighthearted holiday romance to start off your holiday season, this would be a good book to pick up!
Chicago banking heiress Kennedy Littlefield is only a year away from gaining full control of her trust fund, which she plans to use to support the non-profit where she works. The problem is that they urgently need an infusion of cash now, and her parents have refused to give her an advance on her trust. Hoping to promote the non-profit and its need for donations, Kennedy agrees to star in a dating reality show called Matchmaking the Rich. It doesn't take long for her to figure out that all eight of her potential matches are duds, but since her real goal is to promote the non-profit, she's not too upset about it. What does bother her is the complete lack of Christmas decor and holiday spirit in the North Carolina mansion where the show is being filmed. Even though they're filming in December, the show won't air until spring, which means all traces of Kennedy's favorite holiday have to be hidden away. There is an unexpected bright spot, however: grumpy handyman/firefighter Rowan Mayberry, grandson of the show's matchmaker/co-host, who secretly befriends Kennedy while helping out with odd jobs around the mansion. The truth is that Rowan is trying to sabotage the production, concerned about the negative attention it will bring on his family and hometown of Highland Hills. If the show doesn't air, Kennedy's beloved non-profit won't get the publicity - and funds - it desperately needs to survive. Will she be able to forgive Rowan when she finds out what he's really up to?
It's been a while since I've picked up one of the authors' books, and I forgot how much fun they are! I loved the chemistry and banter between Rowan and Kennedy. They both had a lot of family baggage to work through, and while he fought his feelings a lot more than she did, I mostly understood where he was coming from. I also enjoyed the book's quirky, entertaining supporting characters, particularly Rowan's best friend Oliver and Kennedy's friend Harry. Their romance was just as sweet as Rowan and Kennedy's, and I had to laugh at all of their dating mishaps.
I recommend "Matchmaking a Grump" for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans and look forward to catching up on the other books in the series soon.
*Review copy provided by the author via Valentine PR. All opinions expressed are my own.
Kennedy doesn’t particularly want to be on a dating show for rich people, especially after seeing the men that Nana has picked out, but she really needs the exposure for the non-profit she loves. She’ll just have to try her best, remember why she’s there, and rely on help from some new friends.
There’s quite a bit about the reality show that didn’t track for me (it definitely didn’t come across as big budget or well put together) but the personal & romance portions more than made up for it. I really enjoyed getting to know Kennedy and seeing more of Rowan’s softer side. He may be grumpy but he’s got such a big heart. His history makes it so that he feels the need to help kids in his community truly be able to enjoy Christmas. He also wants to help those he cares about be happy, which means keeping Nana Mayberry as far away from them as he can. If that gives him a chance to ruin her latest project, the one that can only mean bad things for the Mayberry name, then even better … then he meets Kennedy. Sweet and giving, big-hearted, everything her parents aren’t, and definitely not what Rowan expected. Before long he finds himself wanting to make sure she gets everything she needs, even if it goes again what he wants.
I gotta say, as much as I enjoyed Rowan & Kennedy together and seeing them figure out their way to a HEA, it was Harry that stole my heart. A little bit of awkward wrapped up in a whole lotta goodness, I cheered every time he was on the page. It’s those kinds of interactions, the characters with their merits and their foibles, that make these authors a go to for me time and time again.
(Part of a series but can easily stand on its own.)

Matchmaking a Grump is the 3rd installment in the Highland Hills series from Angela and Denise (they can be read as stand alones, but they're all so good you shouldn't!). Rowan Mayberry, Bryn and Holly's brother from the first two, is a naturally grumpy guy. Highland Hills is more of a cheerful small town that goes all out for Christmas. The Mayberry's Nana has managed to turn her matchmaking business into a reality TV show for the rich. They use a local quirky mansion for the show's backdrop but since it is going to air in the spring, there is no trace of Christmas, which is the actual filming time. Kennedy is the bachelorette from a rich family. Unlike the contestants, whose personalities mainly seem to be "I'm rich," Kennedy's reason for joining the show is to get funding for her nonprofit job. Unfortunately for her, Rowan's plan is to sabotage the show so it never airs.
This is one of those books that I really wish I could just pause life so I can cozy up with a warm drink and blanket to read. Kennedy and Rowan are so cute together and Kennedy does such a great job of being a safe place for Rowan to open up and face his emotions. Some of the situations the characters are in are hysterical! It also has a good dose of steaminess! One of the things that made me happiest is that Harry is back in a more central role! We also start to see him (hopefully) getting his happily ever after. I really loved this book and am looking forward to the next installment.

Being new to this duo's work i've been looking so forward to picking up their books! As soon as this one was announced i knew i had to read it first. I picked it up and got right into the Highland Hills world! I so enjoyed this story!
Kennedy and Rowan's journey captured my attention right from the get go! Kennedy is doing a dating show to get a non-profit close to her heart out there. Rowan's grandmother is behind the matchmaking show and definitely not a fan of it. As these two are brought into each other's lives, will the grump Rowan open his heart to the Christmas sunshine that is Kennedy? I couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out!
I really liked the way Kennedy and Rowan were brought into each other's lives. I didn't know what all to expect going into this story which got me into it even more. I was glad that i got to jump into both of their minds and dig deeper with them. The chemistry between Kennedy and Rowan was undeniable and great! I wasn't sure how these two would tackle things, especially when it came to the show and their feelings. From the moments that had me smiling to the ones that made me laugh, Both Kennedy and Rowan had me feeling many things throughout!
With Matchmaking a Grump, Ms.Casella and Ms.Swank have created such a good and entertaining read that will pull you in! Definitely check this one out this holiday season! I am so looking forward to picking up more from this duo, especially the Highland Hills books! ❤️🎄
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Valentine PR / the authors*
I love a grump meeting his match and this book did not disappoint. I’ve really enjoyed this series and looked forward to Rowan’s love story. The Opposites attract/forced proximity (some might say enemies to lovers) romance had me laughing and also provided some steam. Rowan’s main mission is to stop his grandmother’s crazy reality series by whatever means necessary after all it’s for the greater good of his family and community. Kennedy agreed to do this reality series to save her nonprofit and she is willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to get her message out there. I love how much other characters from the series play a part in this love story. Rowan tries hard to deny his matchmaking gene but somehow “Cupid” finds himself in the middle of love stories including one he never thought would happen, his own. I love that Kennedy has so much depth and brings out the fun/best in Rowan. This is a great holiday read because Kennedy loves the magic of Christmas which she has agreed to sacrifice for the sake of the reality TV show but the magic can’t be erased from this HEA. If you’re like me you’ll find characters you love and those you love to detest and won’t be able to stop reading until to see how the story ends! Another great book in the series. I can’t wait to see what these authors come up next!
This was an interesting story. It takes place during a matchmaking reality tv show and features a romance with the tv series bachelorette. But the male lead is not on the show but rather is related to the matchmaking granny who is in charge of the show, and he helps out behind the scenes.
This is a comedy romance. Some things were a bit over the top but it definitely gave me a few chuckles. It was a very interesting plot and had characters I really loved, and it was a book I had a hard time putting down. It stars Kennedy as the bachelorette who is on the show to promote her charity. She meets the grandson of the show's producer, Rowan as he helps out around the set.
These two have a forbidden and hidden romance that starts out as friends and then it leads to more. But it's also very much a forbidden romance as Rowan is not even on the show.
I really enjoyed this story and enjoyed all the drama on the reality show and with the matchmaking reality grandma. Rowan was not really an alpha male type, but he was very hot, sexy and a total sweetheart and I really loved him. Kennedy is a really great person with a very kind heart who was the perfect partner for Rowan, and she quickly won my heart, and I was totally rooting for this fun couple.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Matchmaking a Grump is the next in the Highland Hills series (spin off of the Bad Luck Club) by Casella and Swank. Context around the characters would be helpful but it's not required as this is a standalone.
Maybe it's the fact that I hate reality shows, (specifically dating shows) or that I hate Nana so much (from previous books) but as much as I enjoyed both Rowan and Kennedy, this just wasn't my cup of tea. As I said of one of the other stories in this series, I enjoyed parts of this book and hated others. Every single page of Nana made me grit my teeth; she's a terrible person who makes everyone around her worse, even sweet Kennedy and beloved Harry so the fact that she's spearheading this show made my head hurt. I did genuinely enjoy Kennedy who is a total sweetheart and trying to fundraise for her charity by being on with this nightmare show. Rowan was his usually grump self but he's so lovable. He's been so hurt by everything from his family (the authors' throw the kitchen sink at the siblings) that it's hard to let the sunshine in but Kennedy holds the key to his happiness. When I wasn't actively trying to ignore the machinations of Nana, the other characters were bright spots. Glad Kennedy and Rowan was able to find their HEA.
I loved Rowan and Kennedy’s opposites attract, fish out of water, grumpy-sunshine romance with a side of reality dating show. This was a steamy, sweet, swoony, funny and heart warming tale about letting go of the past in order to live your best life. Kennedy is from a rich banking family but works for a non-profit that helps single mothers. She agrees to a dating show where she is supposed to pick from 8 potential rich suitors and in exchange she promotes her non-profit. The show is set in small town Highland Hills. Rowan is the grandson of Nana Mayberry who is a well known Highland Hills matchmaker. Nana is co-hosting the dating show and is also a mean manipulative woman. Rowan is tasked with helping around the show but he’s more interested in sabotaging. He’s a grumpy wounded soul that needs healing and she’s a sunshiny wounded soul that needs healing. Luckily they’ll get the opportunity to do so together. The journey to their HEA is a fun and emotional journey - expect to laugh, grit your teeth, cringe, groan, and of course swoon. The book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, sexy scenes, hilarity, painful pasts, messy families, and all the love. The book is well written, with characters with depth who grow and an engaging storyline. I am loving this series and the Mayberry siblings.
Denise and Angela deliver a laugh out loud rom com filled with crazy characters, shinanigans and a couple of sweet love stories. :)
We learn how deranged Nana Mayberry really is in this book, however karma comes a calling and it’s fantastic to watch it play out.
Kennedy is such a sweet soul and has gotten herself involved in a crazy reality to show…but for a good cause. However, things do not go as planned…which is for the better!
Rowan - sweet, grumpy handyman Rowan is working for his horrible grandma on the reality show. His has great intentions but some of his actions do not land very well.
There is an immediate attraction between Rowan and Kennedy but they feel they cannot act upon it…until they do. They have such a sweet, secret and passion filled romance. They both are dealing with family issues but help each other to accept and move on. And the wonderful siblings/friends add so much to the story, get in on the action and help these two realize what the want/need.
There’s another romance story in the book but I’ll let you read and find out for yourself! It’s really sweet.
As always, Angela and Denise deliver a fantastic and entertaining story that will help you escape reality and giggle a lot!

Let’s just say that this is a good story as indicated by my 4 star rating. But I would have enjoyed it a whole lot more if it wasn’t another story where the male protagonist is your typical contemporary romance, closed off afraid to feel or express his feelings and emotions male lead. Not only is Rowan Mayberry emotionally stunted but it’s obvious our female lead trust fund heiress Kennedy Littlefield is a whole lot smarter than him, able to see the bigger picture while he can only see and think short term and how things affect him. Doesn’t matter to him that the town uses Christmas to help business because he doesn’t like the commercialization of the holiday. Who does? Doesn’t matter that Kennedy wants to use the dating show to give her non-profit more exposure to raise funds. He only sees how it will affect him. Good thing he falls in love with Kennedy because only the love of a smarter, more caring woman and his sisters and gay friend can help this heterosexual male pull his head out of his ass. For me the best part of this story may be Rowan admitting he doesn’t really enjoy doing many of the things Kennedy has him doing but he enjoys making her happy so he does them anyway. He’s still a grump at heart but he does have a heart.
Matchmaking a Grump is part of the Highland Hills series. These were new authors for me, and I was pleasantly surprised by the book. It was well-written, had pacing was perfect, and the characters were likable. Rowan’s family was known as romantics, but he hated it and his nickname Cupid. His grandmother had just sold a reality dating show for the rich to a television network, and he was doing all he could to sabotage it. He didn’t expect to fall for Kennedy, the wealthy heiress, the female on the show looking for her soulmate. Kennedy Littlefield was only participating in the reality dating show to help the charity she worked at. She loved Christmas and was disappointed the show wouldn’t allow any Christmas decorations or cheer. She wasn’t there to fall in love, especially with the grumpy man who kept hanging around. Kennedy and Rowan were perfect for each other. Rowan was expecting Kennedy to be a rich spoiled princess but after coming to know her realized she did not fit that mold. Kennedy fell for Rowan, but she couldn’t give up the show or the chance to save her charity. I loved the cute meet between Kennedy and Rowan. Overall, this enjoyable, fun, festive sunny vs grumpy romance was a perfect book for the holidays. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really disliked Nana Mayberry in the first book and I couldn't quite wrap my head around her as a character. However, with every subsequent book it really is clear that she is important to advancing the storyline. She's an awful person and that affects every one of her grandchildren. But it's not tiresome, she really is a useful plot device to tie the stories together in a unique way beside just the sibling relationships.
This book is sweet and funny. Rowan is less grumpy underneath (still grumpy though - lol) than he was in prior books. Tina & Zach continue to be interesting side characters and Oliver and Harry really add to the world of people in Highland Hills.
Kennedy has agreed to something that she expects to have certain trade-offs, but she ends up getting much more than she imagines when she falls in love with Rowan. The other guys on the dating show are quite something! And the finale (or so it seems) for Nana Mayberry is perfect! She does eventually get what is coming to her for how she treats people - and not just her own grandchildren.
The preview for Ivy's book is intriguing - looking forward to it.
Rowan may be a grump, but who can blame him? His name is synonymous with matchmaking, leading to an unfortunate nickname that still haunts him. His grandmother is a nasty piece of work who bullies and belittles him and his sisters. And the woman he finds himself attracted to is part of an insipid dating show, hosted by the granny. Kennedy’s reasons for doing the show are more altruistic than simply finding love. Thankfully, because these bachelors aren’t any I would want to bring home to mom! In fact, it’s the show’s “handyman” that really sparks Kennedy, and vice versa. Rowan and Kennedy are adorable together, in that grumpy/sunshine way that I love so much. The background of their courtship wasn’t my favorite, as I’m not a reality tv fan, but their interactions and chemistry kept me engaged, despite the often over the top antics on set. Oh, and Rowan’s roommate and the co-host of the show, Harry…best secondary character I’ve encountered in a long time! Sweetly bumbling, he was often the reason I laughed out loud. I enjoyed this sexy, silly rom-com.
