“H.R. Boldwood is the Janet Evanovich of zombie hunters. She’s fierce, funny and smart, just like her heroine. She’s rejuvenated the zombie genre with her fresh new take, in a kick-ass, take-no-prisoners, balls-to-the-wall series you’re going to want to read, time and again.” —Christiana Miller, Author of Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie She’s Dead

When the Z-virus threatens world-wide contamination, it’s up to me to save the day.

And now I'm about to face a ghost from my past...

Just after sunrise, I jumped on my Harley and hurtled toward Templeman’s Funeral Home, packing Hawk, my custom 9mm, a backup Glock, and a seven-inch Ka-Bar knife—the standard-issue zombie-hunter’s tool kit. Not that I’m standard-issue, by any stretch. I was born with the ability to raise the dead.

It’s a genetic thing.

Don’t ask me how it works. I didn’t write the playbook. I’m just living the dream.”

But is my magick strong enough to turn the tide?

Or will doubt and inner demons stand in my way?

And will those I love survive?

I’m sad to see the series end, but Allie Nighthawk deserves a little happiness.

H R Boldwood has included bits of Cincinnati history, so you know where to avoid when the zombies arise. LOL

All is a badass bitch, so beware when confronting her…about anything. I love her kickass and take names attitude. She rides a Harley, carries her trusty Ka Bar and Hawk, her custom 9mm along a backup Glock. She also carries a bag of Doritos. Even zombies love Doritos. To her zombie hunting is simple.

Step One: Lure deadhead

Step Two: Drop deadhead.

In Corpse Whisperer: Torn, Allie and Toussaint will have their final showdown.

Allie has a wild crowd hanging around her house, Nonnie her next door neighbor, Headbutt, her bitersniffing bulldog, her African Grey feather duster and a new addition to the bird family, Hyrum, the feather duster’s baby.

Allie will have some romantic moments and I, for one, think it’s about time. She deserves something good in her life every now and then.

I love everything H R Boldwood did to wrap up the series. We had some good people die and that is a necessary thing in a novel like Torn. Not everyone can get out of the zombified world unharmed. Allie kinda hits the lottery. Maybe she can afford a better snack than check flavored dog biscuits. She has some romance in her life and her nemesis is no more.

I laughed and cried. I sat on the edge of my seat with white knuckles and I leaned back in my seat, wiping the sweat off my brow. Or was that some zushi. LOL I will sure miss the Corpse Whisperer gang. I wish them luck in all their future endeavors.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Corpse Whisperer: Torn by H R Boldwood.

Disappointing

Once again I was less than impressed by this book. This series started so well but it has gone downhill so quickly!

Pretty much every single character is a sarcastic a-hole that blames Allie for everything. Do these people not understand what she does? The difficulty of her job? The guilt? This author succeeds in infuriating me in every book, but unlike the first two books, books 3 and 4 didn’t have any redeeming qualities.

The only reason I continued after book 3 was because I knew that storyline wasn’t done. That and trying to find something else halfway decent to read sucks.

This book is 5 months after book 3, and she’s referring to Ferris as a friend’s with benefits, after he told her multiple times in the last book he loves her. Jesus, Allie is THE WORST! And since when is he her best friend?!

What sane person eats dog biscuits?!?!

Do some flipping continuity editing! My God! Suddenly she has surgical pins in her hand from the previous book? Why? She got burned, no broken bones in her hand. FFS 🤦‍♀️

This book finally closed out the Le Clerc storyline so that’s nice. Not sure if I’ll continue on or read the spinoff, there’s no real reason to.

H.R. Boldwood does it again! Allie is back kicking butt and making me laugh out loud. The fourth story is every bit as well written and delightful to read as the first three books. Old skool urban fantasy like it was meant to be. We even get some new faces to help with the "zumbas" as Nonnie calls them. Another hit. The only down side is waiting for the next book!!

Fantastic

This third volume in the corpse whisperer saga was just as good as its predecessors. Vinny is a good addition to the characters. While Vinny is trying to chase down a 90 years old zombie, Allie is searching for Toussaint. She does not have mama to back her up this time as she looks deep into herself to kill him. Great book. Great series. Laugh out loud funny!

Allie Nighthawk is a kick-ass no nonsense heroine

In H.R. Boldwood's gripping narrative Corpse Whisperer series, Allie Nighthawk emerges as a fierce and unapologetic protagonist, fearlessly confronting the relentless onslaught of a zombie apocalypse with unparalleled courage and razor-sharp wit. I can't wait for next book in the series.

An enjoyable read

I really enjoyed this series - a zombie story with a twist. Lots of action packed scenes and humorous sarcastic dialogue that makes this a fun and easy read. Love the characters but Nonnie is still my favourite. Highly recommend.

Great ending to the series

It was very good. I enjoyed the whole series, except for the one book that left us hanging. But it came to a good end, except for the one person who died that I didn’t want to die. I won’t tell you who it is.

**some spoilers**

This is the conclusion to the series as far as I can tell.
Though a lot of things remain in the air.
The end was very fast. After everything that went on, its like the author decided from one chapter to another that she was done.
I never grew to like the main character, Allie Nighthawk. She screws everything up, creating chaos and mess with everything she does.
I felt sorry for every knew character she greeted, because in some way she was going to screw up their life.
Like Harry. And Ferris.
I am so mad about Ferris, he never had a chance.
But then she doesn't even confirm the Allie and Rico will be together, as we always knew we would be. Just suggests it and moves on. Ugh.
I did give The Prodigal, Whisperer, Sworn, and Torn 4 stars but after this ending, I downgrading them all down to 3 stars. I just wasn't impressed.
Allie never grew, learned, or got better and the romance was disappointing.
