Irene never imagined her life would turn out the way it has. Is she destined to always be tossed from one sibling to another, caring for their children and households? Is there no room for her dream of a family of her own?
When a teaching opportunity comes about in another Amish community, Irene sees it as her way out. But once she secures the job, she comes up against a spinster teacher set like concrete in her ways, a group of parents who hardly give her a chance, and a handsome man whose disapproval vexes her at every turn.
When she suggests putting on a Thanksgiving program, she hopes to gain the community’s approval and the handsome man’s blessings, for she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. But things take a surprising turn.
Is this new life truly the key to everything Irene longs for? Or will the effort to gain it be too much for her to endure?

This was a sweet book to listen to. The story grabbed me from the beginning. It was inspirational and interesting. I love romance that ends happily ever after!
The narration was not the greatest when it came to dialogue. But overall it was pretty good and it helped when I increased the speed a little.
II requested this audio book from Audiobooks Unleashed and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a very well written and heart felt Amish romance story. It was about a young Amish girl who was trying to find her place in the world as a school teacher. She moves to a new community as a substitute teacher doing a wonderful job yet not being fully welcomed by the community. This all changes when she puts on a Thanksgiving program that is wildly accepted. Along the way she meets and falls in love with a young Amish man. Great story that I would highly recommend!
Irene tried very hard to be accepted by the parents of her students. But the parents were loyal to the elderly injured teacher she was hired to replace until she was well enough to teach again. When they all became angered over a Thanksgiving play, she was to be terminated after the performance.
I really enjoyed this story and all of the characters and storyline. I really enjoyed the story and I could live in the story. I really enjoyed this and would recommend it to anyone for a holiday story. Please read this because you will enjoy it every time it is in your mind and head.
I can’t believe how Irene was treated by people who claimed to know God. I’m so glad how it all ended happily for Conrad and Irene. I would recommend this book to everyone because it is such a great read!!!
I love a good Thanksgiving story! The way we have always done it might not work forever. This shows us that we need to not fear trying new ways to teach and do things.
It is another one of my favorite books I gave read. It is a well written book I was not able to put it down it made me sad mad happy & caused me to do some thinking on my faith
Irene tires of providing maiden spinster aunt services to her siblings growing families so she takes a teaching job in a Rockport, Illinois and plans for the students to perform a Thanksgiving show for parents. A sweet, clean, Amish story with a small touch of romance.
My first book read by this author, and it won’t be the last! I enjoyed this Thanksgiving-themed Amish Romance. Great characters, plot line, inspirational God-centered story —short and sweet, but now I’m going to hunt for more by this author….
Wonderful! A nice little tale about Thanksgiving and being grateful for others who may do things a little differently. And thanks to Ethel for finally turning the tide. Do married Amish Women still teach school?
