Her Series

Protecting Her

I don't do love. Hearts, flowers, dates, and girlfriends, it's all pointless. Why tie yourself down to one person when you can have a different one every night? Sure there have been a few that have intrigued me, but none ever made me think about hanging around. No one ever haunted my thoughts after I left.

Until Her.

I just wanted one night of freedom. A chance to live without prying, and judging eyes. When I met him, the moment he first touched me, it's like I was hypnotized. I got caught up in the moment and made a mistake. I never thought he would be so cold after it. No one has ever made me feel that way.

Until him.

When you push love away, will you be able to recognize it when it's right in front of your face?

Or will everything be ripped away before you get the chance to really love?

There is ones real reason I will always read an Alexis Noelle book and that is because even though her books are on the shorter side and are quick reads, they surely do pack a punch!!! Protecting Her was no different.

Protecting Her gets right to the point in the first chapter and it keeps you going all the way through. This story was filled with action, mystery, suspense, laughter, and romance. I will say I was taken by surprise when I started this book, because when I read the blurb for the book, I didn't realize that Samantha was a celebrity and that Hunter is hired to protect her. I was pleasantly surprised and I really enjoyed this book.

There are really only 2 reasons I couldn't give this book 5 stars. One being that I thought it ended to quickly, I would've liked to see more of Hunter and Sam after what happens in the end. The second reason is because there was cheating in this book, even though it is explained at the end of the book, I didn't like what happened while it was going on. Had that scene not happened I could've easily given this book 5 stars.

Protecting Her is a stand-alone book and is written in Dual POV. Even though this isn't listed as being a part of a series, this book follows along with a group of friends, who are each getting a book. The first book, Keeping Her, is the story of Brian and Julia, this is the story of their friend Hunter and the next book is called Saving Her and is the story of Mason and Lacey, which leaves their friend Ryan, who I am also hoping is getting his own story. I don't believe that each of these books need to be read to understand each of them. This was my first book in this group and I never felt lost. Alexis fills in the gaps of how everyone knows each other.

This story was filled with lies and betrayal of the worst kind. I don't want to say too much because I think you need to unravel this story on it's own. I will tell you this, this is the story of Samantha and Hunter. Samantha is a musician who is controlled completely by her mom and she is fed up with it. So she decides to sneak out and go to a club without her mom knowing. This is where she meets Hunter, and to say their first encounter was explosive is an understatement. I will be honest…Hunter was hard to like in the beginning…..he was kind of a serious jerk, but he definitely grew on me quickly as the story unfolded. Samantha was a girl who just wanted someone to love her and to feel worthy of that love and Hunter was a man who was afraid to open his heart to loving again. It was great watching these two learn to love and trust each other.

So if you are a fan of a quick and sexy read, that is filled with suspense, lies and betrayal, then this is the love story for you. If you are a fan of Alexis Noelle's then you don't want to miss this book. I look forward to more of her books to come :)

5 Stars!

Amazing read! This is a new author to me and I was thoroughly impressed with this sexy, sweet, and suspenseful standalone. This book grabbed me from the beginning and devoured me whole by the end. This book was a sexy romance that was edgy and super intense at times.

This is Samantha and Hunter's story. Samantha has it all . . . well not really. She is a sexy and seductive pop star by profession but that is not her. Living under her mother's rule, she is alone and not happy. She wants to break free. Enter Hunter. A sexy but only one night stand that is about to become a whole lot more. He has made it clear he is a hit it and quit it kind of guy with no repeats but Samantha is going to test his limits. It was supposed to be easy but it never is. It was supposed to be uncomplicated and chance to live but it became so much more. With danger lurking and the tension thickening, can these two find a happy ending?

Oh Hunter was such a cocky a$$hole that I wanted to smack and kiss at the same time. His dirty mouth was panty wetting and his sex on the stick body made temperatures rise. But underneath all the cocky bad boy was a man with a heart of gold who was also fiercely protective. I also liked Samantha. My heart bled for her. These two had tons of obstacles to face. I was rooting for them while wishing ill upon others :)

I highly recommend this book!

Wow. Oh my God. The beginning of this book just dove into the story right off the bat, which I really appreciated and loved. Sometimes, it's the best way to catch your readers' attention and keep the interest of the audience. And for me, it really worked. I found it hard to stop after I started. It won't drag you through boring introductions or narratives.—you just jump right into the lives of Samantha Baker & Hunter Stone. Oh! And since the start of this one dives right into the story, a couple of chapters in and you'll get your first twist right away. Some chapters before the ending will give you another huge, mind numbing, heart wrenching twist that will have you holding your breath and your eyes bugging out of their sockets. The latter part has my insides so freaking twisted. My heart hurts. Everything just went downhill so fast. Sam started pulling back and pushing everyone away, and I do understand because she's hurt and lost with everything that got dumped on her. But she does have a newfound family already with Hunter's friends. They accepted and welcomed her willingly and with open arms. Fuck her horrible parents who treats her like trash. They never deserved a sweet, loving daughter like Sam. I just can't believe how a parent could do such things to their own blood. It's just not freaking right. How can you even stomach that? There were also times I got so pissed at Sam for not listening to Hunter and getting fooled so easily by the people around her. She got too needy, in search for approval and a family that it was the only thing she could see. She got blinded by it and it was like she forgot Hunter was there anymore. I fucking hated her for that. And it backfired right away. But what she ended up seeing in that hotel room that night? She did not deserve that at all. I cried a few tears for her then. My stomach dropped and I cannot believe that just happened. It was so not cool. Too heartbreaking, I tell you. My heart started beating triple time and I just couldn't believe what I was reading! Holy cow.

Hunter came off as the biggest douche in the entire planet in the beginning, but well, all of us have our reasons for the way we are, right? Hunter has his, too. And again, it's a pierce through your heart once you know why he is the way he is. Add to that the real Hunter who is so incredibly amazing, thoughtful and sweet. He's a funny smartass who ends up being Sam's knight in shining armor, who'd protect her with his life no matter what. The way he changed and opened up was such a beauty to see. It wouldn't get lost on you how much he came to love Sam because you will feel it. He will make you feel how deep his feelings went for her. I don't know if I'm starting to get biased here since I am a sucker for players who end up finding their one big love, but with all the things Hunter did for Sam in the long run, I fucking fell. I'm gonna say that Sam is so freaking lucky to have him.

Taking a risk at love isn't the easiest thing to do. Everyone's afraid of falling and losing the people you love—that's why you try your best to keep away, isolate yourself and not let anybody in, right? But once you find that one special person, there's no holding back. There's no avoiding the speed or impact of your fall nor the loudness of your heart shattering once everything turns to shit. But that's why it's a risk you have to be willing to take. You must know if that person is actually worth taking the risk for. With Sam & Hunter, not everything was beautiful and sweet as cupcakes. They went through rough roads and huge fucking speed bumps along the way as well, but with a love so strong, they got through the shitstorms. Eventually.

Protecting Her is such a great quick & easy read that will mess with your emotions. You will have to expect the unexpected because with all the twists happening, you just don't know what's going to happen next. You'll just have to get a grip, go with the flow of everything that's happening and allow yourself to feel. ~Renery, 4 stars

************************

Douche bag Hunter Stone is a f#@K them and leave them kind of guy. He does not do romance nor does not believe in love, pointless in his eyes. Until that one re-encounter of one of his conquest ends up being someone he his hired to protect.

Wanting more to be free from a control atmosphere of her presence when in the public eye and her constant schedule of events due to her status we have Samantha Baker. One night she was able to get away and had met a random stranger who caught her off guard leading her to end up doing something she did not expect. The aftermath of that mistake was so cold from this person making her feel more things she least expected.

Although there were times it was a bit rush in a few areas, this 4 stars quick read will have you feeling some off the charts tension and some crazy need to just smack someone in the face not once but multiple times. Hunter and Samantha personal and love story will have you gutted with emotion and/or rage with anger and frustration. The words “Protecting Her” will have a whole new intriguing meaning and one where I recommend this must-read-pick-up-a-copy today book! ~Cristina, 4 stars

Received an arc through author in exchange for an honest review.

I almost gave up on this book.

Recently, I decided that it's ok to give a book a DNF rating. I try hard to at least skim a book I don't like to find something to write about. Maybe the plot was good, just not written how I'd like. Maybe the characters were fairly rounded, I just couldn't connect with them. Just because I don't like a book doesn't mean I can't find something that somebody somewhere would like.

And while that still holds true to an honest review... Why am I forcing myself to read a book that I don't like, just to give it a 3 or 3.5 with reasons how I think it could have been better? Because let's be honest, I didn't write the book -- it was written the way it was written, and maybe that author and I simply don't jive.

So again, I almost gave up on the book.

I didn't like Hunter. At all.

In his point of view, he's extremely honest with the reader -- he's a player, he's a one-time man, wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am. He doesn't give promises, he treats women like dirt, he sinks it and walks away. He dips it in a new woman every night and never goes back for seconds. I hated him.

But then he's confronted with last night's conquest -- and he still treats her like shit. I have multiple highlighted portions in this title with words like, "Ass" and "Cocky" and "Hate him"... and the occasional word that starts with an 'f' and rhymes with 'trucker'. He gives her the name 'cupcake' because of her anatomy and is crude above and beyond that simple explanation (...it becomes an inside joke, though, so eventually I forgave him for that).

...grasping her chin in between my thumb and forefinger, lifting her head so our eyes meet. I know people might be watching but right now, I don't care. My only concern is the beautiful girl standing in front of me, looking like she was just crushed.

And there. Right there, is when my opinion changed and I grasped for every word in this story. The more he gets to know Samantha... the more he witnesses her and the shit she puts up with? The more he finds himself falling for her. He has his 'rules' for a reason, and he finds himself torn when it comes to letting Sam in.

Since she was nine, Samantha has dealt with a mom-ager, and her mother is certainly intense. There is so much verbal and emotional abuse, it's amazing Samantha has gotten to where she is in the book. I liked that Sam and Hunter went from detesting one another to giving in to one another. With Hunter, Sam learns what acceptance can be. With Sam, Hunter learns that it's ok to let go and let someone in other than his (very good) friends.

When I started, I did not think I'd be ending the review with this line, but my goodness, did I enjoy this story. I will be going back to read Jules and Brian's story -- I enjoyed their interactions and the type of friends they were to Hunter and eventually to Samantha. This is now a series that I'm invested in.

I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was able to connect with the characters. The story has laughs, betrayal, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is Samantha and Hunter’s story. Samantha meets Hunter but after one hot sex session he walks away. When the next day he is hired to be her protection detail she realizes things could be difficult. He is just around her to do a job. She needs to find a way no to be attracted to the jerk that she knows he is. But when Hunter sees how Samantha is treated he wonders why she is treated that way. He realizes she is a little broken like him. Can he prove to her that she is loveable? When everyone turns on her will she be able to protect herself? Or will she not only broken but destroyed by the people who should have loved her? Can he prove that he does love her in the end? Or is she too far gone?

I highly recommend this book.

Fantastic read. I really need to read more of this authors books as the ones I've read so far have been brilliant.

Hunter is a one night stand kinda man. He doesn't want to love anyone so he refuses to get close to anyone. Then Sam enters his life. His whole life changes when he meets her.

Two great characters. Although Hunter was portrayed as a twat at the beginning he gradually took a piece of my heart. I was so rooting that Sam would grow a backbone and stand up for herself.

This book exceeded my expectations. I thought I was jumping into a quick romance but the author threw so much more into it. I loved the mystery running through it.

Will definitely be reading more of this authors books.

Protecting Her is the story of Hunter and Sam. Hunter's a self-proclaimed asshole who never sleeps with the same woman more than once. Sam is a superstar signer who never lets anyone in. Together, they build a relationship with lots of obstacles along the way. They're both afraid to let someone on because they don't want to get hurt. I loved this story. Alexis Noelle definitely knows how to keep you guessing until the very end. I hated, loathed, despised, Sam's mother, and totally loved, then hated, then loved Hunter. You should definitely check this one out!

One of the best books I've read!
I was addicted with this book!
Hunter and Sam are amazing.
At first, I was kind of pissed at Hunter because of the way he treated women but as the story goes, I fell in love with his character.
Because of an unexpected job, Hunter and Sam met again.
As the story goes, things will get interesting and more intriguing as the stalker is worming its way to spook and threatened Sam.
Hunter will do anything to protect her...but will his effort be enough?
Ms. Alexis nailed it!
This book is amazing!!!
Loved it!

Anticlimactic.
Heroine is a pop star with an abusive mother and the hero is her bodyguard.
She’s also anorexic, and the heroine tries to help her.
In the end both her mother and her father are two psychopaths that wants her dead.
Jesus.
wtf was that?
The cheating was because the hero was heavily drugged and raped, which I felt very sorry because he didn’t even remember what happened, but apparently the scene was to cause a break up with the heroine, and it’s solved in two lines, because actually there’s nothing to forgive when someone is drug raped.
I didn’t like the book, there’s too much swift and sudden change of heart.
The hero goes to barely tolerating the heroine to being madly in love with her. Nope.
Mum and dad becomes these deadly psychopaths, why, since the heroine was their source of income.

"Most people tell me I'm an asshole, and honestly they're right. I have no interest in taking a chick out on a date, pretending like I give a shit what she is talking about and then lying, and saying I'll call her the next day. I would rather go to her place, fuck her good, and leave with no expectations of speaking to her again. If you think about it, I'm doing these chicks a favor by not leading them on."

Finding a woman to spend the night with (if even that) is becoming a challenge. Most of the women in the bar he has either already blessed with his charm *insert sarcasm here* or just they don’t hold his interest. That is until he sees this leggy brown haired girl sitting at a bar. She’s new and just the person he wants to spend some time with.

Sam is on a mission to let go and for once- just do what she wants. Forget the rules, the schedules, the fame and fortune she has been blessed with. So when she is approached for a dance that turns into a hot and steamy one time affair she is hit with an excitement she has never felt before. That is until just seconds after they are done he bolts and she realized the kind of asshole she allowed herself to get into bed with *or on the couch* as it may be in this case.

"Where are we going?"
"To your place," I trail my hand down her body, stopping on her pussy and stroking it. "That way I can give this pussy the dick you've been begging for."

So when she finds out this ‘mistake’ she made is assigned to be her body guard she has mixed feelings. Of course she doesn’t want to be around him- or at least that is what her head says but when these two are together- the chemistry between them is explosive.

Hunter doesn’t do repeats but there is something about Sam that he just can’t get enough of. He wants to be near her and something in her calls to him telling him that it would be a mistake to let her go. But he just can’t allow her in. He has suffered before and has learned his lesson on what can happen when you allow yourself to get close to someone.

He has a job to do. A job to protect her and that is what he is going to do.

Protecting Her is a fast paced suspenseful sexy read. Sam and Hunter are explosive and I loved watching their characters unfold. These two people who seem so different may have more in common than they think. I despised Sam’s mom, loved Hunter’s friends. My heart aches for Sam and I sympathized with Hunter.

“What have you been eating?” She walks in a circle, inspecting every aspect of her. “You know I try to tell you how one day of cheating can hurt your body. I mean, you are lucky they had a big enough size for you.” My eyes bug out of my head at the nerve of this woman. I can’t believe Sam tolerates her.
Her mother walks away without a word and I can see the defeat in her eyes. I can’t not say anything. I walk up to her, grasping her chin in between my thumb and forefinger, lifting her head so our eyes meet. I know people might be watching but right now, I don’t care. My only concern is the beautiful girl standing in front of me, looking like she was just crushed. “Don’t listen to a fucking word she says. You look goddamn gorgeous. When you stepped out of that trailer, I stopped fucking breathing.” A tear slips down her cheek and I swipe it away. “Don’t let her get in your head. Go out there and rock that shit, cupcake.” She smiles at me and nods.
She walks off toward the water and I can’t help but stare at her ass.
I am in fucking trouble.

*****

“You just had to kill the moment, huh?”
“Hey babe, I can’t be soft all the time. I have a rep to protect, you know.” He smirks at me as he pulls out of the restaurant.
“A rep? What are you, the Godfather?”
“No, but you can call me a God if you want. I’m sure that’s what you’ll be screaming later.” He reaches over and trails his hand up and down my thigh, sending sparks through my body.
“You are so full of yourself.”
“You’re about to be so full of me.”
“Oh my God! Do you ever not have a comeback?” I nudge his shoulder with my hand.
“No, but if you want, later I can come on your back.”

The story may have been a bit predictable but all in all I give it a 4 stars. I hope we get more from this great group of characters.

HEATHER'S REVIEW
4.5 STARS

When Hunter took the position of body guard for high profile performer, Samantha he would have never guessed that the smoking blonde was also the smoking brunette he bagged then kicked out right after the night before.
After suffering a loss, Hunter refuses to form any personal attachments and never goes for repeats.....until Sam. With a threat looming to harm Sam can Hunter protect her while protecting his heart?
Protecting Her was a quick fun read. The characters were awesome! Hunter so angsty and alpha and Sam so strong yet she lets her vulnerability cloud her strength. The sexy times were hot and the suspense was riveting. The only issues I had with this book was the predictability and just the filling that something was missing.
All in all this is a book I definitely recommend for a fun summer read.

This book will have you guessing what is what. I thought I had it figured out and BAM new direction. I loved that you never knew what was coming. It also frustrated me because you want it to go a certain way but it doesn't and your left saying "why the hell not" I will say that the chemistry between the two characters is off the charts. The banter that goes on will Crack you up and have you laughing out loud while people look at you like your crazy. They also have secrets that explains why they are the way they are. I didn't want this book to end and I can only hope that there will be a 2nd one.

ERIN'S REVIEW
4 STARS

This story was great. Hunter is a strong character. He puts his all into his job and into his determination to win over Sam. He has no use for Sam’s mom and the way she treats Sam and speaks his mind at every available opportunity. He has a great group of friends that he can spend his down time with. They are very supportive of him and they accept Sam into the fold easily. They treat her like a person and like her for who she is and how she treats their friend. They become a lifeline for Sam.

Sam just wants to be a normal person. She is tired of always being in the spotlight. She is a little bit of a pushover, most always going along with her mother instead of causing a fight. She is really insecure and looking for approval and acceptance. She finds what she is looking for in Hunter and his friends. Her journey in this story is to learn to love herself and learn how to stick up for herself.

AMY'S REVIEW

When Hunter Stone gave his screw them & leave them speech to Samantha Baker he had no idea that her one night of anonymity would come back to bite him. The situation that they both find themselves in is not unusual, he is hired to protect a rising star…he just had no idea that Samantha would affect his so much. This book was a very easy read for me. It was short and sweet and offered little angst. The plot was quickly delivered and was east to follow.

“Thank you for being so incredible. You haven’t seen anything yet, babe”. Incredible isn’t the word I would have given Hunter stone when I first met his character, arrogant really is what came to mind. He was ballsy and had the biggest chip on his shoulder. He was a closed book and no one was getting into the fortress he built around his heart. Enter Samantha baker. She was musical royalty in need of protecting…or possibly saving is more like it. She is an open book searching for someone to allow her to love and be loved by them.

This book was just the right size for the story provided. It offered minimal conflict and flowed well. The instant attraction they both felt for each other was a little overwhelming leaving me to catch my breath on many occasions while reading. I give this book 3.75 stars.

I have become a huge fan of Alexis Noelle and this book just confirms my devotion – the woman has this writing malarkey nailed!!
Protecting Her is the story of Hunter and Samantha and they while they are the strangest of bedfellows the have more in common that you would originally think.
Hunter is hired by Samantha’s mother – what as I her you say – well I think the title of the book really should have you barking up the right tree – he is her bodyguard.
But there is more to the pair of them than initially meets the eye and I couldn’t help but smile - it is fabulous.
Hunter is the guy that has never looked for commitment, he doesn’t do seconds, not ever but when his last conquest is the one that he has no choice but to see over and over again, you just know that what is to come is going to be one heck of a ride.
Now while everyone thinks they knows Samantha, they really have no idea, they see the face she portrays to the world but behind that veneer she keeps herself well hidden, Hunter gives off a different vibe, this man isn’t overawed by who she is, it is as if he can see into her soul – but will he like what he sees?
Hunter, might think she is as hot as hades but she is his charge and he has a job to do, getting too close is out of the question and in a bid to make that easier for him, he decides that the bigger the ass he can be to her the less she will want to have to do with him, the old reverse psychology trick – just a shame that his heart and mind are looking at Samantha from different ends of the want scale – because no matter his plan, he is falling for her and there is nothing that he can do to stop it.
Hunter gave Samantha a confidence that she hadn’t had the opportunity to feel before, he instilled so much self-worth in her that he helped her to grow into the person that she wanted to be not what she thought she had to be for those around her.
From what I could see though the healing worked both ways, Hunter had secrets, ones that held him back but by cutting loose and helping Samantha, he learns that his problems have to be faced head on and that only he has the ability to do that, his words to Samantha ring in his ears and by taking his own advice he may just be a man that he can face in the mirror each morning – a man that Samantha may want to face each morning too.
This was a fabulous tale of discovery, love and learning, of being who you know you can be and being ok with that.
Of leaving the stuff you can’t change behind you and learning that each step forward is a step that should never be taken with regret, life is an ever changing path but you only get one shot at taking your next step- you have to learn to make them all count and together Hunter and Samantha learn to make each and every single one count- oh and the light the page up along the way!!!

I love this author and I love this story. I didn't even send any hate e-mail to her during or after reading this !! She almost went easy on us !! Just when I got comfy and was blissfully happy with how things were going BOOM out of nowhere we get slammed with a twist and a gut wrenching event. There was a topic in this story that is sadly such a real life issue it was great to see an author tackle the issue and have the character come out on top of it. Hunter may come off as the typical bad boy BUT I can bet money you will fall in love with him. As snotty as Sam may seem you will also fall in love with her !! They are great , love them as individuals and as a couple. Can't wait to see what comes next.

Hunter is known for his man whoring ways. He fits the bill - hot , cocky , single and doesn't give a crap about what others think. We start off with him at a bar scoping out prey and nailing one down for the night. Little does he know this one night stand may be anything but. He may come off as a jerk but it doesn't take long to see his softer side , his real side. The pieces of himself that he normally hides. All it takes is a slightly broken celeb to drag it out of him. This job may be nothing he expected but everything he didn't know he wanted !!

Samantha is on the fast track. A celebrity in the making. The fame and fortune isn't really worth it to her , she is miserable being managed by her mother. That woman is pure evil , OMG I wanted to BEAT HER DOWN !! Sam is never good enough and she is worked to exhaustion. Just one night away , that is all she craves. She doesn't expect to find a one night stand but going with the flow she gives in to temptation only to be made to feel just a horrible as she does by her mother. I seriously feel for this girl. With a threat looming over her there is new security hired. When they come face to face and realize they will be together day in and day out tensions run high.

With Sam as his new job Hunter knows he should keep his distance. Something about her draws him in. Her mother drives him crazy and the way she treats Sam has him twisted in knots. With Hunter as her protector Sam quickly realizes she needs to make a stand , her mother is relentless. Hunter and Sam make a great team. When the you know what hits the fan you will be shocked to see how it all unfolds. I really enjoyed their journey. Sam has some serious issues and problems to overcome. Hunter has a past he needs to share and put behind him for good. Will they help each other or will their relationship get in the way and just cause more pain ??

This is the first book of Alexis’s that I have read but the description above sucked me in and intrigued me enough to want to read more. The book is told in duel points of view which I like. It starts of with Hunter.

Hunter by name, Hunter by nature it seems. Woman are good for one thing only and dark haired, green eyed beauty at the bar was his next target …….. A quick encounter in the bars managers office followed by a even quicker dismissal and it’s mission completed.

Unfortunately though for him, he can’t escape from his ‘hit it and quit it.’ He is her new bodyguard.

Samantha Baker is being stalked and her management (her mum) has decided that she needs protection in the form of a bodyguard. You might be fooled now into thinking that this was all done to keep Sam safe, like any parent wants .. right?? … WRONG!!!!

When Sam sees who her new bodyguard is she is less than thrilled, sure he is hot and everything but he is a conceited ass and he knows it.

However due to the stalking and other circumstances they need to get on and work with each other. Sam suffers from a major body self esteem issue thanks to her mum but with the help of Hunter, his friends and margaritaville this becomes a thing of the past.

I loved seeing Hunter soften and change from the ass at the beginning to a man who knows what he wants and knows how to get and keep it. I loved also seeing Sam grow and change from a body conscious female to someone who is starting to grab the bull by the horns and take control again of her own life, Hunter is very much the reason behind this. His love and constant support of her gives her the strength she need’s. However like most things crossed wires, finding out who the stalker is, previously abandoned parents crawling out the woodwork and a plummet in self esteem leads the couple to drift apart until 2 months later.

With an explosive ending (not literally) the stalker finally gets what they deserve and Sam and Hunter get their Happily ever after.

I liked the book, don’t get me wrong. I just feel like their story isn’t quite finished, there are questions I have that haven’t been explained. Like why does Sam’s mum do what she does to her, why the stalker did what they did. How did X and Y end up doing Z? (trying to be vague so as to not spoil it lol) Good news is I believe this, might be book 2 in a series so I will now go look for book 1 and wait and see if there are further books which might help explain some of my questions ………..

OMG! I so love Alexis Noelle and her books! I’ve not read one that’s bad! This series is so awesome!!!!

Keeping Her is Brian and Julia’s story. It’s soooooo good. Lies, misunderstanding, attempted murder, romance, sadness. It’s really got everything you could want in one perfect story.

Protecting Her….OMG Samantha & Hunter. WOW! This one is explosive! Sam is feisty in her own right but Hunter is a class A jerk! At least at the beginning. Hunter is the perfect one night stand, never the same girl twice, man whore. And of course it takes just the right girl to tame these types of men. Sam is the perfect one to do this. Amazing and brilliant story!

Saving Her is….hmmmm well it took me a while to get over this book. I’m not quite sure what to say. I don’t know if it’s my fav of the series or just the one I remember the most. It’s defiantly the one that made me cuss and hate Alexis the most!! Lacey and Mason hate relationships….well Mason brings whole new meaning to the words "hate relationships"! Lacey is - well she’s just perfect. Pretty and genuine; heart and sweet; loyal and funny. You must read this book to understand why it made me Facebook Alexis and tell her I’m mad at her!!

Claiming Her is about Nina & Jake. Nina is a masseuse and Jake’s friends (the guys in the above books) prank him. They tell him that since he’s had terrible dates the past few months he needs to go see Nina. Her massages have “happy endings”. So he goes. Yes, it was a joke! But SO funny!!!! I liked this book because he was the one determined to have a relationship and “chased” Nina even though she had serious demons that needed to be dealt with. I think this one might be the most fun and romantic of the four.

I really loved reading these books and having them all in one place. Reading them right after each other makes it feel like it’s all one story. You will get more info on the other characters since they are all in each book.

Alexis writes quickly and fast paced and I’ve seen a few reviews where it wasn’t liked. I can say that I don’t see the issue with this but that could be because I did read them right after each other. I enjoyed that the story doesn’t lag and gets down with business right from the start. I don’t know what the writing version of “talking to hear yourself talk” would be but Alexis doesn’t have that and it’s refreshing!!!!

VERY Highly Recommend!!!!

When I first picked up this book and started to read I thought OMG not another book just about sex. I wondered if I would be able to finish it and give a review. After I got through the first few chapters the author really pulled the story together for me. She even throw in a few surprises that I didn’t see coming.

Hunter has a different girl each night why have just one when you can have almost any you want. He is up front they know the score. They say we are the way we are because of things from our past. What could have happen to Hunter to make him the one nightstand man? You are thinking it must be a woman who hurt him you could be right but you might be wrong. I have to say Hunter wasn’t my favorite pick by far. I also have to admit he does grow on you as you find yourself falling for him just as Sam does.

Sam has trouble in more ways than one her mother is anything but the loving one you grow up with. I just didn’t understand where this woman was coming from. Why she would say such hurtful things to her daughter. As the author tells the story your heart goes out to Sam as the story ends you have pulled her into your arms to protect her from all that she has lost. Sam is just a loving sweet woman who just wants a family that will love her. She has never had friends her mother controls her life from 9 years old. Pushing and pulling her to make her the star she is. I can understand some of it but not all. No doubt about it Sam’s story is very heartbreaking.

This is a story that will grab your attention from the first page to the last. I read it all at one setting I just could not put it down. The author gives you so VERY HOT scenes with some very passionate people. She does leave a few question unanswered as to why and how things come to past. That is about all I can say about this without giving the story way.

The author gives you a story of two people afraid to reach out for fear of being hurt and losing their love. Two people who have so much to give but so much to lose with people trying to control them and tear them apart. This was a very powerful story about control, power and money the things that run America. I doubt you can read this without it touching you deeply. I know I won’t forget it in a hurry.

“Hunter presses himself against me. He grinds into me as he kisses me, his tongue slipping into my mouth, coaxing a moan to slip out of me. I try to lift my hand and reach Hunter, who is standing in front of me, pressed against my legs, but it’s like I’m glued to the wall.”

4 stars. I loved the whole bodyguard falling in love with the star theme!! Was it slightly predictable at times, yes, but I loved it either way!! And Hunter is sexy as h@ll!!

I don’t do love. Hearts, flowers, dates, girlfriends, it’s all pointless. Why tie yourself down to one person when you can have a different one every night? Sure there have been a few that have intrigued me but none ever made me think about hanging around. No one ever haunted my thoughts after I left.

Until Her.

I just wanted one night of freedom. A chance to live without prying, judging eyes. When I met him, the moment he first touched me, it’s like I was hypnotized. I got caught up in the moment and made a mistake, I never thought he would be so cold after it. No one has ever made me feel that way.

Until him.

When you push love away will you be able to recognize it when it’s right in front of your face?

Or will everything be ripped away before you get the chance to really live?

Hunter is a love ‘em and leave ‘em kind of guy. He’s never with one woman more than once and he makes that known. While at a club one night, he spots a gorgeous woman across the club and he’s determined to have her and well of course, he gets her. After their escapade, he leaves and she’s annoyed by his behavior. Sam is a celebrity and after some threatening letters, her mother hires a bodyguard for her, in walks Hunter. Sam is repulsed, Hunter is the guy she had sex with the night before at the club. What happens when Hunter starts to develop feelings for a woman he swore was a one time deal?? Hunter was such a complete jerk in the beginning but it was nice to see him turn into a nice guy. This book was a lot of fun to read, I really loved it!

I received an ARC from the author through Give Me Books

This is my first read by Alexis......
I have to say WOW!! The beginning of the book was freaking hawt.

You meet 2 characters who never met before and had a one night stand.
The next thing you know these 2 people are put into a room together and what do you get? Attitude!
Samantha who is a star meets Hunter who will now be her security. It took a minute for Hunter to realize who Sam was. Then it hit him....and it hit him hard.
These two their banter is off the charts. Smart mouthed Sam against a filthy mouth Hunter.
Sam's mother is the wicked step mother from hell! I hated her. I mean who's mother treats their daughter like that. Her mom only cared about money and if Sam made her appearances on time and what she physically looked like.
Once Hunter saw how Sam was treated by her mom, he stood up and gave her a piece of his mind. However it went in one ear and out the other. Sam she then started to get a backbone when it came to her mom.
Sam's life in danger, she escapes within herself. Hunter see's this and he helps bring her back to life. She hasn't done normal things in so long. Hunter takes her out and has FUN. She learns how to be normal again. However being in the spotlight causes weird, creepy people to come out the wood works. I had a feeling I knew who was terrorizing Sam. Boy never in my mind did I think there were others.
Hunter is so alpha male. He proves it more than once. He doesn't like others touching her, looking at her like they want to eat her alive. Sam she has the same exact feelings. She can't stand Hunter talking to woman she don't know. The touching, the flirting.
Really bad things happen. Which had me wanting to read quick but slow, so that I got every detail. I had to re-read a few things a couple of times. I didn't want to miss anything.
I have to tell you, I almost threw my kindle at the end. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I was like WTH?? No way!! I told myself keep reading, keep reading. Sure glad I did. There is a romance, there is filthy talk, their is suspense and there is LOVE!

4 out of 5 stars

Hunter and Samantha are two people who would only cross paths in the way they do in this book - he starts working for her. Hunter is hired by Samantha’s mother to be her new bodyguard. They actually have a previous connection that neither of them is ready to admit to each other - or anyone else for that matter.

However, just because their paths wouldn’t have crossed, doesn’t mean that they don’t have plenty in common. They are both scared to open themselves up to anyone because they have both been hurt before. Samantha is convinced that no one wants anything to do with the real person she is, just the famous face that everyone sees. However, she notices something different with Hunter very early.

As ridiculous as it is, I feel like he can see through the facade I put on for everyone else. When his eyes bore into me, it’s like he can see my soul and it scares the shit out of me. Half of the time he is a decent guy that I could actually see myself being with, the other half of the time I want to kick him in the dick with my heel.

And Hunter is putting up a front as an ass to keep her from falling for him and to keep himself from falling with her. Unfortunately - or fortunately - he isn’t very successful.

The feelings I have for her are developing so fast that I feel like I'm falling without a parachute. Maybe it’s because I haven’t let anyone in for so long. Maybe it’s just her. She creates this crazy kind of madness in me but for some reason it calms me at the same time.

The feelings in this book run deep. The secrets run even deeper. I have read other works by Ms. Noelle and have to say that her writing is just getting better and better with each book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants a little drama with their love story…and watch out for those twists and turns. You definitely won’t see them coming.

Protecting Her
By: Alexis Noelle
Amazon US: htt://goo.gl/ShKsYO

Samantha had everything fame, money, fans that adore her, but underneath all that she felt alone. Her mother was interested in only her fame and not the person she was her daughter. She had worked hard for everything she had so when her life was in danger her mother hired a bodyguard someone that would keep her safe, but how would safe her from all the evil her mother represented?

Hunter was a man with a secret and a promise to himself, never let anyone close to your heart. But that would have change when one of his typical one night stand he meets a girl that later on would come back to his life as his new job. Samantha was the girl that marked him but would he be able to keep the promise he made a long time ago?

Sam and Hunter will encounter many obstacles in their relationship, but how strong is their love for one another and would it be able to handle all the evil that will surrender their love?

Protecting Her is for me one helluva book. The story has passion suspense, and lots of love, deception, and betrayal, just the right combination to make one of the best books so far from Alexis Noelle.

If you are looking for a gorgeous, alpha with a heart of gold, then Hunter is your man, You don't want to miss this book.

I recommend for you to read it.

Hunter doesn't do love, dates, girlfriends anything that's more than one night. Why tie yourself down to just one girl when you can have a different girl each night? It wasn't until he met her that he wanted more than one night with someone.

Samantha just wanted one night of freedom where no one judged her or pryed into her life. Just one night...
But she met him and he hypnotized her. She got caught up in him and after it felt like the biggest mistake ever. He was cold to me after. I felt cheap and used.

When all you ever do is push love away, will you be able to recognize it when it’s right in front of your face?
Or will everything be ripped away before you get the chance to really live?

I loved this book! Hunter is the typical asshole who is hot in the sheets but the moment its over cold. He is so use to this type of behavior he probably doesn't realize he is doing it, it becomes his habit. But after Samantha he is cold because he can't let her in. Things get complicated and I can't tell you why but they come face to face after that night and that is where the fun begins. These two are so hot for each other that their way of dealing is being cold. Can Hunter get a clue and realize Samantha is the girl for him before it's too late? Will Samantha overlook his hot/cold behavior and give him a shot?

This is another great book by Alexis Noelle. I love all her books. The character have depth and I love that. I connect right away with each character and become their cheerleader for their HEA. I also love that the whole series is about each guy in this group of friends. I loved this one and I would recommend one clicking it.

3.5 stars

This was a good story. I really liked it. No need to recap you can read the synopsis so I will just jump to it and give you my opinion. So let me start with the 2 main characters. You have Sam, the rock star and Hunter, the self proclaimed asshole. I liked Sam's character and felt almost sorry for her. She was easy to relate to if I was a late teen early 20 something rock star who just wanted to be loved by her mom. Now for Hunter. Yep I hated him at first. He was cocky and arrogant and just a plain asshole manwhore. I admit I was kind of hoping Sam would be the one to kick his ass and show him the error of his ways BUT she did one better. She showed him with kindness. By about 20% in I was falling in love with Hunter. He had the hard badass way but then he had the sweet side too that was brought out when he least expected it and only when Sam was involved. It really showed the whole "better half" of both of them.

It was well written and had me hanging on every word just waiting to see what happened next. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen there was a wonderful twist.

So what could have made it better for me and raised the stars. It left me with questions. I don't want to give anything away so I can't really say what questions but I can say maybe just a little more background on some of the important characters to the plot would have answered some of those.

It was a good story and I really enjoyed it. If you want a fast and easy read then you should check it out.

I was given an ARC copy of the book for a honest review. Protecting Her by Alexis Noelle Samantha Blake is a star with an overbearing mother/manager. One night she decides to sneak out and meets Hunter Stone. Hunter stone is a real tool/ douche. He is what I would call a hit it and go type of guy. He has his own issues and doesn’t want to get close to anyone so that is why he just goes from one girl to another and never sleeps with the same girl twice. Hunter is looking for fresh meat and he sees a girl that he has never seen before. They start out dancing but end up in the office of the manager of the club having hot, heavy and quick sex. After it is over Hunter just walks out leaving his target feeling used and abused. The next day Samantha meets her new bodyguard; when she turns around who is standing there but the guy from the bar. She can’t say anything because her mother will know she snuck out. Their initial meeting was not pleasant and things could have gotten very ugly. Hunter needs this job and finds out he is happy to help Sam considering she has a stalker and her mother treat her like a dog. Their relationship develops as they try to figure out who is the stalker. I really enjoyed this story and it was over before I knew it. A good quick read. This was like no other story I have read before. Their journey is one of up and downs and the ending was definitely something I did not see coming. I give this story 4. 5 stars

Review from Abibliophobia Anonymous Book Reviews

This is the first book by Alexis Noelle that I have had the pleasure of reading. I have now added her to my must read list. I was very impressed with this book. I had problems putting it down and read it in one day. It has a little bit of everything in it and will keep you on the edge of your seat for most of the book!

Samantha Baker is an actress and singer. Her mother is a major bitch to her and is also her manager. She’s never good enough for her and no matter what, she can’t get love or get approval from her. I felt really bad for her. I wish she would have stood up to her mother, but I understand why she couldn’t.

She is now being stalked so she gets a body guard. Only he’s no stranger, and she sort of met him quickly before.

Hunter Stone is that body guard. He is a man whore and it’s a one-time deal with him, no repeats…ever. He is a wham bam thank you ma’am type of man…until Sam.

They both have hang-ups to work through, but they are great for each other.

“I can’t wait to sink myself deep into you again. Tonight is about you though. I plan to exhaust your body until the thought of another orgasm seems impossible. I will have you in every way imaginable and I won’t stop until your voice is gone from screaming my name.”

Hunter will do any, and everything, to protect Sam.

I wasn’t expecting the ending and I will admit that I was worried for a little bit.

I liked this story very much. It pulled you in immediately and at first you wanted to hate Hunter but he turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to Samantha. Samantha is an aspiring beautiful actress, doing personal appearances, modeling, etc. and because she is famous she needed a body guard. In walks gorgeous, sexy Hunter. Since she wasn't the one to hire him, imagine both their surprise when they both know each other from a one night hook up. The chemistry between them is like fireworks; although, they both fight their attraction to each other until they finally can't take it anymore.

The story is very sad in parts because Samantha is a broken woman because of her abusive Mother. Hunter is broken because of what happened to someone in his family. Together they try to get through all the ugliness in their lives. Hunter is her rock, her protector, her everything. Samantha slowly crawls in Hunter's heart and we watch how they overcome the obstacles that are placed in front of them.

I loved Hunter's friends who were so nurturing to both of them. It was a quick read, with lots of twists and turns, but the constant was the strong relationship between the two of them. I stopped short of giving it five stars because I would have liked to have more of Hunter and Sam’s story. I think it ended a bit too soon, but I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

Hunter the man that loves them then leaves them never to come back for more. Yeah, until he had no choice but to see his last conquest again and again.
Sam just wanted to be seen as her not the person that everyone else sees and judges she wanted for some one to notice her. What she didn't want was to be used and tossed aside. She thought her little excursion disaster for her freedom and anonymity failure wouldn't haunt her again, until she meets the new body guard.
So ladies yes this book is sort of exactly what you think it would be, but not really. Hunter is her hero in every sense of the word. Not only protecting her from the dangers around her but from the danger that she can do to herself. He boosts her make her see who he sees not what she has been programmed to see and hate. Yes, ladies Hunter is not only sexy and mildly broken, but this story is not about fixing him but about him learning that he is the one needed to fix the other and intern making whole again.
I loved how I saw Sam begin to get a back bone as the story progressed and she took in what Hunter what telling her. All she needed was some one to care about her and show her what love and acceptance really is.
Schmexy and steaming hot this book will have you in a tizzy. Hunter and Sam heat up the pages with their dirty talking and quick witted come backs. Your gonna love the Slug and his Sweets!

I received this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review.

Protecting Her is my first book by Alexis Noelle, so I had no idea what to expect before diving in. I will say that I had no problem following the story and it was easy to read, as there were no spelling mistakes or anything distracting like that. I also really enjoy the cover, I could see people buying this book based on that alone.

However, I did not like either character. I have no love for Hunter or Sam. Hunter is an a-hole and a manwhore, but that’s not why I didn’t like him. I just felt as though there was no feelings coming from him. I couldn’t relate to him and didn’t feel as though he really cared for Sam, even though the author portrayed him as loving her…I didn’t see it and more importantly I didn’t feel it. Sam as a female has no back bone and kept sobbing throughout the story. Now, don’t get me wrong, some things that happened to her deserved a little crying. Her mom being an evil witch to her, having a stalker, and having Hunter declare he loves her in one minute and catching him cheating the next, but there’s a point where enough is enough.

Do read the other reviews because there are plenty of readers who enjoyed this story and you might be another one. The author definitely knows how to write and I will check out the other books. Reviewed by Jennifer for MNP

Samantha Baker, aka Sam is a well known pop star and Hunter Stone is hired to be her security guard due to the fact that she's being stalked. Much to her surprise and dismay, he also happens to be the guy she just had a one night stand with the night before. Add to the mix that he left her with a "wham, bam, thank you ma'am", and there are sure to be some sparks . Sam is also dealing with a mom/manager from hell. Will Sam ever stand up to her mom? I was certainly wanting to reach through my kindle and slap her momma. Who is her stalking her and will they get to her? But more importantly, how long can Sam and Hunter keep their walls up around each other? The sparks are igniting every time they're around each other. The choice is up to them though. Will the fire burn fast and hot, only to be smothered out? Or will it be stoked and tended to so that it will keep them warm for a lifetime?

I enjoyed Alexis Noelle's writing style and the way she developed the characters. I loved the introduction of the supporting characters as well, and it makes me curious if there will be stories about any of them in the future. I'll certainly be on the lookout for more books by this author. I give Protecting Her 4 stars.
