Think You Want to Be a Stripper?

Rate this book
Think you want to be a stripper? This audiobook was written with you in mind. Having over 20 years’ experience as an exotic dancer, I offer my advice and opinions on the industry. I entered the business at 18 with almost no guidance at all and have somehow managed to make it through with most of my sanity. I hope to shed some light on the industry and help the future generation of ass shakers do the same.

I am a former adult entertainer, with a love of books, writing and humor. My job has given me a unique perspective on life. I spent twenty years as a stripper on and off and started writing as a way to shed light on a misunderstood industry and profession. Frustrated with the stereotypes often presented on talk shows, movies, and articles, my goal is to help paint a broader and more accurate picture of the profession. But also, to destigmatize and humanize those who choose to work in the adult entertainment industry.

I am active in the secular community and write and advocate for secular issues. My focus is on the separation of church and state, secular humanism and critical thinking.

My passion for writing began with nonfiction, but I have always loved horror fiction. Stephen King, Lois Duncan, and Clive Barker got me through some tough years growing up. I found an escape through those books along with countless others. My own fiction reflects those influences as well as my love for all things dark and maybe just a bit scary.

This was an interesting read. Erin Louis gave some really truthful and honest insight into the sex industry. Tons of advice and guidance to those who may be interested in stripping, but also to those of us who have no experience and were curious to know more about it. She wrote in a way that was playful, yet still factual and, at times, very blunt. That may be needed, as there are many misconceptions about prostitution and stripping, which has created disarray all over the world. The book also went into the history of misogynism and how it impacts these lines of work, self-care for professionals, relationships, family, personal hygiene, etiquette, fetishes, and all sorts of very entertaining tidbits, too. Strap on your stilettos and grab a seat, as this is one wild ride that you don’t wanna miss.

Was surprised how good this book was. Strippers are a lot more than 'dumb girls flashing boobs' which is sadly the way the profession has been painted, take a read of Erin's books and see it from the other side, opened my eyes to a world I never knew!
