Happily retired after over thirty years of nursing. I now enjoy the sunsets on Galveston Island sitting on my deck and writing new stories for my readers. From historical Fiction to Thrillers, I love to keep you turning the pages. I've been away from Goodreads for a while but now have more time to check in often.

Wait for Me
I was very pleased to receive this book from goodreads.com, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It is a romance, with family saga and war adventures thrown in, and a ghostly element as well. The book emphasises the role of women in war as a natural part of the story.
Susan and Larry are a couple waiting to happen, though they do not actually meet until halfway through the book, and this heightens the anticipation. There are a lot of subsidiary characters, and all are fleshed out and likeable.
The events roll along at a cracking pace, which makes the novel difficult to put down. Parts will make you cry - such is the nature of war!
All in all an excellent read which I thoroughly recommend.

I put six books in a fanned card array, and asked my son to pick their order with his eyes closed. He picked them by book size.

So, tonite, I have finished the first of those books: Wait for Me by Janet K Shawgo.

Here is a review:

Wait for Me is the second in a series. It is also the second in a genealogical sense. Sarah Bowen, the great aunt, was a nurse in the Civil War, and friends with Samuel White.

Now, society is heading into WWII and Susan Bowen is going to be a nurse for our military. And the great nephew Larry White is also meant to report on it. Will the two find each other?

There are many parallels between the two books, and there is great information about our nurses who travel to where they are needed.

I liked the story of Deelyn ('Dealer') Johns as well. Good information on the WASP program. Great historical content built into this story.

I admit, I was ready to pull out the hankies even before I got half finished the book. It is a real tear-jerker. And a good historical fiction. And a fantastic romance.

In my book, Janet K. Shawgo has shown, once again, why her books garner awards. FANTASTIC. Can't wait to read the third one. 5 Stars.

This book is the second in the trilogy by Janet Shawgo and takes place at the break out of WWII and continues through out the war. I must say that even though I really enjoyed the first book, this one kept me even more enraptured than the first. Also similar to Look For Me is the action, adventure, love, heartache, and of course the need for a box of tissues. You start off in a similar fashion as the first book, being introduced to the characters and their families and continue until their pathes intertwine. You learn of their connections to the people from the first book and how they choose similar pathes in their lives as their ancestors chose. This book is not only tale of three lives intermingling, but a little history lesson as well. I really enjoyed learning of the roles that women played during the war that I was not aware of. If you're ready for a true page turner make sure you set aside a few hours or days to read this book, because you won't want to put it down. I dare you not to become emotionally involved in these characters lives. *Not gonna happen.* ; ) I can't wait for the third and final book in the series. Another great book by a self published author!

After waiting patiently to read the next installment of the Look for Me Series it finally came. And I was not disappointed. In-fact I was amazed at how the author pulled me in deeper in the second book and left me wanting to find out what happens in the third book. Wonderful read and loved learning about women in history.

The second in her trilogy does not disappoint, the history she brings to the reader is something not taught in school. The characters are easy to follow and the families are once again brought together in a chance meeting. Once again keep those tissues handy, the strength of the women who stepped forward while the men went off to war is worth remembering.

I loved this book. Keeping in mind that it's not a super happy story, given that it takes place during WWII.

I loved that, in keeping with the first book, this story follows the main families from that book, the Bowens (Susan) and the Whites (Larry). We also follow the Johns family. I loved hearing about all of them and the changes that had taken place for them since the Civil War.

I loved the history. I loved seeing the women of the time coming into their own, surprising the men who had such strong opinions of what women "couldn't do".

My favorite character was Deelyn "Dealer" Johns. She was the perfect addition to this story to break up some of it's gravity or intensity. She was a breath of fresh air as the world around her was falling apart.

Quite a few surprises in this story. Very light in the romance aspect, which works well for the book. I liked that you could definitely tell that the author put a lot of time into researching the events of the time.

I wouldn't say that this was a heavy read but, it certainly wasn't light. Like I said not a lot of happy in it. Well told, well written, page turning story. Lots of danger and no lack of love and family.

I enjoyed this historical romance that continues the story of the Bowen and White families. The historical details are outstanding, and it brings to light the role of nurses, reporters, and women pilots in World War II. It also has an element of action and intrigue with the behind the lines spy subplot. Having not read the first book in the series, it took me a while to get up to speed with all the family members. However, I was discovering the information along with the main characters as they tried to trace the connections to their past. I'm eager to see how this tale of two souls that are destined to be together finally plays out in the final book.

On the down side, there were a lot of story lines that were seemingly unrelated until connections were made later in the book. It got a little confusing at times keeping track of all the family members involved in all the different subplots. It was also annoying to be told every five minutes what was playing on the radio. It was too perfect that every song matched every scene.

• Hi Janet.
Just wanted you to know, I read the second book- Wait For Me. I think it was better than the first. My father served in the South Pacific and was shot on Iwo Jima. Your book was so vivid in detail that I had to remind myself it was fiction. It was so great that that I read it in about 6 hours. I couldn't put it down. AMAZING!! And the preview of the next book- wow! I am in northern Virginia and recently toured Gettysburg. Just about every place you write about in your books, I have been to or know about. Being a travel nurse helps with that. Are you going to stop travel nursing and concentrate on writing? If you are going to write- please write faster. Your books are so entertaining and I just love reading them.
Thank you so much for the great writings. I so enjoy your first two books and can't wait to get the next ones. Take care.

Another fabulous read by Janet Shawgo, this is book 2 in the series and I could not put this one down until I reached the last page. I find the story of the travel nurses fascinating, and to weave the story around families that we met in Look for Me made the story even better. There’s just the right touch of intrigue, a sprinkling of paranormal, and a side of WWII I had never thought about. There’s nothing like a book about strong women and Wait for Me certainly has its’ share. I love a good series and can’t wait for book 3.
