Parentmoon

Rate this book
When the divorced mother of the groom goes head-to-head with the single father of the bride, they might be the next couple experiencing a heart-to-heart. When my son asked me to take his ticket for the honeymoon that didn’t happen, I balked. What would I do on a 10-day vacation in Belize? More importantly, what caused my son and the love of his life to call off their wedding?

I didn’t have an answer, and he wasn’t sharing, so I traded places with him. Over a week of sunshine and me-time was on the docket, until he arrived.

Dallas Cole had silver in his beard, eyes the color of an ocean, and the most annoying drawl. And by annoying, I mean, thigh-clenching, heart-hammering, make me want to kiss him swagger. Only, that’s something I would never do, because he’s the single father of the bride for the wedding that never was, and now, he’s encroaching on my parentmoon.

One house. One bed. Not happening.

So what if he calls me darlin’ in that swoony voice? Not going there, despite his smirky grin amongst the gray on his jaw. Not going to think about the fact he saw me naked...by accident. Nope. The former father of the bride will only be going head-to-head with this protective mother of the groom, not lips to lips, or any other body part. And definitely not heart-to-heart.

From L.B. Dunbar comes a sexy silver fox standalone with one bed, shower shenanigans, and a romantic atmosphere that’s a little too tempting for this single mom in need of a vacation.

Honestly, who reads, “When the divorced mother of the groom goes head-to-head with the single father of the bride, they might be the next couple experiencing a heart-to-heart.” , as part of a blurb and doesn’t immediately #oneclick?

Whomever you might be, you’re missing out!

Parentmoon is Dunbar at her finest and in her element. There are not many writers out there that have practically dedicated their entire writing career to mature characters finding their way to HEA and she continues to perfect her word wizardry again and again with every release! I loved Jo and Dallas. I loved the setting, the growth, the fun, the sexy, ALL.OF.IT.!! The story was full of charm and heart with enough LOL moments that I smiled thru the entire story!

**Audio Review**
Parentmoon by L.B. Dunbar was a sweet and emotional romance that made me grin and happy sigh from start to finish. I loved everything about Jo and Dallas' meant-to-be romance and both had the opportunity for a second chance at love, in a beautiful tropical location. I loved that their children were able to meddle in their meet cute.

Stephanie Nemeth-Parker and J.F. Harding narrate this audiobook in duet. This was the first time I'd heard these two together, and both truly embodied their characters. In Stephanie's performance, you could feel Jo's vulnerability, her conflicted emotions, and finally her ability to let her guard down and let Dallas truly love her. J.F.'s portrayal of silver fox Dallas was super swoony, especially charming, deep Texas drawl! Plus, Stephanie and J.F. both bring the heat showcasing the fiery, HOT chemistry between this couple.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! If you love a romance between two single parents on a hot tropical island looking to let loose including super hot steamy shower times, one bed, curious adult children who are engaged, and a HEA that proves this Parentmoon was worth the trip, then you will love Dallas and Jo's romance. I always look forward to more from L.D. Dunbar.

L.B. Dunbar is the queen of mature romances giving us sexy silver foxes and the strong beautiful women they fall for!!

Dallas and Jo were perfection from the very first moment they met, and Jo could hardly keep her eyes off him. She couldn't help it, after all he was in his late 40's and a huge player in the wind industry, making him a Texas billionaire with a southern drawl that had her practically drooling at the first darlin' he uttered.

Then after the dreaded wedding that never happened with their kids and they ended shacked up on the same island, that is the moment this story shifts. That is the moment their story really starts to begin, and it all began with a lizard in a shower....

Moment after moment that Jo and Dallas share you see that their week of fun and sun is turning into much more. After this week in paradise what happens when they have to return to the real world and their children have to face what they have been up to this week all while sorting out their wedding that didn't happen.

J.F. Harding was the only narrator I could have imagined as Dallas. The way he can lay out the southern drawl and make his voice deeper when it is needed never ceases to make me swoon. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker as Jo was equal perfection. While I am not as familiar with her work as I am with Harding's her raspy voice really brought a sexier touch to Jo's character that I was entirely here for.

There was not one thing about Parentmoon I didn't love. It was full of happy sighs, scorching nights and what happens when you unexpectedly fall in love with your son's soon to be father-in-law.

The minute I started Dallas and Jo’s story I knew I was in for a delightful treat. I love the way LB Dunbar captures mature love in such a realistic and insightful manner.

Even though the beginning was a little different in that Jo went in place of Michael in what would have been his honeymoon with , it quickly became a “Parentmoon” when Dallas, her father suddenly showed up.

I love the way Dallas had this planned when the wedding fell through since hearing Michael speak of his mother, Jo. I think he was intrigued enough to have set up a meeting such as this in paradise. He became captivated immediately upon meeting Jo face to face. The chemistry between them was undeniable. I couldn’t put my kindle down loving every single minute reading this story!

I love LB Dunbar and most of her books are going to clock in at a 4.5-star review for me and while I liked the book, I just couldn't give this more than a 3.5. I love that she's made a career out of writing romances with older protagonists - a FMC in her 40s? Unheard of! A silver fox MMC who is looking for an age-appropriate partner? Insane! And she's done it in every book. As a woman "of a certain age," I truly appreciate that. So the fact that I wasn't as enamored by this book as I have been her others (which I still need to write reviews for), just makes me sad.

Overreact, moi? Eh, that's possible.

So, what caused all this sad for me? Both of our MCs, but mostly the FMC. She was mostly unlikeable throughout, with moments where she lets go and allows herself to just live. Yes, her son has called off his wedding with his fiancee, and yes, it is weird that he's so insistent that you take his ticket and go on his honeymoon in Belize. But to disregard your son's feelings and continue to bombard him with calls, after he's asked for space, and he just starts sending you to voicemail... Oy. If you two are as close as we are led to believe, then trust that he'll talk to you in his time. He's already got shit on his plate to deal with. And throughout making assumptions of our MMC, when you don't actually know him that well and your insecurities are glaring, makes you kind of an asshole. You questioned him and his motives, knowing you were hurting his feelings and you did not care enough to stop and think. You heard his story and reasons and still questioned his motives! Did he come off scot-free? Nope, but the fact that he never told you the whole truth about the kids' reasons for calling things off and his reasons for showing up in Belize, while awful (bc lying is bad people), does not even come close to matching our FMCs treatment of him.

If I were rating this on just the last 10% of the book, this would have been 5-stars. On the last 40%, probably between 4-4.5-stars, but on the book as a whole, it came in at 3-3.5-stars. Despite that, I would love to know more about this couple and hope we see them in other books somehow, because their HEA made me so happy. I foresee a perusal of the rest of LB Dunbar's backlist in my future. 🤣

Oozing with southern charm and wild tempestous love, Dunbar sweeps you off your feet with this wholesome story. She delivers every time, her silver alphas enchanting you in every mature way.
Dallas Cole, a worldly, wealthy and wildly good looking hero is so ravishing, he just swoops in and charms Jo Hudson right off her socks.......and mine!!
They end up on an awkward Parentmoon!!

“A vacation after your children get married. They have a honeymoon. We take a parentmoon,”

Only this Dragon slaying, Knight in a Beach shorts alpha saves the damsel-in-towel in distress, all on the first day.
His drawl, his smooth gait and mischievous smile has Jo transfixed.
Their Kids land up unexpectedly and it was she most hilarious scene ever!!
Loved every bit of this smooth-sailing mature love story. They get over choppy waters and missed flights all in the last few chapters.
5 star for Heart Open....And Hoping

Jo is still trying to figure out who she really is. After years of taking care of her son, who's now getting married, she's feeling a bit emotional. And when the wedding is called off (temporarily), he sends her on his honeymoon, which she accepts. But what she does not expect is finding out that Dallas, who is future father in law, will be there too. She's been attracted to him since she first laid eyes on him. But her past has left his mark on her and she's fighting the attention to the fullest. But spending time with him only shows her how special a man he is.

But when their kids come to paradise and the truth is revealed, she has a hard time accepting everything changing so fast. And here's where I got mad at Dallas. He was doing everything for a good reason but it was still a bit of manipulation on his part. The thing for which I could look past this, is the fact that he really loved her.

Overall it was a nice read and I'm looking forward to my own parentmoon when my kids grow up.

Are you a single parents in your 40s and currently in the process of putting a wedding together?? Dallas and Jo are!
No it's the single mother to the groom to be, Michael. Michael projects his mother and loves her with all everything he has. Dallas is a single father who has wealth but rejected by Keli's mother. Kelli is soon to marry Michael.
But when something happens and the wedding had to be postponed, the kids ask their parents separately to go on the honeymoon trip to Belize. Both parents being in bed of a vacation to, but things quickly turn awkward when they started the same house.
Dallas starts warming Jo's heart by being himself, but Jo is so uncertain of their relationship that she instead panics.
But, in the midst of that, their kids show up unexpectedly! They decided to have a beach wedding instead of their original idea! Talk about awkward!!
However, love always wins, and both couples have a wonderful ending to their relationship.

This book kept be engaged with the way the author wrote it. It's a heartfelt, warm love story and allows anyone no matter their age to believe there's always lived it there!

Hello Day!!

I stumbled upon this delightful gem while trying to shake off a book hangover, and wow, am I glad I did! This charming story features two main characters in their forties who unexpectedly find love, and it’s such a sweet twist because she’s the mother of the groom and he’s the father of the bride and an absolute silver fox. How interesting is that?

The pacing of the story is just right, moving along smoothly without getting bogged down in unnecessary details, which really allows you to get lost in the beautiful setting. Everything feels so natural; there were moments that had me on the edge of my seat, especially when the heroine dashes through the airport searching for her love. It totally gave me those nostalgic vibes—like being back with Ross and Rachel!

And let me tell you, the happy ending wrapped everything up perfectly, leaving me with a huge smile on my face. If you’re on the lookout for an adorable romance that features a bit of forced proximity, I wholeheartedly recommend giving this book a try. You’re in for a treat!

Parentmoon - L B Dunbar
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

L B Dunbar brings us another silver Fox to fall hard for and this one was a real catch. A brilliantly crafted story, delivering on the love, passion, heart and a little heat.

Jo and Dallas are thrown together on a romantic beach side holiday, be it their children’s failed honeymoon (yes, they are the parents-in-law) but each has their own take on life and love. Jo has been burned by a cheating husband and Dallas is just too smooth to resist, with his southern charm. Dallas treats his daughter like a princess but yearns for his own love and happiness and to have his own partner.

Dallas and Jo will take you on their own journey of discovery, and LB Dunbar has created such loveable characters in them. Brilliantly developed story and a wonderfully enjoyable book to read with a great HEA to tie it all together. Highly recommended reading.

Dallas is everything in this book. And if was rating on just him or the second half of the book, it would be a 5 star read. Unfortunately I didn’t like Jo that much. She seemed to spoil every fantastic time with Dallas with her doubt and questions. I”” continue to read anything L.B. Dunbar writes. All her over 40 romances are real life. Love them.

This is such a wonderful and heartfelt over 40 romance. You cannot help but love Jo with all of her insecurities that we “women of a certain age” can totally relate to. I was hooked from the get go!

I really loved that despite all Jo’s insecurities, Dallas is all-in from the beginning. Hot silver fox, Dallas shows us what it’s like to be wooed by an experienced man. He is totally swoon-city!

I loved the unique premise of this story where the children call off their wedding and the parents take the honeymoon - or Parentmoon as it is - to Belize.

This is definitely an opposites attract love story where the conservative mom is shown how to let go by the adventuresome dad. It’s so fun when Jo starts to let go and enjoy the trip! But the one thing they definitely have in common is the love for their children, and even when they don’t make the right choices all the time, you cannot help but pull for both couples!

This was a wonderful holiday romance that does not disappoint in the happily ever afters. More than one!!

Loved it!

ALC review- my first LB Dunbar book and omg what a delicious treat! Sweet, steamy and hilarious mature romance between 2 parents of a young couple who decide to take a vacation after their children get married! I could not stop laughing, Stephanie and JF Harding narrated Jo and Dallas with spirit and humor and the duet narration made me feel i was watching to a movie not an audiobook. They made my experience that vivid. Ill be downloading more of LB Dunbar’s library because this was just fabulous! Do not hesitate, definitely creditworthy ❤️

LB does it again by bringing us another beautiful over-40 romance at the beach no less! I loved Jo and Dallas. Though Dallas may seem like a womanizer in the beginning, he's really not and he'll surprise you by showing Jo how sweet, passionate, and caring he is.

I can definitely see myself reading this book again in the near future!

3rd read September 2024: still one of the best romance books with MC’s in their 40s. I need a Dallas STAT! ♥️

Re-read August 2023: ughhhh, I love this book so, so, so much!! Dallas is everything! I listened to the audio this time and really appreciated the dual narration. I’ll be back to this one soon…!

Original review:
First of all that silver fox on the cover is F.I.N.E!! Do you know those books that just make you smile the whole time you are reading them…well that is what this book did to me (it also made me blush a lot and look around making sure nobody was reading along with me…🙈😅)
Dallas, Dallas, Dallas…what a man! So sexy, so considerate, so romantic, so sexy (did I mention that already?), so alpha, so swoony! There’s just something about a mature man that knows what he wants and life has taught him how to obtain it. Dallas met Jo and was blown away by her. The way he made an elaborate plan to win her…sigh… LURVED him and he will be a shiny new man on my book husband list! (I mean the ‘pinky holding thing’…can somebody come collect me from this puddle on the floor??) I also really liked Jo! So sincere and strong. The setting is perfect for romance. And if you think people in their forties are boring in the bedroom…think again! They have more experience and more inspiration ;-). Dallas and Jo get into a LOT of spicy activities and some of them were so deliciously naughty. This story also packed a lot of emotion, without being angsty. This was a perfect, feel good, sweet and steamy romance that I will definitely be re-reading! Also a first from this author, so I’ll be checking out her other books for sure!

Safety:
OW/OM: both h and H have people flirting with them, but show them no interest. h’s history makes her suspicious of H around other women, but he never does anything to warrant that.
No cheating
No separation after getting together
Mentions divorce and parental neglect

What a great read. The right kind of book to read on your summer holiday. It has an almost wedding and then a wedding, a gorgeous tropical island location, sun, rum punch, and romance.
Jo and Dallas are an over 40 couple brought together when their respective offspring, Keli, and Michael, announce their engagement.
From the stories Michael had talked about his mother, Dallas already knew she'd be the kind of woman he could love, he just needed a plan to get to know her and her heading to Belize was the perfect opportunity.
There was lots of sex but also lots of romantic moments as he slayed dragons and made us all swoon.
I enjoyed this from start to finish!

As I aged out of my thirties and beyond, I searched for contemporary romances with older characters. The TV series "Thirty-Something" showed there exists an audience looking for the same. I discovered a few authors who satisfy that craving in the last few years. The "over-40" men and women carry the mental and physical attributes and personalities of people with extra years of life experiences making them relatable to readers like me. The books even use tropes but with twists.

L.B. Dunbar's "Parentmoon" features single parents. Chicago-based Jo Hudson, pregnant and then married too young, is the long-divorced mother of Michael. Dallas Cole, never-married Texan, is Keli's father. Jo and Dallas meet at a Chicago restaurant when Michael and Keli announce their engagement. Jo finds Dallas attractive, attentive, and oh-so-charming until his eyes wander reminding her of her cheating ex-husband. "The momentary, flirty tease of Dallas using an endearment and staring at my lips dribbles away like the condensation on my glass." God, I love Dunbar's writing.

Eleven months of in-person and video meetings and the addition of Katherine (Keli's "mother-of-the-bride-zilla"), explode the dream of a small intimate wedding into a lavish and garish nightmare. And at the last moment, Michael and Keli inexplicably cancel the wedding. Jo originally planned an Arizona "wedding recovery" trip she dubbed her "parentmoon" while the newlyweds honeymooned in Belize. Michael begged Jo to trade trips going to Arizona while Jo flew to Belize in his place. Why did they cancel? Michael told his mother he needed time. What if Jo ran into Keli? "Take care of her," Michael replied, obviously still in love.

Jo loved the tiny gorgeous A-framed cottage, but Michael forgot to mention that "stupid rich" Dallas owns the resort. (Tropes? Wealthy man...check. Tropical setting...check.) Dallas uses his cottage to relax while fishing and arrived for his own parentmoon. And of course, the fully-booked resort provides a forced-proximity trope. With no room in the inn and Michael unreachable to get Jo's departure flight changed, Dallas and Jo try to share the one-bedroom cottage. While they spend time together, Jo tries to maintain their "head-to-head" status quo. But Dallas heats her up to a "lip-to-lip" and "heart-to-heart" level when Michael and Keli show up with wedding explanations that rock Dallas and Jo's new relationship.

Regardless of tropes, the people in Dunbar's books possess flaws and foibles, body image insecurities, trust issues, and fears. They resemble your family and friends more than soap opera characters. The author weaves all the great novel elements around them creating books that I buy for the name L.B. Dunbar on the cover.

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Tropes: single parents; forced proximity/one bed; over 40 romance; tropical destination; insta-attraction; opposites attract; mother of the groom/father of the bride

It’s guaranteed that L.B. Dunbar is quickly cornering the market on all things over 40 romance. Her latest tome, Parentmoon, reminds us that parents can have fun too in the shadow of their children’s love. The story begins on a luxury island, where Dunbar’s FMC has agreed to take her son’s honeymoon after he and his fiancee call off their wedding. When the bride’s father comes to the island, she finds out quickly that she’s staying in his island retreat. Even though the MOG believes the FOB doesn’t like her, we find, over the course of the story, that isn’t true. What happens over the course of a 10-day island retreat is sun, spice, and sentimental promises.

What did I love?

Dallas, the MMC of Parentmoon, is a force. He pushes the FMC, Keli, to embrace her sensuality and make choices for herself. While he can be frustrating at times as he doesn’t easily reveal that he hopes for Keli to be his end game, he seeks to let her know how much he admires her. As a single mom, Keli has accepted the dregs of her former marriage and lived her life to raise her son. Dallas admires her strength and tenacity, and he uses their time on the island to woo her. Nothing is more swoony than a hero who wants more than the heroine imagines.

Keli is an “every woman.” As you read her story, Dunbar has drawn her in such a way that readers see themselves through her experience. Just as Dallas holds back his feelings, so does Keli. And this builds the tension of the story as Dallas and Keli both share their adoration but also hold back due to their geographical distance. Dunbar chooses to enact the resolution through Keli’s character because she has the furthest to go in falling in love with Dallas. Dunbar knows that Keli’s agency is important.

The fun of an island setting provides the perfect backdrop for Keli and Dallas’s fierce attraction. Dunbar has inundated her story with the effects of that attraction. It’s sensual and spicy in all the best ways. I love that Keli and Dallas are over 40 and physicality is as necessary to their relationship as a character in their 20s. It allows for an older readership to find themselves in her stories.

I enjoyed L.B. Dunbar’s Parentmoon. If I had any criticism, it would be repetitiveness. This is a tendency in this book as Keli vacillates with revealing her feelings for Dallas. She recognizes her “back and forth” with him, and it becomes redundant midway through the story. However, Dallas’s sweetness at the story’s end rescues the reader from losing interest. As far as I'm concerned, Dunbar can continue to write romances for the over-40 set.

(I received an ARC for this book)

I love the way we were introduced to these characters. I think it definitely made a difference meeting them when they were meeting each other. Jo’s son raved about his bride-to-be’s dad. And after a not so great first meeting, and unwelcomed behavior as their kids plan their wedding, you can imagine hers (and my) surprise when she meets the real Dallas Cole. He is the definition of a southern gentleman. Considerate, well mannered, thoughtful. And it doesn’t hurt that he calls her darlin’. Her body was a traitor from the moment they met. But now they’re together on their kids’ honeymoon after the wedding is called off, cohabiting with the enemy. I knew very early on that Dallas was misunderstood, and a man of few words, and feelings. So when he spoke, especially when he spoke from his heart, I knew they were the most important things he had to say. I really wanted to climb into his brain. Dallas and Jo both struggled with doubt, feeling unworthy and not enough. And it broke my heart when those feelings affected each other in the wrong ways. Because of their pasts, it doesn’t allow her to see a future with him. Yet, that’s all he sees. I was aiming for five stars on this one. It felt like an easy choice. But when their kids came into the fold, and things got complicated, things didn’t feel quite as right as they had.

My Favorite Quotes:
• “It’s not the only thing I plan on stealing.”
• “I think anything would look good on you.”
• “Pink isn’t a f!cking color on you. It’s an attitude.”
• “Who says anything about hearts? It’s other parts I want to put together between us.”
• “I find I want you all to myself.”
• “That was a once in a lifetime experience.”
• “A first kiss can never be duplicated but I’m going to try like hell to repeat it.”
• “I’m having you for breakfast.”
• “Look at me, darlin’.”
• “Hop on Pop.”
• “Dangerous to my heart but good for my soul.”
• “I can’t seem to tame how much I want you.”
• “I want to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you.”
• “The only woman I want to see and the woman I want looking back at me.”

6/10 Forced Proximity
7/10 Single Parent

*ALC Audio review*

I was only two chapters in when I realised I was in love with this book! The concept is appealing and was what drew me in first, what happens when a wedding is called off and the mother of the groom ends up going on the now defunct honeymoon and just happens to bump into the single dad of the bride. Stuck for 10 days in a tropical paradise.....what could possibly go wrong?

Jo and Dallas' story is just beautiful and enchanting from the get go, two lonely and bruised people who forge an intense connection and end up diving head first into a scorching and romantic tryst. The balance of sweet and spicy is just right, lovely little comical scenes (think Bridget Jones' pants scene) and sparkling heartfelt banter between these two just makes you fall head over heels for them and route for them. They are genuinely lovely people and really care about the happiness of their children but you also want them to finally get their own happy ever after!

The pacing of the story is perfect, from the beginning where Jo and Dallas first get together and watch as they navigate their new relationship right up so the twists that come along in the second half of the book and the inevitable conflict hurdles thrown in their way. It never drags or feels like parts could have been left out. Its all perfect and I just wish there was more.

You need to experience the duet audiobook with the wonderful performances of Stephanie Nemeth-Parker and J.F Harding. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker is one of my very favourite voice actors as she manages to sweep you up and wrap you up in her melodic voice. She is perfect for Jo, bringing out the adorable and relatable qualities of her but at the same time being the strong independent takes no nonsense from anyone woman who brings Dallas to his knees.

J.F Harding captured my heart many months ago and doesn't seem to be returning it anytime soon. I'm not complaining but I warn others, he is lethal with that voice of his. Especially in this one when he turns on the southern charm and just throws out all those, Darlin's like they are candy. Swoon central. This is a role which is perfect for his abilities to showcase, raw sexiness and heart wrenching vulnerability as well as his wicked comedic timing.

This is probably up there as one of my all time favourite books of the year so far. I adore everything about it.

I really did enjoy this book, even though it did take me a few chapters to really get invested in the story. This was my first audiobook narrated by Stephanie Nemeth-Parker and I really enjoyed her narration. I am becoming a bigger fan of J.F. Harding. He was really good as Dallas in this story with his southern drawl. I will say that I wished we had a lot more of his POV in the story. The story is about 95% told through Jo's POV with just a chapter and one epilogue from Dallas.

I loved that these were older characters in their 40's navigating life. Jo was in an unhappy marriage for a while until finally she couldn't take it anymore. She was a single mother and her son was about to get married...or so she thought. When the wedding is suddenly canceled, Jo just doesn't understand what went wrong. Her son and his fiancé loved each other so much, she couldn't figure out what might have happened. And her son isn't giving her any answers. He just wants her to go on what should have been his honeymoon. She's hesitant at first but finally agrees. She just wasn't expecting the father of the bride to show up on what turns out to be a Parentmoon.

Dallas felt a spark with Jo when they met for dinner when their children announced their engagement. But this scared him a bit because relationships aren't something he knows much about. When the kids called off the wedding, Dallas thought it would be the best chance to spend some time with Jo and really get to know her. They spend the week together getting "really" connected. Feelings start to grow for both of them but neither will just open up and talk about what could be.

When their kids surprise them in Belize to announce a few things, a few truths come out in the light. Jo is obviously hurt by some things that are discussed and she fears being completely alone. I really understood the way Jo felt and I loved how she handled everything. She didn't just forgive and forget with Dallas right away. She had valid reasons for her feelings and she didn't shy away from them.

I am definitely going to be reading more from L.B. from her Over 40 selection. It's nice to see mature adults in romance stories.

I received this ebook ARC, from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book, the characters were so well developed, and their romance was so heartfelt. I’ve read many books written by L.B. Dunbar, and she always grabs my heart, mind, and feelings while I read her stories. The emotions had me tearing up for the couple, because of everything that they had gone through, in their past.
Dallas is a single wealthy businessman, with an enticing Southern drawl, and the father of Keli a bride-to-be. He has a past of rejection, from Keli’s mom. His life centers around Keli. Even thou Keli is spoiled by her dad, she still has a good head on her shoulders.
Jo is a single divorced, hardworking mom, of Michael. She has had a hard past, with Michael’s father, and has a lot of trust issues. Michael has been dedicated to his mom, and very protective of her.
Michael and Keli plan a dinner to get their parents to meet each other. At the dinner, Michael proposes to Keli, and the entire family is excited for them. Jo inadvertently hugs Dallas, and he stiffens, but this hug is the beginning of his feelings for Jo. He has heard so many praises about Jo, from her son, and has felt attraction towards her.
The wedding is canceled, and Michael asks his mom to go on his honeymoon trip to Belize. While there, Dallas arrives there also. They begin an uncomfortable sharing of the house. Slowly Dallas breaks down the walls, that Jo has built around her heart. They begin a relationship, but Jo’s trust issues affect this relationship.
A surprise visit from Michael and Keli, affects the situation. A beach wedding is planned, but Jo is so uncertain about her and Dallas’s feelings. The end of her visit ends sadly, even thou Dallas asks her to stay, but she is so uncertain, until she realizes that she truthfully loves Dallas, and they reunite. This beautiful story ends in a heartfelt HEA for both couples.

Im sorry, but this book was terrible.
Darlin'was used 124 times in about 250 pages.
(14 times in one chapter!)
FMC was so fucking judgemental...MMC would do something sweet and she would make statements like. I bet all your women liked this treatment. 🙄😬
When her son got back with his fiance, she asked him several times if he was sure he wanted to marry her.

MMC seemed creepy at first, but it got better.

And you can't be for windmill farms yet upset about catching a releasing fish. Windmill farms literally destroy land and cause upset to wildlife 🙄🙄 You can't even recycle windmill parts they get buried or thrown in a parts grave.

Excerpt

“We should have sex.” The statement is so abrupt it jars me like I’ve slammed into a coconut tree. I stumble to a halt and choke out, “What?”
Dallas takes an additional step forward and turns to face me. With his hands still in the pockets of his loose, linen trousers, he shrugs. “You and me. We should have sex.”
Admittedly, I haven’t been on a date in a while. It’s been even longer since I’ve had sex. Still, I’m at a loss for words. Is that how this is done? Does that bold statement really get women into bed with him? Way to burst the bubble on a romantic setting. I lift a hand to my forehead, rubbing back and forth across the sudden furrows. “Have you lost your mind?”
He flinches, taken aback by my rejection while I’m still trying to process his proposition. “I’ve already seen you naked,” he teases humorlessly. “You need to loosen up, darlin’.” “And you think sex is what I need?” I stare at him, dumbfounded. The man can hardly spare me a glance, but he wants to have sex with me. My thoughts are a riot of emotions, clashing into each other, fighting for something to take the lead and explain to me what the hell this man is thinking.
“Yes. And often. In a variety of positions.” His deep voice drops deeper, like large stones plunking into the ocean.

Parentmoon
By L.B. Dunbar

I love Dallas Cole! I love him so much he is now on my Book Boyfriend list! I want a man just like Dallas because damn!!!!

If there is one word I will always associate with this book it’s Darlin’.

Dallas is the father of the bride and Jo is the mother of the groom….except all of a sudden bride Keli and groom Michael cancel the wedding…so who is going on the honeymoon? Well, as it turns out it’s Dallas and Jo and since they are the parents of the bride and groom it’s turned into a Parentmoon!

So many discussions take place between these two while they are in Belize and we find out so much more about Dallas and Jo, while they spend the next 10 days learning about each other.

To me it was obvious that Dallas was here for a reason and I was ready to find out just what that reason was! Jo believed that she was giving her son Michael the time he needed to deal with the wedding being cancelled and like any good mother she was worried! Girl I get it, but pay attention honey there is a handsome man with all the moves waiting for you to open your eyes.

There was so much steamy heat (and I don’t mean the outside temperatures) between Dallas and Jo, the one line that keep going through my head was “it’s getting hot in here” and boy, oh boy was it!

As she normally does, Author L.B. Dunbar gives readers a very sexy silver fox that may just have a crush on a woman who really does need a good man in her life.

Dallas and Jo have become one of my favorite couples for 2023. Do not hesitate to pick up this book, it has all the feels, banter and heat that you need to enjoy their story!

Super cute, love the basis for the story! Jo’s son Michael was marrying Dallas’ daughter Keli. They met on the day the young couple announced their engagement, have had short exchanges through Zoom during the planning of the wedding, and three days before the wedding, everything went to hell! The wedding was off, the young ones were not telling and Michael asked his mother to go to his honeymoon in his place.

Jo was planning to take a short vacation to Arizona to get over the wedding rush and blues, and now Michael is heading to Arizona while she was heading to Belize! And on her first night on the enchanting resort, Dallas appears, ready to share her condo and her vacation. Now they’re enjoying a parentmoon! Love that concept!

Initially Jo wasn’t impressed by Dallas. Found him too cocky, too much of a ladies man. Immediately she didn’t trust him. Coming from a failed marriage and a cheating husband, her walls were very high and very thick and she wasn’t trusting this gorgeous man who attracted the looks of every female around.

Except he was enchanting, generous, attentive, called her “darlin’” in that super sexy drawl, and he dedicated himself to give her all the attentions, all the orgasms, all the good times that even her husband never gave her. Who can resist?

Fun and enchanting and full of good times and some reluctance from the gun-shy Jo, it was a sexy romp of a good story. Loved that the characters this time are in their forties, so they know who they are, where they are in their life, what they don’t want and don’t like. There was no debate except the “will she” or “will he” and that was all the fun in this fun book!

This book was nothing like I expected it to be. Jo and Dallas were nothing like I expected. Such a sweet surprise. Dallas and Jo are father of the bride and mother of the groom. When they meet Jo’s initial impression is marred by stories her son and his fiancé (Dallas’ daughter) have told.
When the wedding is suddenly called off and Micheal gives his mom Jo the tickets to what would be the honeymoon she doesn’t expect Dallas to show up, nor to find out its his house she is staying in. Their parentmoon gets steamy quick. Will Jo be able to protect herart or will this last beyond paradise?

Jo is a strong single mom who has been through it with her ex. She has walls so high to protect herself and her son. She has had a nearly single focus which is raising a son who is a good and decent man. As she looks at the changes that are happening in his life she has to address the fact that her life is changing in major ways as well. She shows just how big a transition a child getting married is. Does she handle it well? In some respects yes, in others she lets her fear dominate her choices.

Dallas makes no excuses for how he chooses to live his life. He knows what he wants and goes for it. It made him successful in business and raising his daughter. When he decides he wants Jo he has a single focus. He pushes her out of her head and challenges her to get out of her comfort zone. He is a wonderful partner for her because he is steadfast in both his words and actions.

I wish I had been able to read this on the beach. All the beach time described in the book made me long for the same.

*Audiobook Review*

“He has a very fine backside. But a nice ass does not make for a good man.”

If you’re looking for a book to ferry you off to a beachy paradise, look no further. L.B. Dunbar’s Parentmoon is a charming love story with delightful characters, swoony romance, and heaps of spice. This over forty, opposites-attract, one-bed vacation romance stole my heart. Dallas Cole had me at the first darlin’. Jo is heart-achingly relatable; the divorcee is a bit adrift and adjusting to recent changes. Jo holds pain from past betrayals that make her hesitant to trust her heart. Dallas is a billionaire bachelor and devoted father. I loved this pair so much! The sexy, silver fox cowboy and the reserved, gorgeous (though unsure of herself), mesmerizing single mom made my heart MELT! I enjoyed every second of Jo and Dallas’ character arcs as individuals and a burgeoning couple. L.B.’s over forty romances always leave me wrapped up in my feelings and smiling so much my face hurts. Parentmoon was no exception, and possibly my new favorite; I laughed, got teary-eyed, and fell hard for Dallas and Jo’s delightful HEA.

J.F. Harding oozes charisma as the energy mogul, Dallas. His smooth Southern drawl and honeyed tones are utterly enthralling. Stephanie Nemeth-Parker was enchanting in her performance of Jo. Her character choices, pacing, and tone were engaging throughout the book. J.F. and Stephanie brought L.B.’s story to life flawlessly. If you’re looking for a vacation fling, forty plus romance with dynamic main characters and a bit of enemies-to-lovers energy, get Parentmoon in your ears now.
