In this nicely written short story, the ZA starts on a beautiful sunny morning in California as dad drives aimlessly to work, missing all the signs of impending doom. He never makes it out of the parking garage, however, before he realizes that the SHTF and he turns around to return home to his wife and young child. Two types of zombies abound, the slow shambling types and the fast, manic types. Gotta love covering all your bases. I enjoyed the ending as well - quite obvious, but still well done. Kudos to the author.

This was the standard zombie story of the outbreak happening when a person was seperated from their loved ones and trying to find a way home. I read a lot of stories with the same plot so I don't have any complaints about a lot of them being similar as long as they are still enjoyable. So the idea of the story, while not anything new in the genre, was fine.

It was the way the story was written that I was unhappy with. The whole story is connected by the use of a mobile phone. He calls home and his wife and kid are safe, locked in the house. He phones back and they are on the run. He phones back and they are hiding somewhere so he heads that way. He phones, they have moved. It just jumps around all the time with no flow to the story. There is no opportunity for the tension to build around her dangerous situation and I felt no connection to her at all. It was just a bit flat and repetitive and of course the ending was also predictable. It just seems to a man racing around town talking on a phone plus there wasn't enough zombie action!

Bit disappointing really.

This was a quick little story where a man who is on his way to work during the Zombie Apocalypse. He gets to work and realizes what is happening and rushes home to save his wife and daughter. The ending was pretty predictable and I saw it coming from a mile away. If you're looking for zombies in this book, they are there and there are a few good fight scenes. But honestly it's boring and predictable. New fans to the genre may like it, but seasoned veterans of zombie books may want to pass this one by.

A Zombie Tale With a Twist

Ever hear of a zombie story with heart? A man races home during a zombie outbreak to save his wife and daughter and the ending is poignant. Well written and the ending saves it from being just another story about the living dead.

The ending was quite unexpected, which I really appreciated.

The story itself was okay, nothing too remarkable, but still thrilling enough to keep reading.
