A quick interesting crime story showing what happened to police officer Thomas Blume before he finds out his family is gone..

So this is the prequel to the Thomas Blume trilogy I loved so much. It's the story of just how he met his friend Amir and the moment he learned of the deaths of his wife and son. I think maybe I would have enjoyed this more if I'd read it before the trilogy, but I didn't know it existed and only read it because it was included in a bunch of the author's flash fiction and short stories. Nonetheless, it was short and action packed as always. A great prelude into the trilogy.

Another of PT Reade's short stories that sucks you in from the first sentence and seduces you into wanting more, more, more. This one takes NYPD detective Thomas Blume on an unexpected and gritty trip through the bowels of the subway system in search of a kidnapped woman and concludes with a cliff hanger ending that leads the reader to HARD FALL, the next book in the series.

A Bone Chilling Read

The story starts off with a mind-boggling jolt. Detective Thomas Blume is trailing a man known as “Rat King” who uses the subway to abduct women. The well-written plot is filled with some gut-wrenching scenes, and unbelievable revelations. The characters are well-defined, complex and authentic, where things are never as they seem, leading up to a bombshell start.
