It's Christmas and snow is falling over Red Forest. Isobel is nine years old; she is running with her father and sister, trying to escape the gunfire tearing through the trees. Civil war is erupting and the family is right in the middle of the battlefield.

With nowhere else to go, they have to somehow make it out of the forest. But can they all make it out alive?

Safe Haven is a short companion piece to the novel The Running Game. Set two decades earlier, this is the story of where the Reacher girls came from.

3.5 stars....

Years ago, I added The Running Game to my "To read" list. Afterwards, I came across this shirt story that was described as a prequel to The Running Game, so I decided to give it a try also. The story began slowly for me but, there's was a hint at the person of special powers in the main characters (two very young sisters), so in was still intrigued. Happily, the story began to pick up and pull me in, reaching a dynamic conclusion that confirmed that I will be moving on to read The Running Game to read the rest of the sisters' story.

A fast paced read giving you a glimpse into the Running Game. This Prequel Novella was superbly written, drawing you into The story quickly. Fitzpatrick builds her characters and world fluidly. The depth of the characters draws you in to a point where you empathize, and understand them. Very well done L E and The Running Game is now in my TBR because Safe Haven pulled me in so completely.

A short story it was very short only 50% of this the other 50% was of the running game. I wish i had read this book 1st before the running game which is a really good book you don't have to read this to read the The Running game. This is Izzy's P O V

This is a really short, quick read. It's written well with good descriptions. The characters are interesting, and I cared fairly quickly about the girls in particular.
Certainly enough here to make me want to read more of the story, which is the point of this little teaser, after all.

This is the short story of Isobel - the last half of the e-book is the beginning of The running game. Some will read it before The running game as a prequel, I'm glad I read it afterwards. We heard so much about Isobel that it's good to know more about her from her point of view. Rachel is only mentioned here as the little kid sister with a lot of potential, someone to be protected at any cost.

"She had stepped forward, volunteered her life for her sister's. And if she had known what awaited her in Frank Morris' car, she would still have made the same choice."

I rated it 3 1/2 only because it's a very short story and we don't really know where the Reacher girls came from, just more details about their escape and how they got to Safe Haven, but I'll be glad to read the next novel in the series when it is released : 3 1/2 stars.

Save Haven is a short novella. So doesn't have to be read.
It's a good little book if you like The Running Games by L E Fitzpatrick. It helps you get a little extra information.
Like when the Isobel and Rachel were on the run what happened to them how they got to safty. It also talks about what Isobel gave up just to keep her sister safe.
Lastly its about Isobel and Frank like the last day she spent with Frank and what she did that day before the bomb went of.
If you like The Running Games and want to know more about everything. I suggest finding and reading this really short Novella.

Truly intriguing

This is a short action-packed story with an exciting pace, a cliffhanger from page one, keeping the tension and intrigue pulsating till the very end. It offers a very clear style of writing, fascinating characters you root for and engage with from the start, and I am not talking only about the two little sisters in peril, both of them endowed with special powers, but also the adults around them. The social intrigue behind the plot is hinted at just enough to make you wonder. The story is definitely a great bait to get you hooked on the Reachers and make you want to read the novel which follows - The Running Game.

Another quick, easy and fascinating read from the Reacher Series.
This one gives some background into Rachel.

I've enjoyed all the short stories in this series, as well as The Running Game and am looking forward to reading Border Lines.
