Lesson Learned: Mission Report #1

Rate this book
New recruit Agent Carrie Harris is deployed on assignment at last, but instead of the cut-and-thrust of a sprawling city, hunting the worst enemies of the state, she is placed as an au pair living with a family in the middle of nowhere, left only with two simple commands ringing in her ears.

Observe. Report.

After surviving the highly secret Special Operations candidate selection process, along with her first assignment (Operation Dawn Wolf), Carrie finds the slow pace of life difficult to adjust to. At first unsettled by the calm, she slowly relaxes into the distractions of suburban living, and friendships blossom in the unlikeliest of places.

As the weeks go by, still not knowing her purpose and with nothing other than the mundane to report, will Carrie keep focused when the tedious veneer cracks to reveal the deplorable reason for her dispatch? Can she be ready to act, ditching the temptation to make her cover story real, or revert to be the honed, ruthless operator again? Will she make the right choices or be sucked into a different life, distracted by a passion which threatens to overwhelm her?

Book 2 in the Agent Carrie Harris Series.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

I loved this book. Carrie is living undercover in the suburbs observing and reporting on the family she lives with but the family next door are more interesting, can she put aside her personal feelings to fulfil her assignment. This book is full of twists and turns, keeping you guessing as to what will happen next. This is incredibly well written and the characters well developed. Give it a read, you won't regret it.

Lesson Learned tells us a more complete story of Agent Carrie. The writing was good and the story very interesting. It is not the normal Agent Carrie story with non stop action. This book delves into the mind of Carrie and I did enjoy it a lot. The romantic relationship part of Agent Carrie was to me the most enlightening part of the book. Lesson Learned is a must read if you really like the character of Agent Carrie.

After reading the first book "Operation Dawn Wolf" I didn't think this series could outdo itself, but it did! I absolutely LOVED this book. Carrie is a force to be reckoned with, even if she makes bad choices sometimes. I won't spoil the book, but I will say, if you haven't read Operation - do so and if you have - read this now. You will enjoy it.

Audiobook: I was entertained by this book as much as the book which described Carrie Harris' induction into the service. I admired Agent Carrie Harris ability to adjust and handle whatever obstacles came her way as she dealt with the adjustments of working as an au pair in the suburbs. I liked this new facet of Carrie's personality. Although there were some difficult events which made me a little uncomfortable, I rooted for Carrie as she faced the final confrontation. I thought Deborah Balm's narration was brilliant and her performance was easy to follow. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

After the first book which was a class apart (the mode of writing the entire novel based on transcripts was unique), this one was a bit of a let down. Probably standalone, it would have rated a 4 on 5 but as a successor to the first book, it just did not grip enough. Rather than the mystery of the chase, the book concentrated more on Carrie's sex adventures. Though the author did pull back a little towards the end, it was simply not enough.
