I'm a lover of the written word and imaginary worlds and have been from a very young age.
My first forays into writing were stories I wrote to amuse myself - since then I like to think my writing has matured - perhaps more than I have!
Reading is a passion, although I suspect I have far more books than I'll ever have time to read and collecting new books is a pleasant addiction and a fabulous time waster.
Writing is a joyful undertaking conducted with copious amounts of journals, planners and more pens than I'm willing to admit I've bought over the years. Suffice to say I own a multitude of shelves and pencil cases to store it all.
I adore pandas and penguins, elephants and manatees and fluffy butts of all varieties.
Life is taken up with the aforementioned occupations, plus life with the Darling Husband and our four adult children.
Filling up the last of my spare time are the two furry children; Mollie, a rescue Cane Corso/Mastiff and Stanley, the hyperactive American Staffy/Possible Catahoula.
And just in case there are a couple of minutes left over, the Darling Husband and I are planning to build our own house in the hills outside Perth, Western Australia during 2025/2026!
To wake up in a cold dank room would be frightening but not to know how you got there would be worse. How much punishment can a person take before their body and mind just gives up. Charlotte knew she could put up with anything except someone else being killed because of her. This book is where is first meets Conal and realises there is not much time before the change affects him. At last Lucas’s Kiss and Conal’s Pack meet, I could feel the tension in the room and could not read fast enough to see if they get into a fight. If only all wars could be handled the way this was accomplished life would be so much better for us all. Again, I found myself laughing aloud at the antics Charlotte and Striker got up to. I found this book - Knowledge Quickening – had me going through the different facets of my feelings from anger to sadness to laughter and sorrow. Towards the end, everything started to happen. Charlotte found out whom she really was training to understand her ‘gift’ and finding it easier than she thought. The tricky part was coming up with a plan to rescue the Tines. Arriving at the Castle Charlotte realized things were worse then she thought but she had to ignore it all for the plan to succeed. Her first glimpse of Archangelo made her wonder if they were born twins and separated at birth. The fighting was gruesome, who would win the battle and could they save the Tines? I can’t wait to read The Nememiah Chronicles - Knowledge Hurts Book 3 to continue with this great series.
I enjoyed the first book in this series ... But I *loved* the second. In this book, the author shifts the action into top gear and never looks back. The heroine takes control of her destiny - if not her heart - and becomes a force to be reckoned with. I would definitely recommend this series to fans if paranormal romance/ action, and can't wait for the next one in the series!
This was a great follow up from the first book in the series. D.S. Williams has done a great job introducing lots of new elements, making this book much more complex than the first. There's plenty of action and the plot moves along at a great pace. If you're looking series with a paranormal creature of every kind - this is the one for you. Can't wait to read the third book!
This author was great, so much so that any editing errors were easily overlooked. The book picked up were it left off from book one, it did so smoothly and adventurously. It kept me hooked just as well as book one and indeed ended in a Hichcock glory fashion. It was well worth the money and very affordable. Enjoy!
Great book. I couldn’t put it down. I am so looking forward to reading the next book. There were so many twists and turns that couldn’t predict what what might happen next. Anyone who liked the Twilight series will absolutely love this one. Thanks again for the entertainment.
As someone who read a lot of vampire books back in the day, I can confidently say that this book is heavily, HEAVILY influenced by New Moon. And shamelessly too, apparently, because it's so obvious. From the "I dump by vampire boyfriend and get together with my werewolf bestie" to the "flying to a foreign country to rescue my vampire boyfriend off the hands of the evil vampire government". I mean... okay?
All of that aside, I did enjoy reading the parts of the book that were a bit more original, and, to my surprise, I was really rooting for the werewolf for once. I wish the author would've gone with that relationship instead of the Twilight copy, but that's just my opinion.
As a side note: I didn't read the first book and still managed to follow the story and enjoy this one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The Nememiah Chronicles – Knowledge Quickening by D. S. Williams picks up the story at the cliff-hanger from the first book in the series. "It was patently obvious that I was in trouble. Serious trouble." Right from the start, Charlotte Duncan must tap into her skills, develop new ones, and find ways to save herself and her friends. Like the first book, the story sweeps along, and I kept turning the pages to see what was happening. As Charlotte extricates herself from one difficulty, she gets into another.
In addition to these problems, Charlotte must make difficult personal decisions. Sometimes she is be a little whinny and I wonder how someone so brave can be so insecure; but she is only 20 years old and without a compass to guide her.
There is little back-fill and I recommend reading the books in order. There are many surprises and twists. Once again, the book ends with open questions, leaving you wanting more.
First a vampire, now a werewolf...life certainly gets interesting for Charlotte as desperate circumstances force her to choose to do things she never thought possible. Far from suicidal, now she's determined to do anything she can to live. Ah, but that's where the bonds of love, loyalty and blood come in...
Ooh, it's so hard not giving any spoilers in this review, given you really MUST start by reading the first book (Knowledge Revealed) before starting this one.
Demons, shapeshifters, werewolves, vampires and a warlock make appearances in this book - as Charlotte discovers that one human girl might just be able to hold her own among all these mythical creatures...
Five stars. Sorry, I'm too impatient to write a longer review - I want to start reading the next book right away.
