At the edge of extinction, it was the corporations who rose victorious on the North American Continent. The four mega-corps squabble for power and resources, carrying out proxy wars in the barren wastelands through contracted mercenaries piloting heavily armed mechs. There is no law but that of violence and betrayal in this gritty, post-apocalyptic vision of the future.
In the wastelands of the Midwest, at the execution of an elite corporate soldier, Sergeant Shepherd becomes the reluctant hero of the mercenary uprising. Their Imperial’s satellite Chicago Dome. With his commander straddling life and death, does Shepherd possess the will to lead the cutthroat mercenary forces to victory and a new home?
Within the Denver Dome, Colin Willard is the heir to the mega-corp Imperial Geo-Industries, but is he willing to give up everything for the chance to undo the destruction his family has inflicted upon the Earth? Gifted in applied sciences, he may hold the key and resources to change everything for the savaged Earth. Will he follow the righteous path to salvation or allow the soul-crushing weight of absolute power to turn him into the villain? The closer he comes to a solution, the more twisted the conspiracy to keep the world mired in desolation becomes. But who is behind it?
Their paths will cross in a devastating mech-on-mech battle that could be humanity’s undoing—or its salvation.
A frightening vision of post-apocalyptical life and what it does to the survivors. The world, as we know it, gone. All that's left is a radioactive ravaged wasteland, oxygen levels depleted, where life is only viable inside protected domes, which are owned by one of four corporations, each ruled by a CEO with the power of an absolute monarch. Welcome to the future. War is now carried out by ARCs (Armed Robotic Craft) piloted by a single person. Politics and betrayal between the four corporations is rife as people lie and cheat to exist and expand their sphere of control without breaking the treaty that ended the last world war. The story follows Colin, the son of Imperial's CEO, and a mercenary as their ideals battle with the realities of the world they live in, forcing sacrifices which shouldn't be made. I think the author does a great job, his gritty and harsh style fits perfectly with this hell on Earth. Well written, believable characters, this portrayal of how the world could end should be on your to-be-read list.

As the name implies, AFTERMATH takes place after the world has been decimated. Most of the population live in domes. Many have Armed Robotic Crafts that are piloted by the humans that own them. The governments: corporations. And isn’t that a chilling thought? Colin Willard, heir to Imperial Geo Industries, is determined to reverse the damage his family has caused but he’s unprepared for the burden of power and how it will affect his plans. He soon finds out that everything isn’t black and white but varying shades of gray. Now, he must decide whether to forge on against harsh odds or become part of the system he’s fought against all his life. This is a well-written, thought-provoking sci fi thriller. DeMarco has built a world that strikes close to home with its environmentally-challenged dystopia. Pointing out the horrors that await us if we don’t make a serious effort to save the planet AND a reminder for people of power to keep their greed in check. This book is highly recommended for those who love sci fi post-apocalyptic thrillers. Kudos to DeMarco on a well-told tale.
