The Abyssal demigoddess, Xanos, has nearly destroyed the Overworld.
During a recon mission of a Razor Echelon base, Justin and Elyssa uncover Xanos's new weapon.
The Apocryphan is building a portal device that could allow her to transport troops anywhere, including right in the middle of Queens Gate. The Eden forces have nowhere else to run, so Justin seeks the aid of allies to prevent the obliteration of the supernatural resistance.
They learn that a woman might be the key to salvation. She has the power to open portals between realms and from one place to another within realms. With her help, they could counter Xanos before the portal device is completed.
But first, they have to find this woman. She's been missing for years, presumably hiding from Baal and his minions in another realm. Justin discovers there might be a way to track the portals she's opened before. So he and the gang start off on their most dangerous mission traversing unknown realms with the faintest hope of finding the one woman who might save them all.
Another fantastic story from John Corwin. It amazes me how John always has a way of keeping this series fresh, fun & highly entertaining. Just when you think Justin Slade and his entourage have saved the world, there’s always someone else to ruin his plans. I love this series so much. The narration is absolutely brilliant. Austin Rising is amazing. This is book 17 and the adventures continue on. Be sure to check out the additional spin-off series that fall within this series to add to your experience. I highly recommend this book/series.
Justin and company have to deal with a battle between godlike beings who both want to take over everything. With Cabos, a daughter of Eve on one side and Baal, of the underworld on the other and all of humanity and the other races stuck in between, things look grim. Can they defeat these enemies and save everyone? I'm not saying...
We meet the apocryphan and her siblings find out some interesting facts about Baal get a glimpse of a few other dimensions Justin almost dies again again and we meet some other interesting characters
The ever growing cast across the three series finally fights together side by side against world domination. What amazes me is how even though all the action centers around the 3 main characters, the other characters still get their own moments to shine. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next book.
