Barbarians of Rome #3

Ima: Barbarians of Rome, Book Three

Rate this book
Warmaiden Ima has survived the cataclysm sparked by the Alemanni. Now she finds herself in an alien world. The walls of Rome are the only haven for the German refugees, but the Romans have other plans. The refugees are being sent away, and Ima--as their self-appointed defender--must guard her charges against the dangers of the unknown frontier. Meanwhile, destinies intertwine as the last survivors of a dying race fight annihilation and a familiar pirate returns in glory to a changing land.

Ima is the third novel in a series about ancient Rome. In the fourth century AD, the balance of power is shifting. Rome's legions are away, and budding kingdoms struggle for dominance in the lawless marches where fortunes shift as quickly as the wind. The time of the Franks is at hand. Will our heroes be able to weather this storm?

Hi! My name is James Walker and I am a Psychiatrist from Atlanta, GA. I got into writing out of a passion for telling the sort of stories that I love to read. My favorite genres are historical fiction and sci-fi. I enjoy exciting adventures with believable characters and good villains. I've made a personal goal of writing a book every year! The Barbarians of Rome series has five books planned already, I just finished a psychological adventure story and I'm halfway through writing a fun sci-fi book. When I'm not writing I enjoy traveling and riding motorcycles. Thanks for taking the time to read my stories! It means a whole heck of a lot to me. Feel free to send me your questions and I'll try and get back to you right away!

Have read this so slowly to keep it going as long as possible, but finally came to the end 😅 so excited to know there is another on it's way. This series NEEDS it's own show.
Thank you author, James Walker, for these books, I have loved them all.

Ima, Barbarians of Rome III is a historical drama of the first order. Well researched and based on a little explored time in Eastern European history. Ima is warrior leader displaced from her homeland and seeking a new home for people. Her last home was on the edge of the Roman frontier and under the rule and protection of Rome. But Rome abandoned her and her community. What else could she do?
The story was superbly researched and had a profound sense of reality throughout. I often had the impression that the James Walker must have actually lived in the era of Spears and swords to achieve such an air of authenticity.
I read and write for pleasure. Ima was a comfortable, pleasurable read. This series is a gift to historical drama fans. Absolutely, five stars.

Building of a new home.

Once again an easy five stars. This book has all the ingredients which made the previous novels such a joy to read. Outstanding characterisation and such a compelling story with action, romance and dogged determination to overcome adversity.
