The book has good points that I find valuable, I recommend it to people that are full of ideas and not sure what to do with them.

Ever had an idea for a small physical product? Or an idea for improving an existing product? Getting the idea is the first (and an important) step. This book will teach you how to move past the idea stage and make a successful business around it.

Book Title: Simple Idea for Startups and Entrepreneurs: Live Your Dreams and Create Your Own Profitable Company.
About the Author: Stephen Key is an inventor and co-founder of inventRight, LLC.

This book will give you the required breadth of knowledge regarding the steps, one follows for bringing an idea of a physical product to market and making money out of it. (Exceptions are always there. There aren't any hard rules in the field of business).

Is this book good for you? If you have an idea for a "simple" physical product — not a website, not an app, not a flying car, not a big industrial machine, but a simple consumer-centric product, that you can sell for few hundred bucks AND you wish to set up a profitable business around it, then this book will give you a headstart.

What did I like the most? Two things. First — the book is filled with case studies for every step. And case studies are not only from author's products but from different people worldwide having brought their products in the market. Second — I felt this book as a "complete" step by step process. From pricing to manufacturing to distribution to retail, the book covers all steps in good detail.

What I didn't like? A lot of examples — for both case studies and resources are for people based in the US. (But if you are smart enough you can search out the similar resources existing in your country).

As a serious reader, you would end up taking lots of notes and bookmarking various resources mentioned in the book. So, read with a pencil in hand or better take separate notes. I have, myself brought a couple of products in the market and I was quite amused by getting 70-80% of the steps right. In hindsight, after reading this book, I noted many areas of improvement which I didn't focus on.

P.S. If you don't wish to start a company, he has got another book for you, on licensing your idea into a gold mine.

The writer is an expert on the topic and it is a very well-organized book. However, I found it quite outdated. (book calls today's world wired) Probably you will find new books with more recent content.

Only interesting if you really try to invent and patent a product. Otherwise not really useful.

Some good information to use after you've created an idea and are ready to go to market. Interesting thoughts on the value of a patent.
