What if the Frankenstein creature didn't die in a fire, on a crumbling castle, or on a glacier? What if he never died at all?
Adam Frankenstein, a product of science and magic. A creature of horror, come to life. In this re-imagining of Mary Shelley's famous creature, Adam is still alive and his stories are that of legend. A lonely and reluctant hero looking for redemption and salvation through the ages.
Four stories, through the years, follow Adam as he struggles to understand his place in a world of men who would reject him, kill him. He looks to create humanity in himself while questioning those who were born with it.
"Mary Shelley's League of Supernatural Origins of Adam": Mary Shelley learns of supernatural creatures and real meaning of the word monster as she encounters a man unlike any other. A creature not born of woman, but created from the body of a circus strongman killed while trying to save a lion tamer. She must decide who to the vampire, the witch, the mad scientist, or the creature. Either way, Mary's seen enough to know she will need an army to fight those things not easily killed.
"Frankenstein's Companion": 19th century England, friendless and alone in the world, Adam Frankenstein, the creation of a mad scientist and his witch lover, becomes an assassin for hire. When a powerful mage hires him to find his kidnapped daughter and kill the man who took her, Adam strikes a bargain of his own. The mage has an immortal dog and Adam will do anything to own it.
"The Therapist and the Dead": Brooklyn, New York, in the 1980s was a place where monsters could blend in. Life has been long and cruel, so Adam keeps his appointment with Dr. Stein, the most expensive and sought after psychologist in the city, to talk of immortality and murder.
"Adam Frankenstein, US Marshal": Adam joins the 21st Century, and takes up residence in Houston, Texas.

I think I fell in LOVE with Adam Frankenstein! I couldn't put these stories down. I was hooked from the first page and kept going. I can't tell you much about the story, I don't want to spoil the surprises. But this is a must read, so put it on your Halloween to read list! You won't be disappointed.
Audio Book Review: This story just gets better and better! Just hearing someone else read it put me back in summer camp, and telling scary, thrilling stories around the camp fire. I seriously wanted to go out and build a fire and roast marshmallows while listening, and if it stormed, it would be even better! The gist is go get this book, it's AMAZING! Adam and his story won't disappoint.
I loved Sheila English's novel, Adam Frankenstein: A Collection of Short Stories. Each story was unique and intriguing. The entire book was read in one sitting as I couldn't stop reading. Sheila did an excellent job writing the stories and kept the pace moving.
This was a great collection of short stories, the characters were great and I loved each tale told. The author was able to write a wonderful read that each story flowed well.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What if Frankenstein’s monster became a US Marshal? And Mary Shelley teamed with Dracula to form a league of monster hunters? Some glimpses of the shadow world that humanity doesn’t see and a little immortal dog that is Adam Frankenstein’s best friend.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I selected this book. It's not my usual genre for relaxing reading, but the premise of the story of Frankenstein intrigued me.
This is actually a compilation of four stories that take the reader through the immortal lifetime of Adam Frankenstein. He is not the monster of Hollywood lore, but a creation not unlike the rest of us. His appearance into the world however, was a bit different than the usual way.
We meet him when he breaths his first breath of life and follow his struggles of growth, learning acceptance, and bullying. He is indeed different and that causes tremendous grief throughout his life.
What struck me most was the level of emotion in the writing. I found myself sniffling back tears feeling the horrid loneliness that Adam faced, then smiling when through a deal he find a soul-mate - sort of - an immortal dog.
I won't give too much away, but Adam ends up in what almost feels like a world created just for him, law enforcement. I mean who wouldn't want a big guy like Adam Frankenstein fighting bad guys? The trouble comes when the bad guys learn where he is most vulnerable, and attempt to take advantage.
This is an awesome start to a truly unique series and I hope the author continues Adam's saga. I look forward to discovering where 'time' takes him.
I just finished reading Adam Frankenstein: A Collection of Short Stories and my first question is, what is he up to now? Sheila English breathes life into this character in the first of her collection of short stories about the “monster”. He is given a name (by Mary Shelley) and a purpose in life and the reader can’t help but root for him to find his soul. Likely that soul is conceived when he decides to take Bella, a harlequin min-pin, from a cruel mage. Now that I’ve met him, I can’t wait to read more about Adam’s exploits.
This was very interesting, personally I appreciated the character tie-in of the classic authors, the only thing I love more than books are their authors. Each story in this book was well laid out making it an easy read to flow through the pages. If you like the classic horror stories you would probably like this book because it is kinda like a continuation for the characters from a completely fresh perspective. So give it a try!
Loved it. A great twist on literary monsters and the authors' who wrote them...Especially, Frankenstein's "monster" and the life he lives among us, told through various short stories. Awesome book for people who love the what if and the dog lovers out there!
I am a big fan of the original Frankenstein and I normally do not like when people mess with something that is already awesome. But this was different. This was really good! I loved the first story the best showing a totally different look at what we all know about Frankenstein. But when the last story ended, I found myself wanting more. That sums it up - so good you will not want the story to end. "I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review."
