Brady Clark is a licensed physical therapist. She's trying to recover from the death of her only remaining family member, and lives a life that is orderly and controlled, refusing to allow anyone or anything to upset that balance.

Skylar Preston likes to live on the edge, whether that means fast bikes or fast women. She depends on no one but herself - life has taught her one no one hangs around long enough to matter. Before she can be released from the hospital after a serious motorcycle accident, she has to meet with one of the physical therapists. She doesn't like depending on others, which makes Brady Clark's role in her life obtrusive and annoying.

Both women are struggling with the ghosts of their pasts and a new relationship could be disastrous, but if they can listen to their hearts, it just might be worth the risk.

This romance is right up my alley! I couldn’t give it 5 stars because an important event at the end of the book was kind of rushed in my opinion, but everything else was close to perfection. Brady and Sky are your friends, your neighbors, ordinary people falling in love. I can’t describe it, but I love that feeling: that this could be my story, that this story is real, about real people.

Brady Clark is a licensed physical therapist working to help Skylar Preston, who has an injured leg after being involved in a motorcycle accident. These strong and independent women are not looking for commitment, but their therapist-patient routine starts to change when the desire for each other becomes undeniable.

Brady was very expressive, and Sky wondered what it would be like to have her writhing in pleasure, to feel her body succumb, to watch the play of emotions across her face as she came in her arms.

There is no instalove here. You can enjoy their banter, then that moment when they show vulnerability and, later, their struggle to do what must be done to keep what they have. I'm not ashamed to say that I like emotion AND sex in my books. Second to None gave me the best of both - I cried like a baby when Sky found out the truth about her parents and I lost my breath when Sky and Brady had sex.

My f/f shelf needs more books like this one.

Love wasn’t about making excuses. It was about making concessions. Love made people want to find ways to work out their problems so they could be together.

The heroines of this romance novel are Brady, a physical therapist and Skyler, who owns a custom motor cycle shop. They meet after Skyler is hurt in a motor cycle accident and reluctantly agrees to see Brady for physical therapy. Despite each women’s inner demons, and reluctance to be in a relationship, they are very attracted to each other.

Since this is a ROMANCE, I assumed they would eventually acknowledge their desire for each other and have a HEA, but the fun was reading how they got there.

This is a rather delightful story. There is an evolving attraction between a physical therapist and her patient that is presented in a very believable, beautifully handled fashion, including all manner of ups and downs as might be expected between these two women. This is a winner. Incredible!

Skylar Preston, Sky, is severely injured in a motorcycle accident where she was dramatically thrown from her cycle and incurred a major leg injury. She has deep roots and an established business in the Stanford, Ca area. Very talented and dynamic, but she has some complicated baggage from her youth and this accident, naturally, comes at a most inopportune time. She is also capable of slinging a whole host of smart-ass retorts and doesn't hesitate to flip them at any and all, but perhaps most especially at the physical therapist who kind of wangled her into doing this post surgery therapy in the first place. Nevertheless, Sky knows she is feeling something way different toward her physical therapist than she ever has for anyone not in her family. Intriguing!

Brady Clark is an intern while she is completing her Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. The internship doesn't pay, but it is essential. So, add-on jobs are needed to cover costs. That has Brady pretty much running her tail off seven days a week and more than eight hours a day. But she is young, very healthy, and capable, plus it is her choice and she really prefers to always be in control. Sky kind of knocks her socks off though, but it is a career ender if one has sex with a patient. So Brady puts all brakes on while she is assisting Sky during her healing process. However, there is a huge 'elephant in the living room' that is never really banished from Brady's consciousness and could very well have her lose out on something she wants and probably needs. Brady, I love you but you really need to lighten up!

When Brady and Sky are together, the undercurrents are astounding, but deep-seated and profoundly ingrained attitudes appear like fundamental and impenetrable walls. Pile on top of that, Sky has a profitable business, with employees who are like family. Brady's pursuit of a starting position after receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in reality has a high percentage chance of requiring a long distance move. Sheesh, these two need to be together though. One of them may simply need to tell the other, she is “second to none”. Fantabulous!

This book was so infuriating. The two main characters kept assuming things about each other, and then basing their relationship decisions on them. How hard is it to be an adult and talk to one another?! Also, the author kept writing sex scenes that didn't make sense. I have been turned on many, many times before, and in none of those times did the crotch of my pants become tighter. EVER. Oh, and the whole "blue" thing was dumb. I never questioned the character's nickname because her other nickname was Sky and skies are blue. There could have been better character development, with growth in maturity for Sky.

I wanted to love this novel. I'm disabled, trained as an medical assistant, queer, and definitely think motorcycles are hot. Yet I was too annoyed to love everything. I hope others enjoyed it more than I did.

Second To None is about a romance between a physical therapist and her patient. They both work long hours and the relationship takes its time to blossom. This is a good lesbian romance and it is well written. L.T.Marie is a good author.

Five star story

I'm so glad I had the time to read this in one sitting because it's a first rate story with endearing characters and a pulsing telling of it.
