"Daniel Rusteen's authoritative book is as comprehensive as it is enjoyable to read. I have never seen so much valuable, actionable advice in one place for an Airbnb host. Highly recommended!" (Chip Conley, author and strategic advisor, Airbnb)
"If you don't read this book, there will be a lot that you don't know that you don't know." (Symon He, author, in his foreword for Optimize Your Bnb)
This is the best book on Airbnb hosting that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. The book was clearly written and contains numerous examples that were helpful for me when starting my listing. The authors writing style is easy to follow, and he provides a lot of tips that I have not seen in any of the other Airbnb books that I’ve read. The section on what to do during the slow season was especially insightful. All of the product reviews were also fantastic, and I learned a lot about smart pricing.
For future editions, I’d love to have more content on: merits and dismerits of Weekly/monthly discounts; leveraging AirDNA data; accepting children/infants or no; cohosting and property management.
As a final note, the authors YouTube channel is very helpful and insightful.
I liked how Danny covered so many things to help rookie hosts. While reading I often stopped and started doing what he recommended, immediately. Many of the companies recommended let you get started for free or for little.
In less than a week I have seen a significant increase in my rankings and I even got some bookings too. I will often refer back to this book on my journey.
Some of the links need to be updated as they were broken.
I recommend this book to anyone starting a short-term rental and to experienced operators as well.
I gave Optimize Your Bnb a 5-star review because it is a 1-stop shop to get started or restarted as a short term host.
If you own an air bnb you really need to read this. You will make your money back on it in minutes. My only suggestion for improvement is to add a lot more tips about the safety and security of the home and the potential to eliminate bad guests much earlier in the book. My bookings increased so quickly that we had some major security flubs before I could figure out where we had gone wrong. The author is very friendly and helpful and he will actually respond to any questions or suggestions that you might have, that is some serious customer service.
Very good book with plenty of useful and easy-to-do advice. The only reason that i will not give a 5 stars is that some chapters in the last half of the book sound a bit like advertising for Airbnb themselves, and the overly optimistic tone doesn't bring to the table some of the difficulties that may be experienced.
Get the book if you take your Airbnb hosting seriously or if you want to grow and become an expert in the industry. You’ll benefit greatly from buying this book. The list of recommended softwares is worth the price of the book. Very helpful stuff!!
Lots of good information. Terrible idea to get the audiobook as it clearly had lots of pictures and screenshots that they didn’t fully describe in the audio, so in retrospect I wish I would’ve just gotten a hardcopy!
Very very helpful information. A quick easy read with bullet points to help tips stand out. It's already helped me with my listing and I've taken lots of notes so I can incorporate more of his suggestions.
Slightly dated as some Airbnb policies have changed, but essential reading, especially for a new host. Very helpful— gets right to the point and organized well. I’m confident I will reference it when issues arise.
The amount of useable information in this book was over whelming. Daniel really loaded this book up without the long winded explanations. Tons of links. Almost like a reference guide.
You should read this book if you are getting into the short term game. It dives deep into a few areas that really matter... and a couple that probably don't matter as much, but that's ok.
