Sigmund Freud: Pocket Biographies

Rate this book
In recent times, both the man, and the discipline he invented - psychoanalysis - have come under a re-evaluation on both sides of the Atlantic. This book depicts Freud's life and ideas, from his birth above a blacksmith's forge in a secluded corner of the Austro-Hungarian empire to his death in London in 1939, where he had come as a refugee from Nazi Europe.

It was a very accessible style and enjoyable to read. Full of details about Freud's life which are rarely mentioned.

This is one of those very short biographies, that tend to focus on the person more than the ideas - and I like it to be the other way around. The book is overall good and accessible, although it is short, I do think it gives a decent introduction to Freud. I also like that it is a good amount of critical.
