Romancing His Rival is probably the easiest thing I read all year. I'm talking Hallmark level of sweetness here. I kept imagining this as a movie, and I don't think it would be far-fetched.
It took me some suspension of disbelief, though, hence the 3.5 I rounded up to 3.

"He's been a constant in my life ever since we were toddlers. Playful, sometimes irritating, always magnetic, never far out of reach."
Noah is a bachelor, working for his father's marketing company. He has this big heart on him, and he likes to go with the flow. I really liked it that he was the one pining for Olivia, and not the other way round, and that he was always so forthcoming about how he felt.

"I'm not sure how or when it happened, but she's become mine. She's the first thing I think about when I wake, and the last on my mind before I drift off to sleep."
Olivia is an obvious overachiever. She works at the same company as Noah, because their parents started the company together, and she's studied all her life to take charge of the company. She's meticulous, professional, and feisty.

They are clearly opposites: the relaxed guy against the sort-of-uptight girl. Moreover, when Olivia made her moves on him when she was a teenager, he rejected her, so she moved on. But now, with his father dead, and her father fighting cancer, the issue of the future of the company is an important one.

"Why do you call me Snowflake?
He steps closer and runs one finger along my cheek, making my skin tingle in its wake. "Because you're just like a snowflake. Sometimes cold, but beautiful and unique."

And this is where it starts to feel off for me.
One, it never felt as if they truly were enemies, much less that she hates him at all. They're just the sort of friends who annoy each other incessantly. I would have loved more banter.
Two, there's a clause in a contract established between their parents where they need to marry each other to become company co-CEOs. Although I sort of understand why they did it, and that it adds yet another element of sweetness, it doesn't make full sense to me.
And three... the other clause within the contract... no, just no. More on this in the spoilers below, click if you want to.

"The man who so quickly became my friend, my groom, and finally my lover. Not the order that most people do romance in...but I wouldn't have it any other way, because this is our story.
In the end, it all works out. There's a lot of pushing and pulling between them, some miscommunication, some realization (particularly on Olivia’s side), and some trips down memory lane that were heartwarming. I especially loved everything Noah did to finally win Olivia over.

If you're looking for something sweet and easy, this is your book.

I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and this is my honest review.

5 Star Review of Romancing His Rival by Poppy St James

Poppy St James is a relatively new author to me. Romancing His Rival was a sweet, romantic well written story that had me smiling throughout my read. From the first chapter to the last I was drawn into the story Ms. St James wove about Noah and Olivia.

These two could not be more opposite and yet they work well as a couple. I fell hard for Noah and I could easily see Olivia as a friend.

Noah is determined to save his father’s business so with that in mind he has a limited time to convince Olivia to take a chance. What starts out as a fake relationship quickly morphs into so much more when feelings become involved.

Their chemistry is intense, their banter witty and the characters were easy to relate to and like.

Can Noah convince Olivia to take a leap of faith and trust that he will be there to catch her?

One click and find out.

I enjoyed this book by Poppy St James!Love the mix of enemies to lovers/arranged marriage/childhood connection/forced proximity in this book
Noah and Olivia are forced into an arranged marriage to save their families businesses. Both fathers had drawn up contracts years ago that stated they would co run the companies together as a married couple.
Loved the spark between these two and how they eventually came together.
It wasn't an easy road to their HEA, but well worth it!

I’ve been following Kendall Ryan for quite a while now and her covers are one of the big factors that just pull me in. Now that she’s writing under another name it’s interesting getting to see her write under a different genre.
I did start this book a while back but when it was published under Kendall’s name, and the volume that I read of this I thought it was such a great start to something quite amazing.
I wasn’t sure what was going to happen from where I left off, but I have to say it was a pretty interesting read.
It’s clear that she has talent and I love that she’s spreading out her work and making a name for herself.
I was hooked to the story from the minute I started reading and Noah… I thought he was just incredible, it’s clear that there’s more to him and that most of the time people see a version of him that they tend to see fit, but in reality he’s such a sweet guy and only wants the best for those around him.
I thought he was such a strong character, at times he did seem like he was the typical playboy that you’d normally read about, but there’s the sweet side there and you can’t help but get swept up in the moment.
If I had a guy who was completely devoted to me in the same way that Noah was with Olivia, and though it didn’t seem real, I would still go ahead and be all for it because I know that deep down there’s most likely a reason behind everything.
I thought the plot was incredible, and I’m interested in seeing if either Sterling or Camryn get their own story as I’m hooked from just reading about Noah and Olivia.

Noah has been in love with Olivia for as long as he can remember, the fact that their dad’s own company the company they both work for helps things, however whilst they both are where they want to be on life, everything is set to be ripped apart from them at the hands of the board members.
In order to save their dreams, inheritance and everything their dad’s have worked so hard with, they must get married… To Noah, he’s all head over heels with the idea, as he loves Olivia with all his heart, he just may not be ready to admit it out loud, but with Olivia close to not going along with marrying him, they could literally lose it all.
Will Noah be able to convince Olivia that this is the right thing for them to do so that it saves so many people’s jobs, their family business and most importantly honouring their parents????

Olivia is headstrong and defiant. She knows what she wants and she’s willing to do whatever she needs to get it. She doesn’t view the relationship in the same way that Noah does at least not in the beginning.

Noah. I love him. He’s so cute and cute - I have to say it twice cos double the cuteness. His heart and his attitude towards Olivia softens and changes so much throughout this book. His friendship and relationship with Rosita makes me feel so much.

Noah and Olivia don’t have the most conventional start to their relationship at all. They feel and find themselves in a situation they weren’t expecting. I like that they both have a joint goal but drastically different ideas about how they’re going to get there. It makes for an interesting story. Definitely recommend for sure.

Somehow, I still don't know why Olivia hated Noah..

Olivia and Noah have been in each other's lives since forever. And their parents knew they are meant for each other, so they wrote a stipulation in their wills for these two to marry in order to inherit the family business.

But it's hard for Olivia to accept she has to marry Noah but saving the family business is more important. Along the way, growing up, Olivia couldn't stand Noah as much as during their childhood. For Noah, Olivia has always been the perfect girl. This marriage is going to be a real one for him if Olivia agrees to it. And maybe have Olivia fall in love with him.

I fairly enjoyed this book. I enjoyed their banter. And I loved that Noah worked really hard and do just about anything to break down Olivia's walls.

4.5 star review for this extremely well written book.
Romancing His Rival by Poppy St James is a wonderful story of two friends who have known each other since childhood.
Noah needs to secure his father’s business he needs Poppy’s help , a commitment from Poppy .
For this to work they decided on a fake relationship .

The way Poppy presses all of Noah’s buttons constantly is hilarious , Noah retaliates with his teasing remarks and his sexual innuendos are perfect.

An extremely interesting story added with Poppy and Noah who together are passionate for their work and perhaps for themselves?

This is a great read, I highly recommend this book.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! The two of them grew up together, their fathers built an enterprise together and their family always spent holidays and vacations together. Their parents always saw/wanted them to be more than just friends but that isn’t what they seem to want in fact the really can’t stand each other. Noah sexy as all get out playboy (well that is what’s rumored) and Oliva is a true workaholic striving at her career to be the best. Noah has always had feelings for Olivia (truth be told she has had them for him) he has ninety days to win the women who took his heart so long ago to save his father’s company, but she hates him so how is he going to win her heart? Oliva is feisty, sweet, gives as good as she gets and secretly in love with Noah the guy she has hated since they were younger. The chemistry is intense, the back and forth between them is too funny and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored. Throw in a couple of well-meaning fathers, paperwork that states they must run the company together as a married couple but can they, will they and somewhere along the line find happiness?

Real, Magnetic and Perfect, Poppy St James's "Romancing His Rival" is a flawless, captivating, and intense romance between Noah Tate and Olivia Cane, rivals although they are both next in line as the next Co CEOs of their own 100 billion company founded by their dads. There is no fluff here, instead each word is meticulously chosen, Tate's emotions are so open which are a real revelation and refreshing that we totally wish we had boyfriends like him. Both are workaholics, Olivia more so, being groomed since birth to inherit half of Tate and Cane company. She is extremely dedicated since college while her peers were out partying, she was chairing business symposiums and empowering females in business or keeping abreast of her studies to graduate with honors. Somewhat practical and icy where her views on dating and marriage are concerned, Noah is the opposite, socially adept, flirtatious, carefree, compassionate, romantic, sexy as sin. To his warmth and unabashed passion, Olivia's icy reserved, rare nature has earned her a particular nickname from Noah that attests to his love and familiarity having grown up with each other's family. This book is filled with rare moments to make even the cynics misty eyed while reading of Tate's love for Olivia, their heartbreak, family losses, their determination to fight together to save their inheritance when vultures swoop down to devour it. You will find inspiring moments when Tate will make you swoon with his cooking every time, a fierce protector and attentive husband. Forced into a fake marriage due to an inheritance clause, we see firsthand Olivia's struggles due to a past destructive relationship with a narcissist and Tate, who will try every means at his disposal to woo his wife as they both fight to keep their company afloat as future heirs of Tate and Cane. This book will awaken your heart to the real meaning of a super couple, defying enemies, struggles, fears, pain to win their legacy of a 100billion company and an everlasting love befitting of a movie script!

Poppy St. James’ Romancing His Rival features Noah as the charming playboy and Olivia as the feisty heroine devoted to her work. They’ve known each other forever and were friends until one incident in their college years has Olivia despising Noah. Unfortunately for her, their fathers, who jointly owned a company, have something else in mind for the pair. They’re both set to inherit the family business, but first they’ve got to get married. Noah’s all about it, but Olivia? Not so much. What ensues is a sweet rom-com that I couldn’t put down.

Both Noah and Olivia were strong characters that I enjoyed reading. Their sparring with one another had me giggling and saying “aww” constantly. The jabs, misunderstandings, innuendos, and sweet moments all worked together to create a couple that were just too cute together.

This book is incredibly addictive. It’s every romantic comedy that sucks you in and makes you want to start all over once you’re done with it. There’s a lot of cuteness but also enough tension that you’ll want to keep reading. St. James threw in a bit of a curveball towards the end, and that was it. I couldn’t not find out how it ended, even though I assumed I knew how the book would finish, and I wasn’t disappointed. Nothing was left unsaid, and I’m happy with how it ended. Their relationship finally felt like it had come full circle.

So, if you’re into a rom-com that’s going to keep you interested, Romancing His Rival is for you. It’s got all the pieces that make for a quality page turner that’s going to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

RECEIVED THIS FREE ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW! I'm really upset because I've read this book before but for some reason it's not showing in Goodreads. I did re-read it but wasn't surprised why I couldn't remember reading it from just the blurb. Within reading the first chapter, I knew. Anyway, I finished the book because I signed up to review it. Two heirs have to marry in order to keep their company in both families. So it's an arranged marriage in a way. This book was ok, a slow burn. I didn't like that their parents basically manipulated the entire situation. The lead female was also uptight and seemed to have no personality. I didn't feel any chemistry with the main characters. The story centered mostly around their business and since the characters grew up together, there was no real getting to know you period. So basically, no character buildup. Despite the description, the characters didn't seem like enemies, just two people that didn't get along, or rather she didn't get along with him. The erotic scenes were like warm but not completely steamy and there's very few of them. Not sure I'll read another book by this author. Also not sure why she needed to have this book reviewed when it's been out for awhile. I saw that the book was published previously under another pseudonym.

By the end of the book, I was completely in love with Noah. He's cocky and arrogant and occasionally behaves like a jerk, but when he's sweet it's completely heart melting. He turns into so much sweet, loving mush by the end of this book. Olivia's got her shields in place to keep from being hurt again. They are tall and thick and Noah's not getting inside them easily. it also means that Olivia can't get out of them either. And more than once I wanted to shake the pair of them and tell them to get over themselves; to just be honest and open with one another. I got a bit tired of Olivia's ice princess routine and panic over the possibility of feeling actual feelings for her husband. And Noah's constant cocky SOB attitude rubbed my last nerve the very wrong way. I was so grateful when the two of them kind of got out of their own way and started to genuinely connect, when Olivia finally stopped being such a dithering idiot and owned up to her feelings and desires. Everything's finally out in the open and we can be happy for our hero and heroine without feeling the need to throttle the pair, as much. Now, what's brewing between the best friends?

You have two business partners and apparently its common for them to have wills that leave everything to their children under a few clauses. Like they need to be married, which would be ok i guess if their wasnt a time limit on it, if the company they all work for wasn't going under, and if the health of the last partner wasnt declining at an alarming rate. So it all feels rushed for two people who have of course two different life styles (laid back bachelor and uptight stone cold female.) to debate if they can get married to save their families company. The book spends a lot of time with Noah trying to win the heart of Olivia to make it feel less like a business deal and more like a life time commitment. Then for fun we toss in some bad romance from the past that threatens it all, Olivia's father has series health problems, oh and their company board of trustees is trying to sell the company since they doubt the "clauses of the will" will be taken seriously. Just when you think you heard all of the drama and worked through it all your thrown another curve ball the contract to keep the business in the family under Oliva and Noah has another demand an heir must be created within 90 days of marriage.

Noah and Olivia have been friends from birth. Their fathers are business partners and have been grooming them to take over the company. When Noah’s dad dies, what no one expects is a marriage clause requiring them to get married. Now, they’ve been friends over the years but never dated. Noah has been in love with Olivia for a long time but she doesn’t see Noah and his playboy ways as marriage material. What makes it worse is that the company is struggling so they need to present a united front and work together otherwise the whole company may fall apart. There is a lot that I enjoyed in this story as these two were forced together and had to figure out how to work together. They are both strong and confident, always willing to put in the extra effort to get things done. For two very independent people, can they find a middle ground or even love? Olivia drove me nuts a bit as she kept hiding from her feelings instead of facing what her heart already knew. Overall, a sweet and satisfying romance. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Romancing His Rival was an adorable and sweet read! Noah and Olivia have known each other all their lives and have both always been attracted to each other and supportive of each other but they remained friends and sort of grew apart over the years and became more like acquaintances. A twist they didn't see coming throws them together and forces them to acknowledge their feelings for each other.

I'm not sure if Olivia was just in denial but her feelings for Noah weren't very believable until the very end. Noah seemed to admit to his feelings a lot earlier than Olivia did which is what kept me hanging on to see how everything would turn out.

I wish Olivia had done some more reflecting on her feelings for Noah in her personal thoughts we read.

I can't wait to read Camryn and Sterling's book and hope we get to read more about Olivia and Noah as well. It would be great to read about how Noah and Olivia's life turns out in 5-7 years.

What an amazingly great book! I couldn’t put it down! This is the first time reading from this author and I was not disappointed!

Noah has had a crush on Olivia since they were kids but never told her. Now that he is about to inherit his half of his father’s company, he has the opportunity to finally land the girl. Will he finally land the girl or will a big secret ruin all his hard work?

Olivia has had a crush on Noah since they were kids, but one night a few years ago on a family vacation he turned her down. Now she has guarded her heart. Faced with the chance to finally take her half of her father’s company, she now stands to lose her independence and more. Will she be able to face reality and let her guard down or will her idea of this all just being a big game tear her down?

You’ll have to read for yourself to find the answers and I can promise you won’t be disappointed! I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving a free copy.

Noah and Olivia's Story . . .

Noah and Olivia grew up together as children. But as adults, they are polar opposites. Olivia puts her entire focus on her career, is too serious, stubborn, and has no time for foolish feelings. Noah is playful, loves tormenting her, and has always loved her. He knows she doesn’t like him, and it doesn’t trouble him since he is hopeful he can change all that.

Noah’s father’s death brings their situation to a troublesome problem. A clause in his father’s Will states that they must marry and run the company together or lose the opportunity to inherit. Will her vow to never fall for him remain stubbornly strong? Or can his outgoing nature convince her that they can fall in love and make it work while keeping the family business together as their fathers had planned?

A really enjoyable hate to love story. Olivia has known Noah since they were children, their fathers shared a company however despite being close to him years ago she can’t stand him now. Olivia thinks Noah is so arrogant and he does anything he can to wind her up however when she finds out their parents company is in bother and the only way to try and save it is for her to marry Noah she is devastated. Olivia always dreamed of falling in love and marrying the man of her dreams but despite that, she agrees to marry Noah to save her fathers company, however when she finds out that Noah kept something important from her, it looks like the marriage could be over before it’s started. A really enjoyable story with great characters. Loved the happily ever.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Noah and Olivia are faced with a decision that will effect not only their personal lives but others as well. While they both are focused on saving the company, they enter the relationship from complete opposite sides. Noah is a positive force in her life but it takes time for her to see it. Olivia is everything he wants and needs and he is not willing to lose her. This is a sweet, humorous and somewhat of an enemies to lovers romance. Although it is more a combination of Olivia wanting to be focused elsewhere and his teasing. I enjoyed reading their story. It was mostly a light and heartfelt story with some sadness that brings them together.

Due to the deep friendship that their families share Noah and Olivia have known each other for years. They have recently found out that in order to inherit their father’s companies they must marry each other which doesn’t upset Noah as he has always had feelings for her.

Not only has Olivia has been focused on her family business to the detriment of her personal life but she is well aware of Noah’s romantic past. She doesn’t believe a marriage between them would ever work but she is about to find out that there is a lot more to Noah than she believes.

Humor, heat and all the feels as Noah is determined to show Olivia that they make the perfect partners both personally and professionally.

Noah and Olivia's friendship goes back to their parents' friendships with each other. When a clause in Noah's late father's will dictates that Noah and Olivia marry to retain ownership of the company co-founded by their fathers, Noah welcomes the challenge while Olivia dreads it. They have had feelings for each other that they've long since buried deep. The angst between the two sparks all kinds of flames. The banter keeps things interesting and lively. The love solidifies what their parents also knew about the two...that they belong together forever after. This book keeps the steam behind closed doors. We can all fill in the blanks. Poppy St. James is a talented writer.

I mean...

It's just problematic, lacks a lot of...research? Planning? Development?

1. Skips entire plot points/conflicts. One minute, WE GOT A PLAN, next page, WE DID IT. Like what happened????
2. There's a Mexican stereotype that just feels...ignorant. As a brown person it just didn't sit well. If you write pleaseeee don't make being Mexican someone's personality. We're so much more than tacos y poor with 100's of kids. No haces flojo, pontes las pillas and develop your character PLEASE.
3. The initial flirting felt like straight up sexual harassment. Very predatory. If someone ever made those comments to me I'd be very afraid to share a space with them.

The fluffy stuff just isn't enough to make up for it.

If you are looking for a entertaining, witty and sometimes a tad emotional look no further than Romancing His Rival by Poppy St. James. This is Noah Tate and Olivia Cane’s story.
Noah and Olivia grew up together, their fathers built an enterprise together and their families spent the holidays and vacations together and that meant they always saw a future for their children beyond friendship but as they grew up these childhood friends went in complete opposite directions, Noah became a playboy and Olivia became a workaholic.
Now Noah has ninety days to win over the woman he has always desired in order to save the company. One tiny problem is she hates his guts….
I fell hard and fast for Noah, I adored the sassy and feisty Olivia, the chemistry was sizzling, the banter was witty and their story was captivating. I smiled, I swooned and I giggled as I joined this couple on their journey and I highly recommend this gem of a read.

I had not read the original story published by Kendall Ryan, but I have read and enjoyed some of her books. I was looking forward to reading this new release under her Poppy St. James pen name.

I liked Noah and Olivia and their dynamic. He has had a crush on her for a very long time, but she does not want to fall for him. Things get complicated when he needs her to fall for him to save his Dad's company. They had great chemistry and banter, and it was nice having dual POV.

This was a sweet, fun read and I am looking forward to more from this author!

I enjoyed this so much! Our herione was so timid in this new relationship, but it's understandable. She wanted to find true love and have all the romance. But now she's being forced to marry to save the business her father and his best friend began and she always expected to run one day. Her husband-to-be has always been known as a player, so how could she know if his feelings are true and he's not just laying on his charm to keep the business going. But they are so perfect together and it's so sweet all the ways he tries to make up for his mistakes. I was definitely happy to see them happy in the end!

Noah and Olivia’s lives have been intertwined since their youth. Their fathers share a company which meant they kept company with each other.
Noah has always loved the serious Olivia. Olivia is not as openly smitten.
Fast forward to adulthood and these two seem opposite in so many ways. Yet their feels are undeniable. The characters are both endearing. The fact that the fathers are the matchmakers in sweet. Loved their history and how we really get to know them. This is a sweet read with plenty of banter, humor and heart.

What happens when you’ve got to marry your childhood frenemy to save your family business? That’s the dilemma that Noah and Olivia are in. Although they’re both attracted to each other, Olivia would deny it until she’s blue in the face. She’s that stubborn. Even when Noah bends over backwards to woo her, she stands her ground and fights his advances. I’ve got to say, I would have cracked a lot sooner than Olivia, Noah was just that perfect. Opposites most definitely attract. A truly wonderful story, not offensive in any way, just pure unadulterated romance. I loved it.

If you're in the mood for funny, sarcastic and heartfelt read, you really need to read Romancing His Rival.

Noah Tate and Olivia Cane grew up together, both of their families were close, their fathers built a business together. At one point each of their families assumed they would be together, but as sometimes happens they both go their separate ways. When Noah needs help to secure his fathers business, he turn to his old friend Olivia's help.

A fun enemies to lovers, it's wasn't an easy road for them but in the end they both got their happily ever after.

Noah and Olivia's story is fun, entertaining, sweet and you can feel the chemistry!
I love how these two were childhood friends but their lives took a different path, even tho they have been in each other lives since forever and thanks to their families.
To save their family legacy they need to get married and fast..he is all in but she is not..Will Nosh be able to convince workaholic Olivia to take a chance?
I really enjoyed their banter and their chemistry! The sweet moments certainly didn't hurt!
