Deconstructing Us: My Trouble with a Throuple

Rate this book
First there were two. Then there were three. Then just one.

Are the choices we make always under our control or does the universe purposefully disrupt our journeys, forcing a hand and requiring us to look at our lives from a totally new perspective? When Lucas Walker entered Jeff and David's seemingly comfortable partnership, a new polyamorous relationship was formed—a throuple—changing the trajectory of their lives forever. The power of three was palpable. Seduction. Love. Romance.

But the dynamic would soon shift, unleashing a web of manipulation, jealousy, and betrayal. A rollercoaster of  emotional upheaval that would seriously test the practicality of throupleism and Jeff's 22-year bond with David. As Jeff navigates his way through the intricate parameters of polyamory, he discovers the importance of listening to the body's "inner whisper" and uncovers an assortment of tools that lead him on the ultimate path to deliverance.

Raw and honest! Same sex relationships pose a different set of issues that many struggle to discuss with friends and family. Deconstructing Us is a real story that allows us to get an inside glimpse of allowing another person into your relationship; Deconstructing Us: My Trouble with a Throupleand the excitement and pain it can bring. So many times I paused and reflected on my own relationship and how the author's experience hit close to home. GREAT BOOK!

While I'm not part of the gay community, I did read this book which enlightened me on many aspects of living a gay life. Wht I came to understand more than anything, was that, these are real people, they have feelings, they hurt just like anyone else, they fall in love, they have breakups. I hurt deeply for Jeff and I am glad I did read this book & get a first hand look at a man who was in love, was pushed out of a 22 yr relationship, was broken hearted, shed many tears & spent quite a bit of time mourning his time spent with someone who he thought was his forever. Real men wear pink, real men hurt, real men cry. This was definitely a good read....

I found this book to be very relatable and gripping right from the start. I read this book in just two days and found myself immediately drawn into the author’s experience of handling the many layers of an open relationship. Both heart-wrenching and humorous. Leaves you with a lot to ponder about how sometimes we lose ourselves in love. I highly recommend it!

Straightforward and candid, this book offers an insight into the complexities and fragility of gay relationships, especially long term gay relationships. It will make one question all they knew and accepted as grounded in their life. It’s a great read!!

Jeff is an amazing storyteller! A very easy read that tackles a lot of difficult subjects with care, honestly, and a lot of humor. It challenged the way I see my own relationship and made me question a lot of things I had always been so sure about. Keep an open mind and enjoy the ride.
