The young life of a boy named Genesis Taylor is changed forever when he shot and killed his father in an attempt to save his pregnant mother's life. While serving time in a juvenile detention center for what was really self defense, his life is shattered once again when his seemingly ungrateful mother turns around and abandons him for what she thinks is a better life, severing all ties. Released at the age of eighteen Genesis is criminal minded and has plans to make large amounts of cash by selling drugs. Finally reaching some sort of success Genesis' operation is shut down by a mob of thieves. Intent on getting back the product and cash that was taken from him Genesis accidentally hits the drug lottery. He instantly skyrockets to the top of the drug game and before he knows it, he is out of product and meeting up with a new drug connect which surprisingly happens to be sexy twin sisters, CoCo and Chanel. Visiting the twins on business, Genesis runs into a beautiful woman named Talisa twice in two days. Not believing in coincidences he decides to make her his own. This is where the fun, and the real problems begin.

CoCo and Chanel are in a league of their own, thanks to their deceased father's clout. CoCo runs the show like a pro, and Chanel does the same with the heavy artillery. Besides looking exactly the same and dressing similarly, I'd say the twins are not much alike. CoCo is by far more talkative and seems more liked by the public, whereas Chanel is quiet and mysterious, but not in a good way. The twins are good friends with a influential man named Arnez, who just happens to be dating Genesis' love interest, Talisa. CoCo warns Genesis that Arnez is a man not to be messed with. Not only to protect her business investments with him but also because she eventually has a thing for him.

This fast paced novel seemed predictable at first, but as I kept reading it became apparent that predictable was furthest from the truth. With every twist and secret unfolded, readers are sure to fall in love with humble and business savvy Genesis, be curious about CoCo and Chanel, and want Talisa to finally leave controlling abusive Arnez.

I'm able to get past the poor editing in King's books because she always brings the drama so damn well. She's great at structuring her characters in ways other authors fall short in - esp. in this genre where almost of the men and women are the same exact carbon copies.
A pet peeve that's been going on for awhile that I think I haven't mentioned: the designer names. I'd bet a large sum of cold hard cash that King actually does research to look up names no one else has heard of. This isn't the only book I've seen it in but she's a little over the top with it. I'd be willing to bet a few of the names Jay-Z and Jennifer Lopez probably haven't even heard of. It's almost like she's trying to throw it in the readers face - "Hey! Look what I know about and you don't!" Eh, kind of makes you feel pity for her because it's so painfully obvious.
But, the book - amazing. In the urban fiction genre King has surpassed all others, male or female almost, if you ask me. She passed Miasha and Turner and Woods a long time ago. She's left most of the men in the dust. If she could get a grip on the horrible editing I think it'd go a long way. I think she'd even have a good chance of breaking genres and going bigger. It'll never, ever happen if she hands someone a hard copy with the punctuation, spelling, grammatical, etc. mistakes like Stackin Paper or any of her others have.
I forgot - I love how she brought T-Roc and Tyler in from Hooker to Housewife! If one hasn't read the book you won't miss any hidden connections - just simply the characters reappearance which I enjoyed.

Interesting

Stackin’ Paper (Genesis and Genevieve Series Book 1) by Joy King is a interesting and amazing read. Joy King does a good job. It’s well written and it’s a page turner. It’s not my first time to read this book.

I wish I could read more about Genevieve from this book. Genesis is a good man but his mental is a something else. I blame his mom because she wasn’t there for him when he needs his mom. Denise is a messy and dead wrong. I felt bad what’s happening to Deuce, Talisha, and Antwan.

I’ll definitely reread part 2 of Stackin’ Paper and continue support for this author.

Good Read:

It’s okay

It’s not the best book I’ve read but it’s good enough for me to read part two. This may be better.

If It Don't Make Money, It Don't Make Sense

Genesis is a moderately successful hustler on the come-up. What could have been a huge setback quickly skyrockets him into the big leagues. He's stackin' paper like never before. He's got his mind on his money and his money on his mind until...he sees HER!

Talisa is a bad mutha....shut yo' mouth! Sexy, beautiful and intelligent, she's in a class by herself.

The chemistry is evident. But with Talisa comes baggage - deadly baggage. Undeterred, is Genesis ready for the consequences of his actions?

Joy King mixes a little street, love, jealousy and hate to create an entertaining novel. The plots and subplots are strong, slightly predictable but still very much enjoyable. I also enjoyed Joy's venturing out and speaking from the male perspective. I recommend STACKIN' PAPER and look forward to part II.

Simply Dope!

Awwwwwww Man, this was dope! Genesis is proving to be THE MAN! I could not figure out Genesis' mother; when you become a Mother, then you're a Mother for life and no man should ever interfere with that! She abandoned him and didn't so much as leave a telephone number that she could have be reached ... just up and move to a whole different state. I have no love for Denise 's ass; she is as foul as they come ... her and her so called friends. How can the all mighty dollar and Arnez get Chanel to go against her twin??? Agnes planted seeds of discord in the twin's deal ... I cannot wait to dive into Book 2!
Just off of the strength of Book One, this should be a 5-Star series!

a good clean read, it will keep your attention

This was really good smooth reading, not exactly what I’m use to, I’m your hardcore urban contemporary fan loving lot of dark, violent drama. My only confusion is how Talisa get pregnant so soon for Genesis when she been on the pills while with Arnez. I mean she haven’t been with Genesis that long to get pregnant especially being on the pills. This just caught my attention. It could be Arnez baby as well. I know it’s just a story but it need to be consistent, I know you probably trying to make a path for Genesis and Talisa HEA but don’t make it too predictable. But, anyway, great storyline author, I’m really enjoying it.

Can't wait to read part 2

This book definitely took me for a ride and I'm still trying to get a hold of myself. I really loved Genesis and felt like he deserved the world after what he's been through. I'm absolutely heartbroken about the ending. Definitely worth it.

Page turner

Good read. My only complaint is that someone should proof read. A lot of errors that could be a simple fix.

Great read!

Genesis is the truth. This story had me in a chokehold. Every character was developed perfectly. The trusted ones are sometimes the worse enemies.

Genesis grew up watching his father abuse him and his mom until one day Genesis put a end to that leading him to juvenile until he turn 18. He gets out and his mind is all on money he hit the jackpot when he goes to rob these dudes that robs him.

Genesis was sick and tried of his dad beatting on him and his mom. So the day he got tried was when his dad was beatting on his mom so bad that his father for got that she was caring is unborn child. Genesis had the heart to stand up to his dad and grab the cun off the table and shot his dad. 2 days later he was getting ship to juvie tell he turn 18.

genesis seen this drop dead fine woman name talisa washington, at the airport on his way to ATL him and his best friend deuce. He was meeting his connect, after the meeting was done his connect coco ask them do they want to go to a birthday party with them, they agree. Thats when he see her again sitting at the bar so he got the balls to go introduce his self to her.

Coco introduce genesis to this known drug dealer name Arnez douglas and he introduce his woman talisa to everybody

he finally got what his wanted when talisa called him. She told him about arnez treatin her like a punchin bag thats when they when to phily.

genesis had a crazy fling name denise she got mad cause her so called friend. Tonya replayed the conversation she over heard deuce talking about with genesis so she made it her business to go to her house and threw salt in the game and told her ever thing.

Coco called genesis over to talk to him about some stuff thats going on. Coco told him about her bodyguard got kill for save her at the club AND THE BULLET WAS FOR HER and she think its a inside job. When he left she was thinking about him how she want him to hold her.

Genesis grew up watching his father beat his mother until she literally turned black and blue. The beatings went on for so long until one day Genesis stood up to his abusive father resulting in him killing his father.Genesis was sent to juvenile for what was suppose to be two years but turned into seven long years. While in prison his mother left to start a better life for him and his sister so she said, but he never heard from her again. When Genesis is released he tries to go down the right path, but certain situations didn't allow that to happen. Stackin Papers tells the story of Genesis trying to make a good life for himself while finding love along the way. There are so many great things to say about Stackin Papers that I don't know where to start. From the beginning to end I could not put this book down, I read it in less then two days. I love when I can pick up a book and be able to visualize the story while I'm reading along. I didn't find one grammer error in the entire book, that's a big plus for me. Stackin Papers is a very good read;Ms. King did her thing once again.

Joy did it again.

Genesis grew up watching his father abuse him and his mom until one day Genesis put a end to that leading him to juvenile until he turn 18. He gets out and his mind is all on money he hit the jackpot when he goes to rob these dudes that robs him.

He starts stacking paper and wanted to keep stacking paper so he got a connection leading him to Coco and her twin Chanel. Coco is the business person out of them both. While Genesis taking care of business he runs into eye candy by the name of Talisa that he finds out that she has a man name Arnez that Coco knows and warns Genesis.

Genesis right hand man is Deuce he is a trip he had me laughing a lot I liked his charater.

Genesis started dating Denise that he then dump for Talisa. Arnez want his woman back no matter what.
Genesis find out from Coco that Genesis has a snitch and Genesis goes on the run leaving Talisa alone.

Now starting on part 2

I'm ready to read part 2. It was a good book. The only thing I didn't like was how Genesis played Denise but when you think about it she really played herself. I keep trying to these women you need to know your place when dealing with men. Denise didn't know her place in their relationship it was just a sex thing. And she really look stupid went she went to that man house with a knife. And Chanel OMG I even belive she did her own sister like that. Arnez must get his with his crazy @$$! Talisa tsk, tsk, tsk I hope that Genesis baby. For anyone who haven't read this book yet it's better to read "Trife Life 2 Lavish" first because its a 3 parts series. Then read this book then part 2. Joy/Deja King is my girl!

I really enjoyed this book. I like any and everything Deja King write. I read the first three bitch series and then the trife life to lavish part one. Then I realized you need to read bitch part one through five then the trife life to lavish part one and two, then bitch six. So i went backwards a little And still got in tune with the book. Waiting on part two of stackin paper. these books are great especially when you are familar with all the characters. Deja somehow syncs all of her books together and I must say they are all great!!!

I don't typically like Deja Joy King's books and bought this one on accident. I really liked this book. It was a page-turner filled with drama and suspense. The only thing I didn't like were the errors. She used "then" instead of "than," grammatical errors etc. In the beginning, it was quite frequent. Overall, I would definitely suggest this book to others.
