Too Many Ways To Die

Rate this book
A homecoming should be a happy event.

Not an opportunity for betrayal.

For Inspector Thomas Sullivan, a man who trusts few people, returning home only to find those he calls friends have kept dark secrets from him, accused him of multiple murders, and are plotting against him is an act of betrayal.

Worst of all, one of those people is his partner and girlfriend, Sarah.

Sully's universe has been turned upside down in this tale of betrayal, murder, and political intrigue in Capital City on the frozen world of Beta Prime. On the run, alone, and with a price on his head, can Sully survive long enough to clear his name?

Science fiction and classic crime novels have long been favorites of author K.C. Sivils. A fan of past noir masters such as Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler, Sivils also enjoys the current generation of storytellers like Matt Abraham, Renee Pawlish and Alex P. Berg.

The combination of film noir and science fiction in director Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s sci-fi classic Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep into the masterful Harrison Ford vehicle Blade Runner encouraged him to consume as much of both genre’s as possible.

When not working at his real job, Sivils enjoys his family, his dogs, writing and rocking out to classic rock bands like the Rolling Stones, New Wave rockers The Cars, and the Godfathers of Punk, the Ramones.

DNF.

All the previously sympathetic characters became unlikable cardboard cutouts, the plot was boring (with murders just to show off blood and gory descriptions), and the agenda went misogynist and MAGA.

I skipped ahead to read the end, and nope, still didn't care.

This will be my last book by Sivils.

Sully at his best

Everything and everyone is against him. Who can he trust. Shocking but powerful story. Had to read it in a day, that good.

I really enjoyed this book. It appears to be the last in this series. I was really surprised at who the bad guys were, and the were only revealed in the past 15 pages. The ending was good too.

Could not put it down

I love the way the story flows with the familiarity of the people I know and the planet of ice.
