Another great addition!!!

Also love getting a new installment of the Cassidy Julia world. This one was great but really I only have one question...what the $#&% is Julia's age!?!?!?

Stolen Hearts is book six in the Don’t Call Me a Hero series. I read this as a standalone.

Detective Cassidy Miller is offered a thirty year old cold case by a True Crime podcaster. An indigenous woman went missing after leaving work. She was never found. Meanwhile, Julia is starting work at a new law office while dealing with family issues.

I am not sure if reading this novel as a standalone altered my view of the book but I am definitely in the contrary camp in reviewer land.

Julia appears to be in a power position over Cassidy. Not certain if this is because of the age difference or educational differences. I was not enamoured by this especially when Julia disrespected and disregarded Cassidy’s use of the agreed upon ’safe’ word. This is a trust broken by Julia.

Cassidy’ character is inconsistent in her response to situations. She is at times reacting with her life experiences taken into account and other times being childish and not in an endearing manner.

The murder mystery is lightweight with the bulk of the story being about the relationship and some story filler about Cassidy’s time in Afghanistan. I have read other works by this author and enjoyed them. Unfortunately this is a miss from me.

Eliza Lentzski is one of those authors whose books are an auto read for me and the Don't Call Me Hero series is easily one of my favorites. Book 6 finds Cassidy working the disappearance of a young indigenous women in 1984 and Julia starting a new job with a prestigious law firm.
I love a good cold case, but what makes this series so good is the chemistry and deep love that Cassidy and Julia share. They don't view each other's vulnerabilities as weakness, they support each other in every aspect. And this might just be the hottest book in the series!
I can't possibly recommend this book enough and would be perfectly fine if Eliza never ends this series.

I so enjoy the characters in this series of books. I’ve been hooked since DON’T CALL ME HERO and will read each one Eliza Lentzski writes. (In fact, any books Eliza Lentzski writes). The characters are so well drawn I feel I know Cassidy and Julia. Ah, Julia. Be still my beating heart. 😀. Seriously I love the way their relationship has developed as each book follows on. This editing continues in the line of the previous books, it makes it hard for me to read.
I’m not a native English speaker and when I can spot mistakes… I’m sorry but no.

One major pet peeve capitalising coming out in all its forms. Why on earth would you write that? A line like this: Would she still freely give those hugs out after I Came Out?
How can you read this and still take it seriously?

Anyway, as for the story, it’s flat. One old case brought to the attention of Cassidy by some podcaster. How this case gets solved is kind of lame and all together just plain boring. It’s all relatively flat and not entertaining. We still don’t know Julia’s age. We don’t really get more of an insight into their relationship. We have flashbacks to Afghanistan and I have no idea which purpose they serve other than page filler…

I absolutely loved earlier instalments of this series but I guess it’s all downhill from book 3 onwards. It’s a shame.

This is just my opinion and I advise everyone to definitely seek out other reviews.

The lack of sleep to read this book before work was worth it. A few of Julia lines will be with me all day. And I’m officially a Nancy fan. No spoilers, but fair warning, you wont be able to put this one down. Looking forward to savoring this master piece for a long time.

I love Eliza Lentzski’s writing and DCMH is without a doubt my favorite series. I so wish I had enjoyed Stolen Hearts as much as I have enjoyed all the previous books in this series (especially Grave Mistake ❤️), but I was left feeling a little let down. It’s probably totally on me and what I find fun to read. There were a couple of scenes (like Cassidy’s birthday party) that I skipped, because the imagery was simply too intense for me. I was also a bit sad about the choice of words to describe a group of people (Julia’s new coworkers). It just didn’t sit well with me. I adored the ending, though. It was perfection! And the ice skating scene was absolutely heartwarming ❤️🥺.

I enjoyed the continuing relationship between Julia and Cassidy but I was disappointed by the case. I expected a more suspenseful and interesting case and investigation based on the premise. I was also disappointed by how the case was resolved, it felt lacklustre and anticlimactic.

I’m a big fan of this series but this last installment fell flat for me. Failed expectations and all that. This book felt more like a series of disjointed “bonus content” then a cohesive novel. All that said, the final epilogue did put a huge smile on my face, so for that at least it warrants 2 stars, it was ok.

Another instalment in the Don’t call me Hero book series. One that was just as enjoyable and interesting as the previous 5.

Cassidy and Julia are characters that you can’t really get enough of. Their banter and their whole relationship is always worth the read and never has a dull moment which is all thanks to the author Eliza Lentzski. There is a very particular and unique way in which the author writes these characters and stories which is not only fun to read but also very entertaining and new each time.

There is enough of a separation between the case and the lead couple’s story that makes it still interesting and so there is no more of this than there is of that. It makes for me wanting to read all of it as quickly as I can. I liked the case the cold case team solved this time. It was realistic and Eliza Lentzski clearly did her research to even make us educated and aware.

I look forward to reading book 7 and however many books the author publishes in this book series because I will always be ready to read more about Cassidy and Julia’s journey together.

Slow burn read.

When I noticed book 6 in this series was released, I actually couldn't really remember them. So I looked back and downloaded the first one, then of course I read them all again.
It's an interesting series with Cassidy the marine turned cop and Julia the brilliant aloof lawyer. Both of them have great chemistry and banter. Interesting cases throughout so never a dull moment. It was good to read them all together and realise everything takes place over less than a year, but must have taken a few yrs to write.
Threaded throughout is the back story of time in the marines and how she rescued her friend and why she has ptsd. All very interesting.
The relationship scenes are super hot 🔥 but lovely to see both of them embracing love, breaking down walls. I can see that there's plenty more threads to be explored in this series, bring it on.

Highly Recommend this Series

Wow, if I could give this book 10 stars I certainly would. Stolen Hearts, the sixth book in the Don’t Call Me Hero series, continued to expand the depth of the relationship that has developed between Julia and Cassidy. The sense that I got from Book six is that they’ll always be there to support each other and bring out the best in the other person. Lentzski also delivers some highly creative and intense sex scenes as well as some tender love scenes between Julia and Cassidy. Finally, both Julia’s law career and Cassidy’s cold case career continued to develop in this story. Do yourself a favor and read this book/series. I can’t wait for Book seven.

I love when books teach you something new and with this installment to the series I learned more about native Americans through Cassidy's cold case. I enjoyed following along with the detectives and the amount of time for the case seemed just right with everything else happening.

Our MCs have a good amount of romance and it was nice to see more dates and communication. I also enjoyed the spicy moments but I admit to getting a little worry in one of the scenes.

Stolen hearts is a great addition to Cassidy and Julia's story and the epilogue made me excited for more.

I just loved this couple. Julia and Cassidy are growing into their relationship and the new changes in their lives. Cassidy solves another Cold Case and Julia is switching jobs, again. Decisions need to be made and living together is bringing up other feelings. But we know another book is coming. Marriage, babies all things possible in the future and one we need to be part of. Eliza Lentzski - Can not wait!!!

I love Cassidy and Julia and I’m glad to see their story keeps evolving. I feel like Julia has had the most growth and at times I miss not having her PoV. Maybe the next installment could be split between them?

My only note is I wish Cassidy’s cases were a bit more important to the overall story. Since we do spend so much time with the investigation, it’s a bit of a let down when the conclusion comes.

All in all another good entry to the series.

I love seeing Julia and Cassidy’s growth both as individuals and in their relationship, as well as Cassidy’s cold case jobs and her colleagues. These two women are totally messed up and completely perfect. Loved all the fumbling love affair and while the sex was good it was not the draw for me to keep reading all these novels. I enjoyed the relationship and all that entailed including coming out to the folks. This author covered some really good topics. PTSD, dementia, how to get past the doubts, and how to fall in love despite loves wicked sense of humor. Thank you Eliza L.

You feel a connection and intimacy with the characters that you don’t get from reading a one or two-part story.
