As far as an Anna Freud biography is concerned, this is it. That's all I can really say about this volume. In fact, it may be "it" to far too great an extent. 450 pages take their toll on the reader if he/she is not prepared for the absolute barrage of names, dates, and conferences.
Extensively researched and well written, the book is an excellent biography that reflects well on Anna Freud without stumbling into the arena of hagiography. As a note to those interested, it is a worthwhile read, but fair warning that its discussion of psychoanalysis is intense and not of a layman's understand; the book depends on a moderate to advanced level of understanding of Freudian theory and at least some familiarity with his contenders.
