Construction work isn't any sort of calling for Ethan Loeb. He gets the job done, cashes his check, and spends his free time volunteering at the retirement home his elderly mother lives in. He knows he comes across as big, gruff, and grumpy, but right now, he doesn't much care.
Until him.
...but keep your enemies in your bedroom.
Mark Weaver knows that the construction crew in charge of building a new set of luxury townhouses is more than a bit ticked off that a potential dinosaur find has derailed their tight schedule. They make it very clear that the scientists excavating the site aren't welcome. It doesn't much matter to Mark. Preserving the past trumps new construction any day.
But when Mark's car dies too far away from the work site for him to walk with his polio-damaged legs, can he accept help from a big, burly construction worker with a secret heart of gold?

Listened to this on Audible. The only good component was the narrator, I’d give Austin Jay 5 stars.
Every character is either a doormat or a complete jerk. There is so much illegal activity (kidnapping, fighting, all kinds of illegal work practices) that is never fully addressed. I don’t know how Shawn (the worst personality in a sea of horrible personalities) has managed to keep his job, he has to have numerous HR complaints filed against him. If I had any of these people in my life, I would be cutting them and their toxic crap out of my existence.
I don’t think any research was done in preparation for these books. For example, in the first book one of the main characters, Mark, had polio as a child. Mark is in his 20’s. There hasn’t been a case of polio in the US in over 30 years. That took me a 5 second Google to research.
I continued listening because I kept thinking that it couldn’t get any worse, but the author kept surprising me.
I was given a free audio verion by the author and the GRR arc team for review.
First I will say the narrator did a brilliant job. 5 stars. Nice voice, good pace, expresses all the emotions and differentiated the characters voices and they all were pleasant.
Book 1: DNF TOD 35% -Uneventful plot -Men acting like children -Sooo many things offended me and I don't get easily offended
Book 2: 4 stars
Book 4: DNF TOD ch 8 -Uneventful plot though I did notice the author finally used the correct profession. Paleontologist vs Archeologists which would have been easily prevented in the previous books with a 2 second Google search. -the first scene with Uriel and Sam made me already hate him and seeing how sweet Kenny was made me right away feel like he could do a lot better. -Men constantly fighting and acting like immature children - By this point I'm just wondering how omg these people are going to sit around and fight instead of looking for a new job and I'm not at all interested. -Offensive derogatory language about disabled. No excuse for that even if the said character is a dick.
