Thirty-year-old Texas Ranger, Wyatt Peterson, is appointed a United States Marshal by the United States Attorney General. He is to hire two deputies to work with him on special, dangerous assignments.
The first person he makes a deputy marshal is twenty-eight-year-old Jed Tucker who everyone calls Tuck. He’s an old friend of Wyatt’s. Tuck is half white and half Waco Indian. Tuck is having a difficult time trying to live like an Indian in the white man’s world. As a Deputy US Marshal, he changes his appearance and lifestyle.
Morgan Foster is twenty-four and single. She is the daughter of an Irish boxer. Her father taught her and her older brothers how to box. Being a female and younger than the brothers that she boxes with, her father gave her more training to help her against them.
After Morgan is seen beating a man in a bar fight, she is hired on as the third Deputy US Marshal. Wyatt and Tuck teach her everything about guns and she becomes exceptionally good with them. Before Morgan was hired, a devastating event happened on a mission that affects Wyatt causing him to mistreat Morgan.
Will Wyatt recover from that devastating event allowing him to treat Morgan fairly and let her into his heart?
I thoroughly loved this book! All the characters have distinct personalities. The banter between them is so real and fun! It's so refreshing to have strong women and strong men care for each other. Keep up the exciting, funny and thoughtful writing.
After reading other books by this author, including The Regulators series and The Crew, I appreciated the additional details and crossover of some characters. The book contains interesting information about the past, along with pictures to enhance the reader’s understanding of some places and events. The action includes camaraderie, heartache, corruption, outlaws, mystery, romance, and benefaction. It’s fun to read about women fighting for their place in society as they encounter men who doubt their abilities. Additionally, it’s heartwarming to read of people helping the less fortunate, while enjoying one another’s company as they right many wrongs.
Just enough action, Romance, and good overcoming evil. I also absolutely love The Regulators series. Please please continue the series! I don't usually write reviews I felt these books deserved it. I would love to see The Regulators realize for certain that it is Lord that is directing them.
This book has a decent flow, and it’s separated eel by the chapters.(each could be a stand alone short story) I enjoyed the characters roles, and I think they could mature nicely in future stories. For me to say I liked this book should be an encouragement. I’ve been an avid western reader for 50 years, and I’ve known all the Louis L’Amour stories by their covers since 1970. My dad was an old school cowboy, and he already knew all the good ones by heart before I came along. So I suggest you write another book. Maybe a series of short stories that will keep your readers (doesn’t that sound good? “Your Readers!) attention, and motivate them to continue to read. Thank you for the stories, and I wish you a good trip as you embark down the Western Trails.
Characters so real they felt like friends and family! Excellent book! Tremendous stories!
So thankful for this author who has written such a great story. Loved the characters. They feel so real! This man is so knowledgeable and he shares his knowledge with us! Thank you for the historical pictures. That added so much to my enjoyment of this well-written book! Please do a sequel!
You have the “Occidental “ in Wichita.....but no hotel in Buffalo,Wy....the Occidental has been in operation in Buffalo,Wy since the 1880’s.....gosh I’m nitpicking.......enjoyed the books characters.......by the way, Coffeyville, Ks has had railway service since 1871.......the year my GreatGrandfather moved to Liberty, Ks, 9 miles north of Coffeyville......
This was a very enjoyable Western. Great action scenes, and shoot ‘em ups. The characters interacted, and joked around with each other creating amazing friendships, and close relationships, making you feel as if you were part of their life. I loved the ending and wished the novel would continue. I highly recommend this Western.
This exciting tale of lawmen & women was almost impossible to put down. The action interspersed with romance set in the old west kept my attention from the first page. This author will be on my list of favorites from now on. I look forward to reading more of his work.
Have read all the Regualtors series and The Crew. Really enjoy the balance of history, shootout/troubles and friendship. Makes you realize how ruff it was back then. But makes you laugh at the charters and their pranks on each other.
like the characters and the story line whichs pulls you from one setting to another and ties together very well. Keep reading Packy's books, you will enjoy them all.
Love the characters . having Cory back is great. Love to see more of her. Trucker is not your typical Western writer. Great stories that keep you interested. Looking forward to the next one.
Another AMAZING STORY! By Packy Trucker This book has characters from the other books called the REGULATORS , I really love these stories and hope for sequels I just don’t want the stories to end.
Full of action, suspense, hilarity , and laughs! What more could you want in a book. The characters though some a bit out there, you can*t help but enjoy them. Seems like your right there with them in the wild west
You write like I was could. You !dad us on like no writer I have ever read. When I read one of your stories I feel like is in there with them. I know writing is hard I also try writing some poems.
Enjoyed this book. Love the encorperation of the older characters with the new ones. I would have liked it to go on instead of ending the way it did. I would have like to read more about the other relationship of the other two marshals.
It's not common to read about tough women in the west . As a woman this kept my interest through the whole book. Looking forward to more of your books.
