Only the dead have seen the end of war? Plato

As members of the Romanov family, Katerina and her brother have no choice but to flee from the Russian Revolution targeting them. While Saint Petersburg is ripped apart by the claws of war, their only hope of survival is to leave the country.

Thrust into the clutches of hardship and loss, Katerina thought things couldn’t get worse. How wrong she was. When her brother is murdered, she has no choice but to turn to prostitution to keep food on the table and a roof over her head.

Fortunately for her, an opportunity presents itself in the form of a handsome German officer with a compelling offer - the return to a life of security and comforts, in exchange for secrets. The idea of working as a spy for the German government is thrilling, yet the dangers are brutally real. As Americans join the war efforts, Katerina is faced with the choice of risking everything...knowing the cost could be her life.

Gripping suspense meets pulse-pounding espionage in Wicked Deceptions, the latest masterpiece written by best-selling author, Amy Cecil!

BONUS STORY - Deadly Turns , also by Amy Cecil

What's so scary about Bunny Man Bridge?
Only a hanging, several dozen homicides, and an ax murder - by someone in a bunny suit.... But that was over 40 years ago and has never been proven.

The Bunny Man Bridge is littered with urban legends, all of which happened on Halloween. This year, a new murder has taken place, and just like the legend tells, it just so happens to be Halloween.

Just outside a small town in Clifton, Virginia, lies a bridge, or an overpass as some refer to it. It is formally known as the Colchester Overpass, but to many urban legend hunters, it is known as the Bunny Man Bridge. Its outward appearance is really nothing special, just a one-lane concrete tunnel beneath a railroad track. But to many, it's the scariest landmark in the area.

From award-winning and best-selling author, Amy Cecil, comes a quick read murder mystery story that will have your senses tingling with suspense.

Biography
Amy Cecil is an award-winning Indie author of both historical and contemporary romance. Her penchant for Austen fan fiction, won her the title of Favorite Historical Romance Author (2016-2017) while her MC series has won several awards throughout the Indie community. Recently, she has expanded her repertoire to the thriller and erotic genres.

For as long as she can remember, Amy always had a book (or two) that she was reading for the love of getting lost within its pages. Amy has been heard to have said, “I’ve never given much thought to becoming a writer myself until I realized that if I hadn’t written my own version of Mr. Darcy, I might have run out of material to read.”

And thus, her first novel was born, A Royal Disposition. In the words of Miss Austen herself, “I wish as well as everybody else to be perfectly happy; but, like everybody else, it must be in my own way.” Ms. Cecil writes to do just that.

She lives in North Carolina with her husband, Kevin, and their four dogs. When she isn’t creating her next masterpiece, or traveling the country for book signings, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends, and of course her fur babies.

“Face life as you find it-defiantly and unafraid.” -Nietzsche

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Romanov family are royalty. Katerina has always been pampered and she has never wanted for anything until now. Katerina and her brother have no choice but to flee from the Russian Revolution that are targeting them. As St. Petersburg is being torn to pieces the only way they can have a chance at survival is to flee the country.

Now Katerina knows true hardship, and loss is a reality. Her brother has just been murdered in a horrible way and she is left with nothing, so she has no choice but to find work for herself which is no easy task. Katerina realizes there is something she can do and even though it's not something she ever would have considered doing in Russia, times have changed and there are not many jobs out there for her. She turns to prostitution so that she can keep a roof over her head and food on the table. Then like a miracle, an opportunity presents itself in the form of a handsome German officer with an offer that she can't refuse. She can return to a life of security and comforts all in exchange for secrets. The idea of working for the Germans is thrilling as well as a way to get revenge for the death of her family, but the dangers of the job are brutally real. Then as the Americans join in the war efforts, Katerina has to make a tough choice. But risking everything could come at a cost and that cost may be her life.

Wow I am more then impressed with this book. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd like it because it's not the kind of book that I usually read, but it literally blew my mind. The story is chalked full of love, lies, espionage, and brutality (which usually goes hand in hand with war). Once I started to read this I couldn't put it down. Katerina was brave, loyal, and a very strong woman to survive like she did. There were parts in this book that broke my heart and made me want to cry for Katerina. Then there were parts that left me feeling giddy. It was an emotional roller coaster of emotion that I truly enjoyed. Once again Ms. Cecil has shown us that she can write in any genre she wants. This is one of the best books I've read this year. Ms. Cecil you are truly amazing and definitely very talented.

I really loved this book... it had lots of twists, turns and surprises right from the beginning (which was so suspenseful and hopeful)...

it had dramatic and engaging storyline with a main character that keeps you reading and strong relationship building between the characters...

the historical backdrop lends itself to a really unique, realistic and original story that was sooo interesting. An unique way of writing that I haven't read before.

the attention to detail and descriptions of places and people meant you could picture the scenes as they happened and I really enjoyed it...

for those that are on the fence for historical romance novels.... you're my people...but this author has totally changed my mind due to its originality and twist on historical romance books... its definitely a book that any one can get into in a snap!

definitely worth the read!

It was a good historical romance set in WW1. Katerina is fleeing her old life and becomes a German spy in order to ruin Germany. We get to see her fall in love with one of her marks. I thought the book read more like a drama with a hint of romance. The plot carries the book and it was certainly interesting.

Being a member of the Romanov royalty during the revolution in Russia meant Katerina and her brother had no choice but to flee for their lives. Unfortunately, her brother didn't make it and was brutally killed. Now Katerina must find a way to earn a living in order to have a roof over her head and food to eat. She has no trained skills that are practical in the working world except … she had no alternative but the oldest profession in the world until she was made an offer to become a spy. This historical romance is filled with angst, drama, intrigue, suspense, lies, espionage, brutality, and love. One that broke my heart, brought me to tears, and then remade me as I couldn't put this down.

Katerina and her brother flee St. Petersburg during the revolution. Her brother is murdered and she does what she has to in order to survive. Her pampered life as a royal is gone, her brother is gone, her family is gone. Life is hard and she is given an offer she cannot refuse. Life is still a hard but in a different way. This book was full of intrigue and suspense. I thought the characters were portrayed and the story flowed well. This book kept me wanting to read more and find out what will happen. I thought it was well written and it was a fabulous. This is a must read.

This book is written during the era of World War I. Katie is Russian Royalty, but ends up being a German spy after her family were murdered.
This book captures the readers attention from the very first page. The history is accurate, the characters are well developed, and the story flows without incidence.
I must say, Katie breaks my heart with what she must do to survive. This book is food for thought. What would you do to survive during a war?
Ms. Cecil writes a compelling historical fiction that will leave the reader in awe!

Amazing story from riches to rags and survival of an orphaned and alone Russian Princess. Time was during World War I, Germany invading/destroying people/countries. To survive and take revenge, she had worked in a brothel then became a spy. Her life was altered when she met an American officer.

At first, it was too unbearable to read. Then there was hope. I love the story but am not sure if I would like to read another story such as this anytime soon. Just too unbearable.
