Claimed Darker: A Dark Mafia Romance Trilogy

Rate this book
No more limits. No more safe words. No more nice guy.

I’m done with her. I’m sticking with simpler women. Women who don’t overthink things, who don’t challenge my lack of morals, and who sure as hell don’t dare to pull a disappearing act on me.

But before I leave her to her fate, I’m going to make the most of what’s mine. I’m going to use her body till she can’t move a limb. I’m going to blow past her limits, even the hard ones, because limits - and safe words - are about respect and trust. And she broke both those when she skipped town with my son.

If you’re looking to go dark and steamy, you’ll want to grab Em Brown’s Claimed Darker, the sizzling and wicked hot conclusion to a dangerous love.

STORY:
So finally the story concludes. I admit that as much as I enjoyed it; I have one or two unanswered questions. However, glad to have it concluded.

The story still goes in and out of the past and present, with Bridget and Darren ultimately leading to the present. We see why Bridget was in hiding and why Darren was going crazy looking for her and what made him so angry.

CHEMISTRY:
Sexually, need I say more. The whole book is BDSM, However, in the beginning of their relationship, book one and two, was not heavily shown and still can be enjoyed by those not too into that scene. The only scenes that may be distributing are the present with Darren taking out his anger sexually on Bridget.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Not much to mention here as this is the conclusion of the 3 part story.

OVERALL, I enjoyed the journey as I don’t read through a trilogy. I noted in my first two reviews that the mafia aspect for me wasn’t as strong but the presence of it is still there as I conclude this is more an erotica mafia read for me.

✰✰TRIGGERS: treatment of Bridget sexually in the present by Darren with BDSM.

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Hot, hot, hot!

This was so hard to put down. It is almost encyclopedic about BDSM, as Darren catches up with Bridget. We learn what happened to Amy and why Bridget fled. Once again, much of the story is set in the past. Aside from some spelling mistakes, this is a tightly written and engrossing tale, and it is agony wondering whether there will be an HEA. I am glad I bought it.

In book 2 I complained about the hollow, empty feel of Darren and Bridget's relationship. There's a severe lack of romance, and very little to indicate why these two like each other outside of their sexual escapades.

Here in this book, that issue is rectified (which is why it gets an extra half a star), but it feels too little too late. They both start talking about feelings & developing an attachment, but it feels inauthentic because it kind of comes out of nowhere. There is no show of how they fall in love, they just do ...

As a result, I feel zero connection to neither Darren nor Bridget, and I feel zero connection betweem them . There is no warm fuzzy feeling of awwww due to their love story. I definitely remember getting the fuzzies from Cherise Sinclair's The Dom's Dungeon. That's because she did a master's job of portraying a purely sexual relationship that eventually morphed into a true love alliance. And even though it was one book, it wasn't one of those frustrating insta-love scenarios. But a genuine love connection that formed between two people thru discovering, witnessing and experiencing little things about each other, outside of sex, over time. I ended up truly loving that book, despite not being a huge fan of BDSM. I developed such a deep attachment to the characters. I rooted for them and really wanted them to have their happy ending.

With Darren and Bridget, I was totally unmoved and unconvinced, not only about why they're together, but that they are together at all.

They come from starkly different worlds and backgrounds. They appear to have totally incompatible political leanings that had already sparked tensions between them. The only thing they have in common is that they love to fuck each other. However, despite their sex being that one binding agent that holds them together, what makes these people good as a couple in spite of their enormous differences? The series gives no insight. Thus their falling in love feels more like fan service rather than a genuine love connection like in The Dom's Dungeon.

Moreover, I can never take seriously or understand men like Darren ...

I'm not into MLs who are cucks and simps. And I guess this is why I'm not hardcore into the BDSM sub-genre because those type of men seem to abound in the lifestyle. I do like hot, steamy sex, and some elements of BDSM play, but the more extreme stuff just weirds me out, and I'm not even talking about sharing alone. I will also go as far as to say that I find romance set in the BDSM lifestyle to be very unromantic and unrealistic (this series certainly did not challenge that perception). Thus when I read about a couple engaging in all kinds of weird sexual debauchery (esp with other people in front of each other) and then being all possessive and declaring how in love they are ... it feels inauthentic to me ... fake. As pure titillation erotica, great, it works ... but as romance, nah. Not for me anyway.

Now wait a minute ... I know you're thinking, didn't you just gush about The Dom's Dungeon and how much you loved the romance in it ... isn't THAT bdsm with all the same features you balk at in Claimed Darker? Well, yes ... and no. Here's the difference, ... while you know that the couple in The Dom's Dungeon may likely advance to more extreme play, including sharing, at some point in their relationship ... way, way down the line (it is their lifestyle after all) - the hero, in his honeymoon phase with the heroine, is not . The heroine is his and his alone; he wants to keep it that way and not in any rush to share her sexually with anyone else.

It's not like I'm ignorant to the fact that some men are really into the whole cuck fantasy, but do they really sit down and fantasize about it like THAT ??? I dunno, maybe they do, but Darren's musings felt more like something that was sprung from a woman's mind/fantasy ... and I sure as heck don't want to read about it. Give me those dominant alphas with the caveman tendencies. They're my kinda hero.

That's why the H in The Dom's Dungeon was a whole other beast compared to Darren. Now don't get me wrong, Darren - isolated from all my complaints about his book - was a decent hero (under the pen of a more skilled author, he would've been popping), but Alex was just so effortlessly dominant and alpha without having to exert said dominance. He was skilled at what he does and firmly grounded in his identity as a Dom in the truest sense of the word.

Thus, even when he had the heroine doing stuff that was slightly outside my comfort zone (ie. public humiliation), I wasn't as skeeved out as I could have, and thought I would've, been. Because he was so deliciously dominant & alpha ... and the other doms around could look, but not touch ... the situation didnt make him look like a cuck. He had full control and that deep connection he had with the heroine never felt diminished in any of their play scenes. I am not doing a good job of explaining this well, but all I know is that that book hit different. I was not supposed to like it as much as I did, but I did.

So coming back to Darren & Bridget, I didn't believe or enjoy their "love" story, no. I don't feel like they're really in love, only in lust. While Darren's persona seemed realistic to his lifestyle, Bridget's persona did not. Her actions & thought processes came across a lot older & worldier than the supposed naive, innocent 20 yr old she was described as. I can't see these two being together at the end of this series, much less for the long haul, just because the author gave them a HEA. What I see is a very nasty breakup in the not so distant future, an even nastier custody battle, with mud slinging ... and possibly even murder ... going in every which direction. Helluva thought to be sat with after reading a romance. The rushed ending and resolution of conflict didn't help matters at all either.

Finally, I can't end this review without mentioning all the spelling errors, typos, missing words and changing names in this series. I am usually not a stickler for these things, but when they're soooo glaring, it's hard to ignore. In the beginning of Book 1, I'm pretty darn sure their baby's name was Evan ... by the end of Book 3, his name had miraculously changed to Ethan. ::faceplam::

Let's just stay I will not be purchasing any more of Mz Em Brown's novels.

Sexual content/Safety: This book is pretty BDSM heavy, but all the action stayed between the two leads - no actual sharing, public humiliation or exhibitionism.

Darren is definitely a jerk. I don't understand how Bridget can just lay down and take all the crap he does/did to her. How do you trust someone after that? I rolled my eyes a LOT. The ending did not justify the buildup of 3 books. Some words I had to look up their meanings. If you want the smut go for it, but don't look for plot.

There are other standalone books out there for smut that are just as good (or better) than this, but without the attachment of 3 books.

Bridget was on her way back to California after spending time in Thailand with Darren to attend his cousin's wedding. It was her first time out of the United States and she had an awesome time despite the stitches in her lip.

Bridget hated that she was unable to reimburse Darren for the trip to Thailand. He paid for everything - the 1st class international flight, the enormous villa and gorgeous clothes. He said if she really wanted to pay him back she could spend one night with him at his club. The BDSM side.

They are on their way to a restaurant with Amy and JD to celebrate her grant approval when the two guys are shot in a driveby outside of Darren's club. Who wanted them dead and how were the girls missed.

Bridget can't believe how much she is enjoying the things that Darren does to her. She would have never believed she would be into BDSM. Darren and all he does to her is all she can think about. She can't see herself ever being without him.

Darren has to go to Hong Kong for business which works out because it's her week for finals. When she realizes that her notes are at Darren's she has someone let her into his apartment and ends up crashing there. When she gets home the next day she finds one of her roommates in serious condition and Amy dead from carbon dioxide poisoning.

She then finds out that it was JD. He put out a hit on both her and Amy. She had to leave town NOW especially since she also found out that Darren was part of the Triad.

Em Brown hit this Claimed series out of the ballpark. It kept my attention from page one of Claimed. The characters are all amazing in this series. They are all fully developed (some more than others) and the dual POV really helps add more depth to the storyline.

I love Bridget who is determined to follow the rules, but still wants to visit the dark side. She has no interest in Darren's money and doesn't understand why his sadistic tendencies turn her on so much.

Darren grew up in the Triad, but was determined to avoid that life for his mother. But, they keep trying and he starts to wonder if he can lead two lives to keep Bridget from knowing about that side of his business. I love Darren's struggles regarding his feelings for Bridget. He fights his attachment in his head, but he just can't stay away from her.

The storyline is action-packed and full of suspense. I can see this as a movie series. Em Brown brought the pages to life for me and I both loved the conclusion and hated for this book to end.

This book will push all your triggers, but the chemistry between Bridget and Darren is off the charts smoking hot!

I highly recommend this book and would suggest you read them in order to truly understand the story.

When I first started the series I don’t know what I thought it was gonna be, but it was kinda addicting to wanna know what happened with Bridge and Dar’s past. Very happy then fixed their shit, even though all of what they went through could’ve be been fixed and avoided with some trust and COMMUNICATION.

Things I weren’t too happy with:
- I know Amy had to die for the story to progress the way it did, but the fact that JD got be alive for 2 more years after he killed her really made me mad (Darren you should’ve figured this stuff out better).

- I swear the name of Bridget’s baby changed in this book. I’m not really a stickler for errors but maybe because I was reading it till 5am this morning, but the fact that I could’ve sworn the baby’s name wasn’t Ethan for the first 2 books kept coming up everytime I saw his name.

- I felt like for all the buildup we had, I would’ve felt more satisfied with the ending. We got a mini epilogue of them in Belize, but I wish there was something a bit more substantial. Not saying they had to skip to a wedding, but maybe to see more Darren and his son moments, or something to indicate that they would work as a family…..I would’ve even been content seeing a scene with Cheryl, Felipe, the bodyguard’s name (I can’t remember; way too early for this), Bridget, Darren, and their son together 🤷🏾‍♀️.

He was not a compensate Dom or man. He had no respect for her or her body. She came across as having morals (no drinking before 21), but allowed him to treat her like whore. She was a intelligent student but when it came to this aspect of her life, why didn't she research this life style? Why did she only investigate the thinks he told her to, which was he wanted to do? I never read a story of this life style where the Dom was this cruel. I don't know if the males in his family were taught this way, but I didn't consider him a Dom. He used his as a weapon instead of total pleasure. This is how I saw Darren. I do feel he would have killed her after he was done abusing her body for his sexual need (you must read the book to understand I felt this way.) He felt because she was responding to his treatments, she liked the treatment. The body has a mind of its own. I nerves react to touches. If the touch is in the area that gives pleasure, it will respond to pleasure, but that does not mean the person truly enjoy the pleasure (the mind). I would've liked a different ending. HEAs come in different forms.
I do recommend those who read the previous books to read this book to complete the series.

Will Bridget and Darren get their HEA finally

CLAIMED DARKER is the third book in the Claimed Trilogy and is the final book in the continuing story of Bridget Moore and Darren Lee. This trilogy was initially part of the His For A Week series, book 6-8, before the author split them off. This book continues with the past and present being told in the story and how they have ended up where they are now. Darren has found Bridget after she ran away two years ago and things are about to get a whole lot more complicated between them, as Bridget has a very big secret she is keeping.
I really loved this book in the story as it is something both expected and with surprises. The ending is a sweet and lovely HEA while there is a lot of heat and passion throughout the rest of the book.

I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

And I thought the second one was amazing this one is even better Em Brown just keeps coming up with more and more awesome things. I love this book so much it only took me 2 days to read it. I read the first 37 chapters in one night til about 3am. If you’re anything like me and obsessed with dark romance books and dom and sub relationships like I am this is your kind of book. Also it’s by Em Brown which makes it even better. I love how this book ends and I don’t feel bad for JD whatsoever :) I hope there is more to come like this book I could read these type of books forever lol this book in my opinion brings the series together nicely and for sure answers the questions you might have. They all kept me at the end of my seat dieting to know what happens next. I think this one did it the most though them all I couldn’t put the book down til I knew what happens nexts!

4.5 ⭐️ for the last book, solid 4⭐️ for the 3 books all together.

Gah! Ohmygod for a minute there I wasn’t sure how this would end. Everything had me on pins and needles!! I thoroughly enjoyed this series even though I was not expecting it to be this spicy and dark. I describe this series to a friend and said “think of is as Crazy Rich Asians but with the mafia and crazy amounts of BDSM” lol. Thanks goodness for the HEA 😩 I wanted Darren to know he truth so bad and JD thankfully got exactly what he deserved.

One thing I couldn’t get past was the use of “OMG” so many times. Just type out “oh my god”. Seemed like a stupid way to get lazy in the writing. And I’m the last booked the kids name changes from Evan to Ethan…. Why?

I have been waiting breathlessly for Em Brown’s CLAIMED DARKER, Darren and Bridget are back for round three of their twisted, energetic and erotic dance of love. On this go around, the action appears to be equally spread between the present and the actions and circumstances from the past. Darren again shows his multi faceted feelings as he tries to make sense of Bridget’s betrayal....Bridget is just hanging on for dear life, while keeping her precious secret secure. I knew the end was coming but Ms. Brown always does the unexpected. You will be well satisfied with her masterful conclusion.

The story held my interest mainly because I wanted him to see that his actions were based on so many terrible misunderstandings that he just never allowed her to give voice to why she did what she did and that lead them down a path which might have no return. It was a struggle to follow sometimes as the action went back to the past than the present and from one person’s perspective to another. The story was always fascinating, dark and suspenseful. The scene I anticipated was perfectly executed and everything I hoped it would be. The ending was even better.

many inconsistencies

As much as I’ve enjoyed these books, this last one had a few inconsistencies. Changing the child’s name from Evan to Ethan, Em seemed to have forgotten that Amy had quit her job before going to Phuket in the previous book and had her fired for missing to many shifts in this book. And the ending just seemed rushed to get to the magical HEA ending. Bridget is a better woman than me, coz Darren would have been left begging for forgiveness with half a sack missing! Feeling a bit let down with this book. 4 stars only because I enjoyed the others in the trilogy so there’s an ending but not a satisfying ending.

This was by far the best book in the series, although Bridget was just as complacent as she had been previously, she at last showed some backbone. Amy’s death was sad but an important catalyst for Darren and Bridget. JD was every bit as nasty as ever and I think jealous of Bridget and deserved his comeuppance. There is a lot, lot of sex in this book and most of it the BDSM variety but there is also an explanation for all that happened which makes sense of the previous two books in the series. The ending is short but oh so sweet and brings a happy closure to a sometimes difficult romance.

Ohmigod!!! What an excellent end to this series. Book three was the most intense. There were many emotional ups and downs. Bridget, Darren, JD and Amy were written so well the four of them worked very well together. This is very realistic especially to devoted friendship, concern, loyalty. An excellent book. I highly recommend this series.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed
Original
Page-turner
Realistic
Scary
Steamy
Tear-jerker
Tragic
Twisted
Unpredictable
Wonderful characters

Dark Mafia Romance #3 Installment.
3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Darren & Bridget I don't really know where to start, this book was the least enjoyable out of the trilogy. The plot development was tame, and I really disliked Darren for most of the story. He was dangerous, obsessive and in the PRESENT parts I didn't like him sexually torturing Bridget. BDSM was 🥵 it was nice to see the darker side of that world but again Bridget was so naive and as a beginner you wouldn't trust someone to experiment that much with your body. You'd run a mile.

Wow, what an ending you won’t see coming!
I couldn’t put the book down as I read the forefront of how Darren and Bridget became closer in the past and the event that sent Bridget running with her unknown secret from Darren. I felt for the turmoil within Bridget for hating yet wanting Darren and for Darren’s action at the end to end the threat to Bridget. This is a one sitting book as the suspense will draw you in with a desire to know how it all ends!

Wow! to the 3rd Power!

Every part of this story got better and better, I couldn't put it down! I am glad I purchase the kindle version of part 3...waiting on the Audible version would have been torture!
Part 3 answered my question about Bridgette 's race.
This was a great series...if you are into bdsm stories with a Black woman and a white, asian, italian, or Russian man, than EM Brown is the author for you! I give it 5 stars and 2 Thumbs up!

it all came together

Overall I enjoyed this story
I will say the plots were predictable
The spice was unique compared to other bdsm books I’ve read but at times it felt a bit much I kept finding myself wanting the plot to progress but instead reading ANOTHER spicy scene
I also felt there was always so much time between present and past throughout this trilogy that I often forgot what happened in the present

Totally loved this.

I've followed Bridge and Darren from the start and this was such a good ending but def not the way I was expecting. I loved how he was so caring as he pushed her limits and that he explained what everything was. Not all Doms are like that. All up a very satisfying read.

So erotically sexy, you don't want this story to end. Being able to live vicariously through an author's words, to feel as if you are a participant is rare and extraordinary. This series is so good I want the pages never to end. Bridget and Darren's story is explosive and mind-tingling passionate.

Darren doesn't know what he really wants from Bridget other than his child but he cannot keep his hands off her but he wants to punish her in the worst way and tries his best to do so but his cousin Chen has a better idea. Darren's POV past and present. Drama, suspense, BDSM, danger, love. I received an ARC via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

This was definitely my favorite book of the series. I had been dying to know what was going on in the present (as interesting as the past was). Very good ending to the series.
Now that I’ve finished all of the books, I just felt like it didn’t need to be three books. I liked them but my patience started to wear after awhile.

Darren and Bridget's journey comes to an end.

Darren, a triad member, meets Bridget at his club. He wears a drink because he made fun of her sweater thinking he's being pranked. He becomes enamored with her. But he's got secrets. Darren starts to groom her in BDSM. Something happens and she runs. I've skipped a lot but read the book to see for yourself.

I don’t understand how you can write a book and NOT proofread it for spelling/grammatical errors. That ruins a good book for me.

Also- keep the characters names consistent. Kid’s name is Evan in the first half, then he isn’t mentioned for a while, and suddenly he’s Ethan?

That being said, this book had more plot depth than the first 2. A better read than the others.
