I have read extensively about every single one of these killers in this book and I will admit that I was not expecting to learn anything new, but it didn't stop me from picking this book up.

Now, I really love reading about serial killers but this book? I hated.

Simple reason: I don't want to read about R J Parkers view of how stupid people are for not catching them (because it certainly came across that way) or about how sick these people are. I wanted a factual crime book and I was expecting a story told from a non-bias point of view but what I got was a book that was cold hard facts with no personality apart from the random authors notes which broke the flow of my reading and the name-calling ('scumbag').

I don't want to read about Parkers personal view of these serial killers, I wanted to read about them, and somehow he managed to make it a little boring.

Although essentially a great idea, it didn't work out, and I couldn't finish the last few pages.

Well... I officially know that I will never read another R.J. Parker novel. I found this book to be filled with his interpretations of events. I felt like this was a sarcastic student's essay about serial killers.

"Now, before I begin, let me just say that this murderous due was either composed of the two biggest exaggerators in history, or the worst serial killers the world has ever seen, with killings in the hundreds between them." Really, what was the point of this sentence? This book was filled with sarcastic comments that did not add anything to the novel.

"He moved to Colorado in 1977 and took Judy and her kids with her." Wait, what? This book had both grammatical errors and spelling errors. I will not read another book by R.J Parker.

Definitely needed more attention to detail

The author clearly owns his own publishing company. The grammar was horrific and everyone should have access to spellchecker. Yet, I read the whole thing because it was quick and interesting info.

Good read

This book is a short one but its very interesting. Its amazing how some of these killers got away with what they were doing for so long.

Not often I write out an actual review, but this was bad on a level that it needs a write up.

This read like someone took info straight from a wiki on serial killers and tossed in their own snide comments about the situations.

I will never read another book by this author.

Really did not like the commentary. I don’t want to hear your options on these cases just want the facts. The reason I read true crime is because of the facts. The crimes were even written kinda of boring.

It all begins with John Wayne Gacy, and unlike his Hollywood namesake who rode horses, the Killer Clown rode young men and then buried them under his house. He prayed with a priest before his execution and his last words were " kiss my ass."
The" GOAT" appears next and that would be Ted Bundy and no introduction is needed. His killing spree ended in Florida where he would be tried, convicted and executed after ten years of appeals.
The next fun-filled man is "Peewee" Gaskins, a five-foot-four lunatic who claimed to have killed 181 people. The figure could not be confirmed and he was dispatched of in the electric chair.
The "Green River Killer," Gary Ridgway frequented prostitutes while serving in Vietnam and after catching VD there, returned the favor to hookers in Washington State. He eluded the law for sixteen years and after a DNA match pled guilty to forty-eight murders and stated that he had lost count of the true total.
Jeffrey Dahmer also needs no introduction. The gay cannibal was finally captured after a cop discovered a human head in Jeff's fridge. He was offed in prison.
Dennis Rader named himself the "BTK Killer" and it stood for bind, torture, kill. He taunted the police for many years and his arrogance finally caught up with him in the form of a floppy disk. He is serving a life sentence.
The Son of Sam also taunted the law and sent letters to the NY reporter Jimmy Breslin. A parking ticket led to his arrest and David Berkowitz is now a born again Christian.
Tsutomu Miyazaki was new to me and the Tokyo man chopped up four little girls between the ages of four and seven. He was hanged. Sayonara.
Andrei Chikatilo was the most famous serial killer in Russia. The Ukrainian witnessed the horrors of the Germans as a child during WWII and he later went on a killing spree. Convicted of fifty-three murders, Andrei was put down with a single gunshot behind his right ear. Nastrova!
Ottis Toole and Henry Lee Lucas gained fame after confessing to five-hundred murders.
Law enforcement claims to have cleared more than one hundred cases and Toole confessed to the killing of Adam Walsh.
The husband and wife team of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka kidnapped, raped and killed several young women. Karla testified against her spouse in a plea deal which disgusted the public in Canada after videotapes of a willing Karla were played at trial.
Marybeth Tinning was not exactly the mother of the year as her youngens' would leave this planet on a regular basis. She eventually admitted smothering eight of her children and was residing at Bedford Women's Prison at the time of publication of the book.
Judy Buenoano finishes off this collection of mayhem. The Black Widow used arsenic to shorten the lives of four family members. Hers was ended in "Old Sparky. "
I was familiar with most of the cases and at only 148 pages, the book is a quick read.

Famous Serial Killers

There were fourteen serial killers with three killing pairs featured in this book. These murderers were quite vicious and depraved monsters. Most are well known. But a few weren't. Therefore it was interesting reading about them though I felt so bad for their victims. I'm very happy these killers Cases are Closed. Yet justice wasn't always served such as in the case of Karla Homolka (co-killer with her husband, Paul Bernardo). I don't even like to read about that case.

As long as you realize most of the cases presented have been described many other places, you will probably enjoy this book on serial killers cases that were actually solved. Since I don't like unsolved criminal cases, especially when there are multiple victims or even a little single innocent victim that was killed, I appreciate that these murderers were captured.

Interesting true facts that I didn't know about until now

The spelling could have been a little better. These true life stories are scary, haunting, and interesting facts that I didn't know about until now.

Too many gory details, but it’s expected since the book is about serial killers. I was shocked at how low a human being would go to get what they want, especially when their victims were only helpless children as young as two years old.

This book is like Cliff Notes for several serial killers. If you're trying to narrow down which SK you want you delve into their story, then this book is for you. It gives a birds eye view on each scenario.

It was good, but I knew about all of these cases already. Though there were not many, I was not a fan of his asides, either.

To short

This book was ok. I was hoping for a more in-depth look at some of the serial killers but I didn't get that. So all in all I had to just give this book 2 stars.

The book is a very badly written summary of newspaper articles. Apparently, the author conducted no independent research, nor did he explore the reasons behind the murders.

Won’t read another of this author’s books. I found the information about the cases good, but I didn’t like his “author’s notes” that he had throughout the book. I didn’t care for his opinion. Just wanted to know the story of the cases.

I found this book on the Kindle Store for free and as I love true crime type books I thought I would give it a read. First of all it is very well written with lots of details of the crimes, some details are ones that previously were unknown. This is definately not a book for young children as it does have alot of gruesome details of the injuries and the vicious crimes that the criminals had commited. This book features cases such as: Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, Jeffrey Dahmer and many more.

This book came across as a high school essay on different serial killers. I have read a lot of books on serial killers and this should not even be considered. There are horrible mistakes throughout the books as well as added author comments like "yuck" when referring to one serial killer's way of conceiving children. All in all, don't waste your time on this book--find one that is factual and well written.

Short summaries of famous serial killers like Gacy, Bundy and Lucas. Not too much detail, just enough to give you an overview of the killers, some of their victims and crimes, arrest and what happened to them. Not bad, and if you want to read detailed accounts, you can find books about whichever serial killer you want to read about.

The serial killers that are in this book were the ones that left pain and fear in their wake. This book gives you just enough information on each one without going overboard on each one of them. If you ever wondered just what sentence Daumer or Gacey or any of the other received this book will tell you. Very interesting read.
