The Smoky Vale Alliance #1

Bay: The Smoky Vale Alliance, Book 1

Rate this book
As the former mayor of Smoky Vale, I hinged my campaign on getting rid of all bikers. They are everything that's wrong with our town. Everywhere they go they breed crudeness, chaos, and carnage.

Then my son fell in love with not one, but two of them. Now I have no choice but to interact with the very people I tried to take down.

My disapproval of their lifestyle wavers when a spawn of Goliath backs me into a wall, kisses me senselessly, and makes it clear in the most vulgar way possible what he wants to do to me.

Bay is fierce, frank, and the only man who's ever made me burn.

He teaches me how to tap into base desires I didn't even know I had. And it intrigues me how a man so volatile and obscene can be equally protective and affectionate.

When my ex-wife continues to ruin my life from behind prison bars, it's Bay's ruthlessness I once despised that I must now lean on to keep me and the ones I love safe. But what my ex-wife gets me involved with goes higher up than I could have ever imagined. Are some things better left in the dark, or do we expose those at the top of these heinous acts, even if it means risking our lives?

Contains mature themes.

"I'm Yours?" I gasped. "Say it again." "I'm yours." "Yes. My property now, Gerald. All mine."

Another Gianni Holmes book :)

I haven't read the other series where the other characters in this book are introduced but it was easy to follow and read this as a standalone. Will I check out the other series and books? Maybe.

This book is about Gerald Wentworth, a 48-year-old former politician, and sexy biker Bay (26),(Bailey idk last name) who rolls with the Blood Hounds biker crew.

If you have read the previous books, what happened to Gerald's family is mentioned. Gerald's family falls apart when his crazy ex-wife (His wife in Fable's book) attempted to murder their son. Diane, the ex-wife is in prison. She tore their family apart and traumatized Fable in the process. I'll have to read his book to know the full story. Anyway, thanks to psycho Diane, Gerald is no longer a husband or a mayor. All the people from his previous posh/elite life have abandoned him. Some people still think he is somehow involved in what went down with everything that happened with his stepson and Diane's crimes. He is guilty unfortunately by association. It is therefore not surprising, that Gerald wants to start over and lead a low-key life, away from all that chaos.

One positive thing that did come out of all that mess was his relationship with his stepson Fable, who he considers his son. Fable is in a throuple, with two biker dudes that are from a biker gang/crew called the Grimm Reapers. The very same gang that Gerald was running a campaign against when he was mayor or running for mayor (to know more read Fable's book). Fable, wants his dad to have a social life again after everything that went down in the past. He invites Gerald to his man's bday party. The Blood Hounds are also there, they are allies of the Grimm Reapers.

Reluctant, Gerald agrees and attends the party that he considers not meant for "people" like him. The uptight preppy kind. lol. There, he meets Bay, the much younger man who is intrigued by him. Bay can tell that Gerald is a man who definitely does not frequent parties hosted by biker gangs. He is obviously out of place. Bay however doesn't care. Men or women interest him and anyone who captures his attention is someone worth pursuing. Bay bets with his buds that he can hook up with the straight-uptight former politician and against the advice of his friends he is surprisingly successful.

Although he is much younger, Bay's presence demands attention. He has a commanding air about him which Gerald clearly notices. Their first interaction is very interesting and somewhat funny. The way Bay manhandles Gerald or Ger as Bay calls him, makes you wish it was you that was being manhandled. Their chemistry is insanely magnetic from the first encounter. One hookup turns into two and so on.

I loved how Bay was such a dominant and caring lover. He was exactly who Ger needed after everything that happened with Diane. Bay is passionate, possessive, and at times obsessive but in a good way😉. The way Gianni portrayed the age gap and their relationship dynamic was well done. I enjoyed how Ger just surrendered to Bay and let him take care of him.

There is also some mystery/crime in the book that deals with sensitive/triggering topics of abuse, trafficking and baby farming. So, if that is something that you feel is triggering then proceed with caution or skip this book. I, however, loved the possessiveness and the age gap aspect of this book. It is an enjoyable book and if you have read books by GH then you will most likely enjoy this read. GH is either a hit or a miss. In this case, the book was a 4-star read, the positive reviews do live up to the hype (in my opinion at least).

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

"I was no longer the people's politician. Bay had staked his claim. I was an outlaw biker's property now. And I was okay with it"

Bay is the first book in the Smokey Vale Alliance series, a spin-off of the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale. While I was able to read this as a standalone, I would strongly encourage readers to read the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale, especially Fable's Foes and Crowe's Creed first. There are a lot of characters who show up who are from the other series and I think it would make the whole reading experience even better. That being said, I was still able to fully enjoy it without reading the other series first.

We have Gerald, who was once an upstanding member of his city, the Mayor, but due to his wife, he lost everything. His job, his campaign, his friends, everything. He's now trying to move on and wants to reconnect with his son, who is dating two motorcycle club members from the very club he vowed to take down as Mayor.

When Bay lays his eyes on a handsome older man who's dressed like he's attending church rather than a birthday party at their headquarters, he knows he has to have him. With a bet set up, he gets the kiss but when Gerald shows him that there's something more beneath his proper, neat and tidy appearance Bay becomes relentless in his pursuit.

Goodness, I loved loved loved Bay. I devoured this book in just a few hours. Literally everything about this story was check after check for me. The huge age gap - 26 and 48? Check. The younger one being aggressive and dominant? Check. First time bi-awakening? Check. Possessiveness? Check. Total opposites in every way imaginable? Check. Touch him and you'll die? Check.

This book was filthy, steamy and hot. I need a cool glass of water levels of hot. Gerald and Bay's connection was so intense and once Gerald gave in oh goodness. That morning after scene after their first time will be living in my head rent free. I loved how we got to see this wild and sexy side of Gerald that only Bay could bring out. The dirty talk and the way Bay made just Gerald feel good, desired, and loved...it was perfect.

“I’m going to make you my slut. I’ll take you wherever I want you, whenever I want you, and you won’t ever say no. You know why?”

“I’m yours?” I gasped. “Say it again.” “I’m yours.”

“Yes. My property now, Gerald. All mine.”

Gerald has totally been abandoned by everyone in his former life and as Mayor, people often got close to him due to personal interests but now not only does he have a true family who will do anything and everything for him and stick by him no matter he can also just let go. I love the found family and brotherhood aspect of the club and it was lovely to see Gerald experience it.

"But at the heart of their gang, family seemed important. Not just blood family but found family. Family they'd protect with their blood, sweat, and tears."

He can lean on Bay and let him take care of everything for once. He does not have to be the one who does everything anymore. I loved that aspect of their relationship. As much as Bay came off as horny, aggressive and domineering, he was also caring and so sweet on Gerald. That man needed someone like Bay in his life.

"I've seen the gentle, caring side of you, Bay, and I fell in love with that you. The man I saw last night? I've been dreading the day I'd meet him, not knowing what my reaction would be. But then I witnessed you punishing him because of what he did to me. How can I be mad that these hands are willing to fight for me?"

"What your hands have done and are willing to do no longer matters, Bay. I'll always want them on me."

The story is pretty gritty and gets violent and deals with the farming and trafficking of babies using women in prison. Please check TWs.

Overall I loved Bay and to be honest no surprise as I adore Gianni's stories. I will definitely check out the related books in this universe. I've always wanted to read them but now that I got a taste I will be diving right in. If you love Gianni's stories, Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale series, MC stories, opposites attract, and age gap, I recommend it.

Check out my review on Instagram.

I think I am leaning towards 4.5 for this. I could have done with a tad less of the ex-wife story line, but it still worked. I just would have preferred to focus on Ger and Bay and not the ex-B. That being said, I do understand that this is a spinoff of another series, so I'm giving it a break as I have not read that series. (Did you enjoy that walk through my brain? LOL.)

“Call me shortsighted, but I can’t help it. From the first night I kissed you, every time I look at you, I can’t help thinking that you were made to lie beneath me, moaning, writhing, begging.”

This book is an age gap romance between a younger biker and an older former mayor. When I tell you that this book is scorching hot, have no doubts. These two tear it up. SO HOT. And the dirty talk? Oh dear lord. Holy shit. TOP NOTCH.

“You’ll be my cum slut in my bed. Do you hear me, Ger?” I growled. “I’ll fucking come inside you until I’m dripping down your thighs.” “Oh god, yes.” “And then I’ll fuck you some more and give you another load."

I loved getting to know all of the other bikers/daddies and their boys, including Ger's son Fable. They had such a nice relationship and Fable's Daddies were so sweet to Gerald during this time of transition for him. Ger really came to see the bikers as family. They were there for him when no one else was. Gerald had a lot of growth in this book. He opened himself up to new experiences and decided to let actions speak louder than words. He realized that things are not black and white and from that he gained an entirely new family.

“What your hands have done and are willing to do no longer matters, Bay. I’ll always want them on me.”

Bay and Ger are so great together. I love them. They earned their HEA and not every relationship is going to be traditional and that is what makes life interesting. Looking forward to Gunner's book after we got a peek at him and Chief Witter together in this one.

“Ger, it’s true you’re my plaything, but that’s not all you are to me. I told you I loved you, and I mean it. You’re my best friend, my lover, and the one I want to spend the rest of my life with.”

*** I received an ARC of this from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion. ***

Bay is a fantastic age/gap opposites-attract romance between a biker enforcer and a recently divorced former mayor. This story has a great mystery, and fantastic romance that I never quite knew what to expect.

What I loved so much about this story is how strong a connection Bay and Gerald have. They are complete opposites in lifestyles and personalities, but their strong magnetic pull toward one another creates an intense dynamic that I could not get enough of. I loved Bay's instinctual possessiveness and Ger's submissiveness. They both bring out the best in one another and getting to see their relationship grow and develop was great to see.

Their story is complicated, intense, and full of sweet moments. I loved seeing their love story develop in such an unexpected natural way. Overall I loved this world with its fun, quirky characters that made a beautiful found family.

4/5 ⭐ What a great ❛alliance❜!

This is my ❛comeback review❜ and what a ❛comeback read❜ I chose! ❥

Bay by Gianni Holmes is my first intercourse into Gianni's series. This book is the first instalment in ❛The Smoky Vale Alliance❜ series, but there are links 🔗 to other series like ❛The Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale❜ in order to share characters between series. I did not read the previous series but that fact was not a problem in order to follow the plot of this one, by the way 🙈

Bay tells the love story between Gerald, the former mayor of Smoky Vale, and Bay, a younger biker who belongs to the Blood Hounds MC and his lifestyle is the opposite of Gerald's beliefs. As a mayor, Gerald tried to take down Bay's illegal motorcycle club, but after a shocking divorce from his crazy ex-wife―she tried to murder her own son in Fable's book 《 ❛The Smoky Vale Alliance❜ series》―which provoked her imprisonment, Gerald's mental health is not in his best point 💔 His previous life fell apart and he feels that his relationship with his stepson is damaged, but when Bay enters into his life showing his impressive nature, Gerald discovers another side of his own personality which was hidden apart ❥ The connection between them surges in a split second after an intense make out session 😏 and their relationship increases and gets stronger in order they collab trying to solve an illegal scheme which involves innocent babies 🧸 🍼

Positives:
✔️ Bay and Gerald's relationship ❥ I think that the chemistry is quite good, but the perfection made relationship is given to us by the author when they have zero communication problems because they always speak to each other and explain their problems as grown people ❥ Sometimes it is pretty satisfactory having no angst plots when we talk about relationships, because the angst is given by other topics here.

✔️ Bay is fierce and frank like Gianni Holmes says, but he is also the most huggable person ever 💖 He is the most understanding boyfriend and pretty thoughtful when we talk about respecting the boundaries which Gerald put into their physical relationship ❥ It's really cute how Bay has chaged his mindset about partnership and romantic relationships when it comes to GeraldConsent is and always will be the key!

❝Do I like that I'm the only man you've let touch you? Hell yeah, but there are more important reasons for me to love you [...] You're smart, kind and [you] think people are inherently good [...] You're everything I never knew I wanted in a man❞ ❥

✔️ Intriguing plot and tons of action scenes 🤯 I'm going to write a mild spoiler due to this author involves triggering issues like woman mistreating, not physical abuse but exploitation, in order to trade with their babies.

Negatives:
❌ My only complaint about this novel would be that Gerald's attitude doesn't fit a person about fifty years old 🧐 It's a mere opinion, but sometimes he behaves younger than his hottie boyfriend, haha 🤭

I consider that this is a good first instalement of this series and I'm pretty anxious about knowing more about several characters like Bloom and his doctor, Dr. Collier with whom shares an interesting dynamic which borders the stalking border, for God's shake! 🤡 I'm joking, but Bloom is a character who has a dark past which involves his family and I hope that the author will go deeper into his story ❥ By now, I'm rating this book with four solid stars because of having me sticked into my chair what earned me a soring ass 🍑

I can't even begin to express how much I loved this book and the start to this spin-off series! It gave me all the feels! I'm such a fan of bi-awakenings, and Gerald falling for Bay and vice-versa was everything! Gerald is lonely and depressed after his ex wife tried to kill their son and went to jail. Career ruined, all his so-called friends turn their back on him. When he stops by the clubhouse per his son Fable’s request for his boyfriends birthday party (VP if the Reapers), Bay sets his sites on him, and the pursuit begins. They have an undeniable connection, one Gerald doesn't understand but can't say no to even though he tries. Together, they're so freaking hot, especially once they both give into their feelings for one another! And the ending was so perfect! Expect hot sex, familiar faces (if you've read Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale), fun banter, and some danger. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next installment of the series!

Just reread via audio, and John Solo did a fantastic job, loved it so much!

Overall, I enjoyed this very much.

In this spin-off from the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale, we start off with Bay, a 26 year old biker, part of the Blood Hound MC, and Gerald, the 48 year old father of Fable, who was an MC from a book in the original series.

Gerald is pretty straight laced, has been his whole life, and was a politician until what his wife did to their son, Fable, tarnished his reputation. Doesn't matter that he had nothing to do with it and was cleared by the police, and he and Fable have a good relationship - the damage is already done.

Gerald even had to move houses because he was getting so much harassment in his old neighborhood.

But he's genuinely a good, sweet guy. Who also happened, during his political career and as mayor of Smoky Vale, to try and get rid of the MC clubs for good - which, he didn't, obviously.

Suffice to say he isn't exactly the most welcome when his son, Fable - now the boyfriend of two MC guys - invites him to an MC party, and Gerald himself doesn't feel the most comfortable there. Again, he's a very straight laced guy who blushes (very adorably) and is a little bit scandalized by the way his son and his friends talk (mostly about sex) and when one of them starts blowing his guy right there in front of everyone.

Gerald isn't used to that, so he tries to live, only to be accosted by Bay, who saw him and wanted him immediately.

He makes a bet that he can get Gerald to kiss him with his MC buddies, and he does succeed, but the encounter is more than either of them bargained for - and Gerald actually lies and says he didn't get the kiss, because it felt so intimate between them, something just theirs - and thus starts a whirlwind romance.

Bay is the dominant one in their relationship, and even though he's younger he never feels that way, at all. These two feel very equal. Gerald is mature in a lot of ways, in different ways than Bay is, but Bay has also seen a lot of horrible shit in his life, and done some horrible shit, and he's a big, 6'5" hulking man with tattoos who isn't to be trifled with.

And once these two start falling, of course he'll do anything for his man. Protective and possessive is the name of the game with these biker men, and I love it.

These two had some great chemistry, I enjoyed them a lot. Although they didn't 'wow' me to the point I felt this needed 5 stars. But still very good and very enjoyable as to earn 4 stars.

The subplot about there being a baby trafficking ring out of the women's prison was interesting enough - it is despicable but not out of the realm of possibility, as human depravity knows no bounds sometimes - and learn why Gerald's ex-wife raped (!) him before her sentencing, as it all tied into the plot of the story.

These two seamlessly moved from casual to more so fluidly that one minute Bay is scoffing at being in love with Gerard to being there pretty soon after, and it made sense, it felt earned. Once Bay set eyes on Gerald, that was all she wrote.

Gerald was a little more resistant at first, as he was so against MC gang's before and he's such a sweet, kind guy that the harsher, criminal elements of Bay's life was hard for him to wrap his head around, but he was just as enamored with Bay as Bay was with him, and soon he was able to get past his reservations about being with a man who happens to be a criminal. But who treats him like a king and will do anything and everything for him.

Gerald has Bay wrapped around his finger and Bay is happy to be there. He will protect his man at all costs. Also, no one better touch him if they know what's good for them ;)

I love that dynamic so much, so this had me smiling throughout.

Definitely worth a read. I can't wait to read Gunner and Witter's story next - hopefully it'll deliver on some good enemies-to-lovers goodness.

Here's hoping🤞

Gerald is 48 years old. He's the former mayor. A year and a half ago, his ex-wife got sent to prison for killing someone and hurting her 26 year old son and causing him to be raped. It was a big scandal and wrecked his career in reputation by association. His stepson is dating two bikers in a throuple. Gerald goes to a party at the motorcycle club and meets a biker named Bay, who is the same age as his stepson. Bay takes a look at him and is attracted. And chases him. Gerald has never been with a man before, Bay is his bi awakening. They quickly fall into a relationship.

This is a romantic suspense novel. Turns out the ex-wife in prison is involved in a baby farming / trafficking operation and Gerald might have a kid out there. The two biker clubs get involved in what Gerald's looking into, and the police are involved, and things get really messy and complicated. And dangerous.

This book was pretty well written. The relationship between the main characters was nice. The smut was gritty. The supporting characters were entertaining. I especially am intrigued by Bloom and Gunner and their respective love interests.

There was some things about the book that just kind of weren't to my taste. There's a 22-year age gap and I'm not a fan of huge age gaps like that. I wasn't really expecting the baby plot and that was a bit too much baby drama for my tastes. Also, not to yuck on anyone's yum, but I think there were too many references to the stepson's throuple relationship / sex life, I didn't get why there had to be so many references right in Gerald's face. Awkward!

Some notable moments:

"“I-I-I’m not into men.” Bay nailed me with an intense gray stare. “You kiss all men you’re not into like that? If he hadn’t cockblocked me, I’d be fucking you against the wall right now.”"

"Bay groaned. “Let’s go home. Then Gerald can explain to you how relationships work. Adult relationships.” “Eh, are you forgetting my experience might not be the best point of view from which to counsel anyone?” “You’re still better at it than the rest of us.” He shook his head at Bloom. “Can’t believe you tried to get the man into bed by making handicrafts.” Bloom looked crestfallen. “What’s wrong with handicrafts? Do you know how much time I spent making the cards and the paper flowers?”"

"“I like him. He should like me back. I’ve tried giving him lots of stuff.” “Like what?” “Yesterday, I sent him a lock of my hair.” He shoved aside his tresses to show me a shorter section. “The day before that, I sent him a picture of me naked.” I groaned. “You fucking didn’t.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Gerald is Fable's stepdad and the ex mayor of Smoke Vale. Bay is a much younger biker. Though they are total opposites they were perfect together. There is a lot going on here but nothing of the drama was due to them being a couple. Some would say this is a gritty story but it also made me laugh out load at times. I'm so ready to read Gunner's story now.

This is the first book I felt all year that remotely made me feel anything (aside from anything tal bauer related).

Like I actually felt my love of reading in this book. Felt the reason why I love romance, because all year, reading just became a habit I couldn't break but one I couldn't completely enjoy.

I've been enjoying a lot of Gianni's book since last year so I'm glad to see something added to my favorites lists this year, cus it's been blank so far.

I want to rate this book 5 stars, but I didn't because:
• the wife and the (you know) plot dragged on for way too long. I appreciated how the author didn't intersect it when our babes were falling in love because we got to be in that honeymoon stage but damn, I couldn't wait for this plot to end. And I didn't even like it lmao.

• I'm usually very interested in the gang/mob side of stories, so I was surprised how I didn't really care for the business side of this book. I largely feel that it's because I didn't read the original (prior series) and to be fair, I wanted to read the original series, but it had a lot of MMM in it and I wasn't interested lol. I did enjoy the MC vibes and the brotherhood was 🤌🏼

• The way Fabel was open about his relationship is nice and all, but TO HIS DAD?? ✊ TMI PLS.

But anyways,

I really loved how Gerald submitted for Bay-like, 😭🤧🤧 Bay's dirty talk really be making us all putty for him.

+ Bay is so protective and aggressive, and soft and sweet---GAHHHHHHH. I LOVE HIM.

This is my first book by Gianni Holmes and I’m already loving this series. This ends with an HEA.

Thank you @EvaReadsWithDog for buddy reading this series with me.

MM Romance
Age Gap
Ex-mayor
Pierced 🍆
Possessive
Found Family
Bi-awakening
Motorcycle Club
Opposite Attract
Strict Top/Bottom

I forgot how fast paced Motorcycle club books are. I love the suspense in them as much as the romance. These men are such filthy talkers and I’m living for it.

Bay and Gerald’s story kept me intrigued and coming back for more. I was constantly reaching for it, dying to know what would happen next.

Gerald is the ex-mayor and having a hard time after divorcing his wife. His wife is in prison for all the chaos and trouble, she caused. Poor Gerald was put through the ringer trying to navigate life after he learned who he really married. Bay is part of the MC club and the gambler, he never loses a bet.

I loved the way Bay wanted Gerald, unapologetically and without shame. Gerald was hesitant, didn’t understand his desires and pushed back. But it didn’t take him long to give into the pull between these two.

I would suggest starting with the Grimm Tales of Smoky Vale series before starting Bay. There are so many characters from those books included in this series, as this is a spin-off. I didn’t read them first and it took me a minute to figure out who was whom.

The beginning was rough, I won't lie. Some things bothered me. I really wanted to DNF at some point. But I needed to know the end of this book despite my reluctance. And I'm so glad I pushed myself!

Gerald and Bay's relationship is simply wholesome! I loved their dynamic: a younger and confident top with an older and insecure bottom? I'm sold! I can't stress this enough, but I loved how their feelings progress and how protective they were of each other, especially Bay.

And the smut? It was freaking hot!

The plot was nice too. However, I couldn't understand Gerald's motivation for helping his wife, before she went to prison(off page, fortunately). What she did what unforgivable and I'm happy she met a well deserved ending. I know Gerald was supposed to be selfless and naive, but come on! Anyway. I'm glad because at the end, they have a beautiful family.

I'll gladly read Gunner and Ben's book now. From what I heard, their book is really good.

Su avansu. Tikiu, kad ši knyga turi savo skaitytoją, bet tai ne aš.
Pirma, jaučiausi kaip patekusi į gerokai įsibėgėjusį vakarėlį, kuriame nieko nepažįstu - my bad, kad pradėjau skaityti spin-off'ą, neskaičiusi pagrindinės serijos. Veikėjų daug - dvi baikerių gaujos, taip ir nesugebėjau įsiminti pusės vardų, ar bent atskirti, kas yra kas.
Antra, neįtiko rašymo stilius - man pasirodė sukramtytas, primityvokas, veikėjai irgi kuriami labai paprastai, kirviškai, be niuansų, be gilesnio vidinio monologo.

This was such a joy to read. I really loved it.

As the title suggests, this is definitely Bay’s book. I cannot express how much I love Bay. He is the perfect character. He has no filter, dirty talker, horny, protective, short tempered, slutty and wonderful. Plus he is hot as hell.

I loved how the romance with Gerald started. Total opposites but poor Gerald was going to have to submit to this blunt as hell hottie, it was impossible to say no to him. It was fantastic to watch him cave and be the dirty slut Bay predicted. It was a definite cat and mouse chase in the beginning, it’s was what foreplay is all about.

Aside from the hot coupling and sexy times, which were fabulous and intense, you have a plot which explores a disturbing side of the dark underbelly of people in power, and ultimately its effect on Gerald. His life is in turmoil after all the secrets are exposed. A lot of twists and turns and we get to see the darker side to Bay when it comes to protecting his club and his man.

The heart of this story is the love that builds between these 2 unlikely guys who would do anything for each-other, and the found family of the MC club that brings everyone together, especially how they welcome Gerald.

Such a great read and highly recommend. Bay was certainly the standout, however, there is also Bloom…I need his story badly. He is crazy and that poor doctor 😂 I’m not sure I’d want to be on the receiving end of Bloom’s attention but I’m eager to watch.

Hmm.. I really wanted to like this. There were *some* sweet moments between the MMCs. Bay was great. I love bad boys who are caring, consent kings underneath. Gerald was as sexy as a bowl of plain oatmeal. I'm insulted that Gerald is younger than me, but he was written like a fainting lady in a Jane Austen novel!
I struggled to maintain interest in the story and may have skimmed a bit. I was so keen to get to book 3, Bloom because hot-damn, that boy on the front cover is a wet dream, but I'm not sure I can...

"I’ve been a politician, husband, and father. But I never counted on being a biker’s plaything—a biker who’s almost half my age."

This is the story with many...almost too many, different facets. We have an older man, Gerald, who is in his late 40's, who is the past mayor of the city, a man who has been deceived by his ex-wife, and a scandal he has been inadvertently dragged into, a stepson and a private life...and then we have Bay, who is an enforcer with The Blood Hounds...a local biker group, who is extremely determined and very clear about what he wants... and what he will do to get what he wants...namely, what he wants, and what he gets, is Gerald. Gerald's ex-wife is not by any stretch of the imagination, a good person. She soon winds up in prison...a prison being run by a warden that should be in prison himself.

There is an intriguing part of the story concerning missing babies that have more than likely been sold by the prison warden. The story is filled with high-level corruption that will keep you reading simply because you NEED to find out what happens! The bikers who usually are portrayed as the "bad guys" were actually so much better than the other characters that were supposed to the "good guys".

I can't say I really liked the story, but I can't say that I disliked it either. I have read and liked others by this author so I probably will give the second book a try.

Reviewed in the United States. I loved Bay. Gianni Holmes wrote another fantastic biker book. This is a spin off of The Smoky Vale Series. I loved the characters of Gerald and Bay. Gerald was still trying to get his life back together after the downfall of what his ex wife tried to do to his step son and also him. Gerald and the rest of the bikers were looking for child traffickers when Gerald found out his ex wife had another child and it was his. Gerald still didn't trust the bikers but his step son asked to come to the club house. Bay bet his brothers that he would get a kiss from Gerald by the end of the night. Gerald wanted to leave but Bay talked him out of it and they moved further away from the club house. They were about to make out when Zak caught them and told Bay to leave Gerald alone.

Started off great, and then got bad FAST. Bay was awesome; Gerald was a complete waste of space. I'm trying to remember him from Fable's book; I don't remember him being this vapid, indecisive and weak. He couldn't possibly have been mayor of anything. He was like a repressed, permanently flustered Victorian woman. He couldn't make a decision about anything! It took me forever to read this book. I really dislike murder mysteries in romance novels and this had a particular Whodunit, Scooby Doo feel to it. I.didn't.care. I just kept going because I had already invested so much time and didn't want to start bailing on books this early in the year. The corniness just kept getting worse and then it got flat out bad.

DNF’d at 67%

This ended up being a bit too ridiculous for my liking? As you can see, I really gave it a chance lol but by this point, every cringe interaction between Gerald’s damsel in distress attitude and Bay’s h*rndog brain was grating on my nerves. Then, I just didn’t care to see where the story went.

I know we’re reading romance mostly as escapism, but c’mon, it’s so easy to tell when an author is just making things up. And I know how that sounds, but the girls who get it, get it. There’s making things up and then there’s making things up… but in a bad way. This was the bad way.

Anyway, it’s a no from me. See ya!

Really good start to a new series. I loved both heroes and really enjoyed being swept up into their drama/lives. Watching them work together to fit into each other's lives was addictive to read. Even though they are total opposites, they made me believe they belonged together.

My Opinions on:
- And we start again! New series! Bay might be a horny man, but he was also super passionate and dedicated to Gerald from the jump. He knew what he wanted and was in 110%. Gerald had so much going on and everything was so confusing for the poor guy. Once he let himself go he truly got to be happy. Bay is going to take amazing care of him. Structure was great and I love the world building. Everything is very detailed and personalities are very unique!
- Favorite Part: Towards the end when they had the . Gerald has come a long way in his view of the clubs and this just sealed the deal. I loved it! And Crowe & Grimm Adorable!

- Hardest/Most Difficult Part: When Gerald went to the warehouse and . I know there was a HEA but it was still hard and I was so emotional for him.

“I’ve seen the gentle, caring side of you, Bay, and I fell in love with that you. The man I saw last night? I’ve been dreading the day I’d meet him, not knowing what my reaction would be. Oh boy, I love the world of bikers this author created so much. This series is the spin-off from the Grimm Tales of Smokey Vale series. A series I read four times (and some) I think.

This story is about Bay he’s twenty-six and member of the Blood Hounds MC, and Gerald a forty-eight ex-mayor of Smoke Vale. If you read Fable’s story you know he’s Fable’s stepfather.
His ex wife is in jail and Fable is everything he got these days.

When Bay noticed Gerald at a biker party he knows he wants to have him, under him, be in him.
Normally he takes what he wants, but Gerald is something else, he’s special.

Other members noticed Bay turned down everyone who offered sex. They wonder, what changed.
Yep, Bay can’t get Gerald out of his mind. And Gerald, dang he’s smitten by the dirty mouthed biker.

Even with his ex wife in jail she gives Gerald all the trouble.

This story was a mix of sexy dirty stuff, illegal stuff, and downright disgusting crime (not by MC’s)
Both Grimm and Crowe’s club are the one who solve problems and boy did they!
Gerald is the center of all the events. Bay is the big biker stupidly in love with him, protective, jealous, possessive, everything I love about this series. They are perfect for each other.
The outcome of the plot was awesome, it was all incredible genius thought out. Compliments!
I can’t wait for the next story, I’m so thrilled there’s coming more. In my mind there are already couples who matched perfectly.
ALL the stars!

I adored this book more than I thought I would. Gerald was adorable in his innocence and he and Bay were just too cute but also sexy as hell!! I enjoyed the way Gerald came into his own with Bay. The mystery surrounding Gerald’s ex-wife was heartbreaking and just really scary to think about something like taking place in real life. It’s just so sad! I am part of Ms Holmes’s Patreon and I was in the minority when it came to adding a baby to a biker club and while I still have a few reservations about it, I do applaud Ms Holmes for how she did it. I know Gerald will be a great father and Crowe did seem to say that Bay should step back from the dangerous side of the club now, so hopefully the sweet baby will be safe.

Definitely looking forward to seeing Ben and Gunner get their HEA! Oh and Bloom and hopefully his grumpy doctor…lol!!
