Oh my!!!! If you need some suspenseful novellas to read, these ones were fabulous. I couldn't stop reading/listening! My daughters were pretty enthralled with them as well. Wowsers!

They all have their own twists and turns but I really enjoyed that all four were clean and I could continue listening when my daughters were in proximity. They even told me to not turn it off when I was listening. They told me they wanted to hear it all. Unfortunately, they only heard bits and pieces of it as they were at school or being dropped off at different activities. And I was doing a combination of reading/listening with this collection. It was just so good that I wanted the stories to continue even though I was not able to sit and read.

I have been reading Claire Poulson's books since I was a young teenager. He's a great author of mystery and suspense. Keeps me on the edge of my seat and his novella in this collection was no exception to that. I've read several of Traci Hunter Abramson and Stephanie Black's books before but Gregg Luke is a new to me author. One I'm looking forward to continuing reading his books.

These four authors know this genre well and it shows throughout this whole collection! Grab it and be on the edge of your seat the whole time you're reading. Or if you're like me reading and listening! Hahahaha *shrugs* I couldn't help it. I really don't need more suspense in my life (just kidding, I have plenty of drama in my household of many children) but this book just kept pulling me in.

Content: Clean. It's mystery/suspense so there are definitely many moments of peril. Kidnapping, attacks, gun fights (show down at the O K corral), and much more. But it was all written tastefully and not overly graphic.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

A book of four novellas by talented mystery/suspense/thriller writers is a book I couldn't pass up. I was already a fan of three of the authors (Abramson, Poulson, and Black) and now I'm a Gregg Luke fan.

BRIDGE OF TRUST by Traci Hunter Abramson--a mother trying to get her son back from the boy's criminal father, her ex-husband. While Summer heals from injuries sustained while trying to keep her older son from being kidnapped, FBI agent Ethan Flanagan tracks down leads on the missing boy.

As usual Traci Abramson kept me awake reading so I could see how this exciting story ends.

CORRUPTED by Clair Poulson--a mother's daughter is missing and she has to convince the police that the girl's been kidnapped, not runaway from home. Police Lieutenant Jay Tanstall is asked to investigate some of his fellow officers and discovers some might not be on the straight and narrow.

This story was interested because the readers know the truth of what's happening but not who's behind it until almost the end.

INSIDIOUS by Gregg Luke--Andrew is a pole vaulter headed to the Olympics until his body suddenly betrays him and he ends up in the hospital clinging to life. Nothing the doctors do really helps and they can't figure out the cause.

This story was scary especially when you find out what the diagnosis is and the cause. I loved that Andrew's wife, Taryn is a pharmacist and didn't let the main doctor treating her husband talk down to her. She knew her stuff and stood up to him.

SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL FOR SOMETHING EVIL by Stephanie Black--Kate and Colby are newlywed's and live in a small town. Kate is an artist and takes a part-time job at The Treasure Chest, a store in town.

I kept wondering when Kate was going to figure out that things weren't adding up. I thought I knew who the bad guy was but not the motive. It was really twisted. Another great suspense/thriller from Stephanie Black.

I really liked all of these stories. They grabbed me in and wouldn't let go until I had finished them. I like novels over novellas but with a novella you can read it in an afternoon when you got some spare time or the kids are napping. I also loved the cover and how ingenious it is with the authors names going down while the title goes across.

Thank you Covenant Communications via NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I’ll be upfront—I prefer novels to novellas. Novels give you more time with the characters and allow for bigger, more complicated plots. But since I’ve read previous books by these authors and enjoyed them, I was happy to get my hands on an ARC (thanks Covenant and Netgalley).

The stories were enjoyable. There might be a few drawbacks to novellas, but there are also some perks. It’s nice to let yourself get lost in a story and know it will only take you an hour or so to finish it, so it’s not going to take over your entire day. And these were all page-turners. They had solid plots that kept me wanting to find out what would happen next. Readers who enjoy shorter suspense stories will be satisfied with this collection.

I love suspense and was excited to hear that four of my favorite authors were collaborating on this book! I am glad that it didn't disappoint. I love full-length novels since I get a better feel for the characters, but I also love novellas because the stories move along quickly so they really hold my attention. I also love that I can read a story in one sitting, and have another one to look forward to the next time I sit down. I wanted to keep reading these, but also wanted the book to last.

I enjoyed how different each of these stories were. Even though they were novellas, I was invested in the characters and enjoyed getting to know them. There were twists and turns and surprises as well. This is a book I will definitely read again. Whether or not you are familiar with these authors, if you enjoy suspense, this is a book you will definitely want to read!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not affect my review in any way.

The first thing that I noticed from this collection of novellas is the creativity in the cover. The author's names running down the title all spaced with one letter in between. That is so creative and impressive. The geeky OCD side of me loved it. <3

This book is a collection of four suspense novellas. All are written by author's that I have previously read and enjoyed. It was easy for me to get into this book. Not all of them have a "happily-ever-after". I was OK with that though. The story was interesting and life doesn't always turn out the way that we hope it will.

I was swept away by the first story. A young mother's son was kidnapped by her ex-husband's criminal network. With the help of FBI agent Ethan Flanagan, they work to bring her son home and stop her husband from bothering her again. This was my favorite story of the four.

The second book deals with police corruption and girls being kidnapped and sold. As a mother, it is terrifying and I was right there with the families hoping to get their daughter's back before it is too late.

Gregg Luke's knowledge of disease is terrifying. I am saying this in a good way. I love to read his books because they are interesting and full of information. He knows how to teach and entertain at the same time.

The last book was also a favorite of mine. Kate is gullible. She has information that is at odds with each other and has to try to figure out who to trust before it is too late. She has to piece information together to come to a terrifying truth.

I would say that all of the stories are well done. This book is 372 pages long and it only took me a couple of days to read it. It is a clean book with a lot of suspense and a tiny bit of romance. There is also non-graphic violence.

Source: I received a complimentary ARC. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

"Makes me sick . . . . Using something beautiful for something evil."

Four unique novellas comprise this collection; their plot lines ranging from kidnappings to serial killers, each story charging ahead with stand alone force, entangling its characters in circumstances beyond their control.

For example, in "Something Beautiful for Something Evil" by Stephanie Black a young newlywed accidentally discovers that her husband is not exactly who he has presented himself to be. Taking his explanation at face value, Kate Durham begins her new job at a local gift emporium, cautiously looking for anything out of the ordinary, as directed by her husband. When a local college coed is brutally murdered with an implement purchased from The Treasure Chest, Kate is unknowingly thrust between the hunted and the hunter.

Several of these stories seemed a bit unfinished, even rushed a bit, which can be characteristic of shorter stories. Nevertheless, it's a nice collection for readers who enjoy suspense.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The opinions stated above are entirely my own.

WOW! I loved this book. Each story is full of danger, heart-pounding suspense, evil bad buys, and strong, capable good guys! I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I really liked the novella length for each story. This efficiently moved the plot along quickly. I never felt lacking in details or character depth. These are talented authors that really know how to pull in the reader, no matter the length of story. If you asked my favorite, that would be really hard. All were wonderful. Each unique and genuinely great stories. Each moved fast, which I liked.

I’m always on the lookout for a new suspense novel to read. This one is amazing because it has novellas by 4 of my very favorite suspense authors. I’m excited to get to tell you about it. I’ll talk a bit about each of the novellas.

First up is Bridge of Trust by Traci Hunter Abramson. Ethan in this one happens upon a grisly scene as an FBI agent trying to find his mark. There’s a young mother with her baby and a dead body across the room.

This novella moves fast! I loved the way the reader could never tell what was coming next. Neither could the characters and that made it all the more great. I loved this one!

Next is Corrupted by Clair M Poulson. This one features Jay as a local policeman. He’s a good policeman, asked to help look into others in their department. Things get a little crazy when girls start being kidnapped. It’s up to Jay to find them.

I loved this one too! I loved the way the author shows several different perspectives as things happen. The reader is able to know what’s happened, but not why. I loved the way this kept the bad guy veiled from the reader, as well as from the characters. That kept me from guessing just who the bad guy was.

Then there’s Gregg Luke’s Insidious. This one scared me the most out of all of them. Gregg Luke writes books about illnesses that are real. And that to me is probably the most scary thing, knowing that what he describes could really happen to someone that I know and love.

Insidious features Andrew and his wife Taryn. I loved the way the reader is able to see things about Andrew through both of their eyes. The mystery in this one kept me guessing. Just what was wrong with Andrew and why? I loved the way Taryn worked tirelessly to figure it out. And she didn’t get discouraged when the doctor tried to brush her off.

Last up is Stephanie Black’s Something Beautiful for Something Evil. I loved Kate in this one. She’s newly married to Colby and they’ve just moved to the Boston area, where Kate has a new job at The Treasure Chest, a local shop.

This is one of those books where I wanted to shout at the main character to watch out. I had guessed from the beginning who the bad guy was. I just didn’t know how things were going to play out. It’s always kind of fun when you’re right about things like that. I kind of enjoy being safe at home and reading a book where you know there’s danger around every corner.

This is one book I didn’t want to put down. Make sure to grab your own copy!

Suspense; Contemporary; Clean
Clean suspense novella collection. These were varied, unique and fun to read. Different cases in each one, one is a medical thriller, one a mob boss, one human trafficking, etc. Each author takes a different take on the title and it was a perfect suspense read for me. Strong settings, characters and crimes varied with each one. Sometimes it is law enforcement, sometimes ordinary citizens solving the crimes. Perfect suspense read if you enjoy that genre. I have read two of the authors prior, and was glad to be introduced to the other two. Strong characters and diverse settings, and plot lines made this even more fun to read.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. This in no way influenced my opinions.

ENTANGLED is a collection of four suspense novellas that stand completely on their own with no reference to the other stories in the collection. One story tells about an FBI agent and the woman and her children who he is trying to protect. Another tells of a kidnapping and the detective who investigates. The third is about a mysterious illness that attacks an Olympic hopeful pole vaulter. The last story tells of a newlywed woman who finds herself part of her husband's side job trying to unravel a terrorist threat. Each story is unique, with a constant underlying feel of danger, and a climatic ending. Recommended to suspense fans!

I enjoyed each of the stories in this collection. Abramson's, Luke's, and Black's stories were my favorites of the group. Poulson's story felt a little disjointed to me, mostly in regards to the dialogue (there were several phrases that just didn't sound like something someone would say) and some of the things that happened felt really unrealistic. Luke's story wasn't a suspense in the sense of the others... it's more just trying to figure out an illness, but it was very interesting. I'm sure there could have been more development in places, but they are all short stories. Overall, they were all well-written and I liked all the characters.

In the end, was it what I wished for? These four novellas were entertaining, suspenseful, and held my interest. I would definitely recommend to suspense fans.

Content: Some violence due to the genre, but clean.
Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not require a positive review nor affect it in any way.

I was so excited when I heard that some of my favorite authors were in a suspense novella collection called Entangled. Stephanie Black, Gregg Luke, Traci Abramson, and Clair Poulson all have new stories in this collection that you won't want to miss!

I have to say that they were all edge-of-your-seat stories. As you all know, I have had many creepy experiences while reading Stephanie Black stories (the late night rocking chair is the famous of all!), but this time I only had the toe-curling tension of who was going to live and who would die! I love the delicious creepiness of her stories and this one did not disappoint. Traci Abramson's story was a fast-paced thriller of a young woman whose child has been kidnapped by her criminal ex-husband and she'll work together with an FBI agent to get them back. I really enjoyed the hero in this one and his dedication to the case. Clair Poulson's story features a human trafficking element that is all too real in our current society, and Gregg Luke's story of a frantic search to find a cure for a rapidly progressing disease is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.

Each story had a different angle of suspense and will satisfy any reader who loves bite-sized bits of chills and thrills. These four stories will definitely keep you on your toes and turning pages as fast as possible!

What happens when you bring together four of today's best mystery suspense writers? You get a book of captivating novellas that you can't put down. I have read many books by these four authors and knew that I would be reading some terrific stories. Each one was different but equally thrilling. Even with them being shorter lengths than I'm used to reading by each of them, I was still totally taken in by the plots and intriguing characters in sometimes perilous situations. The plots range from kidnappings, murders, a medical mystery, and a new bride swept up in a web full of lies.

I truly like having books with novellas to read when my life is super busy. I could come home each night and read one of them even though I was so tired. My first thought when I finished Entangled was I hoped that these four writers will pen another incredible book together. They know how to write thrilling stories that will bring readers back begging for more! Well done Traci Hunter Abramson, Clair M. Poulson, Gregg Luke, and Stephanie Black. Entangled will snare readers from the first to the last page.

Reading Entangled was a fantastic and thrilling read. Each novella was different and unique but full of action and suspense that kept me reading. I loved that each story was long enough to be a full story but short enough to read when I didn't have a lot of time. Bridge of Trust by Abramson pulled me into the fast and furious world of the FBI and drug bosses. It is a must read. Corrupted by Poulson made me rethink everything I thought about safety and kept me on my toes about who would live and who would die. Insidious by Luke was one big mystery and since I don't want to spoil it, just go read it! Something Beautiful for Something Evil was a complete whodunnit, it kept me trying to sleuth until the end. If you love action/suspense, thrills and mystery, then you will love this collection of novellas, Entangled! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

While Stephanie Black's and Traci Hunter Abramson's stories were fairly fantastic, the other two were not. The second story was so maddening that I couldn't get past the plot device and the horrific cop. The third seemed to have promise, but the medical mystery dragged and the antagonistic characters weren't very likable. For best results, simply read the first novella and the last.

It's like a wonderful mix of everything I wanted and more. I love a good short story because of the suspense and action involved with being sucked into a story like the ones found in this book. I admit I hadn't heard of these authors in the part but I've certainly looked them in after reading these.

It's a great way to get different writers and different perspectives on how suspense and story come together. A great read!

One of the things I love about novellas is how quickly they can be read. They get to the heart of the plot quickly and they move rapidly all the way through. The problem that can happen with a collection like this though is that you may not like all the stories equally. I am pleased to say though that that didn't happen here, at least not for me. I enjoyed all four stories and they were all intriguing and very different. One story revolves around a woman who is trying to get her oldest son back from her drug dealing ex-husband, who also seems to want her dead. But with the help of a kind FBI agent, she hopes to see Henry again. The second story revolves around a woman whose daughter is kidnapped and her detective boyfriend must help her find the girl. The problem is that corrupt cops seem to be involved. The third story is a medical mystery with Taryn working with the doctors to try to figure out what is wrong with her husband. And the fourth story revolves around a woman, her shop, antagonistic neighbors, and a murder. Each story is well-written and pulled me in completely despite how short each story was. I will admit that one story broke my heart a bit, but life, even in stories doesn't always have a happy ending. I would recommend that you read these when you have some time because the book is hard to put down. A well-done collection of stories perfect for those who enjoy a good suspense.

Four fabulous authors came together to create this magnificent novella collection of exciting and intense romantic-suspense stories. Each author has a unique voice in their story, adding some depth to the collection. One story at a time independently comes to life from the pages. The cover for this story collection is one that will definitely capture the attention of readers and cause them to pick up the book to see what it’s all about. This is a splendid collection of spine tingling novellas that will leave readers on the edge of their seats and cause them to stay up late into the night reading.

This collection of four suspense novellas was quite unexpected. I loved the unique tales each author put into their story, and each was diverse enough to keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat. A couple of them really amped up the suspense and had me nervous to go to sleep in the dark afterwards.

I was surprised to find myself so emotionally involved in some of these stories- each took different twists that kept me guessing til the end what would happen. I really liked the strong female characters in each story- there was at least one in each that really stood out to me with their bravery and/or confidence.

Definitely a great collection that will keep you up far later than you ever planned, and I hope to see more like this in the future.

Fun compilation, quick read, four great authors. My favorite two stories are the bookends: the stories by Abramson and Black. I read them out of order, saving Abramson for last. Each novella was complete with a beginning, middle, and end. The character arcs were small due, which is typical for a novella. The intrigue was excellent, which is what you expect from these authors. Overall, each story was satisfying. This set of novellas offers something for everyone. They vary wildly in topic and craft.

“Bridge of Trust”, by Abramson, is the first selection and features a woman who recently divorced her criminal husband. He has kidnapped one of their children, and the FBI—including one of Abramson’s recurring characters, Charlie Whitmore—are on the case. Naturally, there’s an element of romance here, as well as edge-of-your seat situations. This is Abramson’s usual quality work.

“Corrupted”, by Poulson, is next. It’s a huge contrast from Abramson’s work. I have a handful of his books that a friend gave me that I have not yet read. If they are of the same quality as this, they will end up in the donation pile. I peeked in one, and it was not encouraging. The story is…fine. Someone is kidnapping young girls off the street and trafficking them. Widowed police Lieutenant Jay Tanstall becomes personally involved when his girlfriend’s daughter disappears…and the cop who took a witness statement from the neighbor lady records incorrect details.

My first objection to this story is the basic plot premise. It appears Poulson has bought into the incorrect assumptions about human trafficking. A quick Google search reveals that most trafficking victims are adult women, and that victims (and particularly teen/preteen girls) are rarely randomly abducted off the street and trafficked.

But even worse than the plot is the writing style. Like, so difficult to read. Long strings of one-syllable words. Very few contractions when the characters speak. Conversation is stilted, and the characters use each others’ names far too much in the conversation. For instance, Jay’s partner, Vallie, starts with his name about every other time she speaks during an intense conversation.

“Insidious”, by Luke, is not your typical thriller. This one is a race-against-time attempt by Taryn Miner, a pharmacist, and her husband’s doctor to figure out why her Olympic-caliber pole vaulter husband is suddenly in a severe health crisis. Luke’s own pharmacology experience comes to the front a little too much, as the science-speak can become a bit too much. I’ll be honest, I had the diagnosis a lot sooner than the characters did—Luke telegraphed it very clearly if you know what you’re looking for.

The final story is “Something Beautiful for Something Evil” by Black. This one uses the trope of the naïve woman falling for a man’s (in this case, her husband’s) claim to be secretly working for the government in order to use her in furthering his own evil ends. This was, to me, the second best of the stories in the book. It had enough intricate plotting to keep it interesting, although I was still shaking my head at how gullible Kate was.

Possible objectionable material:
Various types of violence and peril. No swearing, no sex.

Who might like this book:
Those who enjoy a collection of shorter stories rather than a full-length book, and like their mysteries varied.

Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the eARC, which was provided in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

This one has to be reviewed in four separate parts, because my feelings about each story were very different.

Story One (Abramson) 4 stars. I love this author, and if a full-size book is like a Jason Bourne movie, this shorter version was like an episode of NCIS or CSI. Not really the same thing, but just as satisfying in a different way. Good story, likable characters, and a good (read "happy") ending.

Story Two (Poulson) 2.5 stars. I really wanted to like this one...I am always looking for new authors that I know I can trust with keeping it clean but still tell a good story. This one was a little more like watching an episode of CSI: Miami (for anyone who has seen this show, you KNOW what I am talking about). So much was either over the top, undershot, or just plain unbelievable. It took a while to like some of the characters. I have to say that it came together nicely in the last third, but just not a terribly believable storyline. I am debating if I will check out more from this author or not.

Story Three (Luke) 2 stars. To stick with the TV comparisons, this was an episode of ER without the drama (excepting a horrible mother-in-law that doesn't really play out as real) or the dumbing down of medical things. I felt as if I were back in college reading a textbook at times. I am sure this disease has meaning for this author...in fact, one of my good friends died from it many years ago. It is a horrific, fast, delibitating and incurable illness (so of course, not really a happy ending possible...although the author did try). Also, it just didn't really fit with the other three. The writing was good, but again, not sure if I will seek out more by this author or not.

Story Four (Black) 3.5 stars. This one was like watching an episode of Criminal Minds. I liked that the supposed "bad guys" were the ones you were rooting for. I thought that Kate was a little unbelievable at times, but it ended up working okay. And, just like Criminal Minds, there were some good twists and turns, even though I had the killer pegged pretty early on.

Overall, not a bad read (listen...audiobook was good) but nothing to race out and buy for my collection.

Novellas require a difficult balance. Sometimes, they either feel like a short story that got dragged out a bit too much or a novel that didn’t quite reach its potential. Luckily, that was not the case with these novellas. I would put all four novellas in the 4-4.5 stars range.

Bridge of Trust- This one was well-written. I felt drawn into the story. There were a few parts of the story that felt a bit far-fetched, but that’s fairly common in FBI types of novels. There is some shooting, but the violence is not descriptive or gruesome. ]

Corrupted- Overall, I did enjoy this story. Corrupt cops and kidnappings take place. There is some shooting in this novella as well, but it doesn’t get graphic. As a warning to readers, this story does hint that the kidnapped victims were taken to be sold as slaves (potentially sex slaves). We don’t get the graphic details, but this might be difficult for some readers to read. My biggest issue with this story was that it ended a bit too abruptly. I felt like the last 3-4 pages should have been more like 6-8 pages. It still would have been a novella, just a slightly longer one.

Insidious- Gregg Luke, why did you have to do that to me? I’ll be honest. This book probably drew me in the quickest and left me wanting to finish it as fast as I could. Yet, it also disturbed me the most. Don’t worry. I won’t ruin the plot. Let’s just say that I’ve never been a hypochondriac, but I’m now a bit paranoid that I’m going to get the same disease as Andrew got. It sounds horrible! As a warning to readers, this is a bit of talk of illegal drugs (always in a negative way). There is some medical talk that went over my head, but it’s basic enough that I can get the idea of the plot. Those with a medical background may appreciate the medical talk.

Something Beautiful for Something Evil- Stephanie Black is one of my favorite writers, and while I enjoyed this story, it wasn’t my favorite by her. I don’t want to ruin the plot, but for me, something just felt a little too obvious about the plot pretty much from the first chapter. I would have enjoyed a bit more suspense.

I bought this book in order to read Traci Hunter Abramson's novella--she is one of my favorite authors and is my favorite Latter-day Saint fiction author. Her novella was great; she is always able to take an incredible situation and make it credible and fascinating, in part because of her past working for the CIA.

Unfortunately, the rest of the novellas were not as good as Abramson's. The second, by Clair M. Poulson, was bad--badly written, badly plotted, predictable, and not credible. The story involves a series of kidnappings of teenage girls in the Denver metro area, but the burden of solving the cases is on two overworked, sleep- and food-deprived police officers, one of whom has an emotional attachment to the case (and so would not be allowed to continue investigating it). Where's the cooperation with other area police departments who are dealing with similar cases and where, oh where, is the FBI, who would be all over this in real life? Can anyone be expected to do good work when he or she hasn't slept and hasn't eaten in a couple of days, no matter how exigent the circumstances are? Maybe they can't trust everyone in their department, so this is a reason to bring in officers from nearby departments or--hey--how about the FBI? The criminals seem both incredibly effective and incredibly stupid. This one didn't work for me.

The third story, by Gregg Luke, is a medical mystery involving a woman whose husband is inexplicably going downhill fast. Because she is a pharmacist, she is able to make suggestions to her husband's doctor, which at first are not well-received (ah, ego and hierarchy in medical practice), but the doctor later realizes she knows what she's talking about, and that is satisfying. A pretty good story, all in all.

The fourth story, by Stephanie Black, is well done but involves more disturbing portrayals of evil. There's a good twist at the end, but it is effectively foreshadowed. This one gets a good grade.
So--this would be a book to check out from the library rather than buy. And you might want to skip the second novella.

Traci Hunter Abramson starts this compilation off with Bridge of Trust, a spell-binding tale of deception, fear, heartbreak and healing. Ethan is an FBI agent living in Arizona; his life is turned upside-down when he is assigned to protect Summer from her drug dealer husband.
Clair M. Poulson is next with Corrupted, where Lieutenant Jay Tanstall has to protect his two teenage children from corrupt police officers who are targeting him as a new Internal Affairs officer. This is a sit-on-the-end-of-your-seat type story that kept me up late.
Then we have Insidious by Gregg Luke. A heart-wrenching story of love and unknown disease. Andrew Miner's life is turned on its head when he suddenly gets sick during tryouts for an Olympic track team. His wife Taryn, a pharmacist, is doing her best to help the doctors treating her husband figure out what's wrong. This is a page-turning story that brought tears to my eyes.
Last is Something Beautiful for Something Evil by Stephanie Black. Kate and her husband Colby recently moved to a little town in Massachusetts when a violent murder takes place. Kate believes she is helping Colby with his work for the government when she starts spying on her new boss for him. Jamie is Kate's new boss and is confused by the mounting questions around her new employee. This story is scary and nail-biting and wonderful.
These are 4 of my favorite authors. They weave stories of intrigue, deception, mystery, and usually have happy endings. If you're interested in a quick, relaxing read, then this is a great choice.

This is a complication of short stories by 4 different authors. I wish I could rate each of these stories individually but overall I have to give the overall book only two stars. One of the books was so bad it didn’t deserve any stars. If you decide to read this book you could skip that one and the others are worth the read but DON’T read the one by Gregg Luke. It is NOT worth the time or the disappointment. Looking at each story on its own I would rate them as follows:
Bridge of Trust, by Traci Hunter Abramson - 4 stars. Captivating story and I liked the characters. Held my attention to the end.
Corrupted, by Clair M. Paulson - 3 stars. This was a little predictable and some of the part were not believable but it as also very disturbing in the subject matter. I was glad it was a short story because it seemed to drag a bit even being short. It was however worth the read.
Insidious, by Gregg Luke - 0 stars. This story had no real plot. It was more the chronology of an experience. The characters were not likable, and the tragedy overall was not my kind of thing. I do not recommend this even a little.
Something Beautiful For Something Evil, by Stephanie Black - 3.5 stars. This definitely grabbed and held my attention but it was pretty predictable. I didn’t like some of the characters and thought they made some dumb choices but it was short enough that it was worth the read.

These novella compilation books are fun; however, sometimes I feel that the endings are rushed in novellas.

Bridge of Trust - 3.5 stars. We get some of Charlie and William Blake, but Kendra doesn’t make an appearance. We also get a hint of Tia and Evan when Charlie uses their house in Arizona as a safe house for Summer.

Corrupted - 3 stars. I don’t read a lot of Clair Poulson but I do wonder if these characters are featured in another one of his books. I do feel this ending was rushed.

Insidious - 2 stars. I’m not sure why this novella was included in a “suspense” compilation. It was more medical mystery until the end, which if they would have had the MRI the second day he was in the hospital they would have figured out what was wrong with him I also really didn’t like the end. I know people die from the disease, not the way I wanted it to end

Something Beautiful for Something Evil - 3.5 stars. I really need to start reading more of Stephanie Blacks work. This story brings back Jamie and Julian from the Haunting Reminders story in Twisted Fate.

Entangled is a compilation of four books that puts you on a roller coaster of emotions and is almost impossible to set down. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. I laughed, cried, and was always anxious to find out what would happen next! My favorite book out of the four would probably have to be "Insidious" because I felt the most emotion in that book than any of the others. I loved Tayrn, the main character because she was driven, smart, supportive, encouraging, and most of all, filled with love. Tayrn's husband is suddenly stricken with an unknown disease and is unable to function properly. Being the amazing wife that she is, Tayrn puts her skilled mind to work, trying to crack the strange illness, even having to put up with her crazy hippie mother-in-law. Although she is exhausted and worn out from stress, she never lets her personal needs get in the way. Finally, the doctors can put a name to the horrible disease, Variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Or in simplified terms, mad cow disease. Sadly, there is no cure. Spending the last few hours that her beloved husband has left, Taryn is brought some good news. She's going to have a baby, the last little piece of her husband that she will be able to cherish and treasure for the rest of her life.
