After Fianna Fitzgerald's debut runway show of her fashion designs, a walk on the Malibu beach with reclusive rock star Niall Finley nearly claims their lives when they get caught in high tides. Will the bond they form in those critical moments be enough to last a lifetime?
When Fianna left Ireland for America to follow her dream of becoming a fashion designer, she was determined to leave her family's ancient past behind and start fresh in Beverly Hills. Fianna never imagined that her goal would jeopardize her and those who work for her. From the runways of Los Angeles to London, someone is trying to sabotage her debut season. As Fianna struggles between two vastly different worlds, her troubles mount, though her friends lend their support in her darkest hours.
Is the terror linked to her family's ancient feudal past, or something else? Furthermore, can she leave Ireland with her heart intact or will she lose it to only man she's ever loved?

Against her mother’s wishes, Fianna leaves Ireland to launch a career as a fashion designer in the USA. Encouraged by her best friends she holds her debut runway show with resounding success. There she meets Niall and not knowing anything about him, she takes a stroll on the beach with him. They get caught in a tidal wave that almost takes their lives and the connection between them is made, although it appears to fizzle out before the relationship can go anywhere. With her sister getting married in Ireland, Fianna returns home to face an onslaught of family and peer pressure to marry a local man, and she has her work cut out for her resisting their bombardment of pressure. Added to that, when her fashion show in Ireland is sabotaged, resulting in injury to the models, Fianna has to rethink her future and overcome the Fitzgerald Flop as the press has labelled her, but Fianna is no shrinking violet and neither is she a quitter. With the help of Niall and her friends she has a breakthrough and the story comes to a happy conclusion at the Bow-Tie Restaurant that has featured so prominently in this series. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I hope you have read the first two books in the series. I guess you don't need to read them in order but I think it helps a lot if you do Runway is just an excellent book. Jan Moran is the Exceptional author of All her books and series! In Runway, you will find the book centered in Hollywood and in the country of Ireland. It has triumph, heartbreak, mystery, misery, love and excitement, friendship and love again. I really enjoyed this book, I hope you will too!
Beautiful, smart and driven to succeed as a fashion designer, Fianna Fitzgerald leaves Ireland for America. From California and beyond the hardship and glamour of Fianna’s career is showcased in this wonderful, romantic book by Jan Moran. This is a story of a woman who is on the cusp of a successful career and who is also able to make room in her heart for love. Thank you to the author for this ARC. The comments are my honest opinion.
Runway is book number three in the Jan Moran, Love, California series. Although there are quite a few characters, this one mainly revolves around fashion designer, Fianna Fitzgerald and singer/songwriter, Niall Finley. Very good book and very good series.
Once again, the audience is captivated by the writings of Ms. Moran. Runway details Fianna’s rise, fall, and resurrection as a designer breaking in to the industry. Along the way she finds true love with none other than Niahl Finley. You will not want to miss this lovely story …
The majority of the book was really the two different storylines. You read about the fashion industry with the heroine. With the hero it is mostly about moving past the loss in his life. In the last few chapters they come together again, separate and then back together again in the last chapter.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the fashion industry. The settings and characters were very enjoyable. I will have to read the whole series.
Runway, Jan Moran’s current offering, did not disappoint this reader. Fianna was already a well favored character in the first two books, so when Jan devoted this third book to Fianna and her love of fashion, I squealed in delight. The very vision of a tall Irish beauty with coppery locks and a striking brown/green eye combination that would knock the socks off most any guy who watched her walk the catwalk, or down Beverly Hills Blvd in one of her creations turned my five foot three, grey-haired eyes green with envy. Long legs is one thing this girl never owned. Jan has a knack for bringing her characters back to earth. She reaches behind all the trappings of the glitz, lights, and glimmer of the Runway world and allows her characters to be human. They have real family issues that the reader can identify with. Even with a fast paced mystery and the impossible Love we would die for walking through the door, she continues to keep her characters grounded in day-to-day issues of living. In Fianna, she bestows upon her an extra share of caring and a large heart that sees others first, even in the midst of her own crisis. She also provided the readers with some wonderful eye candy on the hero side of the aisle with a retiring Irish rock star who is a widower. Just based on the book’s description, all I could hear, every time it talked about him singing was one of those gorgeous Irish Tenors just crooning away in those hypnotizing Irish brogues. My heart was sunk. Jan Moran’s heroines are strong, dominate women who have made their way into the beauty world, have battled against the odds, and have the mental acuity to go head-to-head against the obstacles that fall in their path. They care deeply for their families and for their friends. Their loyalty is without question. They love deeply and with great sensuality. Not only are the storylines fast-paced and well written, there are scenes that leave you in a sweat. Jan is quickly becoming a major contender in the Women’s Fiction market for just cause. Runway, receives a strong FIVE STAR rating from this reader, with a strong recommendation to read the first two books in the Hostile Beauty Series: FLAWLESS, and BEAUTY MARK.
Runway: A Love, California Series Novel Book 3 is by Jan Moran. This continues the story of four friends in California. Scarlett is a lawyer, Verena makes skincare products, Fianna is a designer, and Dahlia is a perfumer. They are all working to make their companies grow but still have time for love. Fianna is a designer. She has her own shop where she designs and sells her own unique clothing lines. She is trying to break into the licensing end of the business. She wants shoe makers and purse makers to make products to go with her designs. She also wants several big name stores to carry her designs. However, she has to be able to get a foot in the door. Her time comes when she is to do a runway show for charity. She has been lucky enough to have Penelope, a Danish model as a friend. When the designer who was to do the show died, Penelope pushed for Fianna to do the show. Fianna’s aunt had contracted Fianna to do a show in Ireland when she went over for her sister’s wedding so Fianna had a line ready to go. However, her nerves are on end as she gets the models ready to go on. One of the new models has a guest in the room with her although that isn’t allowed. When Fianna goes over to ask him to leave, he tells her that the music she selected wouldn’t do for her show. He maneuvers her into listening to music on his headset. When she agrees, he says he has already given her music person the music to use. Then he leaves. Fianna is unsettled. For some reason she is attracted to him but she can’t deal with that now. Maybe after the show she can find him and talk to him. Little does she know that he is the musician who wrote the msic she will be using. He is Naill Finley of a group which has broken up. What in the world broke them up? Can Fianna deal with the mystery of Naill, her show and the next show, her sister’s wedding, and being back home all at the same time? What else can come down the line?
"We know who we are, and that’s all that matters."
I have loved Jan Moran's work since I found Scent of Triumph a few years back. I figured then that if she wrote that well about two of my favorite things: Paris and perfume, that she was well worth my loyalty.
And with the exception of her book Fabulous Fragrances, I have read everything she as published. Runway, the third book in the Hostile Beauty Series follows Fianna and her search for truth and love.
Fianna is the dress designer of the four women in this series. She's from Ireland, but left there to learn fashion design in California while living with her aunt Davina, a retired supermodel. Since then, she has slowly built a clientle for her designs, and has scheduled her first runway show in Dublin, conciding with her sister Lizzie's wedding.
Told in true Jan Moran style, we see Fianna struggle with life and her work, integrity and her art, and turn what could have been into the best there is. And, like Daphne and Lance, and Scarlett and Johnny, Fianna finds her life is so much more than work in this story.
Books like this end too quickly, but the story will stay with you long after the last words are read. Jan Moran is a writer you will look forward to once you read one of her books. I dare you to read just one!
This is a a good romance and story about a couple that connects one night at her fashion charity debut. Fianna doesn’t know who Niall is since she never listens to rock music. Niall has withdrawn from public life after the death of his wife. He only came to the fashion show to support his sister at his urging of this father. After a near death experience, Fianna and Niall spend the night talking and eventually sleeping at his home. Since they live on other sides of the world, they aren’t sure if they will ever see each other again. This book doesn’t have the suspense of the other books, but this story focuses more on how Niall and Fianna deal with their lives and work and reconnect. This is good book and series.
