I whole heartedly recommend this book for all readers. Claire has a delightful way of engaging the reader right from the beginning. Although the story was primarily Emily and Luke's story, she created a tension in the family that made me care about each member and concern for the outcome of their relocation as well as the love story. The further into the book I got, the more eager I was to keep reading. There were a few areas that could have been delved into a little deeper, for example I wanted to know more about her foray into the theater and her new school friends. However, over all the pace of the book was good, especially for younger readers. The author kept the story from being sappy, overly sexual and the drama was balanced with common sense. The protagonist is a good role model. Claire Crafts earned every one of the five stars.

"Trust the Wind" is a charming coming-of-age romance--written by a sixteen-year-old! Claire Crafts is a terrific writer. She has captured the angst, fear, and attraction young people experience. Emily Lawrence moves with her family from southern California to Montana at the start of her freshman year in high school. She misses her friends, her school, and her laid-back way of life. The book captures the process as she adjusts to her new home. A winner.

This is the debut novel of Claire Crafts, published on her 16th birthday. It is a charming coming-of-age book with a bit of romance. Because she is close to the age of her protagonist, she understands teenage emotions. Her characters are believable. Although the book is targeted at a teenage audience, adults will enjoy it as well because the writing is compelling.
