The Reaping was supposed to be three trials. Three trials, Victor Canidae had to complete and in doing so–he’d successfully earn Nerina Simpson as his mate.
Three Trials. For him only.
But the Goddess Selene has plans of her own. Plans that are far reaching and affect not only Pack Canidae, but Clan Denali. A concern that has all of the Northern territory pulling out their claws.
The council all agree, Nerina is not the answer, in turn, bringing back insecurities and concerns Victor thought long buried. But with this new twist in the mix, there’s only three things either of them can do.
Face their fears, Face each other. And above all, do not fail.

The Reaping by Tigris Eden Arctic Wolves series 1.5. Paranormal wolf shifter romance based in mythology with a mate challenge. Dual POV. Best read as part of the series. Victor must face a challenge to prove Nerina is his true mate. The Counsel isn’t satisfied and Nerina must prove her worthiness as well. Survive or die trying.
Complex world building and in-depth mythology layers. I found it difficult more than once to determine what was real or really happening in the story. A lot of trust and faith and history for the characters. mythology and tracking by multiple names and events are beyond my scope of “reading for entertainment” so in the end this one wasn’t for me. But I did finish and It is a romance so we know what that means.
As if passing three trials were not bad enough for Victor Canidae, let us add a Goddess to the mix. Yep and she does not want him to succeed because if Victor wins he will earn the right to have Nerina as his mate. If that happens then all of Goddess Selene's plans will fail. She does not like it when things do not go her way. The true test is the battle Victor playing in his head and heart. Time to deal with fears and who to trust as if life depends on it. Because well it does. A great way to introduce yourself to the writings and characters of Tigris Eden in this short read that will have you reaching for more of the Attic Wolves series.
Oh my goodness this book! I so want more and this was a good little tease/torture of the characters. Tigris Eden aggravates me so much and I love it! My gosh woman what else do you plan to do to these characters! I loved this story it was a test of will, strength, and loyalty for both Nerina and Victor. The story was engaging and entertaining and at one point wanted to hit Vic with his own book; I could not put this book down.
This story is about 70 pages long. The editing is much better than 'Arctic Bound (Arctic Wolves ) (Volume 1)'. There are still some editing problems which interrupt the flow on occasion, but I am very impressed with the improvements in this area. However, there are certain areas that needed to be edited out and other parts that needed enhancement. There were a few areas in chapter 5 that needed to be a bit more refined. That is the ONLY negative for this story.
I undeniably enjoyed the majority of this story. It has qualities that makes this series very unique and memorable. I love the way she has woven old gods and goddesses into the fabric of this world. With very little tweaking it could have been 5 stars. I so wish we were able to give half stars. I think this one deserves 4.5 stars.
I saw a review that said the next book in this series is called 'Dire Cravings'. I can't find it listed on Goodreads nor Amazon. I looked it up on Tigris Eden's website and it says it comes out in the fall of 2016, but the counter at the top says 148 + days. The end of fall is about 80 days away from today. I am excited to see where she takes us in this world of Arctic Wolves. I am absolutely going to follow this series.
Our Quick and Dirty Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle: An action-packed bridge novella in the world of Tigris's Arctic Wolves series, we get to experience the emotional ups and downs of Nerina and Victor as they undergo the Reaping. To me, personally, this novella had a lot of real world lessons that were hinted at. Ones that each and every one of us has either learned or needs to learn--insecurity, loss, difficult choices, bias, and so many more. I really like Nerina, and it was wonderful to see her and Victor come out on top after being put through the wringer. :) Complex world-building and suspense around every turn. I'm excited for more in the world of the Arctic Wolves.
This was a quick read that must come in between or after another story. The goddess speaks and trials begin, who will come out on top? Interesting storyline.
The Reaping is set to happen but neither Victor nor Nerina are really prepared for the tests that lie ahead.
I had to read The Reaping to see what happened next, as this novella completes Victor and Nerina’s story before moving on to Blue and Olivia’s. I’m not too sure if this is a series I’m going to continue on with if I’m honest, as there’s just something about it that doesn’t click for me. Once more when given the opportunity to prove his loyalty to Nerina, Victor chooses the pack, despite the fact that he’s previously stated to himself that Nerina is more important to him. His lack of faith in her and her ability to overlook that fact just annoys me. I found the plot a little difficult to handle here too, as I really don’t like the whole “it was just a dream” bit. Their test is real but not real and I really hate being left confused as to what actually happened. If the story was a little more clearly written and the events a little better explained I’d have really enjoyed this story so far, but oh well, c’est la vie; it’s still an okay read.
This short action packed story was just as good as the first book (Which I suggest you read before this) definitely another page turner.
This is all about Nerina and Victor and the Reaping, a trial supposedly for Victor but it seems the goddess has plans for Nerina too. The other characters are involved but not in the “real” sense of the story.
Acceptance seemed to be the main thread through-out the story; Nerina....to accept who and what she really is. Victor…..to accept Nerina for who and what she is, love her heart, soul and defects. (To catch up with his wolfs and warriors feelings!) Geeeez…..the human side is soooo slow!! Also the rest of the pack to accept Nerina and the fact that she is Victors mate, “eros.”
There is obviously a lot more to the story, but you will have to read it to find out!! It was a good read and once started I could not put it down.
I would definitely recommend this novella and I can’t wait to read the next book.
This is my review and how I see it. In book 2 there is an interesting turn of events as the two main characters are fighting to remain together against the Pack and Pack rules. This a very expected characterization of the werewolves and hunters (vampires) in this saga. There is a book three. I may need to read it to see how the war turns out.
This author gambles on the goddess in this tale and won, normally in most stories about werewolves their goddess is named Luna not this story. She is a piece of work.
Author Tigris Eden had me going there for a second then all started to fall in line and the game one won as the goddess saw fit.
I gave this book 4 stars because i liked it but disnt love it. I was confused at first to what was going on. And didn't really like where the story was going. Until... I figured out it was all a test. The events didn't really happen. Then I was ok with that. Dont get me wrong the story line was fast paced and had all kinds of drama in the midst. The biggest thing I got out of this was the fact the Goddess thought her worthy. Who you ask? Read and find out. The book is worth the read.
Fast pace action, suspense and romance all wrapped up in a paranormal read. Basically my kind of book. And I finally found out what happened between Neri and Vic.Tigris Eden is fast becoming a favorite author to me. She’s good at her story weaving she managed to send me on a roller coaster ride throughout this book and I enjoyed that ride. I most definitely recommend that you read this book after reading Arctic Bound otherwise you’ll be really confused as to what’s happening. Take your time while reading them and savor the stories and enjoy the ride.
Interesting short.... Nerina and Victor have to go thru trials in order to become true mates... They are told the trials are yet to come, but are actually thrown in them without their knowledge. Both have their own hurdles to jump and if they both make it, they will be mated. Quick read... very enjoyable.
Please note I intend no rating. If you see 1 star, this is GOODREADS GLITCH! Read on EVERAND audio(70 page novella felt much longer to listen)no longer available on Amazon. Intense fated mate scenario\challenge. Luna is hybrid creature. I was confused but I did doze off a couple of times and or perhaps as it is part of a series in which there are books I should have read earlier
Second book to the first of The hunter turned wolf meaning a hybrid known to be mated and give through the reaping to be the Luna of her mate Victor to be Alpha. A series of tests or she will die by the pack
The is the most fascinating series I have read lately. I couldn't put it down and kept ongoing through the night. Can't wait to read the next book but first a bit of housework needs doing!!! Keep up the excellent writing Tigris I'm waiting not so patiently.
This book kept your interest and wasn’t long winded. I’m looking forward to others. Although could have done without the ending’s descriptive sex. If the author was looking for a rating for that it wasn’t necessary!
This is a great fast paced novella. I didn't realize until after I read it that it was a 1.5 and not a prequel. I can't wait to see what this series has in store!
I went in totally blind, not knowing what to expect. I was hooked right away. This world is so fascinating and now I need to go back and see where it all began.
Very good, a tad too short for me, but a must read in this series. Held my interest all the way, but found it difficult to keep a track of all the mythology characters
*Since I did the editing on this work, I cannot speak of any errors I may have or may not have found*
It's time for The Reaping! Victor and Nerina are excited to finally be able to do the ritual and be together in a way the packs can't argue with. However, The Reaping isn't fun and games. Victor must survive three trials to get his female. And while he's doing that, the goddess Selene has decided that Nerina will be more than simply Luna of Pack Canidae.
This book is short and to the point, a beautiful bridge between Arctic Bound and Dire Cravings if I do say so myself. The Reaping pretty much finishes up what fans were waiting for when Arctic Bound ended, and it hints at even more trouble for our favorite wolf pack in the next book.
The sex is sparse.. to be fair it's about non existence. There's only one sex scene, but with the Trials going on, the reader won't even notice, or care about the bestial love-making that Victor and Nerina are known for.
What this novella doesn't lack in, is action. From page one there's something going. This book is a bit more fast paced than Arctic Bound was, but at the same time the story isn't rushed. As stated it's the perfect bridge between book 1 and book 2.
This is a quick read, less than 25k words, so it shouldn't take more than a few hours to leave, and if you're a fan of Tigris Eden, you'll be begging for more when you get done.
I look forward to the next installment of this series.
When Nero came to live in a small town of forebears, she was made to feel unwanted. She was an outsider. She and Victor hated each other. One of her dogs got loose and she left her cabin to catch him. She was unaware of the severe snow storm headed her way. A Real bear caught her and sliced her stomach until she was almost dead. Victor, in his bear form , found her and took her to a cave since he couldn't get her to her cabin in time. To keep her alive, he gave her some of his healing blood. Not only did he save her life, his blood healed the bear's slashes, but also her burn scars. The storm was to last almost five days and they couldn't deny their lust any longer. They both knew they would never be that way again once they left the cave. Please re as this book to find out what happens next. Enjoy!
The Reaping was a great read. The pack is against Victor and Nerina being together because Nerina is a hunter and Victor is their leader; but hunters and wolves don't mix. However, despite that Victor and Nerina is determined to make their relationship work even if Nerina cant bear him any pups. The Reaping is approaching and the couple has another challenge to face, hopefully they can both make it out alive and the pack will learn to accept Nerina. Selene (the goddess) has plans of her own and is willing to give Nerina something she desperately wants if she can make it out alive. When it comes to love between this couple you risk it all for love, or you die trying. This was a great paranormal read and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I downloaded The Reaping as a free novella from Amazon. The story was downright confusing. I get it-- there were trials to pass. Unfortunately, while reading, I felt as if I were untangling a huge ball of string. For the significance of some things which happened, a novella may not have been the best presentation. "Dream" and reality were so blended, it was impossible to tell what was really going on. I loved Arctic Bound, so I would definitely read the next (full length) novel in the series, but it remains to be seen if this novella was necessary to the storyline, or if the recap in the next book could have kept the reader informed enough. It's free, so no harm, no foul-- others may actually enjoy the surreal quality. Me? Maybe I'll try again in a few weeks after a glass of wine.
