Mind Games: A Sam Smith Mystery

Rate this book
Mind Games, book 11 in the Sam Smith Mystery Series. Each book in the series contains a complete story and can be listened to as a stand-alone. Each story contains approximately 50,000 words.

A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Sasha Pryce, a teenage chess prodigy, presented me with a problem. She wanted me to track down Steve Chapin, her coaching assistant. Steve had mysteriously disappeared, leaving no clue as to his whereabouts. However, Sasha insisted that I should follow her strict instructions - her father, eminent pharmacologist Professor Christian Pryce, must not learn of my investigation.

Meanwhile, Professor Pryce had hired a handsome bodyguard, Blake, to protect Sasha. For what reason? She had no idea. And to complicate matters further, Blake decided to cast a lascivious eye over my romance-shy friend and assistant, Faye Collister.

Mind Games, a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma; an exploration of the many aspects of love.

Having read others in this series, I knew I would enjoy this story and I was right. I love the way we follow Sam's life and how she battles with her past - Alan is the perfect foil.

Mind Games sees Sam called in to find...no spoilers, however, this book delves into the choices we make and their consequences. Human behaviour is always a theme in this series - why do people act as they do? And not everything is as it seems.

Faye is a fascinating character and it will be interesting to sees what happens.

I like how important issues are explored, such as abuse (on more than one level). There is also good humour and some great tongue-in-cheek moments.

These are quick reads because the writing is brilliant - a quick and easy flow of words and yet deeply meaningful. This snapshots of history are also good.

Loved it!

Highly recommended.

Sam's life has finally settled down and she's more sure of herself. Now she's out to bring that peace of mind to her clients, while allowing them the chance to make up their own mind about their choices. A chess move won't be the hardest thing Sam's client Sasha has to make when the young man she loves disappears. Hannah Howe captivates her audience with romps through Wales and insights into the human mind and emotions. Her books make you think about the fine edges between right and wrong. It's always a delight to read the adventures of Sam Smith.

Great series

The thrills continue as Sam looks for a missing person. This simple task turns from missing person to genealogy to blackmail with currents of romance mixed in. Great read and wonderful series.
