Jack Raines, a former Marine, and his lifelong friends Ethan, Ben, and Tommy, head into the Pacific Northwest for their traditional annual hunt for whitetail deer. However, the tables turn dramatically when they encounter a massive Sasquatch deep in the woods. Now fighting for their lives, the group is pushed to their limits to make sure this isn't their final hunt. As the hunted, they face a brutal struggle to survive, desperately trying to outsmart and escape their formidable pursuer.
I went into this book with fairly low expectations, but it ended up being a wonderful surprise. The author's descriptions were so vivid that I often felt as if I were right there in the story, watching everything unfold.
What truly caught me, though, was the main character. I grew genuinely attached to him and found myself hoping - almost pleading - that he would survive. At one point, I even paused the audiobook because I wasn't sure I wanted to hear the details of his death. That level of emotional investment is rare for me and speaks volumes about the author's storytelling.
I enjoyed this book so much that I went on to purchase the entire eight-book series, which is something I very rarely do. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable read, far exceeding my expectations, and I'm very glad I gave it a chance.
Excellent read. He was so sad. She wanted to cry. With the government coming in and taking over and the threats and the agony he went through because he didn’t tell the truth or I should say he couldn’t tell the truth to the families, but a heavy weight on someone soul.
Very well written. Great story, excellent descriptions, almost poetic, of the natural surroundings, superbly crafted. Just when you think its the end here comes the epilogue! I couldn't put this book down.
