After work, Hannah decides to stop by a local mini-mart to pick up some lottery tickets and a snack. Unfortunately, her timing was less than ideal. Shortly after entering the mini-mart, a masked man entered and pointed a gun at the teller and yelled for her to empty the register. He wanted some quick money to buy drugs, but his timing was also terrible. While he is inside the store, a police officer unexpectedly arrives to fill his car with gas. Seeing the robber with the gun, he immediately changes his mind about getting gas. The robber started to leave, but upon seeing the policeman, he changes his mind and re-enters the mini-mart. The robber decides to use Sheila as a shield. Then sees Hannah and has her sit on the floor by the counter, so he now has two hostages.
Will the police be able to disarm the robber? Will the hostages be injured? Will anybody die as a result of the situation?
Meredith Potts has an edge-of-your-seat story in this latest Tiny House Mystery. There are wonderful characters with realistic situations. This is the only Meredith Potts story I have ever read with a cliffhanger at the end.
Tiny House, Big Trouble earns 5/5 Lottery Tickets!
Wrong place, wrong time is the definition of bad luck, and too often a negative by-product of Hannah being a private detective, but she just went to the corner store for a snack to take home when a masked man armed with a gun demanded “Empty the register!” But, it didn’t end quietly…A cop just happened to arrive at that moment. The gunman decided to retreat, than fight. And Hannah and the young clerk, Sheila Riverton, are hostages surrounded by an army of police.
A Few Hours Before…Hannah, and her boss Ryan, struggle with the usual reactions to their findings; shock, devastation, and anger don’t make for a rewarding day in the life of a PI. Daphne struggles with the age-old dilemma to find a balance between her career as a television reporter, one she’s worked hard to get, and the love life she has finally found with Mike. Tyler’s first struggle of the day is dealing with Kristina, the local donut pusher, playing matchmaker between him and Hannah, even his older sister makes a big deal about him finding someone, but right now, the life of a detective is more guns than roses. Sheila struggles with her roommate’s boyfriend eating her last croissant, a co-worker raving about vacation she herself haven’t had, and a boss expecting her to smile...all day long. Craig O’Malley is a powder keg struggling with an ex-wife demanding the child support yet to arrive, a near empty bank account, a landlord threatening eviction, no drugs to be found, and family refuses to help.
Everyone collides at the Everly Street Gas Station negotiating with a desperate man whose “in quickly and out with the money” plan has ended in a stand-off with the police. Cleverly organized with before, during, and after insights into the characters’ mindset, fears, and hopes to make it out alive. Desperate. Deadlines. Daring.
Disclosure: I purchased the book set that included books 1-3, but I wanted to share my thought about the individual book, too.
4.5 Star review Tiny House, Big Trouble (Southern Midlife Treasure Trove Cozy Mystery #3) by M Z Potts & Meredith Potts
Audio Review:
This was an entertaining addition to the series. I found the story captivating and although it is not a long book to listen to, I was hooked. Tiny House, Big Trouble was a good cozy mystery with suspense, intrigue and enough clues to satisfy my amateur detective heart.
Have you ever been in the right place but at the wrong time? That’s what happens to private detective Hannah when she finds herself in the midst of a robbery at the Everly Street Gas Station. Could Hannah’s recent run of good luck be about to run out?
When her detective friend Tyler arrives to find out she is one of the hostages the pressure builds. It clarifies feelings between Hannah and Tyler and made for an entertaining journey. Of course adding to my enjoyment, Daphne, Hannah’s best friend makes an appearance as does her boss Ryan, both secondary characters that I love. This is a well written story that kept my attention. Narrator Stephanie Quinn did a good job, and I enjoyed her performance. Be prepared that this one ends in a cliff hanger I hope we don’t have to wait too long to see how things are progressing in Treasure Trove.
This was my favorite of the three. There was also a rather long Author’s Note at the end where Potts explained her writing style and the difficulties that go along with penning. Potts mentioned she thought about killing off one of the characters and how that is sometimes difficult because she becomes too close to her characters to let them go.
In this read, Hannah was in a hostage situation in this read. Different feelings and life changers of everyone involved were discovered: Hannah thought about what her feelings are toward the local Detective; Daphne discovered she needs to make some new decisions regarding her career and her new beau; Tyler thought about Hannah…
We were left with a cliffhanger in this one! Hopefully the 4th book will be released sooner than later, because I’m excited about seeing how Tyler and Hannah are doing and how Daphne and Mike are.
Since this series by Potts is done for now, I have chosen to read book 23 of A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery series by Tonya Kappes. Title: “Santa, Sunrises & Suspicions”. And, yes, I have read the previous 22 and actually I read the 24th book without realizing I skipped over book 23!
Tiny House, Big Trouble by MZ Potts is a delightful little cozy. The 3rd book in a series continues with our beloved main character Hannah finding herself in grave danger again. A quick stop at her local mini mart turns into a life or death situation. Will her neighbor/law enforcement officer/boyfriend? be able to save her? Told in various POV’s you get to see what each main character is doing and thinking. I think that gives the reader a much better insight into the minds of each character. I really enjoyed the authors blurb at the end of the book. It nice to see the personal side of her. I received this as an ARC from the author and would like to thank her for the opportunity to read this thrilling continuation of the series. I can’t wait for #4 to come out.
M.Z. Potts is a fabulous cozey mystery writer that has out done herself in this mystery. Can you imagine being caught in the middle of a store robbery, well Hannah the mane character has found herself in just that situation. Ms.Potts always brings to life bold vibrant and colorful characters with a well written story behind or surrounding one mane character but this cozey mystery is told through five different characters situations throughout the same eventual time and it has brought a whole new flavor to her usual cozey mysterys, so acquire "Tiny House Big Trouble " today for hours of enticing entertainment you won't want to miss.😀 Kat
I was intrigued as I read this book as it reads as an investigative story. Not only is it told from the standpoint of each main character but it covers what happens before a hostage situation in a convenience store robbery, during the standoff and the after effects of the conclusion of the situation. It was so real life that I so admire the author’s writing in being able to project the various feelings of the characters throughout the story. It is a quick read but they this is one of a series of books. I received an ARC from the author; this is my honest review.
A welcomed cozy read that was quite different from others I've read. I like how the author went back in time with each character to before the main incident in the book and let us get inside their heads.
I loved the quirkiness of Hannah & Daphne. The scenes were intense, the characters interesting and with lots of humor thrown in at times. The storyline read like an investigative story. My only negative is ending it with a "cliff hanger."
I received an arc from the author and willingly choose to review it.
Hannah is just going to make a quick trip to the convenience store when her day takes a serious curve into danger. It’s interesting the way the back story is filled in for each of the participants in this traumatic event and how each character is impacted by it.
M.Z. Potts is on a roll with this fun series! There is enough drama, romance, and a serious taste of danger to make this a very enjoyable read. I received a review copy but my review is honest and voluntary.
Tiny House, Big Trouble (Southern Midlife Treasure Trove Cozy Mystery #3) was a great read by M.Z. Potts. Hannah was inside the corner store for less than a minute before a masked man entered the front door carrying a gun. He went right to the counter where a short and thin woman was behind the register. The armed assailant pointed a pistol and robbed the store. Sheila just froze in fear. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
Oh my gosh, how a series of events can impact you. In this story, Hannah and a convenience store attendant are held hostage. I really enjoyed how this has parts that lead up to the incident for each of the participants and then how the story played out.
I can’t wait to find out what happens in the 4th story
A lot is going on in this book. Many ups & downs. The book is unique in that it switches the point of view between all the characters involved in the main plot. There is a cliffhanger at the end that make you want to rush to get the next book to see what’s going to happen next.
Reading this story makes you really start to listen to all the crime happening around us. Unfortunately, crime doesn't have any stipulations concerning who does or does not get picked to be the person or persons chosen! This story really makes you take stock of the things you do daily. Its a bit scary to say the least.

Another drama, danger and romance filled story to keep you intrigued once again. There’s no stopping until you get to the end. Loved everything about the characters and the interaction. Don’t miss out once it’s released.
Thank God I don't buy lottery tickets! This books was crazy! Hannah goes to buy their lottery tickets and ends up becoming a hostage at the gas station. Tyler and Hannah both have regrets of not telling the other how they felt. They both hope they still get the chance to do so.
If you ever wondered what it felt like to be in a hostage situation – from all angles-, this is the book to read!!! I enjoyed this story and recommend the book.
It's a great read. The plot is really good, the characters believable, and the outcome very satisfying. I especially enjoyed it because of its no murder aspect!
Another great cozy with an intense storyline. Hannah is now a hostage. Tyler realizes how he feels about her. the storyline is believable. I recommend this book.
Whew this was intense! Great storyline , I liked how the story reflected on the before/ during and after of the events of the gas station hold up hannah was involved in .
I enjoyed this story. It was different that the other two in this series, no real mystery to solve. Hannah found herself in a situation that could go one of two ways, and she had a chance to realize what was important. Those in her life also had the chance to figure out what matters. There was a bit of a hint at the next story at the end. I also liked the "ramblings" of the author on the writing of this story.
I received an ARC, and this is my unsolicited review.
When given a chance, I enjoy listening to audiobooks. I love listening to Stephanie Quinn as she brings these characters to life. With the change in tempo of the story, she brought more feeling into the narration, especially due to the more serious nature.
With more than 125 reads from author Meredith Potts/KM Morgan/Amelia Morgan, I welcomed the chance to read Tiny House, Big Trouble (Southern Midlife Treasure Trove Cozy Mystery Book 3). So when I got the chance to re-read/listen to the Audible edition I again jumped at it. Longer, at 3-hours 25-minutes/177 pages, than many of the author's books I've read in her other nom de plo͞oms never-the-less well-written & enjoyable. not just another cute, clean cozy mystery she's continuing to lay the groundwork for perhaps her best character & series to date. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
