The Wrong Bride (contemporary romance)

Masquerading as her twin during her sister's wedding rehearsal is almost too much for Jessica Parks. Shy and innocent, Jessica isn't sure about pretending to be her brazen sister, but she's more worried that the deception puts her squarely in the path of Devlin Hunter, the fiancé.

Cold, ruthless and destructive, Devlin is marrying for business reasons only. To her shame, Jessica is intensely attracted to her sister's arranged fiancé. She believes that Devlin only needs someone to love -- and love him back -- to bring out the best in him. But she'll never know. Once the wedding rehearsal is over, she will switch places with her twin and stay away from Devlin.

That's Jessica's plan until she finds herself nervously walking down the aisle in her sister's wedding dress to meet Devlin at the altar… and being swept up in his arms as he carries her into the honeymoon suite. Does she continue the charade or does she let her dangerously powerful husband find out that he has the wrong bride?

Loved this book

Just a romance Harlequin style. I liked the hero from the beginning and knew that he was a good man. I liked how he knew from the start she wasn't the right twin, or should I say, was the right twin. I liked his sense of humor with her and how he wanted to protect her. I wasn't sure about her twin and there were a couple of surprises along the way. The ending was wonderful. And the heat was actually incredibly hot and romantic and made me swoon. It wasn't just sex. I really loved it.

I really loved the plot of this story ..... Jessica was a sweetheart but kind of a doormat (which I can relate to). Her sister Tracy I just didn't care for or their mother ....liked them by the end though.... Devilin I loved .... but I also felt he needed loved.....great story line ....but a lot of grammatical errors .... it drove me bananas but not enough to stop reading it ..... enjoy reading it

In contrary to the other few reviewers, I couldn’t finish this one. First, the pace wasn’t snail slow but it felt so. Nearly halfway through the book, eighty pages in and MC weren’t even married yet! Comically, those long pages briefly covers the opening scene of one wedding rehearsal including dinner and what’s not, one actual church wedding and then finally one more! A Las Vegas elopement! Hero at last confront Jessica, our heroine, after the false church nuptials that she ain’t really Tracy! So, now, he gotta steal her away to the adjacent of gretna green to forced her hand legally! Mind you, at this point, everything was so anticlimax and draggy! There was no suspense, no angst, no chemistry, what so ever. Just plain dry and repetitive!

Going back to the opening scene real quick, we already have the hero aware of the charade obviously. Among other stupid slip-ups, he noted that the twin before him didn’t have her ears pierced, while his intended bride in fact has hers pierced. He had gave Tracy earrings before which she wore the expensive pearls often. Soon, that line of thoughts was repeated to Jessica. How he knew she wasn’t Tracy because of her hole-less ears. Not to (re)mentioned he once gave Tracy earrings, etc…gawd, the unnecessary repeats!
For best climatic sake, I rather have the author omitted the initial scene going about the earrings and merely have hero drop the bombshell on Jessica on their wedding night to best create a big ol’ climax scene. No pun intended…

I think for those reasons, I never felt they have chemistry in the first place. The execution was stilted. Jessica, our heroine, didn’t appear vulnerable in my reading experience. She was flat, had no personality and was prone to arguing with him for stupid stuff. I thought she was only faking a tough shell to pass as Tracy at the rehearsal——- I thought Jessica’s true self was affable and innocent. Nah, homegirl is a cranky mouth.

More fun than expected

I grabbed this book because I live Susanna Carr’s writing but wasn’t overly optimistic. I was happily surprised. The premise is a bit much and not very plausible, but that really didn’t matter. It was so fun to read and try to guess what would happen next that I couldn’t put it down. This is why I adore Susanna Carr’s writing.

Compelling characters with satisfying relationship development, surrounded by some truly twisted people with really melodramatic reasons for their machinations. Entertaining.

Bonus short story (The Sister Switch): More to-the-point. I liked getting that point of view.

(Other than the three jarring (to me) typos, it was very clean copy.)
