Regency Seasons #2

By Any Other Name: Regency Seasons Novellas, Book 2

Rate this book
Lady Philippa Casemore caused quite a scene at her very first ball of her very first season. She even landed herself, somehow, on the pages of the infamous betting book at White's gentleman's club. Unfortunately, she doesn't remember one moment of the night in question. Not the music. Not the notorious rake she'd dragged into the middle of the dance floor. Not the flask of opium-laced brandy she'd downed without realizing it's contents...

Jason York, the wicked Earl of St. Austell, can't quite forget the lady who stole his breath away the previous night. Of course, his broken nose, courtesy of the girl's brother, did have a way of making an impression. When he stumbles into Lady Philippa the next day, his ego is more than bruised when she doesn't seem to recall him at all and a scheme to make certain she never forgets him again quickly forms in Jason's mind.

Another cute story by Ava Stone. About a rake who lied about who he was when Jason met Pippa the day after waltzing with her and she didn't remember him because she was so drunk.

The two were a great couple but, again, as in the first book, I got the impression she was about 18 and he was somewhere around 30. It was Pippa's first week of her first season and she was gathered with a few friends and they were giggling like school girls. If you're going to make an age difference you really shouldn't make the hero a seasoned rake and her a giggler.

I did like Berks and Harry, Pippa's brothers. They couldn't seen to keep from punching Jason in the face, and that was kind of funny.

It didn't have any sex but Jason's cock was mentioned twice. And there was no swearing at all.

A wonderful quick read! I was hooked from the start with her brother's banging on her door. The moment they saw each other again it was an instant spark. I really liked how she found out about his scheme because it was different from most. You have to love her brothers because they wanted her happy even if they weren't happy with the choice.

Pippa knows her own mind and when she sets her mind to something there's no stopping her. I loved her right away because she didn't hide from anything and didn't hold a grudge. She was not afraid to tell her brothers what she wanted.

Jason had a reputation that he didn't hide, but the real him came out as soon as his friend talked to him. He can instantly charm anyone, but he knows there's a line he can't cross. I loved when he kept thinking about what his friend said.

This book started off promising and I loved the interaction in the park.
Something that bothered me throughout the book was how he kept calling her sweetheart like no don't call her that, I would rather he use her name.
I really loved Pippa's brothers throughout this whole book and I can't wait to read their stories. I love how they are protective but it is because they want to protect her and ensure her happiness.
Also, thank you Heath for talking some sense into Jason, thank you thank you. And his wife is just wonderful.
Something that was slightly annoying was how fast they fell in love. It was like the span of a week or two which is so unrealistic. And she forgave him quite quickly which I can kind of understand.
Overall, this book was a nice read.

lively and entertaining

Loved this short story. It was fast paced and humorous. Loved the characters. There were a lot of typos but they didn’t detract too much from the story. The dialogue was amusing and entertaining. Thank you for a very enjoyable read.

Beware a wolf in sheep's clothing

Oh Pippa! She drank some brandy to loosen her nerves before her very first ball. It was laced with opium, and she drank the entire flask. Is it any wonder that she can't remember a thing? Like grabbing the biggest rake in all the land and dragging him onto the dance floor. For a waltz, no less. Things can only go downhill from there, and they do.

This is a delightful farce that had me rooting for the wolf.

Admittedly, it took me a while to get the title, and I feel silly for it now...

Okay, so I'm a sucker for romantic blackout stories. I love them and I have read them in various fashions. This one is as well, or even better, done as many others. And I did like his redemption ark - if you can call it that in so short a story - with all he goes through to deserve her in the end. It was quite original in this sea of similar stories.
