I used to love this series but each book is getting progressively worse. It screams I HAVE A DEADLINE. It’s rushed and not well thought out or executed. There are also a lot more punctuation errors. The writer also mistakes onboard and aboard when speaking of characters that are OFF the ship which could cause the plot to be harder to follow. …. The gang just started exploring their beach excursions but now Emma is looking for crew members who have “come aboard as well” doesn’t make sense. Please start taking your time!

The concept of this book was good and I overall enjoyed it. But I feel as the series goes on, the writing and editing is getting worse. I noticed a lot of grammar mistakes, random letters added, etc.

I love this series, and the characters are fantastic. I found this book to be a bit off. Although Sam has complete confidence in his wife’s abilities to protect herself, it’s unlikely he would have been okay with her wandering and investigating the happenings on the boat by herself. He’s aware of someone watching her, and the dangers involved. The reality of her being physically able to enjoy DisneyWorld the day after fighting off two men is unrealistic. Also, if I were Eric and Bellamy, I would have been all kinds of angry at Emma for getting involved. Yes, they told her they understood, but really!?
When returning home, they find a mystery box on their doorstep. Who left it? Why not check the cameras Sam installed in the last book?
I look forward to the next book in the series, and hope some questions are answered.

Disappointed

I thought this was a good book, not one of my favorites. I felt like the book was only 75% finished. There were several mysteries but nothing solved. I have read everything by this author, and know how there are continued stories from book to book. What happened on the cruise ship was never solved and they all just walked away. That doesn't sound like Emma to me. They just go to a theme park. I am very disappointed.

Well, even if Emma is an amazing FBI agent, I guess she needs to accept that she is also human and needs to have a back up when investigating dangerous situations, specifically when she has already been attacked instead of going at it alone. It was disappointing to see Sam not pushing more to be by Emma's side.

Read 2024 - I'd give this 3.5 stars.

Emma, Sam, Bellamy, Eric, Bebe. Xavier, Dean, Cupcake (Xavier's friend), Owen (Dean's son), and Vance (Dean's friend) all go on a cruise to continue Bellamy and Eric getting married. While on the cruise in the first day or two, a member of the cleaning crew goes missing. Then a man is found dead having a 'tragic accident' but Emma knows it was murder, then another man is found murdered by 2 gunshot wounds to his face. Emma jumps right into the woman's disappearance and the men's death. She is supposed to be on vacation but cannot ignore when something very fishy is going on this cruise ship and everyone is ignoring it.

It turns out that the two men there were killed were actually private investigators who were onboard investigating the woman who later goes missing. She is a wanted fugitive using a fake name onboard. They are also there investigating another wanted fugitive under a fake name that went 'missing' a couple months before on the exact same cruise. But the PIs are both killed. The "missing" man and woman (the wanted fugitives) are not found and Emma is attacked more than once for trying to solve this case. It's part of a bigger (possible trafficking) ring. By the end, Emma apprehends two men from the ring after they try to kill Emma and she pieces together who on board is helping this ring.

After the cruise was basically ruined for the group after this case - they decide to spend a couple days in Disney World to finish celebrating Bellamy and Eric. And Emma's stalker is back, they send her a box full of pictures of her from the last year including pictures of her at Disney just a couple days prior.

The wasn't a bad read. I didn't expect the missing woman from the beginning to actually be a part of everything but there are a lot of questions about the case from the cruise by the end that go unanswered, and I'm slightly confused. This story isn't as gripping as others in this series and I was annoyed that Emma inserted herself into the investigation instead of letting the whole group enjoy their vacation but I understand it's in her blood and who she is.

I’m so confused, out of nowhere (because it was in a spinoff series about dean?!) there are just suddenly people she’s mentioning and he has a son and who are these people?! There’s no explanation at all. I thought I skipped too far ahead and was reading the wrong book but nope just didn’t read a spin off series I didn’t know about

Not surprisingly, this is another action-packed mystery, and readers are left with quite the cliffhanger! Emma et al, are to celebrate the wedding of Bellamy and Eric on a cruise. It turns out to be anything but fun and relaxing. The troubles even start before the trip does. As usual, the whole gang is back, and there are a few returning characters. The story is unique and well written. The characters are well developed, and we have gotten to know them throughout the entire series. You could read this as a stand alone but you would miss out on the ongoing parts that have been through some or all of the books, as well as the cliffhanger ending. It just makes you look forward to the next and final book in the series.

Hard to not notice editing mistakes

The editor of the series should be reconsidered. The book is good, but I find myself skipping pages because of the repetitiveness of previous stories, which is fine, but people reading the series don’t need the full back story of what happened…perhaps just a reference. And this book brought in three new characters and I had to google to see if I missed a book and who they were. Annoying.

But this particular book had several mistakes in the editing, and towards the end of the book was the completely wrong name of Sam’s cousin…it’s Marie not Missy. I’m deep in the series and enjoy Emma’s story so I can’t stop now, but I’ll be taking a break after this one for a while.

Another good read

Much of the book was very enjoyable and interesting. Ending was not entirely predictable but also not expected or satisfying. The usual lead-in to the next book, which is great, but I leave this episode wishing there could have been a far more interesting, perhaps darker and definitely more complete conclusion to what was happening on the ship. This was perhaps very realistic but less fascinating than previous books by this author. Just felt like she rushed to end the story without giving us a complete or satisfying conclusion.

Who knew so many things could happen on a cruise?

I guess that there are bad people and bad things that happen in every business. On a honeymoon cruise for friends, an FBI agent comes across a woman who disappears only a day later. A couple months before a man disappears on the same ship with the same crew and some of the same passengers. Next, two male passengers are found dead . Then the FBI agent has the murderer come after her. It pays to be careful on a cruise where everyone is a stranger.

Excellent!

AJ Rivers is a master storyteller, and she's done it again with The Girl In Her Cabin. To celebrate Eric & Bellamy's nuptials, the whole crew takes a cruise. But things quickly go awry when a lady that Emma briefly talks to goes missing. As other incidents happen, Emma realizes there's more to the big picture than she first thought. Follow Emma and the crew as they explore Caribbean waters by day and investigate crimes at night.

The Girl In Her Cabin(Emma Griffin FBI Mystery Book 27)

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! This book was so worth the wait. Eric and Bellamy are finally married. They are going on a cruise for their honeymoon, and are taking their closest friends. Everything is going well on the cruise and then a member of the staff goes missing, then all Heck, brakes out. There are so many things going on, you will have to read it to find out. But it will hook you and not let you put it down.

Your Books

Emma is supposed to go on vacation to get away from her work and relax and enjoy herself. Somebody goes missing on board. She can’t help it she wants to be involved. Sam is upset he says you are supposed to be on vacation let them do the investigation. She agrees at first. Then two deaths occur now she is involved. And Sam has a chance to be a mayor. Love your mysteries! Thank you.

SERIES BEST, again

It seems like each book gets better and better. I’m getting a bit annoyed that we don’t have all of the answers at the end of each book - but I guess that’s the point of a series. This book has numerous twists and turns, that not only impact this story, but I’m sure carry forward into the following books.

Back home

I've been away from reading Emma Griffin's series for a while, but reading this one was like coming home after a long trip. Added it to that is my history of many cruise ship voyages (more than twenty). This one was great but I think I'll be a little more aware of my surroundings on my next cruise.

This series is still going strong!

After 27 books this series still delivers the suspense and intrigue. Plus, the characters are like family now. Although, I hope Emma catches a break soon. She needs a vacation.

yikes!

Criminal conspiracy involving cruise ships - who’d have thought it!

The Emma enclave embarks on a luxury cruise to celebrate the long-awaited honeymoon of the newlyweds, but, of course, things go off the rails quickly.

Blown away by this one

Wow, this one was complicated. It was nice to have the whole gang together in one place having a good time. Emma is such a bad@ss, fighting 2 at once. And what a cliffhanger!

a very enjoyable read!

The story moved along quickly with good characters and a lot of fun and exciting action. I love books like these that don’t have extensive descriptions going on but still make the characters easy to understand

Nice suspense book

I enjoy AJ River books. This one was full of suspense and really kept my attention. Emma is on a cruise with friends when people go missing and others are murdered. She tries to enjoy her vacation but ends up getting involved in the investigation.

Great idea for new adventure

It's a nice change of pace to have the majority of the story line taking place in a completely different situation than the usual way. Same great characters, great mystery and action.
