Already ragged and on-edge due to the unrest in the area, Captain of the guard Kieran MacLeod feels obligated to keep the troubling woman from the future who appeared in the castle safe—not only from the bandits attacking but also from her own reckless behavior. He isn't used to dealing with someone so strong or independent, and Sarah refuses to listen to him or his warnings, which leads to heated arguments and even hotter attraction.
When those Kieran is hunting team up with the man Sarah chased through time, they find themselves working together to fight a common enemy that threatens the entire clan. I really enjoy the Highlander Across Time Series and this is another wonderful installment of the series. Sarah is on the hunt for a jewel thief and gets a lead that he might have stashed the goods at a castle in Scotland. She follows him through a door in Dunscaith Castle and they emerge in the past. The area is currently under attacks from bandits and Kieran, Captain of the Guard, feels compelled to keep her safe. Sarah is determined to catch her thief and keep him from causing trouble for the MacLeods. She is tenacious and stubborn in her quest which creates tension and scorching arguments between her and Kieran. As passionate she is about catching her thief, Kieran is about keeping her safe...even if it is from herself!
It is a great story with fabulous, well written characters. As with the other Highlander Across Time books, it flows right from the start and once you start you want to keep going until you are finished. I enjoy getting lost in a good time travel romance and Rebecca Preston does not disappoint.
Loved it! Sarah, a Boston detective, was chasing a jewel thief through castle ruins in Scotland, when they both pass through a small magical door and end up in the Sixteenth Century......making Sarah the fourth American woman to travel back in time and appear there. She and Kieran, the Captain of the Guard, clash multiple times over her need to capture Damon DeBeers, the murderous jewel thief from the future. Kieran has been kept busy leading patrols as he desparately tries to keep the villagers safe from the ever increasing bandit attacks. Of course Sarah and Kieran begin to fall for each other despite the unresolved issue of bringing DeBeers to justice. So there’s the attraction, the conflict and the tee up for a major confrontation. This story flows easily, captures your attention, keeps your interest, and gives you a fiesty heroine and a droolworthy hero. What can be better than that?

Rebecca Preston has hooked me on the whole time travel genre with both her Highlander In Time series and this series Highlander Forever. This addition is about Sarah Elway, Boston PI and Kieran MacLeod, Captain of the Guard. While Sarah is chasing a murderous jewel thief, when they both go through the doorway in the ruins of MacLeod castle, and go back to medieval Scotland. There she runs into Kieran and demands he detain the thief, With no evidence to hold him, he is released and Sarah is furious. But Kieran has bigger problems. The countryside around the castle on the Isle of Skye is being plagued by thieves and robbers. How these two maneuver their budding relationship between a 21st century woman and a 16th century man is well worth the read. Interesting characters, compelling storyline, and well paced, this steamy read was a great addition to the series.

I love time travel. Sarah is after a murdering jewel thief and chased him and follows him through a door and they end up hundreds of years in the past. Kieran wants to keep her safe but she is feisty. When the people that Kieran is after team up with the jewel thief, she must help. Kieran and Sarah have an attraction to each other but they butt heads. This is a wonderful story and I really liked how Kieran dealt with all of this. Sarah will she try to go back to her time or is her heart here. This is a richly told tale with wonderful characters. This is a must read if you like time travel.

I do not understand why you did not include Hugh and Bran in your story. If Bran was the second in command then you would assume he would have been involved with protecting the castle and Hugh could have also been there and both could have gone on patrol. Yet they were never mentioned even when you wrote his short the captain was for warriors. Also you felled to mention in recap how many children and their sex of the Four women sent back in time. I like the epilogues that ties everything up, yet I was left hanging.
4.5 | Absolutely loved it story wise. Loved both the male and female leads I just would have liked to see Kieran’s side of things a little bit too. Like how he felt when he first had a confrontation with Sarah or when he first saw that note, etc. I feel like it would have added to his character and I would have felt more attachment. I liked him a lot already but would have liked to read about him a little more.
I so very much enjoyed this terrific book. Sarah is such an independent woman, it’s hard for her to let others do for her. Kieran works his way into your heart. I loved the characters, action, intrigue, drama, and passion. Couldn’t get enough of this book.

A good read for fans of time travel and/or highlander stories. Sarah is very much an independant woman of her times, so having to deal with 16th century Scottish standards is difficult. Kieran is a completely endearing character, doing his best. Action, intrigue and drama galore. Very enjoyable to read with a fluid style and great atention to detail.
Sarah was chasing a jewel thief and in the ruins of a castle they went through a small door that took them to the past. The thief Debeers was on the loose while Sarah trying to make a life in the castle with the the captain of the guard. With bandits and the jewel thief out and about between Sarah and Kieran they were finally taken care of.

This is a wonderful story of two stubborn people who eventually fall in love but it's fun to watch them get there . Both have strong personalities and that leads to some difficulties.

DNF’d @45% I enjoyed the previous books in this series, but I just couldn’t get over the FMC caring more about her “mark” than the fact that she time traveled to the past. I’m truly surprised at the reviews on this one being so favorable.
a really good story. Sarah goes back into 16th century and the adventure keeps giving. The imagination for these books is great. Can't wait for the next in series
I thought the DOOR was locked and could not open, did I miss something? Enjoyed the book, would have liked to hear the thoughts of the main male character.
I just love this series so far. The storyline and the characters are just perfect. This series has taken me on a world win adventure. Keep them coming.
