Quite possibly the worst book I’ve ever read.

I've tried to find something I liked to make this review less harsh, but the only thing I came up with was the running joke they had about a book. There's literally nothing else I enjoyed.

Let's break everything down, so you can understand my point, because I really don't want to be mean without providing any arguments.

Starting off strong - I hate Myles. Never before have I encountered a man in a romance novel with so many red flags and no personality. The power dynamic between him and Zara alone makes it difficult to ship them, but his behavior towards her was atrocious.
All he thinks about - and I mean that very literally - is having sex with her, from the very beginning to the very end. Every thought that's meant to be sweet, worried, angry, or whatever, is also infused with lusting after her and it's absolutely maddening and so objectifying it's offensive. I love yearning and I love spice, but this was unbearable. The woman looked like a mess at one point and was clearly going through something, but of course all he could focus on was how much he wants her physically. That's disgusting.
Ignoring all that - he behaved like a freaking cave man. The 'oh, but I can't, but I must, but I can't, but I must...' was annoying, yet the result of that was even worse. She ended up so scared of talking to him about anything because he could be so mean to her that in the end they had a conflict that couldn't be solved based on that. How am I supposed to ship a relationship in which the woman doesn't feel safe enough to communicate with someone she claims to be the love of her life? What the actual hell?
There's also the way he behaved towards his initial girlfriend (I don't care if she was a bad person or not, that's irrelevant, he chose to be with her), being extremely and openly possessive over someone he has no right to, not communicating properly ever at any point, only focusing on the FMC's physical attributes or ones that make her a good worker (or servant), and immediately groping her during their first kiss. He's just a creep.

Zara wasn't much better, fantasizing about her boss while being excited about her boyfriend possibly proposing. Also, god forbid she stands up for herself, ever. Better to run away. And at one point she says that heartbreak over Myles is worse than when her dear mother died. That was a horrible sentence to read. Mainly because that was like half-way through the book, so it wasn't even because of their final conflict, it was something much smaller.

Honestly, I feel like each of the characters in this book is a bunch of tropes in a tench coat pretending to be a person. We have a manly man who only thinks about getting some, a leading lady who's insecure but everyone's attracted to her, a mean-spirited sexy current/ex-girlfriend, and a bunch of stereotypical side characters (the gossip, the good friend with a nice husband and a kid, the cheating ex-boyfriend, etc.). Nobody has any real personality and as background information about the MMCs we get two traumatic episodes per person which have a small influence on them but only if they happen to remember about them in that particular moment. We learn practically nothing about them, and they learn practically nothing about each other. They claim to have this special connection between them but there's barely any actual meaningful dialogue and he's being a jerk most of the time. Their relationship is extremely superficial and that would be fine if it was meant to be read like that, but I know it's not since they claim it's true love.

I can't say anything about the writing style or desciptions of scenery because absolutely everything was tainted with insatiable lust or 'I can't, but I want to, but I can't, but I want to...'. I thought that maybe since we're thinking about it so much (too much, much too much), maybe the spice itself would be something I'd be into when we eventually get to it. It wasn't. She comes five times within like 10 minutes, nobody asks about protection or STDs, and the descriptions are lackluster.

Now, the 3rd act break-up. I thought this could be something. I thought we could get something meaningful and deeper as a consequence of the fall-out. Wrong. Again. After doing absolutely nothing about it for a while... they do absolutely nothing about it. I mean, yes, there's a HEA, but there is no explanation on either side. They just... get back together while still not communicating. Who needs communication if you can just boink, right? Afterall, real relationships are not about trust, vulnerability, emotional intimacy, sharing, knowing each other, talking or any of that crap. No, real relationships are exclusively about the horizontal tango (I'm running out of euphemisms).

And lastly - a thing which is funny but drove me insane by the end of the book - they only eat pastries, biscuits and some fruit throughout the whole thing. It's such a small detail, but once I've picked up the pattern, my brain couldn't let it go and I was audibly groaning with frustration every time they had a 'meal'. There's so much food you can write about, why go with pastries every freaking time?

This book was not for me, and I honestly don't know who it's for. Women who are into red flags and lack of respect as a love language? Fans of insatiable lust and no deeper conversations? If you enjoy it, good for you, I'm in no rush to shame anyone's preferences, but this is as far from mine as you can go.

I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to HarperCollins UK, the author and Netgalley for allowing me the privilege of being able to arc this book. I truly appreciate it.

I would like to start this by saying that if you've previously read 'Caught Inside' published almost 3 years ago by this author, than you probably will not need to read this book, as they are the exact same book, just now published as 'Catching Feelings'.

This was an okay book. It is most definitely a very quick read, very well suited as a summer read. Which is really the only reason next to the dual-pov that I'm giving this book the rating I have or it would be much lower. Zara apart from being really good at her job, comes off constantly as extremely childish, and constantly needs others to actually tell her what to do on a personal level, it sounds oxymoronic saying that and it is, but it's true. Myles is absolutely obsessed with screwing Zara and that honestly is the full extent of his contributions to this book. There is no chemistry between them, just this childish hyper instant sexual attraction. His super model ex "Big Red" drives me mental the most and not in the way you think. Her descriptions and some of her behaviour coupled with Myles last name of Brandon who owns his own self made big London business reminds me far too much of a pale and sad attempt to try and touch on the recenty passed Sophie Kinsella (Madeline Wickham) and her shopaholic series. Trust me big red sounds exactly like "Alicia Bitch Long-Legs" and this book pales in comparison to the legacy of Sophie Kinsella's. The similarities there are just a little too much for me, and that's truly the only thing that stood out for me with this book.

However on that note that's not the only issue I do take with this book. Nothing is truly descriptive. Trust me everyone is "attractive", using the same types of bland based statements. The scenery has no real description at all. It's actually almost childish in its writing, especially when you couple it with the fact that other than 1 instance with fruit, and 1 other random food mentioned. Literally all these characters eat and it's mentioned at least once a chapter is pastries and biscuits... And I don't mean this absolutely mouthwatering sounding delicacies that you wished you could have. No I literally mean pastries. He takes a bite, she takes a bite of a pastry..... Business meetings, breakfasts, lunches, snacks.... Pastries and chocolate biscuits.... No descriptions, no other foods just a pastry. It honestly was about as annoying as every single one of Myles thoughts being about Zara's body and what he wants to do to her. Which occurs at least once in every single one of his paragraphs in his parts. They have zero actual communication, they really barely know anything personal about the other, and they don't even try to either or really even talk about his business either. It's literally 90% internal monologue or observances. This book is 100% fluff through and through and I really really wished it had more substance like it seemed at first it was going too but nope, it is sexual fluff.

So if you're looking for a very sexual forward fluffy, utterly quick read for this summer, than I think you'll really love this.

Thank you so very much again to the publisher, the author and Netgalley for allowing me the privilege of being able to arc read this book. I truly appreciate it.

This was a quick, easy summer read that didn’t require too much attention, which was nice if you’re just looking for something light and escapist. The Morocco setting was definitely one of the highlights as it gave the book a fun holiday feel.

I liked Zara as a main character and found her pretty easy to root for. Unfortunately, Myles fell a bit flat for me. A lot of his perspective seemed focused on Zara’s physical appearance, and after a while it started to get a little repetitive and honestly got on my nerves a bit. I also found him kind of shallow at times.

Overall, it was enjoyable enough for a fast steamy holiday style romance, but not one I’d personally rave about or remember for very long.

Thank you to One More Chapter and HarperCollins for this ARC in return for honest feedback

Thank you Harpers Collins and One More Chapter for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Catching Feelings by Isadora Love was a fun, flirty workplace romance with gorgeous Morocco scenery and plenty of slow-burn tension. Zara and Myles had great chemistry, and I loved watching their professional boundaries slowly crumble during their trip to Marrakech. The setting added so much charm and atmosphere to the story. I only wish the ending had a little more emotional depth, but overall this was a sweet, entertaining read perfect for fans of boss/employee romance and vacation vibes.

This was a quick and easy destination romcom read. The characters and plot felt cliche. It had typical tropes like grumpy/sunshine and felt formulaic at times but I still enjoyed it. The FMC was likable and the story had decent pacing with just enough spice.

I really enjoyed this destination holiday romance. It's very different from anything that I have before and I really enjoyed it. The place settings in the story sounded beautiful and I loved Zara and Myles chemistry and I wanted them to have their happy ending. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other readers. I look forward to reading more by the author.

GENRE:
Contemporary Romcom
TROPES:
Workplace romance, forced proximity, jealous ex, destination travel (Morocco), slow-burn attraction

RECOMMENDED TO:
Readers who want a light, smutty beach read with exotic settings and don’t mind workplace dynamics being part of the tension.

✨ What worked:

Forced proximity trope delivers some fun banter and tension.
Easy, breezy pacing... perfect for a holiday read.

❌ What didn’t:
Heroine constantly described as “slender” ... distracting and repetitive.
Workplace power imbalance made the romance feel less comfortable.

Overall Impact:
This is the kind of book you toss in your beach bag: light, steamy, and escapist. But if you’re sensitive to workplace romance dynamics or repetitive physical descriptions, it may grate. For me, it was a pleasant but flawed read.

fun destination vibes, but the romance didn’t fully sweep me off my feet

This is definitely a steamy, easy summer read, and the chemistry between the characters is there—but overall, it just didn’t fully land for me. The biggest issue was how repetitive it felt. The constant back-and-forth of “this isn’t proper” and that overused “don’t s*it where you eat” mentality got old quickly. It felt like the same internal conflict was recycled over and over without much growth.

While the sparks were there, I never really connected with either of the main characters, which made it hard to stay invested in their story. I kept waiting to care more, but it never quite happened. I will say the setting in Morocco was new for me and it sounds like an amazing place to visit.

It seems like this is the start of a series, but I’m not particularly motivated to continue. Not a bad read—just one that could’ve used more depth and less repetition.

Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy to review. This is set to publish June 3.

My one major complaint about this book is that I wish I brought it on vacation with me because it's a great beach read. I really enjoyed this story and the Moroccan setting was great and I could picture the sun and sea while reading. The spicy scenes were hot and I love how they were trying to keep things professional and failing at it miserably. I'll say that Myles definitely got on my nerves several times throughout this book and I wish Zara stood up for herself a bit more. Enjoyable read.

Unfortunately, I did not like this book. Spoiler, but basically at the 73% mark, the boss tells his assistant that he is firing her, revoking the job position he was going to promote her to, all so that he could date her and not have her as his employee. And instead of being mad about that, she just went with it and jumped into his bed. Like what????

The whole work trip to Morocco + boss/employee thing was actually kinda fun. Zara trying to keep it professional but clearly failing made me laugh a few times 😭

It’s not super deep or anything, but I didn’t need it to be. Just vibes, tension, and a cute setting.

Some bits felt a bit predictable but I was still into it the whole time.

Steamy yet with a tenderness written into every scene, Catching Feelings is the perfect Summer read.
The characters are driven not just by passion but also by the desire to overcome their securities and past disappointments, which ground them and make their relationship’s development satisfying for the reader.

A delicious book!
