A phenomenal read! The digital assassin, is she as bad as they say? People are not what they seem, the AIs in control are more potent than ever. The Fight for control, war against governmental factions, the Republic and the Tetrarchies, the obsession of power control..its the ultimate greed of higher echelons. It’s a super fast-paced read filled with suspense and intrigue. Archetypal science fiction...wildly imaginative, thought-provoking and thematically profound. I hope book #3 comes out soon!

Eleanor Ann Harmon walked down the stainless steel hall in her lab coat, her skin pale and wan, no muscle tone – it made her look sickly. Heading for the cells, she saw one of the “indents” (indentured servants) lying on the floor and whimpering. She was glad a guard wasn’t needed due to the biocollar the woman wore around her neck because, although Eleanor Ann didn’t care how the guards expressed their animal urges with the females, she didn’t want them looking at her that way. She had already put one man in his place for approaching her, writing up the screwdriver in his ear which caused him to bleed out, as an “accident” of some kind. The company would benefit from his life insurance, so no harm done.

Eleanor Ann looked down at Raquel and told her it was time for the next experiment. Here on Raton Five, there were no rules or regulations about how they did their research. The scientists had complete freedom. The subjects’ suffering and dying was all for the greater good. With the smell of blood still on the testing chair, she ordered the reluctant Raquel to sit down. Gunther Cortez, Eleanor Ann’s male colleague behind the glass partition, couldn’t keep his eyes off of Raquel and Eleanor Ann felt jealousy, which she could not permit to humanize the subject. Today, they would run a program that pretended the biocollar was still in place so StarCen would not know it was disconnected. They could then do whatever they wanted to the subject, who was probably not going to survive. They could endanger her physically without alarming the AI.

Skylar, Jillian, and Granny shared quarters on the voyage to Pegasi Station. Granny was amazing in their sparring sessions, easily taking down the two younger women with no effort as she taught them self-defense techniques and how to disarm opponents. They practiced shooting until Jillian made some real progress; Skylar was already very good at it.

Finally, the Ultima Mule and the Slender Sylph came to within an hour of Pegasi Station and both ships stopped for their final preparations. The AI system LuteNet sent out the fighter drones from both pirate ships. Instead of the merchants they expected, however, they saw only two Eagle-class destroyers orbiting near Excelsior. Their drones were destroyed, then the destroyers disappeared, reappearing as their own ship’s klaxon rang out and the lights flashed red. They were under attack from the warships!

There is so much more going on in this book, but the excitement is quickly escalating! How will Captain Christopher Raleigh deal with this unexpected turnaround? And when the enemy captures Jillian, will they be able to follow and successfully rescue her? Grab your copy and don’t miss the excitement!

There is a huge bounty on her and he intends to get that bounty. There is just one problem as it is taken by the space marines in a battle and he wants to take it back. Will he be able to? Will he get the bounty? See if he will

"Biff was buff."
Clarion's Call continues the story of Raquel, a digital assassin, and the crew of the pirate chessboard the Ultima Mule. Granny is still second in command to Captain Christopher Raleigh and a platonic romance is rapidly forming between him and the runaway Tetrach's daughter, Jillian Thrall. But her father is determined to bring Jillian back and a plot is activated to recapture her. Meanwhile, the mutant Raquel's indentures have been passed to the pilate, Roddy, at his request and he's taking full advantage of his ownership privileges to the amusement of Jillian and So glad who has had to come to terms with the death of her twin.
And this is just the start of the book, which continues to be packed with adventure, double dealings, deaths and the pursuit of credits. With quirky characters sufficiently well drawn enough to capture the reader's empathy, this is another full action story which is quick and easy to read. Fun for all science fiction fans, and recommended.
My thanks to Booksprout from whom I requested and received a freely gifted complimentary copy.

A Ship With A Bounty & Double Dealing

AI, science and space. Lots of action and a complex plot. Quirky characters that entertain. This is the continuing story of Rachael the digital assassin. Lots of adventure and double-dealing, a ship with a bounty on it and they need to save the damsel in distress. Fun read.

After reading the second book in the series, I can assert that for me this series is the perfect science fiction adventure/Space Opera. The length is spot on, my sweet spot, the chapters are short, fast paced and give a sense of flying thought the pages with reckless abandon. The author continues to weave interesting concepts (a digital assassin, planet running A.I.), a fun and varied cast of characters, in a very solid storyline.

I actually like this one better then Digital Assassin, the first in the series. Jaxon is great at creating immersive worlds and what he has created for Pirates of the Milky Way is no exception. His world's are different, yet familiar. I look forward to reading more of this series.

More pirates!

Alternate universe, SF advanced technology, space opera, ultra capitalism, space pirates

Jillian, younger daughter of Julius Thrall, ruler of the Star League, wants to join the pirates, and has her sights on the dashing pirate captain Raleigh. We also meet Raquel Kirkland, a digital assassin, a woman who can shift between a human and a sentient digital form and travel via electrical wiring, and use her ability to murder. Fantastical stuff.

Excellent editing. Enjoyed.

Pretty good

I enjoyed the story but need more background to develop the characters and to make the “science” believable. It’s fun to think about the future. It’s a quick fun read.

A good combination of space battles, combat and interplanetary intrigue.
