Mind control, is it possible to have your memories erased, altered or replaced? Is it possible to change events with one simple invasion of your mind? Is it right, even if the government is behind it and it is for the good of society? As with any special power, there are those who will abuse it, those who seek to control for their own divisive machinations and that is where David Jenkins and his family step in, ready to stop evil in its tracks. Sounds equal parts terrifying and fascinating as Amanda Uhl’s Mind Waves takes control and sends us reeling into a world far from perfect as one extremely powerful mind hacker discovers a woman who does more than just attract him in a fresh take on good versus evil.
Grace is just coming off a bad divorce, and she is determined to never be controlled again. She wants love, real love and fears her feelings for David are being controlled. But she is in danger and becomes a pawn in a battle for power and control. And her hearts seems to know where the safe place to land is.
I give huge kudos to Amand Uhl’s riveting and fresh paranormal tale! She has taken a path rarely followed and made it her own with brilliant plotting, fascinating battles in a realm where minds fight minds. Grace is a riveting heroine, full of determination and a fiery resolve to be her own woman. David appears to have the patience of a saint at times, but I’m not sure I liked the idea of invading one’s personal thoughts!

Ever since I read about governments having paranormal research programs for real, books like the Mind Hackers series jump out at me.
Prologue: David has worked for CMU, the US government’s Cognitive Mind Unit for seventeen years. The mind hackers work as a team with a trainer. David and Meg infiltrate minds, implant thought and steal secrets. This is to be their last mission, but…
Grace meets David at a job interview. Though she didn’t get the job, David hires her to create one of her glass mosaics for his family’s lake cottage. To make sure she will commit to the project, he tells her House Trends would be showcasing the process.
In a way, it was creepy, the way he manipulated her right from the getgo. I sure wouldn’t like it, but she really does know what’s going on.
I love that she works with beach glass. I too have walked many beaches, looking for those treasured and rare pieces.
Since Meg’s death, David had been in seclusion, but now he has to confront his enemy. A mind blowing villain who is reckless, ruthless, determined, willing to sacrifice any who get in his way. A power hungry rogue hacker has his sights on him. Why? Is Grace in danger? What makes her special to both of them? Poor Grace…caught in the middle and doesn’t even know it.

I loved this book, right from the beginning I was sucked into the story and was on the the edge of my seat, this was action packed, full of suspense and romance. I loved the romance between Grace and David, and the stalking mind hacker was super creepy, I was kept guessing all the way through as to who else was involved, would it be someone close to them both betraying them. This was a gripping, addictive book and as soon as I'd finished I was checking to see if there was a sequel, I'm extremely disappointed that there isn't, maybe later on? This book was also narrated by the author Amanda Uhl it was professional an expressive, a pleasant surprise.

WOW WOW WOW!!!! Amazing read! From the start up to the last, I was hooked on this book! The story and the characters of this book are amazing. I love how I was easily pulled in with the story and how I was easily getting attached to the characters. I love the characters' chemistry, I can easily feel their attraction with each other. This book gave me chills all throughout. Loved it! Overall, this book is freaking fantastic! Definitely worth it! I can't wait to read more of Ms. Amanda's books!

An exciting, suspenseful and romantic start to the Mind Hackers series!
Mind Waves is my second Amanda Uhl book, and I enjoyed it. The author has created a compelling yet complex plot across three genres - romance, suspense and paranormal. The story follows David, one of the top agents for the CMU (Cognitive Mind Unit), who possesses a specific yet unique skill set. He's a mind hacker who can extract information and compel speech among civilians. His powers are primarily used for the protection of intellectual property. On the other side, we have Grace, an artist, who is financially reeling from her divorce and needs a job to pay the bills. Their paths cross at a job interview, and David poaches her to create one of her glass mosaics for his family home. Both protagonists are drawn to one another, with brief tension highlighted throughout the book. However, a dark and sinister hacker wants Grace for his personal use and will do anything to have her. Mind Waves delivers on high stakes and romance, even though I would have loved more tension between Grace and David. The action scenes kept me on my toes, and the last 30% of the book had me hooked. The ending was simply magical and endearing. I can't wait to dig into the second book of the series.

MIND WAVES is the first book in the Mind Hackers series, and we learn of a unit in the US government that has people who can enter other people's minds and retrieve information.
Our main female, Grace, is the most passive female character I've read in a long time. Everything just happens to her, she doesn't initiate anything. She goes along with the flow, with an internal monologue accompanying most events. Our main male, David, is supposed to be a good guy, but I think the years of delving into people's mind have left this a grey area (pardon the pun). The big bad is left as a mystery for most of the book, but it is pretty clear that he and Brains are connected.
I enjoyed this book, I did. There are parts I didn't like, and I have loads of questions that remain unanswered about situations, people's behaviour, etc., but I'm afraid my curiosity is not piqued enough for me to continue with this series.
If you are looking for a Science Fiction (ish) Mystery (ish) Romantic Suspense type book, then maybe this is the one for you.

David is a government agent for the CMU (Cognitive Mind Unit). It's a group of mind readers that look for people who steal intellectual property. Grace is an artist that works with sea glass that he meets while on a job. He realizes she's special and begins to have feelings for her, but he's not the only one. The other man is interested in Grace too, but he wants to control her, so when David's most recent job overlaps with Grace's stalker, David must protect her while also doing his job. Great book full of suspense.

Luckily, Grace intrigues the one man meant for her. She wasn't meant to be the mission but soon she becomes all, including the mission for David.

I received a copy of this book directly from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.
To be honest, Mind Waves by Amanda Uhl isn't my typical pick for a romance. Sure, it has all the elements I love in fiction: Suspense, Romance, Paranormal... but I don't often look to combine all three. However, I find that I enjoyed this book regardless. There was a lot of tension in this book and a sense of imminent danger. The romance was equal parts dangerous, sweet, and sexy.
The only thing that didn't quite sit right with me was the mind-reading bits (and I'll admit that's a pretty significant part of the book). I couldn't get over the weird in-mind visuals of the guys fighting with long whip-like arms, the constant referral to "portals" and "happy place". It came across as a bit cheesy. Although I can't quite put my finger on it, it felt almost... dated... reminding me of similar books I read in the late 90's. I'm sure it's probably just a personal hang up... but I just couldn't get over it.
I also wish the sweet and sometimes sexy romance between the two main characters had been a little more sexually charged. The couple spent so much time doubting and arguing with each other that I sometimes forgot they were in love. It would have been nice to see a little more sexual tension thrown in, and a few more endearing moments to round it out.
That being said--it wasn't all bad. I found the plot compelling. I liked the characters (even the evil ones). The writing was impeccable; the pace moved along steadily and I never ran into any jarring grammatical issues or structure hang-ups. Despite my rather tepid feelings towards how the mind-reading was handled, I did enjoy the book quite a bit. Which why I gave it four stars. I'm sure there's going to be a lot of readers out there that enjoy certain aspects of the books more than I did, and I encourage you to give this book a try if it sounds like something you might be interested in. I'd say it leans a little more heavily towards the suspenseful side of the plot than the romance, but there's still a good measure of romance to it. Give it a try.

If you could read thoughts, and alter them to your liking, would you abuse that kind of power or make sure to respect boundaries?
David Jenkins is a Mind Hacker. He can read minds, erase or change memories and thoughts, and generally hack into someone's head as he pleases. But he's not doing it for fun. A Government Operative, David uses his ability to ensure the safety of common civilians from criminals. However, lately, there has been a certain criminal who seems to have the same skillset as him - and Grace Woznisky, a woman David is strongly attracted to, has become said criminal's sick new obsession. Will David be able to protect her, all the while keeping his identity hidden? And how is he going to do that, if he's on the verge of breaking the one rule he always followed: never get too close to a civilian?
Well this book sure had some interesting plot twists and sidestories to offer. Apart from the X-men kind of feeling - courtesy of the Jenkins family - it was also fast-paced and full of intrigue and action. The main villain kept twisting around and it was nearly impossible to fgiure him out, not until he decided to explain himself - which was rather late in the story, so bonus points to keeping the suspence that way!
The romance was definitely a nice touch, as it was given room to bloom and develop even with the insta-attraction factor giving it a headstart. The only thing that may have brought me down a little was how much everyone - especially Geneva - was hellbent on interfering with David's decisions when it came to Grace. I mean, sheesh, guys, he's the strongest member of the team, and he's damn good and in love, leave the man be!
I'm looking forward to reading more of this series, Geneva's story in particular - I have a feeling she'll get a book of her own, that kind of tension I sensed just can't be ignored!

MIND WAVES is my debut novel and placed in five romance writing contests.
I write paranormal because I’m a bit paranormal myself. All my books are set in contemporary times, so they can seem realistic. I’ve been asked: “Does the U.S. government really have a Cognitive Mind Unit?” As far as I know, they do not, but I wouldn’t put it past them!

Enjoyed the premise of people having the ability to hack other people’s minds and controlling them. The story is interesting enough and kept me entertained. The story is a bit slow moving, so less filler would’ve been good. I listened to the audio, and the narrator did a decent job. A little bland, but overall, I’d recommend listening. I was liking the romance, but David was kind of creepy. This may be a spoiler of sorts, so warning! David messes with the female lead,Grace’s, memories, and doesn’t even get any backlash for it. The mind hackers group lies and says the enemy hacker messes up Grace’s memories, but it was David too. It’s not ever cleared up either; unless I missed it, so David just lets the lie stay. That is so not a good guy in my mind; plus he withholds lots of other important information from Grace. Grace is treated like the little woman that should just thank the stars that David pays her any attention at all. I didn’t like it. Grace is treated badly by the hackers group and the members seem like jerks most of the time. The romance could’ve definitely used a larger dose of loving feelings. Overall, I enjoyed Mind Waves, but it didn’t quite pull me in.

Amazing, thrilling, spine-tingling futuristic story
If I could have called out of work with a good conscience to keep reading this book, I would have! I LOVED it. In MIND WAVES we find out about an unknown bureau in the government, the CMU or Cognitive Mind Unit where its members can control people with their minds. In this way, they can detect the bad guys and what their intentions to be, or infiltrate minds to gain information, cooperation or implanting thoughts. David Jenkins is one of these people and in his realm, he is way above average. These abilities are carried on the genes of select families so in his extended family there are many people like him, most working for the CMU or retired from it.
Our story is about David and a woman we find out he has admired from afar, Grace Woznisky. Thing is, Grace has been divorced from a cheater and goes very slowly in new relationships. David wants more and faster. However, it is the interplay between the physical and mental actions and consequences and the lovable protagonists that heroically overcome the greedy evil villains that make this novel memorable and hard to put down until the very end. Amanda Uhl is a new to me author, and this book is amazing. If you like romantic suspense, this is for you. David is part of a governmental agency that is able to infiltrate minds. When he is with Grace, their connection is so strong, and their love growing. Now she is the target of a madman, and David needs to do whatever it takes to protect her. Even if it means erasing him from her mind. Is he strong enough to ward off the attacker and take the mind hacker down? How interesting and scary this book is all at the same time! Grace is amazing. I love her strength and trust. When things are not as they seem, and she has no memory of David, she still puts her trust in him. David is like superman. He knows exactly what he needs to do, and is there when he is has to be. And the craziness of a madman, all for power is just insane. It's that thrilling suspense feel, wondering what is going to happen, will they catch him, the intricacy of the chase and the power of love. It's a fantastic listen.

This story fascinated me and really got me thinking about what could happen if people could read minds and influence them.
The story takes us on a journey of espionage. The US government have agents who can read and influence minds, and David is their best agent. When his interest in Grace pulls her into an ongoing investigation, David is determined to keep her safe, but he doesn't know who the rouge hacker is and he doesn't know if he is strong enough to win.
The process behind the 'Mind reading/influencing' was explained well, and although I didn't understand everything, I understood enjoy to enjoy the story. Some of the 'mind battles' were a little confusing, but I got the gist.
Grace was the FMC, but I felt she was a push-over, I constantly wished that she would stand up to people more. It just seemed that she went along with everyone else and tried not to rock the boat.
For me David was hard to like, there were moments when I could see his love/devotion for Grace, but most of the time he just seemed stalkerish and domineering. His constant disregard for Grace's wishes and requests was a huge red flag, and he came across as a bit of a bully, always pushing to get his own way.
I can't make my mind up about the ending. It wasn't unexpected, but it was also just a touch disappointing because it was so predictable - I also wanted Grace to stand up for herself for once.

Mind Waves, the first in the series, takes the idea of mind reading and adds it's own twist to it. Hackers (men) are only at their best when balanced with trainers (women). Since people with these skills only come from a select number of families, they find themselves paired together.
David is drawn towards Grace, which is trouble because as a hacker he's bringing her into a dangerous world. But Grace is not without her choices. The mysterious Brains that she met online but has yet to meet has her intrigued. There's nothing I love more than a book with an awesome plot and an awesome sprinkling of romance. While this book is NOT a romance there is a romantic interest throughout the novel. The perfect blend!
My only critic and the reason this I give this book four stars, is the ending. It felt semi rushed, as if everything that needed to be fit in was done so quickly and with not as much thought and care as the rest of the book.

David Jenkins is a man with a unique, and secret, specialty as well as a large income. David is someone, the elite someone, who can enter another’s mind and read it, or influence it by adding or subtracting thoughts and memories. David works with a team of relatives who all have some of these mental abilities and who contract themselves to the U.S. government. They are the good guys. David is on the track of a very dangerous adversary when he stumbles across Grace Woznisky, a self-employed muralist who uses beach glass for her projects. Like most artists, Grace is barely making it. She was interviewing with a major corporation and would have had a significant contract, except David influences the CEO to quash the project.
David had apparently seen Grace collecting glass on the beach and wants to steer her away from “trouble.” In his search for his adversary, that CEO was one of the likely enemies, though David’s team does not know the true identity of their antagonist. But Grace has also caught the interest of another man, one who is romancing her via a secret identity, one who might be more of a danger than an internet date might otherwise be.

I loved this book.
In terms of writing style, it was certainly not the best book I have ever read. At times it was quite amateurish, which was such a shame because it meant I couldn't give it 5 stars.
Having said that, there was so much to like about this book.
1. I really enjoyed the storyline. It was unique, well thought out and had me turning the pages very quickly. I read a lot and find many books that are formulaic. This wasn't one of them. And the combination of romance, drama, danger and character development won me.
2. The characters were great. Grace was a great mixture of talented, mature, and insecure. David had to be serious and emotionless but he showed a softer side throughout the book.
3. Uhl did a great job with the subtle 'shows'. Like when we get Grace's thoughts, and David ends up having a coughing fit. We know he has heard those thoughts because of that. I have read other books where the author doesn't trust their own writing and feel the need to throw in an explanation in case you missed the subtlety. Uhl didn't do that and the book was better for it.
I would gladly pick up the next book in this series.

I read this while in the middle of two other books, and considering the high standards of them (both bestsellers) Mind Waves managed to keep those books on hold. The writing is very captivating and drew me in from the start, without any excessive prologue that draws the plot out through a slow beginning. Throughout the book, nothing really goes unanswered in terms of plot and character, as Mind Waves holds itself in a unique category that works for Amanda Uhl's paranormal affiliation. The plot presents a mixture of comedy and classic suspense, all in light of the central plot point: an intriguing relationship between protagonists Grace and David. These characters, as well as supporting characters, fulfill their goals and conflicts through many thrilling sequences of action, both in and out of the mind. Every moment keeps you guessing where the story will take them and their shared battle with a madman, the stories antagonist. Whether you're looking for romance, paranormal activity, or as Mind Waves presents itself with, both, this book has very much to offer.

I’ve pretty much read every type of romance you can think of, so when I saw a romance with mind-melding, it intrigued me. I mean how can you trust someone who can read your thoughts? Read this book and be prepared to have your “mind blown” with a new take on second chances.
David seems a little creepy and stalker-like at the beginning, but he has good intentions towards Grace. He’s a man who holds his feelings close to his vest; partly, because of his dangerous job with the U.S. government’s Cognitive Mind Unit (CMU), and partly, because he feels responsible for the loss of someone very dear to him years ago. But the very attractive and brave Grace Woznisky has unexpectedly captured his heart and he intends to protect her in every way possible even if it means invading her thoughts. However, her knowing about his gifts puts her in danger and he has to take drastic measures to make sure his enemy does not get that information from her.
Grace is a brave and determined artist working hard to find a job to pay her bills, so when she has two men invading her dreams–one doing harm, and one trying to protect her–my heart went out to her. How terrifying would it be to have your mind controlled and having parts of your memory erased? No wonder Grace thought she was going mad.
David seems a bit controlling, but Grace has her ways of bringing him down a peg or two. They do make a good couple, and there are a few LOL moments. I was also engrossed in the unique second chance aspect of their relationship. The various supporting characters including David and Grace’s family and friends are a great addition to the story and I look forward to seeing them in future books in the series. As for the antagonist, he is evil incarnate and gets his just desserts in the end.
Overall, I was wonderstruck with the depth of this story. It wasn’t what I was expecting, and I was completely engrossed with the author’s attention to detail and captivating storyline. If you enjoy romantic paranormal suspense at its finest, give this book a try.

I like to read romances only with HEA and no cliffhangers to destress life, but my first love in life was science-fiction and fantasy...
In this book, I found a sweet love story and a science fiction theme and intrigue! The perfect book for me!
David is an out-of-chart mind reader that works with the US government CMU (Cognitive Mind Unit), and Grace is a wonderful girl with a divorce in her past and a career as an artist.
David's also handsome and charming, and Grace has the right beauty and "mind-waves" to attract him!
In this story, there is also an evil character and mental fights! And we will discover some "mental strengths" Gracie has ...

Mind Waves is a very well-written science fiction/romantic suspense and an excellent start to the series. The premise and world-building are fascinating, innovative, and refreshing. As soon as I started listening, I was sucked into the story; my attention was thoroughly captured from start to end. The storyline was engaging and entertaining, packed with a covert government agency, mind-infiltration, manipulation, suspense, intrigue, mystery, action, and romance. Mind Waves was a thrilling romance, one I certainly enjoyed.
Amanda Uhl did and fantastic job with the writing and narration. She brought her story to life and made it even more enjoyable. All in all, Mind Waves was a great listen, one I'll recommend.

I'm not a big paranormal fan, but this one grabbed me. MIND WAVES is a psychological romantic suspense. Grace who is trying to rebuild her life after her divorce and David who is fascinated with her. David has a gift that has him working for the government. He can infiltrate people's minds to gain information or alter memories. When his relationship and his job cross David must enter Graces mind to protect her against an evil hacker. Both their lives end up in danger. Pray that this is fantasy and the government is not working on this.
Amanda Uhl is a new author and I expect more great books from her. Give this one a try.

This psychological thriller is a real roller coaster ride of emotions. Mind reading and mind control are real, and for the most part the government has a lock on the folks who can do it, but when a rogue hacker decides to settle a long standing grudge, things get dicey, particular for the innocent artist who becomes a pawn in a deadly game.
Great reading, a little spice in the romance sub-plot and characters who are both engaging and believable make this one a great read you won't want to leave... which is probably OK because you'll likely be a bit nervous about going to sleep anyway after you discover the story line.

Wow! What a listen - painful yet beautiful storyline and incredible narration! Our main characters are Grace and David. Both of these main characters have experienced past hurts that have effected them deeply. Grace at times comes across as more vulnerable and David can be somewhat controlling, but all in all I was completely captivated by this unique storyline and the combination of characters that interwove throughout. I love the close knit family ties found with in and the HEA I was wondering how it would ever come to be...

I really enjoyed the blurb. It was something new to me so I was all for reading and reviewing this book. First off, the writing is top notch, and the characters are well developed.
Grace Woznisky needs money fast. Divorce has not only left her heart broken, but also her bank account. While interviewing for a potential job, she meets the mysterious David Jenkins. From the get-go, she senses a pull towards him that will lead her not only to romance but danger.
As for David, he’s extremely attracted to Grace. In seclusion after losing someone precious to him while on the job years earlier, he comes out of retirement to catch a dangerous mind hacker who is out to kill him.
